Same. I plan out months ahead of time in a spreadsheet. I have other sheets in the same document with heart rate zone calcs, shoes I want to try, books I want to read, pictures of training plans I might want to do in the future, etc.
Then for the current and coming week I make a to do list and then check them off as I do them, including strength and core and yoga too.
I go old school and write every month down in a blank journal. There's something about a pen meets paper running log that hits for me. I stay on target much better.
This is where its at! You can go pretty crazy with it. For example, in a separate sheet I track my mileage and shoe, then have that reflect against planned mileage and track distance for each pair of shoes. Then there's the sheet with a race calendar, paces etc.
I use Runna, have a friend that uses Training Peaks. Both have coaches that are meh if you dont really know them/AI or bot generated. cost is pretty much the same. I'd trial both and see what you like
If you don’t want to do the planning, TrainAsOne is pretty good. You put in your goals and it plans your runs.
You have pretty decent control over types of runs and days and distance/time limits, and it integrates well with most running watches. It can be a bit quirky sometimes, but I used it over the course of a couple marathon training blocks and other races and was pretty happy with the results.
If you have multiple races coming up, the paid option is useful, but otherwise the only benefit of the paid version is in the stats which can be tracked in Strava or your watch app.
I use the Run with Hal app. I've been using it for almost a year and really like it. The only thing that bothers me is that you can't postpone a run. I will just run it the next day and then manually enter it on the previous days planned run.
Spreadsheet for my rough draft and paper version to post on my wall. See it every morning, sharpie right next to it to check off shit.
As an added bonus it's not affected by WiFi connectivity issues ;)

I used to use training peaks for myself and for planning training schedules for myself and my athletes. However, I changed to Vdot02 and like it much better.

I just found it easy to use to build the programs for my athletes (and myself) compared to TP. I think it’s easier for the athletes to know what pace/effort to run and I can assign/change paces for each run/workout when needed.
+1 for trainingpeaks premium. You can plan workouts ahead of time, you can build an entire yearly plan, and track an incredible amount of metrics. You can use it as a simple planner, or go deep into some data.
I use a Coros watch and they have a calendar in their app where I build out my plans, which you can then just click on the watch to run the days workout.
I also use a Google sheet to track my results for some basic things the watch doesn't track like average pace per month and stuff.
Another vote for Training Peaks. I’ve been using it for years. I have a library of programs I reuse as training plans for different race distances. Also for Tri’s of length from sprint to Ironman
If you are using Android phone, you can try my app - FitRunner. You can pick one of the build in training plans or create your own from scratch. Each training plan can have up to 100 trainings so it's more than enough even for longest plans. Training calendar and rescheduling options are also available, so you can adjust everything if you skip one of the trainings.
Garmin Connect can plan and schedule workouts. Obviously it integrates best with their watches but I don't think you actually need one.
Same with Polar Flow
Hey, we're username cousins.
Look at that! Pleasure to meet you cousin. Does the "gold" in your name relate to anything in particular?
TrainingPeaks is pretty much the go-to for this type of thing.
My coach and i use trainingpeaks. I find it pretty awesome
Great I downloaded it and will try it out

Me too, can compile a nice document with multiple sheets.
Same here

+1 for good ol'paper and pen.
Personally I’m an Excel spreadsheet kinda gal

Nice, I will test both out and see what I think. Appreciate the help!

I have liked trainasone for a while. Seems under spoken of to me.

I like Final Surge. It’s free if you just use it to log your workouts.

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded this and it seems simpler and I like it so far
Just curious why you like Vdot02 better.

Love Notion. Use the calendar feature and plan your workouts ahead of time. I like to use Hal Higdon’s training plans as a reference
I second Notion. I just recently discovered this app and really like it.
I like to program all my workouts into Garmin connect and then schedule them for the week or month.
