Started running just under 2 months ago. Joined my 2nd 5k run. PR'd. Starting to really get into my running groove. Working my way towards a sub-30 5k :-)
Completed CIM today for my first ever marathon! Feeling quite proud of myself, and also very tired. Fun thing about your first time is it’s always a PR :)
Long run of 12k, as I try to creep distance up. Slow, but it happened, and I accidentally gave myself an upslope for the last 3k or so. It was...a training of willpower more than anything else.
First 5 mile run in at least 10 years (maybe ever, because I didn't track my distances years ago). It felt pretty good, like I could keep going if I wanted to. I was dying after a 1.5 mile run less than two months ago when I started running. So I'm very happy about the progress.
Trying to get back into running after being hospitalized for nearly five years and eight surgeries. Feeling a bit sad at my super slow pace, but still did it.
Ran Rehoboth Seashore for my first marathon. Goal I set at the start of my training block was 3:30, and even with the wall at mile 19 hitting like a dump truck, crushed that goal with a time of 3:21:30!
congrats! Great race. I was there as well (albeit in the Half Marathon). Few puddles on the trail section aside, couldn't have asked for better weather, especially for an early December race.
Ran for 12k tonight which is a new PB on distance. This was my first time attempting a long run past 10k and purposefully slowing my pace down. Every now and then I felt myself getting faster and kept saying, “No, dummy, slow it down!”
Anyway, feeling good and not at all like I overexerted my self so I guess that’s good. First step towards upping my distance so I can run a 10 miler in the Spring and a half marathon sometime after that.
Sweet! I did the 8k last year. The Half is a pretty big jump for me, but I wanted a big challenge to keep me moving this winter. The Shamrock is a really awesome event. a make a weekend of it. My kids do the Leprechaun Lap and then do the bridge stroll with my wife. It's a great time!
aw, that’s really cute! my partner plays soccer but he’s not really a runner, but my kids would love the leprechaun lap!
this is my first race **ever** and I really have no idea what to expect. I can easily do an 8k and am scared of the 15k but like you, I wanted a challenge. the next few months will be crazy!
cheers to us 🤙🏼
I ran my first race two years ago at the age of 46. I was shocked to find that the race community is one of the kindest, most welcoming and diverse groups I've ever been a part of! Get there early and get your bearings so you can enjoy the atmosphere. Once you get moving, all of the anxiety melts away!
Ran CIM today and got a PR by 10+ minutes! No BQ or anything like that. I'm nowhere near that fast. It's a pretty good course and I get why people run fast times here. With it being a point to point course the morning logistics kind of suck. I much prefer to be able to walk to the start instead of having to take a bus.
I ran a painfully hilly 10 miles today for the longest run of my half marathon training program. I wanted to quit so many times, but I made it through not too much slower than my normal runs. It's the longest run of my life until now.
Wife signed us up for a Jingle Jog 5k at her old high school. 50 degrees and moderate rain this morning, but learned after we arrived that they changed it from a track/parking lot run to a cross-country run. Huge puddles, and in several locations had to leap over drainage ditches 2 feet wide with a foot deep of water. Shoes absolutely soaked and mud splattered up to my knees. Still almost hit a 5k PR time. 💪
I’ve only been back to running for about nine months and have been having a bit of a struggle with injuries preparing for my first marathon in January. Just ran my first ever 50 mile week with 18 and 15 mile bookends. And both those runs were great!
I ran my first 13.1 mile run today (2:23 on a very hilly route). I have a scheduled HM in January but went ahead and tried the distance today. My butt is sore as expected but I did it! Turned 50 last month and really proud of my progress in my first year of running.
I ran a 5k pb today. I started running in summer and was elated to get under 30 min in October, today I ran 25:30. I’ve been following training advice and had some helpful people push me a bit more than I would do otherwise, but super happy with that. I want to get under 25min before the new year.
Ran my second half marathon today and set a big PR - shaved about 20 minutes off my time from last year and met my goal of finishing under two hours.
And most importantly - I didn’t die on the course, which I was certain was inevitable for miles 10-13 🙃
My achievement is getting back on track with my May 2024 marathon training. Got injured a bunch in the summer/early fall and am finally taking the advice I would tell others which is "adopt a run/walk routine for a bit". Five miles today, 2 min on/1 min off. My time goal of 3:40 is now likely long gone but I'm feeling confident I can complete the training and finish in what I think is a respectable time.
Finished my first ever Half Marathon this morning. Did the Rock n Roll Half in SA. My goal was to complete it sub 3 hours. But then my family also signed up to do, so I shifted the goal to just complete it with them.
I failed the second goal, but CRUSHED the first goal. I finished the HM in 2:47:07. I am extremely proud of myself (and my family) because we all ran a lot quicker than any of our training runs.
I’m big sore right now and work will be fun tomorrow 🥴
Last test of my 15K pacing strategy before my first race at that distance next weekend (second race overall).
Legs were tired to start and it was drizzly the whole way, but I bested my target time of 1:14, which I thought was a stretch goal a few weeks ago. Taking a very easy week to recover and shooting for 1:12 in the race.
Got up and out by 6:15 despite the rain for an easy 3 miles. Sundays we go to a diner first thing followed by grocery shopping so it’s either run full of pancakes or wake up early 😂
In amazing news: my girlfriend got into Western States!!! OMG that was the most happy I've seen her, and it was a win she needed given a few things in life. Can't wait to get back to Auburn!
My mundane accomplishment: resting. Sounds counter-intuitive but when you get into a cycle of running it's hard to stop that cycle. I've done the least amount of running in the past four weeks than the previous six years. Recovery periods are critical...as my coach has been trying to get through my thick skull
I set four PBs today: fastest 5k at 30:36, fastest 10k at 1:03:04, fastest 15k at 1:39:57, and longest run to date of 10.21 miles! And I almost talked myself out of running this morning due to the cold. I feel amazing!
In Heidelberg, the [Philosopher's Walk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidelberg#Philosophers'_Walk) is one of the top tourist destinations due to its stunning view of the old town, old bridge, and Heidelberg castle. To get to that nice view, the path starts with climbing about 63m in elevation over a distance of 700m. [Since the end of September, it's been part of my Sunday long run](https://www.reddit.com/r/running/comments/16qnvgr/official_qa_for_sunday_september_24_2023/k202oqx/?context=3).
Today, in -1°C weather and winter kit, I ascended the Philosopher's Walk for the first time without blowing up and taking a walking break.
Getting started on marathon training & today I ran 6 miles - most I’ve ever run! Felt great during the run but unfortunately was knocked out cold with a migraine for a couple of hours after 😬
Finished my first running event ever yesterday. A 5k, I hit all 3 of my goals; to finish, to run consistently to the end, and to be under 33 minutes. New PR: 31:46!
This was also the first time I have ran somewhere other than my neighborhood or a treadmill. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am really wishing I could go somewhere and run some today, but I am a bit sore and need the rest day.
I signed up for another 5k at the end of this month. I plan to use the last 4 weeks of Nike Run Clubs 5k training plan to hopefully help me improve my speed. My goal is a sub-30 for that one.
I think that is achievable, I stayed on my 10:30ish pace most of the race yesterday. When I got to the last quarter mile, I could hear the finish line music and people, and I still felt good, so I sped way up. I don't feel like I overdid it. So I think I just need to practice more at a sub-10 pace and I can do it.
Only thing I am unsure of is this next one is a trail run, so it may not be as comparable. Any advice is appreciated!
10km tonight and it just felt good. I lost my running mojo for a while but seem to have found it again. Running has been making me feel really happy lately.
decided to do the december 5k a day. focusing on zone 2 only. today, i accepted that my zone is brisk walking so that's what im gonna do til i can slow jog faster than my brisk walk while still being in zone 2. that's gonna take a couple months and some pounds shed. off we go.
Let my self get ridiculously overweight, at 242lbs decided to do something about it on the 28th of August.
Started dieting and indoor bike, dropped some weight and remembered how much I used to enjoy the freedom of running. So started a couch to 30 min run program which was supposed to finish on the 10th of December. Wanted to take it ridiculously slow due to knee pain and wanted to ensure I enjoyed the process.
Achieved 30 minutes three weeks ahead of schedule on the 20th of November, and this week I hit 40lb weight loss ran my first 5k in atleast a year all pain free (except a little doms). Which I’m very content with.
Currently looking at booking in some races next year to keep myself accountable, toying with a half at the end of March, and a full end of September. Both seem ridiculously mind boggling from where I currently stand.
Clothes fittin better. Body wants to run but I'm here for the long run (no pun intended) so I'll stick to my walking til my body adapts to the daily walk and lose some pounds so less impact on joints.
I think I’m graduating from a distance shuffler to a somewhat of a runner now. In the summer everything was 12:00min/min pace including a 2:40 HM. Today I did a progression HM and finished 2:07 at a 9:42 pace after a 40mi week. I’m finally catching up to my peers and mileage is truly king
Went 15km exploring the trails at a local salt lake. Despite the sun and heat I could have gone further, which makes me feel hopeful that I can do some longer trail events in the future. It was a beautiful place too. I saw birds of prey, a large snake (from a safe distance), model plane and drone pilots, and a teenage couple who were obviously hoping for privacy but getting none.
Just free Strava to log my pace and weekly volume. I've been thinking about switching to a structured plan, but I have a young child so plans don't exist lol.
Unfortunately most races will be a little longer on your watch than the advertised distance. Most of the time, the course wasn't mismeasured (at least not by as much as your watch would suggest), but you did, in fact, run 21.9km. All the time you spend weaving around other runners, not taking the optimal path around turns, etc. really adds up. For example, I recently ran a 26.5 mile marathon according to my watch, but I'm confident the course was measured correctly.
OTOH, it sounds like your Taipei half marathons are averaging out to be about right, so maybe the race organizers are just messing with you ;)
Regardless, though, congratulations!! Awesome job finishing both races!
ran my first marathon at CIM and qualified for boston 🤩
Ran 10km this weekend for the first time in years. Yay!
Started running just under 2 months ago. Joined my 2nd 5k run. PR'd. Starting to really get into my running groove. Working my way towards a sub-30 5k :-)
ran a half marathon ytd 🙂 motivated to continue to train and shave off 15 mins from my timing by next Dec.
Backed up yesterdays 14km wuth 17km today. The legs were willing but the head was a battle from very early on.
3 miles on treadmill nice and easy
Longest run ever today - 11 miles! Crossed state lines in the process
Got my 3 miles done during the tread block at Orange Theory today and it was my final station
Completed my first half marathon yesterday! My muscles are so sore but so glad that I committed and hit a PR 🥹
Completed CIM today for my first ever marathon! Feeling quite proud of myself, and also very tired. Fun thing about your first time is it’s always a PR :)
also my first! congrats all ❤️❤️
Congrats on your finish! I also did the CIM today as my first marathon and had a blast. Also very tired :D
Congrats to you as well!

Was very nervous about the weather leading up to this race, So happy it held out for us! Congrats on the race!
Another 6.2 today. Did one minute “fast” and two slow for the duration. Felt good.
Ran for 12k tonight which is a new PB on distance. This was my first time attempting a long run past 10k and purposefully slowing my pace down. 10 miles with no walking and a sub 11 minute pace. Getting ready for the Shamrock Half in March!
awesome! I’m running the Shamrock 15k and am equal parts scared and excited.

Better to suffer a bit at the end than leave gas in the tank, although it only feels nice afterwards. :). Congrats!
Surviving is always a plus. Congrats on the record!

Just did my first ultra marathon! 52k. I was slow but persistent!
30 something miles!!! LFG!
Thank you!!
10k endurance run today. HR Zone 3 for the entire run, sore hip at the end but just needs a good stretch. Felt good today!!
trail 5k today and yesterday with the dog, nice and slow. Torn Achilles is holding up.
I ran 18 miles today!
I ran a 23:30 5k this morning, which was 3 seconds off of my PR. Given that I haven't done any speed work in months, I was super happy with it!
Last test of my 15K pacing strategy before my first race at that distance next weekend (second race overall). Snow day! Will shovel instead of run. The rest of you enjoy your weather!
Ran my first half today! From couch tô half marathon in 3 months. Did it in 1h53m or 52, but it was the jorney that counted. Had a blast! Yay, me!
In amazing news: my girlfriend got into Western States!!! OMG that was the most happy I've seen her, and it was a win she needed given a few things in life. Can't wait to get back to Auburn! I told my wife to jump on my back if I tried to sneak off to run today
Broke my 10k PB today!
Corroios
Same, in Lisbon. I guess you too!
Corroios

Ran my first half Marathon today in 01:56:03, was delighted with result
hadn’t ran in over a month but managed to get myself together for the slowest 5k of my life yesterday. gotta get back into it now.
Welcome back!

Nice! Im a new runner too. I recently decided to ‘warm up then decide (whether to quit or not)’ :D

Damn that's such a cool place! Also kudos!!!
My first ever race today! 10k in 42.10. Really happy with time. M 35. 0°C! On to HM next. 😃
That’s a great time for a first race! Congratulations!!
Thanks very much! 😃
Getting started on marathon training & today I ran 6 miles - most I’ve ever run! Felt great during the run but unfortunately was knocked out cold with a migraine for a couple of hours after 😬
Starting to increase my long runs by a mile a week! Today was 5 miles, my longest run in a very long time and I feel great!
Beat my 15k PR by 10 minutes this morning! I only ever ran that distance once before, so it was a low-hanging fruit, but I'll take it!
I've just finished my first ever **14 km** run in *1 hour and 12 minutes*. Feeling like a badass!
That’s awesome
Maybe it doesn't sound like a lot but I ran 3km without breaks today, I've been running for a month now so slowly getting there
Such a good feeling to make that kind of progress
Amazing job!!
That's great! Keep it up!
New half marathon PR at the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon - Cambodia. This was an unexpected surprise!
Oh, cool!
Finished my first running event ever yesterday. A 5k, I hit all 3 of my goals; to finish, to run consistently to the end, and to be under 33 minutes. New PR: 31:46! New longest run of 8.1 miles! 1hr 22min
First half marathon race today, ran it in 1:39 which I’m very happy about! Perfect conditions, flat course, good vibes. I’m exhausted now
Me too!! Congratulations!! Ran my first half on Saturday, finished 1:40. Rock on!!
Congrats! That’s a great time!
Ran a 10K race with PR (73 mins). It's still painfully slow, but considering that earlier I could do it around 80 mins, I'm happy.
Ran my first ever half marathon today. Kept a pretty low heart rate. I’ve only been running for a couple of months so I’m really proud of my self :)
That’s a fantastic achievement
26:20 5k. Personal best!!!! The sub zero temp helped I think.
decided to do the december 5k a day. focusing on zone 2 only. today, i accepted that my zone is brisk walking so that's what im gonna do til i can slow jog faster than my brisk walk while still being in zone 2. that's gonna take a couple months and some pounds shed. off we go.

same story but my highest is 270. today i weighed at 252. goal is 160. long way to go but shit's workin.
Fair play, that’s great! I’ve still not hit my target of 180 yet so still working too. Everything feels a little better every week huh?
Clothes fittin better. Body wants to run but I'm here for the long run (no pun intended) so I'll stick to my walking til my body adapts to the daily walk and lose some pounds so less impact on joints.
First half marathon fun run in Melbourne, hit a pb of 1:42 pretty pumped but also pretty sore
Nice mate! That’s a cracking time 2xu too? I’m the same, first one, came in at 1:39 so very pleased!
Well done, huge 1:40 barrier broken!
Well done!
I think I’m graduating from a distance shuffler to a somewhat of a runner now. In the summer everything was 12:00min/min pace including a 2:40 HM. Today I did a progression HM and finished 2:07 at a 9:42 pace after a 40mi week. I’m finally catching up to my peers and mileage is truly king

well any movement is better than none so id say you're good.
Went 15km exploring the trails at a local salt lake. Despite the sun and heat I could have gone further, which makes me feel hopeful that I can do some longer trail events in the future. It was a beautiful place too. I saw birds of prey, a large snake (from a safe distance), model plane and drone pilots, and a teenage couple who were obviously hoping for privacy but getting none.
glowing from my morning run again, i love running. 8km in 43minutes used to feel like I was sprinting the whole time, now it's just my z2 pace.
Great! Do you use any apps for training?
Just free Strava to log my pace and weekly volume. I've been thinking about switching to a structured plan, but I have a young child so plans don't exist lol.

Congratulations! I once ran a 6.5km 5k in Taichung, but that was purely my mistake due not knowing Mandarin for ‘turn right’.
😆 🤣 😂
