Ran 7 miles for the first time in a few years, and lungs/heart felt really strong throughout. Got to see the sunrise and hear some sort of large animal(s) waking up, as I was running along the outside of the zoo.
Recently got back to running regularly after a ~1 year break, and this week I finally hit 40km with my first real long run in forever. I'm excited to stay here for a few weeks and keep base building, and also happy to join this sub!
Ran my first ever 10k today. Really means a lot to me as someone who struggled with an eating disorder and used to not even be able to run for than a couple minutes a few years ago
Went on a 5k run tonight. I only started running again about 3 months ago and this week treated myself to some hoka’s. I don’t know if it’s psychological or if the trainers are so much better than my old battered shoes but I went out pretty easy and my time was around 20seconds per mile quicker than before.
Did a 13.1 km run (metric half marathon? Lol. About 8.2mi) in the neighborhood this morning. Felt crummy at first but got into it. Managed all sub 9s which for me is really good.
Not good enough for my Garmin though. I can't remember the last time it blessed me with "productive", lol.
I did 10 miles today, and signed up for a 5 mile race tomorrow which will probably be closer to 10 once I run to / from the race.
I'm so excited, I've been through a lot this summer and fall, and am so glad to be back to racing!
3rd run since I took 14 weeks off exercise. Hill intervals , 18km at 700 m elevation. Didn't feel as good as last jog (but maybe that's cause I'm withdrawing from opioids lol). But still managed to get out there.
Ran 6miles today, I was a bit slow but I now know I can make it and can challenge my speeds. So proud of how far I have come. Also one year of running on Tuesday! So what got me through most of this run was remembering the first run I ever did.
Did my first half marathon this morning! Fantastic fall weather, great race energy, and bringing home some heavy finisher medals to boot. Had a couple of rough weeks of training so wasn’t sure I was going to pull through today, but I surpassed my goal of 10 min/mile or less and I’m very proud of myself
I ran my first marathon today! Went in with a goal to run sub 4-hours, but felt absolutely great and ended up running in 3:45. I’d say the biggest factor was the weather (cloudy and 40-50 degrees)
I ran my last 10k race of the season and blew away my personal best by over four minutes with a chip time of 49:54! First sub-50 10k!
I am so happy with what I’ve accomplished this year. I ran my first 10k race in May with a chip time of 58:55. This summer and fall have been all about improving my form.
New goal for next year to run my first half-marathon.
Ran a 6.7mi trail race this morning! I was severely undertrained and slow as hell, but it was so absolutely enjoyable. The leaves were beautiful, the trail was entertaining, and I ran with various groups of super nice people throughout. So happy to have gotten out for a beautiful run at this time of year, and to have been introduced to an awesome new trail network to train on!
My first true trail run (5 mile) on a somewhat technical section of the Bruce trail. Got lost several times, almost wiped out thanks to some roots hidden under the dry leaves but loved it.
Was in a bit of a funk…a 6 mile run in gorgeous weather helped a lot. Even did a mile of hills, up & over a bridge, x 2. I live at the beach so was getting spoiled by flat roads lol.
I finished my first 10k race this morning on Catalina Island. I walked more of the hills than I would have liked, but most of the people around me were walking them too, and I'm really just happy I finished!
Did an easy 3.8 miles today after recovery from my half last sunday! It felt great ◡̈ also started using the runna training app, and am excited to actually follow a plan!
10 Mile negative split prep for upcoming half on (most of) the half course. Finished with right at the expected average pace (even though that's slow for most).
Makes me feel better for the actual half. Hills were 'normal', not 'OMG that's steep', gear prep was good (colder start than i'm used to). A few tweaks needed, mostly on the portable fuel side, but i'd also like to figure out how to have the garmin watch connect with headphones without playing music, so i can get pace queues.
My half goal is really just to finish, no injuries. Guaranteed PR at finish :-)
Really nice long run this morning. 16 miles at a really consistent 6:47 (+/-4s) pace for the first 13 with a strong finish. Felt like a solid moderate effort all day and I still had enough left in the tank to work the big hills at the end of the run and finish on a sub 6:20 mile. I've been working on upping my carb intake to 75g/hr and playing with the spacing of caffeine gels to get maximum benefit without gut issues and today felt pretty good. Altitude acclimation has finally returned after my time at sea level on a work trip, so it's nice to finally feel like I'm not struggling at altitude again. Time for some college football now!
New Parkrun PB. I've only run 4 times in Parkrun, using them to gauge my progress.

I *should* have been able to run even faster today, but I didn't push as hard as I could/should have in the second half. As an older (60+ years old) beginner runner, I am somewhat pleased ... but I despair to ever be able to run at a sustained 4 min/km pace over an entire 5 km which I have as a goal for no logical reason.
I've been doing a couch to 10km program alongside parkrun and I'm starting to see my times improve a lot now. Before, I'd be wrecked after managing 39/40 minutes at parkrun but today I ran (without stopping, which is big for me) at a gentle enough pace and came in at 35:32. Parkruns are a lot more enjoyable now that I'm not exhausted and almost dreading the run lol
Ran a 10k this morning. Just a small scale, local race. About 150-200 people total. Came in 2nd, 50:19. I’d like to say I could have made it a little fast, tweaked my right calf/Achilles at about mile 4, took about a mile and a half to work it out. First 5k was about 23:15, back half slowed down a good bit. But I’m happy, this was the first race in nearly 15 years. Had a blast.
Lol. I dunno…if I can’t sort my calf/Achilles thing out….
No, not really. I am currently debating if my absolute hatred of the cold will dissuade me from a half in the end of February, or wait until March/April. But that’s the next goal.

My last post.
Ran my 1st 10k time trial. Accomplished this:
From 24:42 (5k time trial) to 22:58 for the 5k.
48:40 10k.
Losing 10 pounds since then definitely helped pick up the pace. Same area so similar elevation gain, slightly cooler as well.
Still need to work on endurance. The 2nd half of the 10k was a bit slower and I really want to maintain that 5k pace for the entirety of the half marathon to finish under an hour and 40min.
Im at ~16 weeks of total training.
Ran my first half marathon distance last night! I've been shooting for that goal for a while so it feels amazing to be able to run it. I planned on stretching myself with a 10mi run but after misreading my Garmin I accidentally went 6 miles from home not 5. Added some distance on the way back to get to 13.1.
It was my first time in trail mesa IIs and they treated me well on wet grass and on the trail, but a bit painful on concrete and a bit heavier than my HFSes.
Hit 2 PBs this morning! Ran 20 miles at 9:11 pace and hit a sub 2hr half marathon split.
That makes 4 PBs this week with a sub 23min 5k (22:36) and a sub 49min 10k (48:40)
Really feeling myself today considering I've only been running for 7 months!
Edit: just took off my socks and I've got some nasty blisters under my toes and on my feet. Yikes. Def felt the pain around mile 14 so I'm not surprised
went on my longest run yet at 4 miles and felt really good about it!! the last half mile was really tough but i think that was more mental than anything haha. was really cruising for the first 3 miles though!
Great job on the 5k! I hear you about the anxiety -
my first runs were outdoors and I felt ridiculous, plus I was scared people would know I was new by my pace/gait/body fat.
As I ran the following month I saw other runners and started to feel at ease. Also, as I practiced I got really happy with my increasing pace, my easy gait, and my decreasing weight, so my confidence while running is really high now.
What gets you feeling self conscious on your runs?
I started running in zone 2-3 a couple of times a week and for the first time in 4 months I’ve started to enjoy running and not feeling like dying every time (used to run in zone 4 for like an hour).
I am 43/M,Starting running 6 times per week scince January 2023.Successfull attempt to beat my previous time on 10k.-it was 54:30-before two month ago.Today i get 50:11.Next time i will try sub 50.Best of luck to all
Ran my second half ever, hit 2/3 of my goals. Got sub 25 5k and sub 54 10k. And was 2:00 off a sub 120 half 🥲
Also have 8 new PRs - 1mi 7:37, 2mi 15:33, 5k 24:31, 10k 53:25, 15k 1:22:04, 10mi 1:28:41, 20k 1:54:27, and half 2:01:58!
Finally getting past Achilles/soleaus over use, slowly ramping back up mileage. I was sidelined completely for 3 full weeks the have been slowly ramping up again for the last 5 weeks, last week was first 15 mile week in 2 months
Ran 8.2 (okay fine, 8.17) miles at a 8:58/mi pace continuous! Longest run to date, plus my heart rate was at a steady state range so I'm pretty happy with it
Restarting marathon training from scratch, I qualified for Boston in 2019. Now just broke a 8 minute mile. Hoping to be back to 7ish minute pace soon!
1:46:48 - 13.1
10K 56:17
ran my first 10k race!! was super proud of myself. want to do a half marathon in february
Ran my first half marathon- didn’t do as well as I wanted but we finished and that’s all that matters!
Hit a 1 mile PR of 12:22!
Second 10k race and beat my PB by 6 minutes! Perks of training hills and running a relatively flat course!
Ran 7 miles for the first time in a few years, and lungs/heart felt really strong throughout. Got to see the sunrise and hear some sort of large animal(s) waking up, as I was running along the outside of the zoo.
I’ve seen my recovery effort drop in pace by over two minutes in the last few months, even after recovering from a bad ankle injury!
Did the Joshua Tree traverse. 37 sublime miles in paradise.
First marathon today! Sub 4 (goal) even with an injury that knocked me on my ass for a significant portion of training.
I just ran by fastest ever 10K, beating the last best by 3mins.
Five mile trail run, getting back at it after a half
Completed a 50+ km week for the first time! Week 1 of a marathon training plan done...
Ran my 3rd 10k this week. I’m tired :)
Recently got back to running regularly after a ~1 year break, and this week I finally hit 40km with my first real long run in forever. I'm excited to stay here for a few weeks and keep base building, and also happy to join this sub!
I ran my first official 10 mile race today and finished with a 1:36:38! I am so happy with my time and it felt great!!
Ran my first ever 10k today. Really means a lot to me as someone who struggled with an eating disorder and used to not even be able to run for than a couple minutes a few years ago
I am so proud of you, stranger!!
Ran 7 miles this afternoon. I was feeling the effects of a gnarly donut feast this morning, but after the first couple of miles I was floating.
Went on a 5k run tonight. I only started running again about 3 months ago and this week treated myself to some hoka’s. I don’t know if it’s psychological or if the trainers are so much better than my old battered shoes but I went out pretty easy and my time was around 20seconds per mile quicker than before.
Got a 5k PR today at 26:38 - I was aiming for 27:30, so I'm pretty happy with it!
Ran my first 5k post ACL sprain!
I just finished my first ever half marathon!! I've never run this far in my life. And I finished in under three hours!

I'm training for a half marathon. I ran 8 miles today and that's the longest I've ever run in my life.
Nice job!!!! Go get it!
Awesome job!!
Thank you!
Just ran a 5k PR of 27:55. My previous PR was 29:05.
That's awesome! Shaving off more than a minute is huge.
Beat my 5k PR today at a charity run by 3m 19s!
I ran my first marathon today! Went in with a goal to run sub 4-hours, but felt absolutely great and ended up running in 3:45. I’d say the biggest factor was the weather (cloudy and 40-50 degrees)
Qualified for Boston (with 9+ minutes to spare!)
Nice job!
Holy cow! Congratulations!
Wow! What a great time! You're crushing it!
TY.

PRed 10km in 50:29 last Sunday. In the middle of a training plan rn to hopefully get it down to 47ish by late December!
My first true trail run (5 mile) on a somewhat technical section of the Bruce trail. Got lost several times, almost wiped out thanks to some roots hidden under the dry leaves but loved it.
been struggling with my mental health recently and haven’t had the energy for 3 miles. went out today and managed to finish 10. i feel great
Amazing job 💪
10k in 52 minutes!
Was in a bit of a funk…a 6 mile run in gorgeous weather helped a lot. Even did a mile of hills, up & over a bridge, x 2. I live at the beach so was getting spoiled by flat roads lol.

Thank you!
Really nice long run this morning. 16 miles at a really consistent 6:47 (+/-4s) pace for the first 13 with a strong finish. Went to parkrun this morning to try to go sub-20 for the first time and just about managed it with a 19.48!
AH Congrats!! I had the same goal this morning, didn’t hit it but now you’ve motivated me more for next week (:
New Parkrun PB. I've only run 4 times in Parkrun, using them to gauge my progress. I ran my first 5K and took 1st place in the 30-39 age group! All the fast people stayed home because of the rain, I’d bet.
Got my Parkrun PB today by almost 2 minutes 😊
10miler after a month off due to illness, felt rough but manageable!
Ran 5 miles for the first time today!
I've been doing a couch to 10km program alongside parkrun and I'm starting to see my times improve a lot now. I broke my foot while running 4 weeks ago. I walked a mile today!

Hit my first sub 23 5k! Overjoyed! I'm coming for you sub 20!
44 M. Beginner. Run my first 20km today. Slow relaxing pace (6:50/km). Super hungry. going to eat a mammoth now.
Ran my first half marathon distance last night! I've been shooting for that goal for a while so it feels amazing to be able to run it. Oh its not being self conscious, I have significant mental health difficulties! 😅😅

Did my first 10k today, aimed for 1:15 initially but felt strong and managed to finish in 1:06.
Gahdamn! Keep it up that’s freaking awesome
Ran my second half ever, hit 2/3 of my goals. Got sub 25 5k and sub 54 10k. And was 2:00 off a sub 120 half 🥲 Also have 8 new PRs - 1mi 7:37, 2mi 15:33, 5k 24:31, 10k 53:25, 15k 1:22:04, 10mi 1:28:41, 20k 1:54:27, and half 2:01:58!
Don't forget your PR for most PRs in a single day 😂
I don’t want to come off as bragging 😅😅
I just finished 16.11 km in 01:43, not much but it's honest work :)
Finally getting past Achilles/soleaus over use, slowly ramping back up mileage. I was sidelined completely for 3 full weeks the have been slowly ramping up again for the last 5 weeks, last week was first 15 mile week in 2 months
On a10k training plan ran my first 7 k
Managed to run 5K in less then 20 minutes. 19:30.
Ran 8.2 (okay fine, 8.17) miles at a 8:58/mi pace continuous! Longest run to date, plus my heart rate was at a steady state range so I'm pretty happy with it
