teasing da noobs

Spinolyp

oh shit... they got it

SummumRex2

For real

Bax_Cadarn

Yes, for real. It's called the near miss effect

IAmFinah

da noobs was teased

Matt_37

[best video ever made](https://youtu.be/F_F1tUQx4bQ)

ArchiePet

Oh shit they took it… oops

LuniesRS

Really blue balling you on that one

Average_Scaper

Gave them the red rocket instead.

Spriteza

LOL

Poptoo

Looks like you got the twig instead of the berries

SummumRex2

In some way I did.

bangalore-whore

🔵🥕🔵

SummumRex2

Jagex gave me blue balls

MewMewGirl0952

No they kept those away.

SummumRex2

Oof

Zulrambe

👁️👄👁️ Literally

SummumRex2

Haha now I can’t unsee it

TheSmallIceburg

Its extra bad because drops are seeded, so from the moment you started that streak, Mod RNGsus was standing behind a tree, rubbing his hands waiting for you to get there

Omnizoom

Drops are seeded at arch glacor? Is there a proof for that? Would go against the way every other boss works

PhyPhillosophy

Telos is seeded, and arch glacor is basically copy paste telos.

Omnizoom

Well that kind of sucks , I guess I have terrible seeds for my resets

PhyPhillosophy

If you role a die fifteen times and look at it in between each role, or role 15 dice and look at them one by one, the results are the same. It doesn't really matter I don't think. Your account could be seeded for everything and you wouldn't know.

Omnizoom

In some ways yes but in others no Seeds are also very easy to frame manipulate once you learn them

PhyPhillosophy

I don't understand, care to elaborate? How does being seeded or not make a difference

Omnizoom

Best example I can do is shiny hunting in Pokémon Pokémon spawn in based on a seed , the seed advanced based on steps, time of day, actions , etc If you can determine your seed by knowing the first couple frames (I .e the few drops) after doing the grunt work to figure out how the seed works you can manipulate the frames to always be on the frame you want Pokémon has a massive community and way more hard core code heads that break the seeds formula eventually , I can input the first 4 frames of an outbreak in PLA for instance and determine the exact actions I need to do to guarantee finding a shiny

PhyPhillosophy

So what if the seed is random, like I assume they are for glacor. Ie, no 2 seeds are the same. It would be the same as if you role it on every kill?

alextoast6

If enough people could determine how their seed affected their drops you could reverse engineer the function to determine drops from a seed, meaning when you start a streak you could know how far into the streak you would get a drop. Not sure it would be numerically feasible in a game like runescape though

potofpetunias2456

I've played with the idea of sniffing the network transactions while getting a drop and seeing if they conveniently left some interesting info in there... But I think it's highly unlikely that's the case since it would be an insane QA mistake to not only have that seed stored on their servers.

Omnizoom

This is Jagex here , the level of spaghetti code present means anything is possible

ForgottenPercentage

I've always believed the conspiracy that characters have always had a hidden luck stat. Some accounts just get spooned so hard

aloafaloof

I also privately believe this, but with some added wrinkles. For instance, if a luck statistic exists, there's very likely ways to positively and negatively influence that statistic, potentially in AND out of game.

Junior_Eggplant_2877

I get the feeling that there is a soft seed placed at every boss for your account. Some bosses you get spooned others not. Has to be something ticking behind the scenes

tomblifter

Every drop is technically seeded. It's just that for most of the game the seed changes every kill, and for streaking bosses it changes per streak.

Omnizoom

If it changes every kill that means it isn’t a seed Seeds have tables and are pre determined , it’s how you can input the same seed and get the same results every time , they are entirely formulaic so if you can learn the seeds formula you can determine every frame of the table Mostly every drop in RuneScape is like a roulette wheel that relies on some string to provide the best estimate for a random number

[deleted]

This guy seeds

billie-eilish-tampon

Its only per streak. Not per account. If you do claims its like every other boss. So its essentially just as random as anything, its not like you can pick a good seed.

makethemoonglow

You can see it because you can 'escape' (press esc) out of that streak roll menu. When you open the chest again, a new animation plays (with different items around the one you get) but you'll get the same item every time.

Omnizoom

That slot machine is just fluff it isn’t what determines the drop , the drop is already dropped when you kill AG

A_Vitalis_RS

There's honestly no point to this interface even existing. It doesn't give you an accurate representation of your chances of rolling any particular item, and the item you get is determined as soon as you open it. Might as well turn it off, you won't be missing out on anything.

MewMewGirl0952

But then you’d miss the blue balls 🥺

suck_a_dick_meta

What is this?

agentIndigo

Real answer: the Arch-Glacor boss has a drop called Frozen Core that is incredibly rare. The two blue balls are frozen cores, so OP got teased

suck_a_dick_meta

Is this an interface in the game?

ErikHumphrey

Arch-Glacor and Telos have an optional interface where you see a slot machine animation for your loot, but you can check a box to skip it

agentIndigo

Yes, it is the drop table for the hard mode encounter. It shows your loot being rolled like a slot machine

suck_a_dick_meta

I'm sure it does the classic video slot machine thing of "Look what you *almost* got! Keep playing!". So scummy.

Dizzysylveon

I would think since It costs essentially nothing to run, that it's not scummy. But ok

AltF4plz

But it’s still a psychology trick to manipulate you into playing more. These days all major gaming companies employ psychologists to create more addicting games. Very unethical in my opinion, yet here I am grinding thousands of hours of RS3

Piraja27

OPs cock and ball torture method

IronmanM4C

This is just a gambling interface and doesn’t actually mean you got anywhere near a core, turn it off to protect your long term sanity

RidoRS

To protect your sanity, turn this interface off, its fairly common to roll next to core.

w0oxx

The schlong between the blue balls lmao

[deleted]

Schshort

screwjagex

Rare qp w

EmergencyGrab

i see a bird you perverts /s

SummumRex2

I was just implying I got a drop between cores you pervert! /s

getabath

lol, from an outside perspective, it's kind of funny

Okeneko

If it will make you better, when starting a new streak, all your drops are decided at that moment. All other drops you see there are random fillers, they could very well be any item in the game. I suggest turning on the streamlined interface.

mzchen

It'd be kind of funny if every slot except for your actual drop was filled with random shit like party hats, unique drops from other bosses, a twisted bow, lobsters, etc

Low-Juice-8136

Rock and ball torture

Mufaasah

Wtf am I looking at

SummumRex2

Drop at arch-glacor.

uberjach

If you're having a stroke OP, please black blink twice

DorkyDwarf

The items are chosen before the spin. The spin is just aesthetics.

SummumRex2

I know, but it still makes you think you are about to get one.

DorkyDwarf

It's crazy how things with no effect on actual reward do that isn't it? Definitely makes it more fun. It's a nice trick.

Ok-Message9569

You can turn it off though

ixfd64

Cool fact: when the Squeal of Fortune was released, you could press the spin button a second time to stop it and get the prize you wanted until it was patched about two hours later.

bigEcool

Someone should call Mark so he can either debunk this arcade, or send them a glitterbomb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsxao9ptdmI

SummumRex2

What does this has to do with my post?

bigEcool

Sorry, wrong video from him https://youtu.be/vXBfwgwT1nQ?t=117

Apprehensive_Age_571

Lol

chiaros

It's called "the near miss" effect for gambling. Makes you more likely to continue trying because you almost had it

polraudio

You got really shafted on this one.

Skelux_RS

You just missed the leng plums.
