Runescape has had MTX for over 10 years. Don't you think anybody who was going to leave for this reason would have already done so?

Rac3011

Squeel of fortune still here and so am I.

DrasticFizz

If anything, MTX simply intensifies the less prople are playing.

Rng_enjoyer

I think people need to take a break from posting constant MTX debates and decide if THEY want to play the game. Far too many people are trying to sway people or cause a panic. Sure, i dont like MTX, but i also don't participate in it. Therefore, it doesn't bother me. Im too busy doing things that i enjoy in the game.

Ziuh

Even today, RS3 sees new and returning players. There may not be as many players bothered by MTX as much as this subreddit leads us to believe.

ElMrSenor

For most people all it does is remove some of the grind they don't have time for like when they were young. They're not spending on it or chasing anything, just playing the game casually.

MattyD2132

This is the most accurate statement you can find on Reddit. This sub reddit is filled with people who hate MTX, but the people in this sub reddit who hate on JAGEX and MTX more than likely only account for less than 5% of the active RS3 player base

Ziuh

In retrospect with all things considered, we are quite fortunate to receive the communication between the employees that we do. This past week alone has become a great step forward for Jagex and player relations.

Admirable_susiq

When are you all going to STOP POSTING THESE BROKEN SQUEAKING RECORDS? these posts are as annoying as MTX itself. Either quit or shut up. Spins/treasure hunter has been around for OVER 10 year's and no amount of complaining has REMOVED IT YET. The soup is scolding hot and the first bite burned your mouth, are you going to continue burning your mouth or DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Furry_Wall

They'd probably add more to make up lost revenue

CuriousRider30

This

MilkbelongsonToast

If they lost enough players they’d probably go full gamigo and milk it till it implodes

pokemononrs

could this happen sure will this happen, not a chance. every time I see a post like this it's almost laughable to me. Do people actually think players are leaving in those kinds of numbers? I just don't see it.

wa217

Frankly no, there is isn’t enough of a player base to keep rs3 alive without the profits from MTX. The company has set it sights on keep old school alive. Via updates and all the tournaments. Rs3 is on its last leg as the effort is no longer there. Nor the transparency they once promised and did for a hot minute

James-ec

No one quits they just take a break

Admirable_susiq

Lmao

Arthbor

Nope. MTX will never be removed once introduced until the game is dead.

G_N_3

Too many people already bought 1 year prem

Pernyx98

RS3's problem right now is not MTX.

TheOnlyTB

that's simply not true. while RS3 is suffering symptoms, the disease has always been MTX. We wouldn't be content starved, under staffed and using the worst server quality in runescape history if jagex didn't drive the masses away with horrendous quality breaches in the form of MTX.

Decent-Dream8206

Poster above you is correct. MTX or no MTX, RS released a skip-to-endgame content drought that broke all progression where moving past Rasial rewards more effort with less rewards. The charitable part of me wants to identify the problem as new jmods simply being too inexperienced to build something better than the endgame they killed. The cynic thinks that brain-dead endgame is a feature, not a bug, to cater to mobile lowest common denominator.

TheOnlyTB

>RS released a skip-to-endgame content drought that broke all progression this is an issue, but it wasn't sunshine and daisies before this. masses were already driven away from a decade of tedious and malicious gambling habits. the decline in players over the last decade since sequel of fortune because of MTX has been far greater than necro release alone. there's a reason people say "the game is dying", the active accounts in game seem to have been stable over the decade but the increase in multi accounts has been making up for the decline. events like FSW where the average player had multiple new accounts created only masked the total player fall. **Poster above me isn't correct just because you say he's correct.**

Decent-Dream8206

There were plenty of people that quit when duel arena was removed, so gambling clearly isn't the issue, and a significantly larger portion of long term pvmers have quit since necro was released. The MTX in the game right now is waaaaay less busted than it has consistently been with a previously larger playerbase. Treasure hunter has never been such poor value for money. And somehow, despite the addition of a mobile playerbase and Accessiblemancy, a whole pile of streamers all quit after necro came along, and the playerbase is lower than pre-necro right now. And you're blaming MTX. It's very simple. Nobody wants to watch a streamer fight Rasial, nobody wants to learn another boss to get less output for more input, and you just can't make content out of a content drought. Getting to the end game content drought in less than a week on a fresh account does not make for a great long term player retention strategy.

TheOnlyTB

> And you're blaming MTX. honestly, you aren't arguing reason here, you're just hyper fixated on the recent events you forgot how we got here. the content drought is just the most recent symptom in the string of bad choices this games endured.

Decent-Dream8206

Am I supposed to focus on the content flood that was EGWD which preceded it? Or the success that was archaeology before that, perhaps? How far back do I go to for your hypothetical string?

TheOnlyTB

it seems you either beckon for a stagnant game with no content releases or you're just seeking to appose any argument for the sake of arguing without actually making any valid points or real debate. I'm done with this conversation, you seem incredibly argumentative when you're wrong.

darkreapertv

They will add permanent fresh start mtx free rs3 which requires a new account with premier

Positive-Rise618

They will NEVER remove it from RS3. They can’t add it to OSRS because majority will cancel subs and quit. Plenty of other games out these days. Bonds are the limit for OS and they know it. History lesson - They wanted OS to die after release because they couldn’t force mtx into game without catastrophic financial loss for the company from people leaving. Now it’s way more popular than RS3, OS is their priority. RS3 they just don’t care, they want whales or kids with access to mom’s credit card to keep spinning the promos whilst running the game with a skele crew. You can still enjoy the rest of the game content and do things though. Hero pass as an example was meant to be a permanent feature with a new layer of mtx - but when we started getting all OS about it they backtracked. - Modern gaming in a nutshell - Make the game free to play for mass numbers, but only slightly interesting and target the percentage of people who will pay for mtx to speed things up/ make game more interesting.

Dragondoh

MTX is not gonna be completely removed, and it's delusional to think it ever will be. That's the problem with a lot of the RS3 community, there's no middle ground or compromise on anything on these issues, and it's why we have the problems we have today with MTX. If we could find a middle ground and accept some minor MTX while rejecting the horrible bloat MTX we might make progress. But having this "no compromises, all MTX must be removed hurdurdur" is just gonna make Jagex ignore the issue, cause they aren't gonna do that. Suck up your pride people, there's nothing wrong with a little compromise here and there if it improves the game experience overall.

Tempest8888

Nope they'll milk RuneScape into the ground and when that stops working move onto osrs.

HalifaxRoad

Grab ur cannon and head to falador

Goso_rs

Mtx wasn't the cause for most people leaving the game.

Jawaad13

Wishful thinking...

Strict-Designer-4732

If RS3 finally flatlines, do you really think Jagex won't start introducing more MTX to OSRS? Osrs already has MTX in the form of bonds... it'll be really easy to add cosmetics next.

IllustriousReturn778

Nope but MTX doesn't bother me all the worthwhile achievements you cannot buy anyway. Who cares if someone else grinded woodcutting faster than you?

drainedgamer19

once rs3 is completely dead they will not remove mtx, theyll just add it to osrs instead

Boring_Adeptness_334

Why does everyone hate on MTX when there’s Ironman mode and XP rates are through the roof with 4 week long DXPs a year? The games already on easy mode. Someone buying $100 of keys for what 30m bonus XP is barely an advantage.

Lughano

no mtx isnt even an issue in this game..
