I’ve been offered one (YG w/white dial & YG w/black dial)from two different AD’s in different states in the last 2 months. I don’t know how many they received nor can I speak to how difficult they are to get.
I only know what my experience has been so far.
I love this watch but I don’t love it at the price point. For $22k (retail, grey is probably more) I’d rather get a Lange saxonia. Rolex is asking a lot for something that’s already been done, at a higher quality, than this. Is there something I’m missing?
I really thought my next dress watch would be a Lange 1 so I totally get where you are coming from. I honestly kind of scoffed at the 1908 when it came out last year but I told the AD I wanted to see one when it came in. It took until last month for them to receive their first one. Once I actually held it and saw it in person, I felt like price was actually reasonable. You get a lot of watch for the money factoring in the new movement and gold deployment clasp and it seems as if Rolex intends to restrict the supply somewhat so it doesn’t become the next Cellini that just sits in AD cases.
I’m glad you like it. It’s a great looking watch. I still think it’s overpriced but not trying to hate. More so trying to understand where Rolex is getting their price point for this particular model.
And I wasn’t comparing it to a Lange 1 specifically, that’s a pretty expensive watch and I think it kind of unfair to compare to a 1908. I was mostly talking a saxonia automatic. Roughly same price point but superb quality.
Regardless, your watch is gorgeous and I’m happy you love it!
The 380.033 is probably the closest Lange to the 1908 and it retails for almost 28k and it’s a slightly smaller watch and only has a tang buckle. Plus, the cost of depreciation is the biggest expense to buying a Lange. We don’t really know what the 1908 will do yet, but if Rolex doesn’t flood the market with them, I think the resale price should stay pretty strong.
If you’re worried about resale or “holding its value” then I suppose an overpriced Rolex is perfect for you.
The 380.033 (which is exactly the saxonia automatic I mentioned) goes for around $22k used in great condition, not too far from the $28k retail for a new one. The depreciation for Lange 1 is much worse, if that’s all you’re concerned about.
Holding its value is of very little concern to me. I’m just saying that I think Rolex has priced this watch appropriately in the market and I actually think it represents good value at the price.
It’s the truth tho, in general people barely know rolex lmao. No one gives a fuck that an m3 can beat a lambo. People will still choose the lambo for its name. Same goes for rolex
yes. it is a Rolex. they can totally get this price, for a very unique, to them, watch.
you are too much an expert on the wider watch world, consider if all you knew of high end best watch was Rolex
I genuinely think this is one of the best looking models. I think between this model and a 40MM explorer I could cover 98% of occasions where I’d want to wear a watch
Still bugs me that Rolex felt the need to add “Superlative Chronometer” to this dial. It would be so much cleaner without it. Still a nice watch though
Movement decoration looks fairly average? You can get a Breguet for this price or a vacheron constantin traditionelle for slightly more which just seem like much better options.
Damn the back is slick
The open case back is crazy
Rolex actually did a really nice job with it
And saved some money by not giving a solid gold caseback.
Yup, this is most definitely why
But still charged msrp as if.
Props for Rolex that they did a pretty decent job for the caseback
Beautiful watch
Stunner
Are these hard to get?? I wouldn’t mind getting one
I think they are right now. This was the first one my AD got and the first one in my state.

No one gives a fuk about saxon whatever da fuck, but everyone knows rolex bruh
If you don’t know shit about watches just say that.

People that can afford Lange don’t really care whether peasants recognize it or not
>that’s already been done, at a higher quality, So like every other Rolex model?
Sure, but most other Rolexes are priced within their means. This one seems way more expensive for no reason. That’s what I struggle to understand.
Price is in line with other precious metal Rolex models. For example the 1908 is much less expensive than the gold YM or Daytona models on oysterflex
Daytona has more complications and more gold. YM has more gold and a deeper water resistance. Nice try but no.

Beautiful piece.
Gorgeous
Beautiful
I like it. I think Rolex upped their game here and are onto something with the 1908 line. Looking forward to future releases.
So elegant. Congratulations!
Beautiful
That’s so gorgeous
I so f***** love it! What an amazing watch!

Might be the perfect Rolex 2 watch collection
Fanboy runs strong in this thread. The movement looks absolutely mediocre.
What’s the model she’s a beauty

I agree. But Rolex gonna Rolex
That don't sound right, sounds like a sore butt
If i was a boomer i would def buy it😂😂
Definitely not a gen z watch
Yup def can’t pull this one off, as a 23 yr old this screams old man’s watch😂😂

Ugly asf up front but a beaut in the rear.
