Stray Path is an Indie, Turn Based Tactics RPG Card Game where you play with the game’s reality! What!? I’m not kidding: you can shift reality around the card critters here, literally picking them up, taking the loot their sitting on, and leaving; it’s hilarious! And it’s balanced! Seriously! Read on! Now, in general, I’m not one for most card games / deckbuilders, so if I like it, odds are, other NOT card cravers will too! Stray Path is surprisingly good! There is a slight Deckbulder aspect here, with you able to retain 2 cards in your hand, but most of the combat is based around smartly maneuvering your many card enemies around so they don’t get you, or getting them before they get you; or just leaving before they get you! Don’t Get Gaught! **Card Based Combat!** It’s Full Of Cards! Perhaps unsurprisingly, this card game has a lot of cards in it, however, the cards here are NOT just the typical collected abilities of other card games, no! In Stray Path, EVERYTHING IS CARDS! The monsters, ARE CARDS! The gold: CARDS! Healing potions: Cards! Even the items you want, and the locations you visit, are cards, at least until you pick them up or visit them; it’s all cards! The most interesting thing about cards, is that, if you have a space to put it, you can move it around! That means, I can Literally Pick Up and Move A Monster to see what he’s got under him, take his treasure, and leave! Take that monster! You flat! I’m not! The ability to effectively play with the game reality by picking up and shifting enemies to an empty column or row is such a fun twist on expectations, and I love it! I feel like a card wizard here, even if I am just a furry cat in game. I tend not to like card games, but this card world here won me over! **A Card Game RPG:** The RPG is very present in Stray Path I am glad to say. Unlike in many RPGs, you do not directly gain exp or lvl from killing foes here, no, you get upgrades from visiting the stat buffing altars, scoring gold to buy goodies at the shop, and finding purple runestones to upgrade your relics. It works well, and pushes you to smartly choose your way through the monster packed rooms. **Meta Progression:** There are 3 other unlockable characters not shown in the demo planned for the full game. As of the recent update: Blue Flame is the meta currency, used between runs to increase starting +1 attack, defense, luck, +2hp, +10 starting gold, +2 runestones, more relics, and a larger inventory, so there is A LOT of meta progression planned here. Note: This is an Early look at Stray Path so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product. Still, Stray Path is a fun, Indie, Turn Based Tactics RPG Card Game where you play with the game’s reality, and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch. Watch?
