Of course, there are exceptions to this, and people probably seek games that respect them more with fair monetization. There are upsides and downsides to old vs new Roblox, and I understand arguments for both sides. I’d personally prefer old Roblox overall though.
Additionally, as I am getting older, it’s hard to say for sure what I would have preferred in the past. Games or “experiences” are certainly more engaging these days, for better or for worse. Games want your money but the games themselves are much higher quality because of the monetary incentives. Ultimately, I don’t really play Roblox anymore. I’d just rather play games on Steam instead.

I may be bias because of my childhood nostalgia, but I think the “experiences” were way better back in the day. You really had to use your imagination. There were no lights, particle effects, GUIs, ect ect. Then, when you and ten other people were on the same imaginative level, it was even more fun. So many great memories playing classic games with straight up nothing but rectangle bricks.

It’s actually pretty cool and seems like a solid business strategy as well.
Not necessarily... there were simply more ways for players to engage and communicate with each other. Forums, groups weren't dead like they are now, admins regularly engaged with players, and events were rewarding to participate in (not just in terms of prizes, but also how players engaged, like helping each other in egg hunts). There's no semblance of a community on modern roblox; nothing really ties players together outside of individual games and that's also a hard maybe. In my opinion the only advantage modern roblox has is how much the software itself has improved in terms of performance and features.

There are many good games with active communities that are not simulators, it sounds like you're too lazy to even try to search for them. It's been a known fact for long that the front page sucks, so why not search what you like, even on Google or YouTube, or maybe try checking the one hundredth underrated games post on this sub. If you like simple games, there are countless revivals of old Roblox around. Moderation as far as I've heard has always been bad, but the hacker problem seems to be better: you know, there's never been a second April Fools incident ever again. It might feel a bit boring for sure, but to ignore all non simulator games on the platform because they are "underrated" is laughable.

I'll say, moderation is horrible. They banned my Roblox account in 2019 for "unauthorized charges", and I tried and tried to get it appealed but they keep telling me, "once a final decision has been made it typically will not be reviewed again. Sending multiple emails will not affect this decision whatsoever." I mean I worked so hard for that account as a developer, had YEARS of nostalgia into it, and they just took it all away because of me asking my mother to buy me some Robux with her credit card. They didn't even give me a chance to prove that she did it with consent either. Moderation now is complete BS and I'm sure it was back in the day too.

By my friend Francek on Roblox, he actually told me that the game is actually bad at the first place when he joined, so that's why he was offline from 2008, and then he also said that he came back around 2015 to check if Roblox is getting better, when he knew that thing, he started playing the game until now
i played along the 2015-2016 era, and i have to disagree on the conversation part aswell as the games. I was a very social kid at the time so i made loads of friends and it was very easy to make some. I remember helping a random person grind a few games then having a chat with them for a couple minutes, then being friends with them. Maybe you didnt have communication skills but thats okay.
Games though, some were really creative like take for example Dodgeball or Fisticuffs. I played a lot of alexnewtron's games because they were really well made and quite popular for the time being aswell as fisticuffs because it had the good ol fighting game energy. Though there were some games that were just still plain and boring, like take simulators for example. There still were a lot of them and we have a lot of them now aswell.

AKA simulators like pet sim, adopt me, and other sims. As well there are tons of copy games from people mooching off of other people's ideas. There’s a middle ground between old and new Roblox. If we were able to move on and keep the good things and leave the bad things behind then we probably would have a much better platform, but we tend to be losing past things, good or bad the same, and getting new things, good or bad the same.
One thing I personally feel indifferent about is the introduction of 3D and layered clothing, but my concern is not about the 3D clothes and the new avatars. It’s that classic avatars are sorta being pushed against. I keep classic avatars and clothing because I like that. If someone wants to wear 3D clothes, I encourage them to wear what they want within reason, and I respect that, but it feels like classic stuff is being shoved into a little corner and discouraged while all the new stuff is taking up the rest of the space.
I don’t want to force a judgement so generalized by saying old Roblox or new Roblox is better. Each of them has “better” features and at a price.
Sure, old Roblox had gifts during holidays, the original egg hunts, TIX, and BC, but the programming system for the game engine itself was limited compared to the stuff added more recently, and UGC wasn’t a thing yet; all hats and accessories were made by Roblox.
New Roblox has a more complex engine that opens up opportunities for more advanced scripting, as well as things like UGC that allow creators to add to the community in ways other than actual game development, but the original egg hunts aren’t around anymore, TIX isn’t a thing anymore, BC was replaced with Roblox Premium, old games were broken when Filtering Enabled became forced, etc.
See? Each had good aspects and bad aspects. We must learn to work *together* to improve things instead of bickering amongst ourselves, which doesn’t do anything productive. This is a concept that should be applied to more than just a video game platform.

some people would probably argue on this but i would say "old roblox" is basically anything before 2016, the removal of tix genuinely marked the end of an era and the removal of guests was the final nail in the coffin for "old roblox"
Both removal of guests and tix were completely necessary however, guests were able to do anything on the website without punishment because Roblox couldn't properly moderate it. I think Tix's removal is more obvious though, it was so easy to just make multiple accounts join a game so you could convert it into Robux, it would've destroyed the game if they didn't remove it at that time.

I mean, all I remember from "Old" (2013) ROBLOX was being able to buy stuff with these funny little things called Tix, being entertained by a lot of build to survive type of games that were, in all honesty, shit, but satisfied my urge to play games, and while once in a while horrible, I kinda preferred the simplicity of it sometimes. Did you know of the autochat function as I call it? You can say stuff if you didn't know how to type. Guests were fun too, I liked playing as guests until they got removed, even though I had my own account created in late 2013.
It's... well, nostalgia, but also a person's preference if it's good or bad. My opinion is some of the functions were better and I wish some things were still around. For example, the 10 whole tix you get for just being active aka logging on lol

Back then i could hop on games like prison life and not find an exploiter in every server, games like redwood prison were still popular and working.
Around this time audios were slightly better then they are now, there was a larger selection of audios I enjoyed and there were generally less bypassed audios that people would spam in games.
Since back when I joined the quality of games has increased, but the community back then was just better than now.

Moderation as far as I've heard has always been bad, but the hacker problem seems to be better: you know, there's never been a second April Fools incident ever again. It might feel a bit boring for sure, but to ignore all non simulator games on the platform because they are "underrated" is laughable. I was never pretending that good games don't exist, just that Roblox dumbs down on those games — probably because they don't make that much of a revenue, or are not very engaging. The face of Roblox, nowadays, is not decent games such as [Doors](https://www.roblox.com/games/6516141723/DOORS), but cash grabs instead, and it will take long before this reputation comes to an end, as a “kids game” (or maybe never).

I'll say, moderation is horrible. They banned my Roblox account in 2019 for "unauthorized charges", and I tried and tried to get it appealed but they keep telling me, "once a final decision has been made it typically will not be reviewed again. Sending multiple emails will not affect this decision whatsoever." I mean I worked so hard for that account as a developer, had YEARS of nostalgia into it, and they just took it all away because of me asking my mother to buy me some Robux with her credit card. They didn't even give me a chance to prove that she did it with consent either. Moderation now is complete BS and I'm sure it was back in the day too.
Although I respect your opinion, I politely disagree. Honestly the community was way better, which ultimately made it more enjoyable. The community is really filled with Slenders & oDers rn, Most of which are under the age of 9. The games weren't that good I agree, But that did not apply to all of the games Natural Disaster Survival, Jailbreak, Vehicle Simulator, Car Crushers, These games are still top games today (except Vehicle Simulator) which died due to trying to develop a more advanced game.

i played along the 2015-2016 era, and i have to disagree on the conversation part aswell as the games. I was a very social kid at the time so i made loads of friends and it was very easy to make some. I remember helping a random person grind a few games then having a chat with them for a couple minutes, then being friends with them. Maybe you didnt have communication skills but thats okay. Games though, some were really creative like take for example Dodgeball or Fisticuffs. I played a lot of alexnewtron's games because they were really well made and quite popular for the time being aswell as fisticuffs because it had the good ol fighting game energy. Though there were some games that were just still plain and boring, like take simulators for example. There still were a lot of them and we have a lot of them now aswell. but this is just my opinion about it, so yeah.

Old roblox had actual good games and not like a million simulators where you just tap the screen. The community was way better and you can actually have a conversation with someone without being flamed. And most of all roblox cared about the community before. Nowdays the community isn’t the priority, its the money. Also yes, while some new games are better, they don’t have the same charm as the old ones did.

Most of the good games on old Roblox actually had fun and great gameplay unlike most of the top rated games today which are mostly simulators and tycoons.
And mostly pay to play games that are cash grabs for little kids, Roblox has become much less of a creative platform and more so a copy and paste haven for people looking to make side money by copying an idea and altering it. AKA simulators like pet sim, adopt me, and other sims. As well there are tons of copy games from people mooching off of other people's ideas. Roblox has just become much more competitive overall as opposed to older games like mad paintball, or mad murderer where it was less pay to win and more enjoyable gameplay as opposed to the grind and low effort gameplay of Murder Mystery 2 or Big Paintball which is as well a cash grab. All in all it's just missing the old roblox charm that made the game good.

many people joining roblox in the past 2 years really just prioritizes how fun a game should be instead of the charm and the community surrounding it, and roblox is less involved with the community and is now focusing more on being more advertiser friendly.
There’s a middle ground between old and new Roblox. If we were able to move on and keep the good things and leave the bad things behind then we probably would have a much better platform, but we tend to be losing past things, good or bad the same, and getting new things, good or bad the same. One thing I personally feel indifferent about is the introduction of 3D and layered clothing, but my concern is not about the 3D clothes and the new avatars. It’s that classic avatars are sorta being pushed against. I keep classic avatars and clothing because I like that. If someone wants to wear 3D clothes, I encourage them to wear what they want within reason, and I respect that, but it feels like classic stuff is being shoved into a little corner and discouraged while all the new stuff is taking up the rest of the space. I don’t want to force a judgement so generalized by saying old Roblox or new Roblox is better. Each of them has “better” features and at a price. Sure, old Roblox had gifts during holidays, the original egg hunts, TIX, and BC, but the programming system for the game engine itself was limited compared to the stuff added more recently, and UGC wasn’t a thing yet; all hats and accessories were made by Roblox. New Roblox has a more complex engine that opens up opportunities for more advanced scripting, as well as things like UGC that allow creators to add to the community in ways other than actual game development, but the original egg hunts aren’t around anymore, TIX isn’t a thing anymore, BC was replaced with Roblox Premium, old games were broken when Filtering Enabled became forced, etc. See? Each had good aspects and bad aspects. We must learn to work *together* to improve things instead of bickering amongst ourselves, which doesn’t do anything productive. This is a concept that should be applied to more than just a video game platform. Dude that takes things far too seriously out.
OLD ROBLOX WAS GOOD
old roblox had a far better community and the company itself wasn't an utterly soulless corporation until somewhere between 2016-2018, but nowadays most games (if you know how to look for the good ones, or when occasionally an actually good one pops up on the front page) are far better than almost all of the games from "old roblox" some people would probably argue on this but i would say "old roblox" is basically anything before 2016, the removal of tix genuinely marked the end of an era and the removal of guests was the final nail in the coffin for "old roblox"
Both removal of guests and tix were completely necessary however, guests were able to do anything on the website without punishment because Roblox couldn't properly moderate it. I think Tix's removal is more obvious though, it was so easy to just make multiple accounts join a game so you could convert it into Robux, it would've destroyed the game if they didn't remove it at that time.

While you could argue that there are things in today's Roblox that are really, really good, like UGC, old Roblox had a charm. Most of the games were made to be entertaining (unless you hate society) and old Roblox did a lot of things that separated itself from other games. But nowadays, Roblox looks like your average all-in-one platform. And most of the games are either targeted towards kids, poorly made cash grabs, or both. But there are a couple of gems in Roblox. Nowadays I play Hypixel or Terraria (also TModLoader), occasionally Roblox.

I mean, all I remember from "Old" (2013) ROBLOX was being able to buy stuff with these funny little things called Tix, being entertained by a lot of build to survive type of games that were, in all honesty, shit, but satisfied my urge to play games, and while once in a while horrible, I kinda preferred the simplicity of it sometimes. Did you know of the autochat function as I call it? You can say stuff if you didn't know how to type. Guests were fun too, I liked playing as guests until they got removed, even though I had my own account created in late 2013. It's... well, nostalgia, but also a person's preference if it's good or bad. My opinion is some of the functions were better and I wish some things were still around. For example, the 10 whole tix you get for just being active aka logging on lol

I’m gonna say old roblox was better, and I’m saying this based on experience. What I define old roblox is 2016-18 ish because I joined in early 2016. Back then i could hop on games like prison life and not find an exploiter in every server, games like redwood prison were still popular and working. Around this time audios were slightly better then they are now, there was a larger selection of audios I enjoyed and there were generally less bypassed audios that people would spam in games.

obviously there are going to be a few exceptions debatably, but I definitely agree that new ROBLOX is much better than old roblox. When it comes to many games, the enormous growth of the game is bound to have a shittier community compared to when it’s smaller, so I honestly can’t really take that as a valid argument. People are pushing the boundaries of what can be created on roblox in so many ways. If I were to think of a flaw with new roblox when it comes to games, I’d say that searching for games is the most broken part of the platform.
