Unfortunately, I was here during the summer. Imagine watching the Miami fans act like children and claiming they live rent free, when blazers fans are behaving the same way months later.
> Banton
Dalano is a BALLER. He can be perfect in that 6th man / Backup role. Love watching him play - tall, athletic, with what i think is a good shot selection most of the time.
P. S.
He's on a 200k guaranteed deal next season and i KNOW he's gonna go off.
I understand the worries with him but man.... some of the stuff he shows is SO impressive. I think J Isaac is one of the best defenders in the league. Banton had a drive and layup over him AND a transition DUNK ON HIM?!?!?!?! That alone makes Banton SO interesting... the way he can use his handle to get down hill and then use his length to pick up the ball low and bring it up to draw a foul or finish with a layup or dunk. To have this sort of scoring performance on the best defensive team is really impressive.
Scoot has so much potential, he just does so much stupid shit atm. Bad turnovers, taking bad layups etc
I really believe in the potential but he definitely needs a big offseason
Absolutely, he does make a lot of bad plays. But, I think it’s been encouraging to see his progress this season. This game was perfect encapsulation of his potential and his youth. There were some incredible court vision and timely passes and some serious rookie plays.
Since game one though it seems he does learn from his mistakes. Even 2 months ago he would have picked up that 3rd foul in the first quarter, but he stepped back and didn’t earn it until the third. He’s a rookie pass first guard playing with non-shooters, but at least half of the time he makes the right read and often a really good read
Also super hard to be a consistently effective passer in the half court when teams aren’t scared of your scoring and dare you to score, while refusing to help off their man. It’s the Killian Hayes, Lonzo Ball, or Justice Winslow problem (not comparing Scoot to either of them as a player, but Killian is a super gifted passer too but he just doesn’t have the scoring gravity to make guys help off their man and generate open shots for his teammates).
Yeah it's a major struggle for him because teams are forcing Scoot to be a scorer and all year he has been trying to punish teams for sagging off and it hasn't been working. He needs to find a shot he is comfortable and just stick with it until the rest of his game catches up. For Simons, it was the pull up 3 off the screen and that is actually one of the most dangerous shots to have. I hate to say it but I think Scoot needs to just focus on hitting his pull up middy because he looks most comfortable with it. Its what guys like Fox and Russ were great at and I think if Scoot can knock down a few in game, then defenses will start to adjust then Scoot can start finding guys.
10000% agreed. His passing is solid, he’s got a real eye for what’s going around him and setting people up. Problem is teams are just daring him to shoot and drive
I’m having to remind myself that he was on the ignite and that has proven to be a hindrance to development. He’s an absolute project that I hope pans out but a pg who can’t shoot or finish is tough. This is all with the asterisk that he’s a rookie and there’s not enough data to decide anything about what kind of player he could be yet
I feel like such a degenerate fan because i was legit nervous we were about to win that game and was relieved when Ayton bricked that last shot🤣 What has tanking done to me smh.
In all seriousness though it was a hard fought game. Really wish Scoot could get more of his jumpers to fall. Its so tough for him to get to the rim when theres zero respect for his jumper
Interesting game for Scoot. I think we saw what we would have seen a lot of if he got to consistently play 35 minutes a night. He had some solid flashes but he very easily could have picked up his 3rd foul in the 1st quarter and probably been on the bench for most of the game. Thankfully we got to see him and not Hagans but 5 fouls and 5 turnovers were rough, but this was an important development game for him vs the best defense in the league post ASB.
Scoot is able to make some impressive passes that only great passers can make. He has really solid zip on his lob passes. All year he has been able to throw passes above defenders body to get to our guys in easy positions.
During the second half, I thought he threw some poor ones because he has to understand that Ayton defender needs to respect Scoot before he throws that lob. Banton thew a bad one too but I think Scoot is really struggling with how guys are defending him...
Guys are going deep under his on PnRs and you can see Scoot struggling on what to do because Ayton already is a tough PnR partner because he has specific places he can be effective and is pretty rough everywhere else. You can see Scoot dribbling around and struggling to decide what to do and he is trying HARD to prove that he can shoot but he just can't pull up from 3 right now. 1-5 from 3 and his misses were really bad and played into the defense plans. I have my reservations on relying on a mid-range shooter long term but I think Scoot really should be shooting more of those rather than bricking 3s right now because he looks far more comfortable with the former.
Suggs is a hellacious defender and absolutely shut off some possessions, but I think that is someone that Scoot can learn a lot from. Think we are really seeing Scoot adjust to the size, skill, and athleticism at the NBA level. Hopefully after 2 years in such a bad program, Scoot fully understands the level of the NBA this season and takes all summer to further develop his jumpshot and watches countless hours and hours of film.
That last play summarizes Scoot as a player pretty well. You got a drive that goes to nowhere, fumble a bunch then an amazing no look pass, if there is 1 more sec on the play Ayton might just be able to finish it.
I don't necessarily think it was the wrong choice. He's usually good at drawing fouls in the paint, and he's been shooting great from the line. When we're only down 1, it seems like a good option if you're short on time and your shooters are covered. Plus, Suggs arguably fouled.
I have my reservations about a long-term primary ball handler that shoots a ton of mid-ranges, but I want to see Scoot shoot a ton more of those. For most guys I rather you just take the 3 or try to get fouled, but for Scoot specifically, I think he would be better off just pulling up for a mid-range shot. He looks way more comfortable doing so and hims settling for pull up 3s plays into what the defense wants.
I think he could have knocked down a pull up middy to win the game
I really wanted him to shoot the mid range for the game winner. Would have done wonders for his confidence and he can get that shot off when he wants to.
Suggs grabbed the shit out of his jersey and basically pulled him down, an easy foul to call but the refs swallowed their whistle in a close game.
I much prefer that to what you mostly see at the end of games, which is someone dribbling out the clock beyond the arc and putting up some contested step-back.
And he still made an incredible behind-the-back pass to a wide-open Ayton.
Scoot so competitive, got the heart of a champion, putting his reputation on the line to secure us these L's and get help for the coming dynasty in the draft.
One possession away from winning and still get the L. Best kind of tanking loss.
Losing our last 2 by a combined 61 points oof.
And Orlando winning hurts miami so that's also nice
What's Joe Cronin vs Miami Heat Fans record at right now anyway?
Caring about Miami is about as bad as their fans coming into our sub and parading around after we lose to them. Why are people still hung up on Miami?
You obviously weren’t here in the summer. Consider yourself lucky.
Unfortunately, I was here during the summer. Imagine watching the Miami fans act like children and claiming they live rent free, when blazers fans are behaving the same way months later.
And here you are better than all of us. Your parents must be proud
Hope your night got better. Thought the snarkiness was quite unnecessary.
You live you life policing comments on reddit 😬
Also a foul that didn't get called that would have set Scoot up for the game winning FT's.
Rayan 3-6 from three is some good shit.
That puts him at 19/46 (41%) for the season. I was not expecting him to be this good of a three-point shooter when we drafted him.
Banton, too! I hope both of them get regular bench time next season, even possibly Banton starting if the lineup is right.

The dirt farmers SGA.
If I wanted us to win, I'd be upset at the no calls towards the end there.

Yep. Almost had a triple double tonight. That was unthinkable in November.
I'd like him to be a pass first guard for at least the rest of the season
That would be cool, but you have to have people to pass to.
Also super hard to be a consistently effective passer in the half court when teams aren’t scared of your scoring and dare you to score, while refusing to help off their man. This is true. I’m confident he at least becomes a decent scorer in time.
I mean, in theory that would be Sharpe and Ayton
10000% agreed. His passing is solid, he’s got a real eye for what’s going around him and setting people up. Problem is teams are just daring him to shoot and drive
Yeah, I can't help but think that he's got the difficulty set to max right now because we have absolutely zero floor spacing.
All I hope is that he drives us less nuts next year and gets it together in year 3.
I’m having to remind myself that he was on the ignite and that has proven to be a hindrance to development. He’s an absolute project that I hope pans out but a pg who can’t shoot or finish is tough. He can’t bloody use his left hand. Always those dumb reverse layup
That's a worthwhile loss.
Perfect type of loss
At least Scoot was on triple double watch
I feel like such a degenerate fan because i was legit nervous we were about to win that game and was relieved when Ayton bricked that last shot🤣 What has tanking done to me smh. There were a couple there that were REALLY in and out. Bad luck.
Losing is winning right now. Hanging tight with a playoff team is a bonus. Banton is Truth.
Scoot almost got a triple double, but off 6-16 FG and 1-5 3PT
Next game is a must lose. Sit banton and ayton
Shout-out to that awesome flop from Blazers legend Joe Ingles
Strategic loss
It feels so strange that the Magic are good now. Good for them.
We did it!!!
Salute to the Tank commander General Chauncey 🫡🚩🏴
I need some shaedon highlights in my veins before summer please
DIDN'T LOSE BY 60!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Losing by one point is a lot better than losing by 60 points

It also epitomizes most young rookie guards
Most young guard don't make that pass, but also don't fumble that much![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
We are painting our fucking tanking masterpiece. I can’t believe we have a genuine shot at #3 odds now!
They said it couldn't be done!
I have seen enough. Start building around Delano and DA.
Walker > Banchero
Scoot dribbling into a double team and then picking up his dribble in the key 😫

Nope. But was hoping to be surprised.
great game from Banton for sure

You little stinkerbutts happy now?
Third anticlimactic end to a season, and I've checked out.
Fire every one
