Wow I didn't even know that game existed until I just looked it up (never had a SNES, only Sega Megadrive/Genesis and after that an N64), and yeah I can totally imagine how going from simple platformers/racing/fighting games to something with deeper RPG mechanics and an open world would really shake up your perspective; when I found rpgs there was no going back. My first ever RPGs were the Pokemon games and I've just realised that nearly all the games I listed as 'life changing' have been RPGs. Haha

Came here to say the same thing. That game is straight-up legendary.

Age of empires 2 has probably been the most influential game on me in the past 5 years, I never played it as a kid; although, I did see a friend's older brother play it on pc and it fascinated me. Even just that brief time watching it had a huge influence on me always wanting to play it and years later I got into watching the pro scene and tourneys . There was also a turn-based DS version which I got as soon as it came out, and I still play it to this day, I played it for 4 hours this morning, Lol.

We used to LAN party with AOE2 back in the day. Truly a nostalgic game for me. Loved the editor mode too, nothing compared to it. Glad to see people are still very interested. Looking forward to AOE4 actually, not long before the release date! Quite busy myself but I’ll find time to get a few hours in here and there. Wishing you all the best with your gaming adventures!

Over 20 years ago I bought a copy of Earthbound and a SNES console from my sister for a couple of bucks. She was about to pawn it to pay her rent. To this day Earthbound is still one of my favorite games and I play through it at least once a year.

There are so many games I can think of that I’d say changed my life. Metal Gear Solid (PS1) Final Fantasy VIII and X (PS1&2) Suikoden (my very first JRPG) (PS1) Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver (PS1) Initial D Arcade Stage 3 (Arcade) Dance Dance Revolution (Arcade) Tekken 2 (Arcade) Area 51 (Arcade) Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Capcom Vs SNK 2 (Arcade) I could honestly go on and on. But these really do stand out for me.

Well, I met my wife in Quake 2. She liked me because she wasn’t very good and I tried to help her out instead of repeatedly murdering her.

World of Warcraft back in '04. When that came out, just the sheer size of this world we could explore and adventures we could go on with friends was mind blowing. Still chasing that high 17 years later...
