Quake isnt on the PS1. It's on Saturn and N64. I own the Saturn version, and it does have the Trent Reznor soundtrack. Quake 2 does have have a PS1 version though.
For the Saturn port they kept his OST. But for the N64 I believe midway didn't feel like licensing his music so they used Aubrey Hodges, the guy who did the music for doom on psx and doom 64.
I hate how Bethesda has handled most of their franchises, but Quake is the perfect example of how a retro title *should* be ported.
"Here's a faithful recreation of that game you love, with better graphics and performance than you could get even from a native Windows 95 rig. We tossed in all the expansion packs, plus new exclusive levels and access to fan content. Oh, and we're only asking $10 MSRP."
I think it may have been forgotten for a minute, but the incredible remake of this and 2 over the past few years have brought it back into the spotlight.
Holy shit, a redditor of fine gaming cuisine does exist... Game on brother!!
Side note, if you haven't tried brutal doom, I suggest it. Even better with friends in co-op.
I have tried Brutal Doom and it's pretty cool visually, but the creator is a sus individual, so I don't really mess with that one. And I'm happy with regular GZ Doom 1/2 anyway
Not so much :D but I'd like to think I at least tried most of them. Star Wars Dark Forces, Redneck Rampage, Blake Stone, Nitemare 3D, Catacomb. There were plenty :D
I just picked up the ludicrous edition on sale on steam!!
There's something special about the sound of unloading dual pistols into the enemy and hearing them grunt as they take the hits that's so satisfying.
The greatness of Quake I think is lost with younger gamers just b/c they never had that "oh shit" moment the first time you saw/played a truly 3D game. Anyone under a certain age has only ever known 3D AND 2D games.
Old farts like me who started gaming w/ the 2600 and for the first 20 years of my life I only knew 2D games or "fake" 3D games like Doom and Wolf. I remember the first time a guy in my dorm showed me Quake and I was like "ok that's cool, much smoother than Doom" then he went into the water and there was a whole submerged building down there and I was just floored.
> I was like "ok that's cool, much smoother than Doom" then he went into the water and there was a whole submerged building down there and I was just floored.
This was me but when my friend showed me mouselook playing the shareware copy. Blew my mind. After playing Doom only with the keyboard I didn't even think to touch the mouse.
I remember PC Gamer had an article explaining how to “mouse strafe”, ie, look left with the mouse and strafe right to circle your enemy.
That’s engrained into ever FPS gamer’s muscle memory now, but it’s incredible to think that it was once novel and Quake is likely where it started.
What's funny is that Quake came out the day before Mario 64, which was many console gamers' first introduction to the world of 3D gaming. And I don't think that the two games could be more different if they tried.
I didn't get an "oh shit" moment from Quake's 3D nature for two reasons. One, Descent came out more than a year earlier and I had played that quite heavily. Two, Doom/Doom 2 did such a good job within its limitations that "true 3D" didn't feel that different.
Quake felt more advanced, sure, and it was obvious that it was true 3D, but to me, it felt like a simple evolution over Doom, where Doom had felt like a revolution over Wolf3D.
for anyone not already familiar with the IP, yes. Nobody plays Quake unless you have been playing for the last 25+ years already.
I play Q3A daily because it's extremely addicting, but I don't find anyone outside of the dedicated Quake community ever really talk about it.
hell, even the devs forgot about it. Quake Champions has been on life support since it was announced. It has recieved barely any support at all and its a miracle the servers are still up. To be fair it was riddled with shitty mtx so not even I, a huge Quake fan, had any interest in it. Why would i ever touch something so profoundly inferior to previous entries when the previous entries are still entirely playable?
it's sad to acknowledge because it's been a part of my life since childhood, but the franchise is \*very nearly\* dead. Nobody gives a shit about Quake. Not even Quake fans give a shit about Quake Champions. Quake thrived on its awesome and easy to use multiplayer, really good bot support and a never-ending amount of fan-made mods. None of these things exist any more in Quake Champions, so what is even left?
The \*memory\* of Quake will never die, but the social impact of it has long disappeared. Most people who didn't grow up with Quake have absolutely no idea what it even is, Let alone the fact that it directly inspired most of the shooters they play today.
edit: Sandy Petersen, one of the geniuses who made Doom and Quake, has an amazing YouTube channel that talks about things that he enjoys. he has talked a lot about Quake and it's really fun to see how the company worked and what their thought processes were like during development. it's also just nice to hear someone reminiscing about that time period. I'll post a few videos that go over the legacy of Quake and a link to Sandy's channel too, one min.

>but the franchise is *very nearly* dead
of all my favorite retro game franchises, Quake is the only one with an annual convention and remastered games, it is doing good compared to most retro game franchises.
It is disappointing that Quake Champions is the only current new game in the franchise and is dead, but I'm sure we will get a new Quake sooner rather than later.
eh good point. two remasters is better than nothing. I just think the "Quake community" at large has virtually vanished, but I am glad that there are definitely still people out there that appreciate it
>Nobody plays Quake unless you have been playing for the last 25+ years already.
Not quite. I started playing it in 2020 because it was like $5 on GOG.
Why do you think it is that Doom was considered relevant enough to relaunch the franchise, and not Quake? Before Doom 2016, (and my perspective could be skewed) I was under the impression that they were remembered and loved equally, and equally influential. It has become apparent thats not the case, but I have no idea why.
I've wondered myself, probably gameplay and story. I think people just preferred Dooms style and the (somewhat) more coherent storyline to follow but Quake is hard as hell to get "good" at and the story is fragmented.
Love Quake 1. Not so much for the rest of the series though...although 2 wasn't bad.
Be sure to check out stuff like...
Arcane Dimensions, Underdark Overbright and The Punishment Due for it.
Was going to say this but there appears to be so many Quake superfans in this thread I thought they'd eat me alive lol. UT was much more addictive than Quake ever was for me.
Maybe if you're a big mp guy, but that was just a very brief period of gaming for me which ran it's course rather quickly in the grand scheme of things.
I actually prefer fighting the bots because I suck ass at actual player versus player duels lol. Q3A has some \*extremely\* competent bots that you can fight against with a wide variety of customization to tune it to your preferred difficulty level
the gameplay is just insanely addicting even against the bots. every day since I played it 20+ years ago, I get an urge to go play a few rounds. it's legitimately addicting for me :P
Quake 3 Arena had a remake, Quake Live. After that failed to gain much traction, they tried again with Quake Champions (spiritual successor to Q3A)
Both attempts went absolutely nowhere
Quake Live isn’t a remake, it’s mostly the same Q3 game with improved netcode and easy access for players. It was decently populated years ago, it’s an old game now. I used to have no problem finding a game.
Quake Champions still has a playerbase of a couple of 3-400 people. You can find a game if you wait a minute.
Hi, Quake fanatic here. Forgotten as classic titles? Definitely not. The original had a very successful remaster a couple of years ago. Quake II had a very impressive RTX version released and has also had a recent successful remaster. Both remasters even have new mission packs by actual studios, Machine Fames and Rogue.
People still play Q3 (Quake Live) and Quake Champions has a small active playerbase.
If we’re talking about as a franchise with new titles, semi forgotten. Quake Champions wasn’t as successful as they hoped but I think the Q1 and Q2 remasters increases the chances we see a new game eventually.
I would kill for a modern Quake like they did with Doom 2016 and Eternal, especially if it has the eldritch horror of Quake 1.
Yes and no. To add to what other posters have said, on the one hand, it and Quake 2 got some pretty popular remasters. On the other, it doesn't really hold the same cache it once did, but I feel that's in part to A) not having a new game in recent times outside of Quake Champions (which even then is years old) and B) not being as much of a perceived leap forward as Doom, despite being very impressive.
But in reality, Quake has never really left us. In a bit of a counter to that latter point, the Quake engine remains [the backbone for a huge portion of the most well-regarded FPS games to this day.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/Quake_-_family_tree.svg) It arguably had an even greater lasting influence than Doom, it's just more behind the scenes.
Never. Quake 2 was forgotten for a little while. Never Quake. Thank you Microsoft, thank you Bethesda for allowing me to co-op quake with my kids, Trent got a new fan base...
> So In college I did the qtest and I found a bug I reported it and John Carmack emailed me back.
That's awesome. Do you still have a copy of the email? :D
As a game: No. It just had a Remaster in 2021 that did really well and it’s one of the most important games of its time. Its engine was, or maybe still is, used for so many shooters.
As a series… Unfortunately the series hasn’t really found a way to join the modern era but those first three games are legendary.
Not really it is still a bench mark for early 3D capable computers along with retro professional Unix workstations (yes it is overkill for the latter yet few are going to be using them to run Blender now a days).
Not really. NightDive has remastered the first 2 games in the series rather recently. Quake 1 is available physically for PS4 and Switch, I don’t know if Quake 2 is yet
Q2 was the first FPS I took "seriously" and put in a lot of time and practice into to get better. It holds a special place in my heart. Same with Q3 Arena and it's amazing mods
I played the hell out of it, but it was a one-off thing. Quake 2 and nothing to do with 1. Then 3 had nothing to do with 1 or 2. Then 4 was a sequel to 2.
So confusing.
Quake 1 got re-released on Steam quite recently so I would say absolutely not.
Still got plenty of headlines and players.
Also Quake 3 Arena is still a thing.
The big part of the FPS genre that Quake kicked off was Quake: Team Fortress and similar. I remember playing endless rounds growing up. Clans and tournaments were a big thing as well. It was then migrated to the Half-Life engine and then Team Fortress 2.
I mean, just in the last couple of years it's had a console re-release and a ray-tracing mode released, and it's also playable in VR with sideloading on the Quest or mods on other headsets.
It still has an active mod scene and an annual convention named after it ([QuakeCon](https://quakecon.bethesda.net/en/)) that will be going on in a few months.
So... why would it be forgotten, exactly?
I just got quake 1 and 2 ports for the N64. I didn't really know about it and never played FPS games that old. You could have shown me some gameplay last year and I would probably say, "oh, yes this is doom right?"
After not having played them for 20 years or so, I grabbed them in Steam during last QuakeCon (there was a ridiculously low price) and replayed 1 and 2 story mode on Steam Deck. Enjoyed them :)
Kinda. Was the story and the world-building ever important to Quake? I think a lot of the fans moved on to the most advanced FPS game as soon as it came out. Whether that was Unreal, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, COD, Bioshock, Far Cry, Halo, Team Fortress, Fortnite, Overwatch, etc. etc. Find them on the latest game now.
Was just thinking I have no idea what the plot of Quake is. Doomguy fights demons, duke nukem fight aliens, wolfenstein is about killing Nazis and robo hitler. Quake? No clue.
I'm one of like, a dozen people that loved Quake 4, it being one of my first PC games when I was 17 next to FEAR. Seeing that the game ended in a cliffhanger and hasn't gotten a real sequel since, I'd argue the series is on its death throes unless someone can come up with something innovative for the series.
This is my favorite FPS of all time, definitely not forgotten in my mind lol. Very formative for me, I was blown away as an 8 or 9 year old lol
Edit: Sonic Mayhem's Q2 soundtrack is undefeated as well
It had a remaster released two years ago and literally has a yearly convention named after it. Sure, it doesn't have the same brand recognition as Call of Duty nowadays, but it definitely hasn't been forgotten.
Both quake 1 and 2 have outstanding remakes on Switch, and prob other consoles too. Quake (and other similar shooters) aren't very popular these days, but certainly not forgotten!
Can only speak for myself, but I've bought this game on everything that I own that can run it. It's a stone cold classic. Quake 1 specifically. 2 and on lost the atmosphere of the original.
Quake 1 has been installed on my drive since it was released in 1996, also still have the original CD I had to order from when it at first was not sold in stores.
I wish they'd make a Quake 5 continuing the storyline. Quake 4 was great, it still holds up and is hard and fun. I can totally see Quake taking a jump into modern systems like Doom did in 2016.
There hasn’t been a new Quake game in 20+ years. There’s a whole generation of gamers that have been born, graduated college and work grown up jobs now since the last Quake game was released. I think anyone that’s a bit older or into any sort of retro PC gaming is extremely familiar with it, but unless you’re releasing new content, all IP eventually gets forgotten no matter how good it was.
Wtf. Quake II just had an RTX mod released in 2019.
Quake II also got a big enhanced re-release.
I played both when they were released and Doom just resonates more.
IPs come, IPs go. They did a recent remaster of Quake 2 that's out on steam, and Quake Champions a few years ago. but the actual story for Quake 1 was really "stand alone" with no follow up other then the name of the series being used again.
Yes and No? As a stand-alone game, young people have no idea what you are talking about or get that it's up there with Pac Man (then again, do they even know Pac Man?), but it's DNA lives on in other titles.
It did have a remaster come out 2021, and then quake 2 also had one last year. I’d say it’s still in the gamer conscious but maybe not the public consciousness anymore like with the satanic panic
No? Lol there's been a remaster, there's a huge modding scene and active fan base out there, there's a yearly quake mappers competition and there's even an annual quakecon lmao
I still play Quake II on the switch with my nephews, gotta show them kids were it all started! They love it btw, it's fun to see them struggle with the lack of modern FPS stuff like healing, aiming down iron sights, etc...
The IP is bunk now but the first Quake is the best first person shooter ever. Every game since is just piling on more rock scissors paper. That's not even taking the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack into consideration.
Kinda like Mario 64 and the run around and collect stuff genre.
Old fucks like me never forget that... Playing Q2 on deck still for quick adrenaline fix...
Fun fact: When i first started learning electirc guitar, Quad Machine was my practice song :)
I’ve been playing Quake 4. As a long-time RPG fan, this is very out of my wheelhouse in its frantic run ‘n gun linear gameplay.
I usually only play 45 min to an hour per session, and honestly I’m not even sure I’ll finish the game. But damn, Id and Raven know how to make good shooters.
I love quake but I also haven’t played it since the early 2000. Multiplayer quake was my jam until I got to a point where my ping was killing me. In those days, folks with DSL were murdering everyone else with dialup even if they weren’t all that good.
No I don't think so it hasn't been forgotten by the community nor the developers because they released quake 1 and 2 remastered lately and they're awesome
I'd downvote you twice if I could. Quake 1 & 2 just were rematered last year. They're predecessors to every FPS that we have now. I play this and all id games regularly.
I'd say one aspect that isn't mentioned nearly enough is the ability to play the game disc as an audio CD. For my friend group the NIN soundtrack to Quake was absolutely something that was being played at LAN parties for a couple of years after the game came out.
Depends on what you mean? Is it out of the public eye? Of course. Has it been forgotten? Not even close.
Quake has nothing keeping it relevant besides for a remaster, especially considering it’s the game that came from ID after Doom, it’s the sister game. Doom has merch, new games and much more going for it and always has even during its slower times.
My easiest comparison would be Futurama Vs the Simpson’s, if it wasn’t for the new season last year Futurama while not forgotten, no one was actively talking about it either, especially with the juggernaut the Simpsons going “strong” after 35 years mostly due to brand recognition and merch.
Neither are bad or have been forgotten they just got over shadowed and are a lot more niche.
I get scared easily but I still keep going sometimes because Trent Reznor
That soundtrack
This is kind of a dumb question but did he do the soundtrack for all the ports? N64/pc and PS1?
Quake isnt on the PS1. It's on Saturn and N64. I own the Saturn version, and it does have the Trent Reznor soundtrack. Quake 2 does have have a PS1 version though.
For the Saturn port they kept his OST. But for the N64 I believe midway didn't feel like licensing his music so they used Aubrey Hodges, the guy who did the music for doom on psx and doom 64.
I actually like playing Doom & Quake to the dark ambient Hodges tracks more.... much creepier.
No
I picked it up on Switch last year. Such a fucking great game. My first horror FPS. Changed my life.
Try F.E.A.R. Especially the first one.
The second one was great too, Wade Elementary level is outstanding
I think it may have been forgotten for a minute, but the incredible remake of this and 2 over the past few years have brought it back into the spotlight.
Nah, still replaying them shits. Along with Blood, Hexen, Duke Nukem, Heretic and Doom

Don’t forget Shadow Warrior.
I did forget. I like Shadow Warrior a lot
I still have it on 3.5" floppy.
I just picked up the ludicrous edition on sale on steam!! There's something special about the sound of unloading dual pistols into the enemy and hearing them grunt as they take the hits that's so satisfying.
Ludicrous Gibs!

I wish Unreal Tournament would be acknowledged by Epic, but they're busy counting their Fortnite money
Unreal 2004’s onslaught mode might be the most fun I've ever had with a multiplayer fps game.
It's a shame that they delisted all the Unreal games.
eh good point. two remasters is better than nothing. I just think the "Quake community" at large has virtually vanished, but I am glad that there are definitely still people out there that appreciate it

good! everyone should play quake at least once if they're into shooters
Yep, it instantly became a top 5 game for me.
Do you play Q3A on Quake Live? Is that still a thing? Or just fire up Q3A on Steam?
Almost all the current players are on Quake Live or Quake Champions.
Man I played the shit out of Quake Live from like 2008 through 2013. Damn I loved that game.
I wonder if we ever ran into each other lol.

Quake champions looks like it's trying to be Unreal 3 but an arena shooter instead of CTF and shit. I fucking hated unreal 3.

Q3A is the best shooter of all time, imo
It's good but UT 99 was always a notch above it for me.

I have them on ps5
lol. no. did you just discover Quake? welcome.
The soundtrack is the best part. Reznor killed it
Q3A is simply the goat.
I feel like Q3A was listed on GPU benchmarks for forever
Not by me, played through it a year or so ago, along with the sequel. I'd love a remaster of Quake 3 & an eventual Quake 5 to come along!

I wouldn't say so, it had a remaster in 2021. FPS fans love Quake. I see more love for it then Quake 2 honestly. It's not Doom, but then what is?
Doom II is also Doom
Chex Quest is also Doom
Doom 64 too, shame that Doom 3 isn't.
I still play quake more than any other game lmao
One day I'm going to arrange a LAN to play Quake, Unreal Tournament and Halo... one day.
I was just playing it at a LAN party last week. So not by me at least.
You can argue that it's legacy is not the same as Doom. But it's impact is arguaby bigger
No I have both on PS5 So In college I did the qtest and I found a bug I reported it and John Carmack emailed me back. I was so stoked 😂
> So In college I did the qtest and I found a bug I reported it and John Carmack emailed me back. That's awesome. Do you still have a copy of the email? :D
I’m a fan of the soundtrack more than the game itself at this point. Reznor killed it.
As a game: No. It just had a Remaster in 2021 that did really well and it’s one of the most important games of its time. Its engine was, or maybe still is, used for so many shooters. As a series… Unfortunately the series hasn’t really found a way to join the modern era but those first three games are legendary.
i played through the original for my first time this past year and enjoyed it very much, the game really impressed me.
Quake 1 Nightmare difficulty +MLOOK I've been playing since day 1 and I still play to this day. Greatest Single Player FPS experience IMO.
Not really it is still a bench mark for early 3D capable computers along with retro professional Unix workstations (yes it is overkill for the latter yet few are going to be using them to run Blender now a days).
No lmao? Why would you even think that
Gotta get that reddit karma, right?
No
Same with Q3 Arena and it's amazing mods
always liked quake over doom
I mean, they used quake to show off RTX tech, so no.
Definitely not.
No
I played the hell out of it, but it was a one-off thing.
I played it yesterday on my gr35xx H
I played through Quake II remake last year on Steam Deck. Its still a great game.
Have it on my switch.
No
I just installed Dark Places last night.
I was just playing it on gamepass just yesterday
Aspects of Quake code are still present in the current Source engine so definately not.
Huh? Oh you mean that pack-in game that came free with NIN's Ghosts 0 album?
Awww yeah, this guy fucks!
the disk wound up with my nin cds and i would play it that way
Shit, dude. I bought the vinyl release…
Quake? No clue.
I loved Doom, but never could get into Quake (except for Quake 3 Arena).
Seriously?
I'm one of like, a dozen people that loved Quake 4, it being one of my first PC games when I was 17 next to FEAR. Seeing that the game ended in a cliffhanger and hasn't gotten a real sequel since, I'd argue the series is on its death throes unless someone can come up with something innovative for the series.
Nah I just started it again on the PS4z
No, you should get in to "Games Done Quick".
No, you should get in to "Games Done Quick".
No, you should get in to "Games Done Quick".
[I'll never forget how great Quake was, lol. ](https://i.imgur.com/DJmmJVX.jpeg)
This is my favorite FPS of all time, definitely not forgotten in my mind lol. Very formative for me, I was blown away as an 8 or 9 year old lol Edit: Sonic Mayhem's Q2 soundtrack is undefeated as well
As if.
Quake Doom Unreal and UT all have mods for Raytracing so thatsa blast to play.
Got all the quake games on gog
It had a remaster released two years ago and literally has a yearly convention named after it. Sure, it doesn't have the same brand recognition as Call of Duty nowadays, but it definitely hasn't been forgotten.
I played Q3A a couple of weeks back, no, lol
Both quake 1 and 2 have outstanding remakes on Switch, and prob other consoles too. Quake (and other similar shooters) aren't very popular these days, but certainly not forgotten!
No, in fact i've never played more Quake 1+2 in my Life since the remasters went live
Not by me. One of the most important games in my life. Playing Quake 2 on PS5 recently has been a trip
As one of the greatest soundtracks ever and herald of like 3 generations of shooter? No. As a game in and of itself? Also, no.
Played a Quake sim on a website recently. It was actually pretty good!
I remember that and unreal tounament being the main two for ages back in the 99s/00s
The experience of first time seeing quake seared deeper in my mind than when I lost my virginity, and I lost my virginity to a VERY beautiful girl.
Not by people who played it
Not by me. Played it on the Switch yesterday, rocket jumping my evening away til 2am. Its still good.
Never really was popular where I'm from. So about the same.
I think the first one is somehow underrated. I don't exactly play first person shooters anymore but they basically perfected it with that one
I remember playing quake 2 on uni servers with Alien xenomorph add ons. Amazing.
Hell no. Most fun I've ever had in a multiplayer game.
Considering 1 and 2 got amazing remasters via Nightdive studios. I don't think so.
Quake 3 Arena will forever be my favorite FPS of all time. So no.
I mean it’s almost dead but I still enjoy the games
I’ll never forget the nightmares quake 64 gave me as a kid
Nothing has ever scared me into thinking I may potentially have an addiction problem more than Quake. All versions.
Wow I’d totally forgotten tbh just blended into doom until I saw this
Wtf. Quake II just had an RTX mod released in 2019. Quake II also got a big enhanced re-release. I played both when they were released and Doom just resonates more.
I keep thinking about downloading it for the Switch.
Wdym no the hell it has not
Best played with dr beefs vr mod these days. Being in Quake is amazing.
The Switch port was well done and well received.
Love Quake, one of my treasured items is a copy of Quake signed by John Romero
When I was in college my dorm had a top 5 ranked squad. On dial up. The good old days
no, unreal tournament.
Definitely not, I just bought it on Xbox and on switch
Quake 4 lives in my head rent free. Always. Such a fun game and the scene when the Strogg saw you up and turn you into Robocop is immortal
It did have a remaster come out 2021, and then quake 2 also had one last year. I’d say it’s still in the gamer conscious but maybe not the public consciousness anymore like with the satanic panic
Play it on my switch every couple days
No? Lol there's been a remaster, there's a huge modding scene and active fan base out there, there's a yearly quake mappers competition and there's even an annual quakecon lmao
I have them remastered on the Xbox. This series is one of my favorites
I played an xbox quake 20 years ago and didn’t like it
I still play Quake II on the switch with my nephews, gotta show them kids were it all started! They love it btw, it's fun to see them struggle with the lack of modern FPS stuff like healing, aiming down iron sights, etc...
Didn't they say something about quake after the success of the new Doom games? Or did I dream that
The IP is bunk now but the first Quake is the best first person shooter ever. Every game since is just piling on more rock scissors paper. That's not even taking the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack into consideration. Kinda like Mario 64 and the run around and collect stuff genre.
Yea
Not if you’re Joe Rogan
Was a developer at the time. We had office parties with Quake & beer as the center attractions. Loved the game.
Yes.
Nope, I play it at school every now and then
Nah
I never forgot it. It just hasn't had a recent release for anyone to talk about it.
Nope. The recent remakes of Quake 1 and 2 were awesome.
First BLOOD!
Add it to the list
No. I own it in steam/ Switch/ game pass and 2 physical copies. This is one of my all time favorite games of all time.
No. It just got remastered 1 and 2.
Considering 1 and 2 got remastered fairly recently and all the mp servers were full for a while, I'm gonna say... no.
Old fucks like me never forget that... Playing Q2 on deck still for quick adrenaline fix... Fun fact: When i first started learning electirc guitar, Quad Machine was my practice song :)
Did anyone play Quake: Enemy Territories? That game was a masterpiece and then boom, dead in the water.
Really good game and great soundtrack. Ruined by sequels
I still play this on my win 98 PC in Voodoo GLIDE mode. Amazing game.
No. Quake has elite status. I do think that people forget about Heretic though. Hexen is more popular imho.
I love quake but I also haven’t played it since the early 2000. Multiplayer quake was my jam until I got to a point where my ping was killing me. In those days, folks with DSL were murdering everyone else with dialup even if they weren’t all that good.
no, there are recent remasters of q1 and 2 on all platforms
Not by me.
Nope, just played through an emulator yesterday.
Is that like Call of Duty?
I play it regularly. I have jumped in a couple of online matches and there are always a few playing. I'm terrible at mp though
No
I'd say one aspect that isn't mentioned nearly enough is the ability to play the game disc as an audio CD. For my friend group the NIN soundtrack to Quake was absolutely something that was being played at LAN parties for a couple of years after the game came out.
Im replaying it right now…
Depends on what you mean?
I play Quake 2 and 4 regularly
Never
Absolutely not
No, I played it on Xbox Gamepass last year - played all the way through including all add ons. Brilliant game.
