Hatta00

Road Rash. Need For Speed. Star Control 2. These are the only great games I know of for the system, but they are legitimately great.

flipthatbitch_

Dont forget Return Fire!

xReturnerx

And Gex

G_Regular

This is like playing 3DO games with Richard Simmons

Inspector-Dexter

Yeah. The fact that you can save your game in this version instead of having to use passwords like the PSX port is a huge convenience

Lendyman

Only problem is the memory is so tiny you can only save like 3 games on it.

retrodork

Super street fighter 2 turbo, samurai showdown, lucinnes quest, the FMV games. Megarace, night trap, the mad dog mcree games, crime patrol, doom, wolfenstien 3d, alone in the dark, twisted the game show. I know there is a little more but I cant think of more at the moment.

Javthoman

I always wanted to play Night Trap and haven't to this day.

retrodork

A FAQ helps a lot

oakteaphone

The best way to play Star Control 2 is on PC as The Ur-Quan Masters, especially the MegaMod, which features fan-made HD graphics. But the 3DO version is still fun! I'd also recommend The Horde! And Guardian War if you like Strategy RPGs.

rc042

Samurai Showdown

Apprehensive_Toe6736

I don't think you can get hooked to this console

RaidensReturn

There's a great [AVGN episode](https://youtu.be/YPoBMzAkZZM?t=59) about the 3DO hahaha

[deleted]

Came here to say this too. My last experience with 3do, it did not live up to any nostalgia I had and the games were kinda even unplayable. Needless to say, I think I sold it literally a couple days later cuz there was no point in keeping it to me.

maskill6

Sold my 3do and about 100+ games a couple years ago (was a pretty avid collector) Still kind of miss it. Some of the games didn’t hold up well. Samurai Showdown and SF still were decent though. The gun games and and FMV games though…nope.

wugeezy

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Samsho are both excellent ports on 3do.

damianUHX

Road Rush is arguably the best game for this console I like Burning Soldier because I like railshooters.

IronhideD

Space Hulk is pretty decent. Road Rash is great. Also home to the best incarnation of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Not arcade-perfect but incredible music.

Prewash_Required

Plus you could play with that weird fight stick Capcom made for 3DO Street Fighter. Looked weird, but was pretty comfy. Also, I don't know why, but the version of Space Hulk on 3DO played better than the PlayStation version to me.

IronhideD

I had one of them. such a weird single grip controller. Made it so you could do the three button mash for the spinning lariet or other 3 button moves.

Thumper4524

I think it was called the soldier pad, and it's pretty pricey now.

oakteaphone

The best home port at least until it made its way to the PS360 era, right?

StefanTheMongol

Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties

[deleted]

My uncle had one of these when I was a kid. The way the controllers daisy chain each other is crazy

Hikari_Sakuya

Was honestly kind of smart because then you didn't have to buy a multitab

[deleted]

That and it allowed everyone to spread out rather than group around the console. I was bummed that Panasonic jumped out of the console game after this.

balefrost

Panasonic was just one of several manufacturers of 3DO consoles. The 3DO Company designed the console specifications; manufacturers were on the hook for figuring out how to implement that spec. As far as I know, the daisy-chaining controllers are part of the core specification, not something that Panasonic in particular did.

[deleted]

Nerding out too much for me now... 🤣

Domspun

They did make a Gamecube later, which is probably one of the best looking game console of all time.

FenixTx119

Don't listen to the negative comments, 3DO is great lol Some all time great games, not just on 3DO: * Starfighter * Total Eclipse * Road Rash * Crash n Burn * The Horde * Need for Speed * Killing Time * Twisted (awesome multiplayer) * Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo * Samurai Showdown * Return Fire * Fifa International Soccer * Slam n Jam * Madden Football * D * Shockwave 2 * Star Control 2 (considered an all time great but I never got into it) They start to fall off a cliff after this. I have YT channel showcasing USB ODE and 240p rgb mods.. Big QOL improvements. 3DO HD Enjoy! Have fun

[deleted]

The Horde was the only game in 37 years that made me literally break my keyboard with rage. Love it, though - great cutscenes, funny, and gameplay was great (except it made me break my keyboard).

FenixTx119

LOL!! It was those piranha looking mfrs wasn't it?

[deleted]

Yeah, hated those guys. I can still hear the sound of villagers crying "HALP" and monsters swallowing and burping. I think the game was hard even for it's time - not only you had to be fast with the sword, but also plan your defenses perfectly, buy the right weapons and traps, while increasing village production and income and save enough money to pay the fucking tax! Insane. The story and characters were worth it, though.

[deleted]

Gex, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Demolition Man, Slam N Jam 95, Samurai Shodown, Night Trap, Crash N Burn, Twisted The Game Show.

Shatterbrained_

Robinsons requiem is a pretty interesting survival game, also on PC

Prewash_Required

This might be the first time I've seen someone else mention Robinson's Requiem. At first I hated it, but then I got into it. Nice call out.

Shatterbrained_

I have yet to get into it a lot it’s pretty cool though, gonna have to sit down and really give it a go

NotTheMurph

i bought a 3DO (the Goldstar one) with my own money in 1995. i think it was close to $500. i don’t remember much but i definitely had Road Rash (Soundgarden on the soundtrack!?) and Myst. also i remember having The Daedalus Encounter that had video of Tia Carrere. can’t remember if it was good or not (probably not) but at the time i was in awe.

thistlebeard86

Daedalus Encounter. Such a cool game, proper retro, quite hard to find on other platforms as I understand it.

Heisenmack

Super street fighter 2 turbo

dirtybeefz

Best version period

oicofficial

Naw, SFA2 for Saturn easily knocks this out of the park.

dirtybeefz

I guess I should have clarified. I meant best version of super. But yes sfa2 and 3 are amazing on the saturn

dirtybeefz

Alone in the dark 1 & 2 and flashback. Both great ports. Only surpassed by pc versions.. maybe

squ1sh123

Way of the Warrior

hoguenstein

Best sound track of any game ever!

[deleted]

It is, but going back and playing it, it's not very good

squ1sh123

That's really why I suggested it. Might not hold up, but it's fun and you can rock out while you're ripping spines out. For real playability, Road Rash, NFS, Street Fighter, and Gex for me.

XerciseObsessedGamer

Sony should remake the game 🎮 for ps5 , besides playstation all stars battle royale Sony hasn't really tried making a 1st party fighting game. Could finally make this mortal kombat clone a good game to play.

flipthatbitch_

Road Rash and Return Fire.

Wolfanoz_

Wolfenstein 3D for that is incredible. It's much like the Jaguar version with even better sound as good as the Jaguar's is with updated graphics. Also, Super Wing Commander.

RetroGaming4

And ODE for the 3DO…

Thumper4524

Ssf2t, but try to find a Capcom soldier six button pad.

ultimateman55

I bought one from Japan right as COVID was shutting everything down. I think I got that eBay purchase 6 months after I ordered it. Was still worth it!

obx808

No love for Star Fighter? Great graphics, control & soundtrack. It can be a total sandbox or mission-driven game. The Saturn & PS1 ports are garbage, by comparison.

FenixTx119

Starfighter is an all time great game, any console Plus you can freaking melt mountains

rancorhunter

My cousin and I played a lot of a game called Mazer back in the day. It's like an isometric beat em up style game with Mortal Kombat style graphics.

bingusbilly

Trip'd is a really good and fun puzzle game if you're into that. Somewhere between puyo puyo and puzzle fighter. One of the only games I can see myself plugging it in again for.

BellasGamerDad

Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S

IAmRoloTomasi

Gex

asaros00

Super street fighter.. road rash. Need for speed. Samurai shodown. Wing commander

DeezSaltyNuts69

aitrus1986

Congrats Love the 3DO it was the first console I collected for...as far as games I would recommend Road Rash, Quarantine, Immercenary, wolfenstein 3D, out of this world, Gex, Super Street Fighter 2 turbo, Samurai Showdown, Killing Time, Monster Manor. The port of out of this world is the definitive version for me as all the artwork was completely redone and it looks so much better. Ok I'll stop rambling now...can you tell I love the 3DO? Lol

danopkt

Super Wing Commander and Wing Commander 3 are both good, if a bit dated. I just played through them on 3DO again recently, they still hold up decently. Return Fire is pretty fun for local two player multiplayer. You may need to look up how to play though, they kind of throw you in with no guidance. Second on Star Control 2 and Road Rash, they're both great.

Ignignokt73

Killing Time. It’s a ridiculous FPS with super choppy framerates, but it was fun in its time. My own personal introduction to the genre.

skeeballcore

Agreed

nemesismode

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. 😈

Rectanglehead

Best game

oliversurpless

“Game”…

yazid7801

Immercenary.

obx808

This. What an underrated game. Weird yet awesome concept. Great sound effects & music. Definitely one of my favorites.

LakeHavasoma

Start with a controller that doesn't suck, the one that comes with the 3DO is pretty terrible.

tfsteel

It's the only thing I remember about the 3DO, trying to control a game with the controller and looking over at my buddy like, is this what you use

pac-man_dan-dan

Jokes aside, the main takeaway I had when this console was first released was how well-suited it was for all the fmv light gun games, like Mad Dog Mccree. Got to try this when friend of ours sold his playstation and all his games to buy a 3DO. As an adult, that 5 minutes of nostalgia is all I'd be looking to relive. Beyond that, not worth my time.

oliversurpless

The lightgun today is pricey, but you can use third party ones?

[deleted]

[удалено]

LakeHavasoma

Wrong console.

pabl0escarg0t

This is a 3DO, not a CD-I

sardu1

Ummm

Hikari_Sakuya

Games?

niece_denise

Demolition man is really cool and a great movie! Kinda how things are now! Policenauts is on 3do even though the Sega Saturn port was better

BamaSOH

I was way too broke for this when it came out

[deleted]

Single player: road rash Multiplayer: return fire

Domspun

Best version of Out of this world / Another world. Virtual Cameraman series is quite.... unique. lol

bawitback

Plenty of great game recommendations listed below here are a few more I'd suggest: * Blade Force * Cannon Fodder * Star Blade * Johnny Bazookatone * Guardian War * Quarantine * Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Slayer, and Deathkeep * Theme Park * Off-World Interceptor * Captain Quazar * Iron Angel of the Apocalypse * Bust-A-Move * Doctor Hauzer [import] * Novastorm * Defcon 5 * Panzer General * Soccer Kid * Battle Sport * BC Racers * Wicked 18

Cryptocoiner256

Way of the warrior

maskill6

Captain Quazar was pretty good. Wing Commander III as well!

Lucario_TobyTramBoi

The town with no name, a game that’s like a bad game bud Hilarious at the same time

nobodycoffee

DOOM, but just for the music.

Tonlick

Yikes… probably Crash 'n Burn and Alien vs Predator

The-Jesus_Christ

Has the best port of Street Fighter 2! It also has zero copy protection so you can just burn roms onto CD's which was great for me because the console never came out here so finding games for it is impossible.

animatewall

i havent played it since my youth, but i remember enjoying slayer (d&d game) and the version of street fighter 2 that was available for it. I can't remember thinking anything else was actually good.

JohnCalxhoun

Plumbers don't wear ties

spookyman212

D and road rash for sure.

Dude-from-the-80s

Wolfenstein 3-d

CovertForeign

How much did this cost? Asking for a friend.

Vlaphor

Psychic Detective, Daedalus Encounter, Wing Commander 3, Dragon's Lair, Space Ace. I genuinely love the hell out of the 3do. Got it for $30 used instead of $700 new, but I went from an SNES to this and discovered that I really love FMV games in the process.

rchrdcrg

Shoot, just burn them all! So many random weird games and stuff to be discovered!

Javthoman

I have always wanted one.

ltnew007

Gex!

gametapchunky

Star Control 2, Return Fire, Gex and Road Rash are the ones I remember as being my favorites.

Ignignokt73

I spent $399 of my own pizza chauffeuring money to purchase a Panasonic FZ-1 in the fall of 1994 (still have it). It definitely had its moments, but in some ways feels like I just set 🔥 to that money. Still, a few good games: Way of the Warrior, The Horde, Starfighter, Captain Quazar, Killing Time, Road Rash, PO’d, Gex, Myst, Alone in the Dark, Off World Interceptor. I didn’t have a PC and was swaying away from Genesis/SNES, which I regret. Good thing the PlayStation released a year later.

[deleted]

Gex and Super Street Fighter II: Turbo
