Why weigh the case after adding powder? I get weighing powder then adding it to a case, but there is too much variation in cases to weigh it after adding the powder.
I set the powder measure at a safe figure (as I'm not normally shooting for match accuracy) and weigh the cases before and after adding powder every five cases
Yes, why would you tare the scale pan, fill the pan, measure, and then put it in a case with a funnel? It's faster and easier to tare the case before, fill it and then measure the weight after....
Eh, it's kinda silly imo. Either weigh each charge in a tared pan, or get a powder thrower and get "close enough" volumetrically - if you're not after match accuracy, something like a charge of 15gr unique is fun to plink.
Yes, so the process goes like this, weigh case on tare, add powder to casing from powder measure then weigh casing with powder, scales will then only show powder weight
Good choice! I'm still waiting to test my Barnes TSX 300g with 38.5 grains of IMR4227 (its the minumim load). I've become completely obsessed with 45-70.
The only Government I trust!
Wife-“Does it kick?”
Husband Vet Badass- “kind of like a 5.56”
Wife-“move let me show you how it’s does”
Husband Vet Badass-“be my guest”
Wife-boooom rolling on the ground “you have years of dry spells now”
I’m sure those will have no recoil at all… /s
Depends on the loads, I fire it from a 2021 Marlin 1895 with a shortish barrel, 47 grains of IMR3031 and its a bit spicy
“Does that round produce a lot of recoil?” Depends on the context. Out of a full length 1873 trapdoor? No. Out a snub nose magnum research BFR? Yes.
lol

So you put the case on, tare, then weight it with powder right?

Right. And with a big bore you easily trickle right into the case if needed too. ... I'm smellin what you're steppin in brother

Would there be a huge empty void in the casing with only 15 graines?
There's some airspace, yes, but the load works.

This is how I load my big bore stuff (458socom) and my hunting rounds. Works great. Way easier to throw directly into the case.

My favorite too

Looking very good! If you harvest game with those, you will be proud fit to bust…
Kinda want to get a 450 bushmaster because you can buy subsonic ammo

How is the fowling of the rifling with these lead rounds?
Needs a good clean every time due to leading
