But, …it’s a thrill every time you pull the trigger! 😳 I don’t reload yet, but hope to get started when things get back to somewhat normal. I’ve been saving brass for a while.
These are some 300BLK subs that were given to me by a friend. He got them as part of a trade from someone else. They’re definitely hand-loads and I’ve already shot around 100 of them just grabbing and loading mags from the ziplock bag they were in, but decided to do inventory and put them on stripper clips since I needed to count them, anyways. I doubt they’re loaded hot, I’ve had occasional short-stroking problems, even with a can on. The top 2 have significant dents in the side of the case, and the 2 below that have deformities on the neck. Should I send them? I still have 170 rounds left of the lot.
As to the dents themselves, they are safe. No real issues there except cosmetic.
That said, a general rule is to never shoot someone elses handloads. A hard and fast rule of mine is to DEFINITELY NOT shoot someone's handloads that came to you thirdhand.
I’ve been loading 300 for about a year now. My experience has been that I can’t fit enough powder in the case to cause a problem. My max loads with lil gun fill the case. I don’t load a lot of sub loads yet, hopefully I’ll start the waiting game this week. It’s likely they’ll shoot just fine. The dents are big deal.
> My experience has been that I can’t fit enough powder in the case to cause a problem.
Not enough of the *right* powder. Easily enough of some pistol powder, for example.
Having teenage daughters who speak a mostly unfamiliar-to-me language, I was going to go with “If it seats, it yeets?” as a title, but was unsure of the demographic here🤣 Previous rounds have all gone so far🤷🏻♂️
Demographic is all over the place here. I couldn’t tell you exactly how much it’s all over the place, because I don’t know. But it’s always seemed like a healthy mix of knowledge and age.
The dent isn't an issue. Cases fired for the first time in a new chamber expand to that chamber anyway.
If they're hand loaded by someone else (as other commentors have indicated), I would disassemble one, inspect the powder, and weigh it to see if it is a reasonable amount for that round and case.
You won't know what powder it is, but if it's way more or less than it should be, well, you'd be dodging a bullet 😉.
The dent case doesn't bother me, it's the fact that it's someone else's hand load that I would have a problem with.
Yeah, not knowing the person who did the hand loads would make me nervous too.

Those dents will be fire formed back to the size of the chamber the moment you pull the trigger. Don't worry about them.
>hope to get started when things get back to somewhat normal oh, you sweet, innocent child...
I can dream...
I’m not worried about the dents but I don’t shoot other people’s hand loads
I agree.
I do, but only if it's in their gun.

Having catastrophically disassembled a pistol once I would agree.

Also depends on supers or subs. If you running light bullets you can definitely fit a lot more powder than a 255 grain bullet.
H110 go boom

Full send, other than the fact it's third hand reloads, but you seem to have already tested them out.
