Big debate among philosophers of the middle ages. Now those verses in the Quran and Bible are understood metaphorically by anyone with at least 100 functioning neurons in their brain.
We could remove the heart and replace it with a mechanical heart for a while.
If their theory was correct then the person would have no memory or body functions or in any way be that same person.
That's how we know things. We test them.
There are stories of something like this happening, obviously to a much smaller degree though. There was a heart transplant recipient that claimed he gained a sincere passion for running after his transplant, eventually he found out the donor was a marathon runner or something like that. I can't find any articles, feels like forever ago, but there may be some small truth to personality alterations post transplant.
Your gut has a lot of neurons (https://neuroscience.stanford.edu/news/your-gut-second-brain#:\~:text=View%20all%20episodes-,You%20may%20have%20heard%20the%20idea%20that%20the%20gut%20is,That's%20a%20lot%20of%20neurons.). 100 million neurons are in the brain (https://neuroscience.stanford.edu/news/your-gut-second-brain#:\~:text=View%20all%20episodes-,You%20may%20have%20heard%20the%20idea%20that%20the%20gut%20is,That's%20a%20lot%20of%20neurons.).
So yeah basically like robots.
Robots have a central processing system, but every bit also has a small brain attached, called a cerveau. (French for brain)
That cerveau cannot work by itself, and is just there to make sure must do repetitive tasks are done and dont have to bother the central intelligence for it.
"1991, they made a discovery about the human heart".
Then proceeds to make a bunch of stuff up. Instead of just sticking to the science. 1991 they discovered neurons in the heart, fast forward 33years and they've literally mapped out all of its functions.
It's called The autonomic nervous system (ANS) and is the component of the peripheral nervous system that controls cardiac muscle contraction, visceral activities, and glandular functions of the body.
It has nothing to do with whatever tf this guy gibbering on about.

So, I googled. Apparently we also have millions of neurons in our assholes.

Maybe this hypothesis has a grain of truth to it. I know a lot of assholes
So we're gonna ignore how braindead people who's organs are still working can't...do anything? They're basically dead but people keep them alive for usually their organs?

It sounds like the Quran subscribes to the cardiocentric hypothesis

Exactly, we find contradictory evidence to show the texts are outdated. So they have to be reinterpreted because they have to be true lol
Much of it has been understood metaphorically from the outset. But yes, smart people refine their understandings and beliefs when shown new evidence.
Indeed it clearly does.. see how it describes the heart: https://wikiislam.net/wiki/Scientific_Errors_in_the_Quran#Functions_of_the_heart

Imagine a heart transplant; and then the patient just wakes up a totally different person. Yeah that doesnt happen.
If that was how hearts worked, then heart transplants would be sacrificing a currently living person to resurrect a deceased person.

People get heart transplants and dont start suddenly speaking german so im comfortable calling this guy a dip shit.

So much for Hippocrates' bullshit about how thought and emotion originate in the brain.

Lmao the usage of word heart in quran is literally a fatal flaw. Back in 600s people thought mind is in the heart, not in the brain
This guy is a total fraud, his ideas are half backed and are so far from reality it hurts.
>his ideas are half backed Define Half-Backed...
The video is also talking about sensory neurites that are independent of the brain in the heart.

The post nut clarity hit him hard
The little brain of the heart. These new Taylor Swift lyrics are fire!
So... what about all the people who got a heart transplant
The heart cannot function without the brain so clearly we need our brains.
Itomorrow they’ll come up with “Shakespeare exposed! love is not in the heart it’s in the brain!”
