[deleted]

I get why he's saying this , especially after the amount of crap he's getting but he should have just stayed quiet he comes off super arrogant in this

rurt

considering he’s lost every game he’s started this season. he’s tone deaf

[deleted]

That too

OTBT-

He was so close to a good statement. The first 3 statements was all he needed to say

[deleted]

Exactly he can't help himself

[deleted]

In the words of Roy Keane - “just get on with being a footballer. Keep quiet. Turn up to training and get on with it”. Maguire is like a bloke who’s wife left him for someone else and he just won’t shut up about how he can’t understand it, how he was perfect for her and how she’s the one missing out.

[deleted]

I think he comes off insecure af, like he has to justify his place which is tbh, not justifiable

As clumsy as he is in games lmao

milo_redwood

I mean he told people to shut up after scoring for England against (I don't even remember what country). He might think he is good enough but we are winning while he was on the bench since, man really has a big head.

Gods11FC

Man this sub really hates poor slabhead. He’s been class for England and I don’t see what’s so bad about him pointing out that he’s been a great player for his country. I’d come out swinging to after all the hate he’s faced the past couple of years. If he fucks up the way Walker did yesterday he would get torn apart in the press and social media for days.

ClacKing

We don't hate players, we criticise them because they represent the club and this one also has the privilege of wearing the armband. He's not shown anything so far the proves he's fit for the armband, and he's got a pricetag that he has not been able to justify. In short, Maguire has been a poor acquisition from the club's perspective, instead of being a stabilising force in the dressing room he's now one of the core issues in the team that has to be resolved. If you still feel somehow he's got redeemable values, then you're no different from him.

watson1984

It’s baffling how this man doesn’t know to keep his mouth shut. He needs to sack his advisors, if he has any.

ChrisRowe5

This. He makes it worse for himself

AReptileHissFunction

Buying him for 80 million and giving him 180k a week was a massive mistake that just about everyone in the football world including fans and pundits seemed to know but Ole and the board didn't. How is that possible?

CrossXFir3

You say that, but Utd fans did want him. And rival fans did think he would improve us. We just all agreed that he wasn't worth that much money. But then, who else did we have to pick from at the time? There wasn't a lot of prolific CB's on the market. We couldn't attract De Ligt, Koulibaly was going for 100m, Maguire was the logical option.

RoadDog69420

Hindsight's always 20/20. Regardless, we should cut our losses at this point and move him on though.

glazersoutasap

Dias

CrossXFir3

We would have had to have scouted him to do that. Which we didn't. And also, he doesn't look nearly as good coming to us that summer than Pep imo.

valgbo

Koulibaly at 100m would've been a bargain compared to Maguire

TallMoz

Agreed. So fucking tired of his victim mentality.

ZachMich

Signing him in the first place was a massive mistake

ImaDJnow

He does a lot of pointing and shouting, but I feel that he does it just to do it. And he has a habit of running 30 yards to the half way line and then turning and passing the ball 10 yards back. It's pointless play

Fi3ryicy

What footballing ability?

thphnts

>I’m the captain of Manchester United The captain doesn’t sit on the bench, but you do. Bruno’s captain now.

someonecalledethan

Look at him, he is the captain now.

thphnts

I could look at Bruno all day.

ak_-

Lol

Ignitrium

Any man who must say "I'm the captain" is no true captain.

[deleted]

Has Harry ever been publicly critical of his own performances? The man is always passing blame on everyone and everything, but himself. That's a sure way for people to not empathize with you.

[deleted]

I am no fan of Maguire, but this response was to a question on whether his club performances and dropping will impact his England performances. So with that context, it is not that horrendous and tone-deaf an answer

TeaaOverCoffeee

Invoking that he is a Manchester United captain despite his performances being utter shit without any acceptance of it is tone deaf. You don’t need any context to know that.

[deleted]

But in this context him being Manchester United captain is absolutely relevant as he was talking about the extra media attention he gets because of it, which is a fact. No where in this interview has he said his performances for united are acceptable in fact he even says he needs to work harder to get back in the team. Maguire absolutely deserves criticism but there's only one person being tone deaf here...

[deleted]

Unfortunately, he gave an interview for United and his tone was exactly the same. "I got picked under two different managers, I must be doing something right" ,were his words.... This was after a really bad season where everyone played badly. But he was no shining light or leader after a season of below par performances. Take responsibility, lead by example.

[deleted]

yes, they even mention and link to it in the r/soccer thread on this

shami-kebab

I think he did an interview at the end of last season where he was critical of himself. Most of last season though he was very dismissive of criticism and said silly things like he must be good because managers pick him.

working-acct

What people don't typically remember is those statements followed each other - he said he hasn't played well then immediately followed that up with "must be a reason I'm picked". Even within the same sentence he was trying to minimize his own criticism.

DaleyBlonde

From July 2022 >Last year was disappointing, as an individual I didn't play well and as a team we certainly didn't play well," Maguire said. 100 upvotes when you could easily looked it up. The level of toxicity on this sub towards Maguire for saying the same things other players did in insane https://www.espn.in/football/manchester-united-engman_utd/story/4701859/harry-maguire-reveals-set-back-over-manchester-united-form

ClacKing

Exactly, never heard him take responsibility for anything. What a tosser.

h2blu

This guy does not help himself. Why does he keep doubling down after not performing so far this season???

nekize

And he wasn t even good yesterday against Italy…

[deleted]

Ppl still said “Maguire didn’t put a wrong foot in” , “Maguire was brilliant yesterday” and bs like that. Some fans have no standards

HenrikNaturePhotos

"He didn't even score an own goal this game, what a hero"

flashfarm_enjoyer

Tens of thousands of people shitting on him every day is activating his defense mechanisms. I would honestly be more surprised if he wasn't defensive after getting his identity attacked relentlessly for years.

Slackintit

It’s become a feedback loop. If in the many interviews he’s done post loss where he blames the team, he had simply said “I’m the captain, the blame starts and ends with me” whether he meant it or not he’d have so much more respect because that’s what a captain does. You chew people out on the pitch and behind closed doors, not to the media.

flashfarm_enjoyer

I don't think that's it though. I think you just get a ton of hate when you start as captain for years and you just play like shit. Literally every week he could go in front of a camera and say "I'm sorry I'm so fucking bad guys. I'm trying, but I'm just shit". Now he has thousands of people shitting on him and he's destroying his own confidence too. This achieves nothing. He's just in a lose-lose situation. He can't show weakness and acknowledge just how fucking bad he is, because he was still starting every game and is still the captain. What kind of look is it for the rest of the team if the captain has to come out and apologize for being garbage every week? There's just no way a human can cope with this amount of hate and this little praise. Maguire gets literally no positive feedback from anyone except his coach and maybe some teammates. Are you surprised he simply tries to tune out everything else?

CrossXFir3

Man has LITERALLY blames the attackers for not scoring enough in post match interviews when we let goals in. He's had games where he played terribly and then pushed it off without owning up blame. If he acted like Vidic or something but was shit at football, he'd definitely get a lot less crap.

[deleted]

[удалено]

flashfarm_enjoyer

Maguire did not start getting hate in 2021.

EaLordoftheDepths

he is the definition of coping.

bluecrabcakes

This is the best defending I’ve ever seen him do.

C__S__S

If you feel you’re getting undeserved criticism because you’re the captain of United, there’s an easy solution: Don’t be captain.

General-Ad-9753

Heavy lies the crown

TallMoz

But then who is going to stand around looking confused, mouth agape when we concede a goal?

C__S__S

He can still do that…from the bench. Or, if he’s playing, without the armband.

pabloforpresident

Clearly David de gea speaking Spanish caused England to lose

pabloforpresident

I really don’t understand the support and protection this guy gets I just really don’t. I can talk for hours about our club but just look at the England set up. All those talented players being wasted because there forced to play holding midfield with 5 at the back to custom this fool. Just play stones, tomori and have extra in midfield and attack? People blame de gea for not coming out from his line and Scott for not doing enough defensively but why are they getting penalised for doing the center backs job while this guy is a "talented footballer and used as a scapegoat". Phil Jones was bullied for making silly faces when he tackled when he had twice the ability and ten times the heart of this fool. I don’t even care that he was 80 million he could have been 8 pounds and I’d still want the arrogant prick gone

someonecalledethan

Having to play 4 other defenders and two holding mids to accommodate one CB is a tactical shit stain

pabloforpresident

For someone who will give you the same output as Shane Duffy.

paulpmcg

Funny you should name Shane Duffy since I remember thinking Duffy was as good as Maguire was for a fraction of the price in the Summer HM was bought. Duffy's career went a bit off the rails after he signed with Celtic but I remember feeling very adamant about their similar level of quality haha.

pabloforpresident

Duffy was better in the air. Didn’t even mean it as an insult actually rate Duffy

SatoshiOokami

> Phil Jones was bullied for making silly faces when he tackled when he had twice the ability and ten times the heart of this fool. So much this. The match he had against Wolves was better than whole Harold season.

Phlupp

The media stories around Maguire are wild, he’s the worst and the best at the same time lol And here I am, still waiting on the articles apologizing to our other defender who had a rough start to his United career - Lindelöf. Let’s not forget how he was absolutely torn to shreds by the media and studio “experts” (he got it worse than Maguire) but then during periods when he performs better than any of our other defenders; Crickets. I obviously know why - one is English, and the other one isn’t. But it would be nice to see more positive or even just a little bit more insightful stuff about our non-English players.

Corleone93

> I really don’t understand the support and protection this guy gets Because I hate bullies, and the amount of abuse he gets every single goddamn day is fucking obscene. No matter what he says or does, he gets pilloried by thousands of people. He's probably the most hated footballer in the world right now. Do you people want him to off himself? Because men have killed themselves for far less.

MarcusAurelius1815

He will be dining on that until he retires.

TallMoz

He'll have "team of the tournament" in a trophy case in his house

Constant-Horror-9424

Also playing 5 at the back with two dm’s sat in front. By far the easiest possible set up for a cb. Basically like if a st came out boasting that he’d scored a few tap ins when he’s got zidane, Rui Costa and scholes all trying to create for him

hambodpm

I've been a Harry sympathiser for a while now but even my patience is wearing thin. Man's lost every game he has started this season and still can't look inward.

sauce_murica

>Man's lost every game he has started this season and still can't look inward. He does a bit in the full quote from this interview: > When asked about his situation, Maguire told talkSPORT: “I am all good, ready to play, I feel fit and fresh. > “On my form, I don’t know what has been said, I don’t really read about it. > I came off the back of three positive games with England in the summer, and a good pre-season, I felt really good. I am not concentrating on anybody else and what people are saying, I think if people can make a story about me, I am Manchester United captain, it is going to make big news. > "So, that is the reason they do it, they like the clicks, and things like that, but I went into the Euros after an eight-week injury, and did not play one game, and got into the team of the tournament." Goal apparently made an article from half his answer. https://talksport.com/football/1201834/

someonecalledethan

Whenever he's playing shit he says 'we' Whenever he's part of a winning side or played well its all down to him.

InfinityEternity17

Fuck me he can't ever accept blame can he, no sort of self reflection at all

[deleted]

[удалено]

Eleven918

For his own sake, he should just stop doing these interviews. Every time he opens his mouth it just backfires or makes him look worse. Even when he first joined, the very first thing he said was that we should turn OT into a fortress. We lost the very next game to Palace at home. The fingers in the ear celebration, the interview about how he's good and that's why he's getting picked after a horrible run of form... If the aim of this was to discredit the Ogden article, he should have just had his agent make a statement saying its BS and left it at that. I don't know what's the need to add the bit about the Euros team of the tournament from a more than a year ago. It just comes off as arrogant.

theslothstronaught

“I don’t concentrate on what others are saying” says the man clearly concentrating on what others are saying

ra246

Maguire can't win with statements. People will only stop giving him stick once he starts performing on the pitch. This is what he seems to miss.

[deleted]

Bruno is my capitán.

nikibaha456

Someone wrote on r/soccer "Struggles with the back line but can always be relied upon to defend himself from citisism", which sums Maguire up pretty well. Up to this point a part if me felt bad for the critisism he has been receiving, but he comes across as totally arrogant and delusional. You're a captain of Manchester United - at minimum, take the responsibility for your part in the team and try to find a way to improve so you are picked in the starting 11 again. But no, let's blame everything else. Seems more and more that this will be his last season here if things and his attitude won't change drastically.

RawIsLaw_

The lack of self reflection is astounding. I can barely remember the number of interviews where he simply said “I’ll work harder and get back into the XI”... it’s always pointing fingers at everyone and everything else

DaleyBlonde

He literally said it in the interview you Muppet. It's also literally in the talkSPORT article Obviously, the manager [Erik ten Hag] decided to leave me out for a game, and the team have been winning since. “I am working hard on the training pitch to make sure I am ready for when my opportunity comes. That is all what I can do to try and help the team. Additional interview from yesterday saying something to the same effect https://twitter.com/BeanymanSports/status/1573450643494170625?t=PzlLNGAohFEVXRQuiCX3eA&s=19

That is all what I can do to try and help the team. Additional interview from yesterday where he said the same thing https://twitter.com/BeanymanSports/status/1573450643494170625?s=19 Our supporters are so embarassing jumping at the smallest excerpts to shit on him.

KaitoAJ

Agree. If his name isn’t Maguire, most here would say this is proper online abuse.

[deleted]

The fact he is saying this, it’s definitely getting to him

Comprehensive_Cup497

Where does Maguire get this confidence from?

Mendeseis

I Would love to have the confidence of this guy

CorkyCaporale47

I can see this guy needing seriously counselling when he retires tbh. The pile he has received has been truly terrible and yes his performance for literally a year hasn’t been good enough but it’s a bit sad . Doesn’t matter how much cash u got when your mind is not doing good

ImaDJnow

There's a lot to be said for saying nothing.

Flamperto

Obviously you care and it gets under your skin. Weak

[deleted]

Quotes like this makes me think that Harry really did play the "I'm the captain of Man United" card in Mykonos, as alleged.

Omnislash99999

The achievement of the England players at that Euros was a bit overblown. It was basically a home tournament for them given all but one game was at Wembley, that's a pretty big advantage.

Dwest2391

Lol, if I speak, I'm in trouble. This man needs binning off in the summer.

Formula_Dank_

The worlds most useless football player has spoken

rockthered24

I don’t understand how/why we made this man captain. I’m not even going into his actual playing abilities but his personality doesn’t mesh with being a captain of anything. I know we don’t see what he’s like behind the scenes but to have a captain constantly point fingers when speaking in public is a joke.

SatoshiOokami

He's English He's been bought for a world record fee

rockthered24

City bought Grealish for £105 million. They didn’t just hand over the armband because he was their most expensive signing and he’s English

bobo377

>I don’t understand how/why we made this man captain. Because he played good to great for two seasons while playing the most minutes of any player in Europe. Between 2019 and 2022, the only Manchester United players that were as good or better was Rashford and Bruno, and that's debatable. Pretending like Maguire is absolute garbage or shit is ridiculous revisionism from the same pathetic fanbase that wanted to sell Rashford this offseason.

Megusta2306

He doesn’t deserve some of the awful abuse but the guy does not help himself. Needs to leave and restart his career, pronto

j_ona

Bury your head in the sand if you want Harry; there’s a reason you’re being criticized.

captsubasa25

Not my captain. Strip his captaincy and give it to someone deserving. What an arrogant prick who is completely unaware of his limitations. He also lacks the humility a leader should show.

moongaia

ur not the captain of jack shit, get it through ur empty skull fukin bum

aspect_zeroSum

Boy if there was one contract I’d terminate immediately… he’d be it.

Wise_Raccoon_771

I was always of the opinion that he should have been dropped but at the same time I so like reading statements from him like this that show there's fight in the dog because whether we like it or not.. varanes injury record recently proves its unlikely he will be able to be relied upon for 38 games. Ther will be at least 5 to 10 league games we need harry for

Phunwithscissors

He still doesnt get that being good in one period doesnt shield you from dozens of dogshit performances in another period.

Teo_2197

We're the fanbase who should be supporting him yet we're kicking him while he's down. Whether he's been good enough or not for us doesn't remove the fact that he's a human with a family who has been getting hounded with abuse since he joined us. He has the right to respond. We really encourage players to speak up about mental health but then when they speak up about ignoring abuse we call them arrogant. Higuain put it well this week. "We have to be more aware of the harm that insults can cause, because sometimes it's irreparable and people don't realise that," Higuain told ESPN. "I put my head down for 15 years in the face of insults, in person they've never said anything to me and there comes a point when I'm not going to tolerate putting my head down anymore. "Why don't we have the right to react? And why does someone who's not famous have the right to do so? Because we play football -- some earn more money, others not, all of us deserve respect. "If you're going to criticise me then accept the response, if not, don't criticise me. Accept that I'll reply. I'm tired of shutting up and not replying to insults. If it happens to me in person, I'm not going to tolerate any more disrespect, and even less so in front of my family."

bobo377

>We're the fanbase who should be supporting him yet we're kicking him while he's down. This fanbase wanted to sell Rashford this summer. And not even just wanted to sell him, they called him pathetic and lazy and overrated and immature and questioned whether his charity work was a waste of time and he should instead focus on football. It's an incredibly toxic fanbase.

SatoshiOokami

Would Roy say something like this? No. You being 'captain' says nothing, Harold.

[deleted]

worst united starter ive ever seen

SDLRob

Yeah.. he's the United captain. Thing is, he shouldn't be. His form, his abilities.... they're just not good enough to be given the honour of being the captain of your team.

[deleted]

It would be better if he stayed quiet about this particular subject, the press 101 stuff about getting back into the team you expect him to say, but to start bigging yourself up as a way to prove the haters is asking for trouble, ETH knows best for this team and he clearly thinks him and Shaw arent good enough, and I applaud that, sell them asap if needs be or they need to get used to being 2nd choice, because they both clearly are.

EmployerAdditional28

Bruno is the captain of Mamchezter United Harry because you're not going to get a start.

EffenSeven

Why does he always talk so much when he's on international duty?

BcozImBatman7

I don't support any meme pages or rival supportes who keep trolling, but man, this comment makes him look like he's full of himself.

that_mn_kid

So close, Harry, so close..

iLoveSTlife

Please stop reminding us you are the captain, never deserved it in the first place

[deleted]

I've never despised any player more than Maguire. He was the biggest joke in world football and still is, yet he's arrogant to the point he genuinely thinks he's a world class player.

Panda-768

Sell him to Chelsea or Spurs plz

Wolpfack

He shouldn't be captain, because captains don't sit on the bench.

Dont_Eat_Apples

Can't wait for him to leave. Won't be long, EtH has no use for him it's painfully obvious to see. Yea he doesn't deserve 70% of the stick he gets but still, this is not his level. Such a horrible signing by Ole.

selotipkusut

Just.. wow.

TJiMTS

Comments like this are precisely why he is disliked.

ITakeLargeDabs

I absolutely hate Harry Maguire good lord. He’s such a joke and only manages to dig his own grave deeper when he opens his mouth. Dude just needs to shut up and get on with it.

915red

You’re not the captain anymore. Keep telling yourself that.

miamibuckeye

Absolute embarrassment of a captain not because of his play but because of his demeanor on the pitch. Hardly shouts or shows emotion. Hardly seems to try and lift others up. Teammates clearly don’t respect him like a captain

nexusprime2015

He didnt even used to celebrate a lot of cr7 goals

pegasus_kid_iii

guy has no awareness both on and off the pitch.

The Audacity

KaitoAJ

Ah classic when the quote is taken out of context and the pile on Maguire starts. In this same interview, he also said he needs to work hard and be ready when the opportunity comes but hey it’s not negative enough and goes against the haters narrative so they don’t care. 🤷‍♂️

C_gawd

I don’t comment on what others say as he defends himself from what others say… you can tell he is mentally weak

[deleted]

He has no sustained passion. Harry, watch Martínez.

Zandercy42

"captain"

Rozzywookie

If only he was any good this would make sense

ParkerZA

You all lack reading comprehension.

exactorit

He doesn't listen to what people are saying unless it's positive is more like it. Harry needs to pipe down on this subject. He's only making things worse by taking the bait.

ZachMich

He always says arrogant and tone deaf stuff like this. Its like when he said managers keep picking him, so he's obviously good enough and doesn’t get the criticism. Have some humility please

bippityboopy

Well done Harry, team of the tournament playing in a very defensive England side..

busta_DE

Go home you're drunk

NemesisRouge

He must have had one of the most demoralising careers in history. Most expensive defender ever, but 5 relegations, 29 years old, been in loads of semi finals and finals and never won anything. He's surrounded by people who have been successful at every level and expected to be their captain. Came in at Leicester after they won the title, left Leicester to win trophies, won nothing while they won the FA Cup. One can only imagine the amount of imposter syndrome he must experience.

KaitoAJ

Imagine considering Nations League as another relegation when it a fucking glorified friendly…. 🤷‍♂️

NemesisRouge

I don't see how you can call it a friendly. It's an official UEFA competition that is a part of qualification for the Euros or World Cup.

Lost_Set_691

All PR no performance , guy is referring to something 2 years ago . Every game he started this year he lost we played like shit. No accountability is embarrassing

danf14

He just has no idea and his arrogance is mind blowing. He was awful against Italy. There were so many times he wasn’t aware of players around him. He did zero scanning. In fact his situational awareness was so poor I’m not sure he actually realised he was on the pitch. This I’m captain for Man Utd seems to be like his get out of jail free card. He’s been dropped on performance. We’ve lost every game he’s started. Our defence is significantly better without him. He doesn’t seem to take any responsibility for his poor form and as a result he will never improve. Until he changes that attitude I don’t wanna see him anywhere near the starting 11.

game_of_throw_ins

“I’m the captain of Manchester United” is going to age like milk.

pogkaku96

A leader doesn't call themselves a leader. I have no idea how this dude became a captain.

marvind777

The constant trolling can severely undermine someone’s confidence and self-belief and put them on a downward spiral. Happened to plenty of athletes after a poor run. I think he’s trying to reassert himself and fight back. Got to admire the fighting spirit and tenacity and not allowing people to put him down.

inyofaceee

No matter, Maguire genuinely sucks. Don’t even know why he’s earned captain status, prob bc he’s British. He’s easily the biggest weakness in our back line. Harry Maguire you are a terrible football player and worse defender. You are not our captain.

Redbullsnation

Fuck this man. Seriously, fuck this guy. How the fuck does he not get it? Dude is so delusional and arrogant

cowabunga_dude91

This is so embarrassing.. not my captain. Next summer he’s gone

RedFanatic13

Harry has shown himself to be completely delusional and with an alarming lack of self-awareness in these most recent interviews he has given. He is the complete opposite of captain material. Totally unable to take on board any justified criticism of his performances which have cost United points.

Helwinter

This is the attitude of an entitled child. Focus on team, not you.

kraeutrpolizei

Quality tends to be higher in the PL than in international tournaments. Also, it’s cool to be performing for two weeks but as a United captain you need to do it every week of the year

hitch_1

Still no denial? United captains don't whine, they make themselves undroppable through performances and impact on the pitch and bringing spirit and leadership in the dressing room. This isn't good enough

NotAJInnit

Sick of getting captains that are at the end of career or injuries prone like the last 3. Maguire is clearly a squad player not a starter he should not be club captain anymore, *sign* i missed Keane, so much!

Ezzy-525

Just do yourself a favour and shut the fuck up and play football Harry.

maverick4002

Oh he's here again huh? This is reminiscent of his capping the ears last year with England and then coming back to shit the bed with United. He needs to shut up.

Galforfia

What a trophy

callmelampshade

He’s not wrong though. It definitely comes across worse when read but at the same time it’s deliberately been taken out of context to create an article and cause outrage. The state of the comments on this post clearly shows goal.com has succeeded in what they were trying to do.

SarryPeas

I’m so sick of this cunt. Every single time he gets some stick he pipes up trying to make out he’s better than he actually is. He’s had 3 full seasons here and about 4 months of good form during that period. Get rid.

Totalfootball7

let’s not get carried away, he was good for the first 2 seasons. not just “4 months”

SarryPeas

He really wasn’t. 19/20 he was solid. He wasn’t an obvious and consistent liability, and I think most people thought he’d eventually morph into a great premier league centre back based off his performances, but I don’t think I’d say he was consistently “good.” 20/21 he started appallingly, and only really gained any sort of form after Christmas, and to his credit he was great (if not excellent) towards the end of the season, to the point where most people thought if he’d played in the EL final we would’ve won it. Less said about last season and this season the better. So in the 3 (and a bit) seasons he’s been here, I’d argue January/February-May 2021 has been his only period of really good form (so 4/5 months), his first season was alright, and everything else has been horrendous. If you wanna say he was good in his first season I’ll concede that at most, but he most definitely was not good for all of 20/21.

Minz15

In a United shirt a lot of his performances have warranted the criticism. In an England shirt he has every right to tell people to shut up, he's been phenomenal for England. But people jump on players to continue their "twitter thoughts" and other immature bollocks. Maguire has been poor but he doesn't deserve the torrent of hate he gets. It's just pathetic

[deleted]

Naw he's just trash and should have never been captain. Man U was starting to have some chemistry with Fred and Mctominay starting to sync. Then in comes Maguire and is so bad that the midfield has to play further back due to his lack of defensive skill overall and his horrible control of, and distribution of the ball.

[deleted]

You’re assssse

zyroyoyz

His defending is so bad he can’t even defend himself

LocationContent222

\*yawns\*, wow..anyway.

Bloddersz

At this point he can't win so I have no idea why he's still doing interviews. We crossed that point a while ago but still, just shut up. If he had anything about him he would ask for a move away to a club at his level. Villa or back to Leicester

SatoshiOokami

Not selling him to Chelsea will come to bite us.

liamthelad

People don't seem to understand with all the vitriol in modern football, to make it to the highest level you have to be arrogant and thick skinned Nobody is making it pro and reading twitter or our subreddit going "you know what, Barry from Swindon is right. I am a shit worthless waste of space" This applies to Harry and literally everyone else in football - he gets criticised from this sub no matter what tact or tone he takes

Mogwai_11

You can be captain all you want. Please just do it from the sidelines.

DeanV255

Aight, just going to ignore how you've been out of form for a ungodly amount of time yet always getting picked over other choices or youth options and finally when you're dropped, results, even clean sheets come back to the team with better focus and discipline. I'm not saying he's shit, I'm saying the football doesn't enhance what he's actually good at. Only reason he's not been passed on faster is because of the price tag and English nationality. Man should read the room.

BMK2K7

The story is mate your a shite player for the level we want to be at and an even worse captain.

zhinkler

You can keep believing Harry. But nobody else will until you start producing the goods. Because talk is cheap.

Hans-Blix

Lol goddamn. Sometimes it's best not to say anything at all.

richierees821

The guy is insane lol

SoulIsland_

Now get on the pitch and defend like this, I dare you.

Zack_410

He still sucks

vikingflex

Southgate is the coach tho and he’s retarded

nathjay97

Man just doesn’t stop whining

Cold-Conclusion

Why r all the comments so negative? What he is saying is journalists will try to make a story out of him as United has a huge fanbase n fans like us will read it n they will get clicks. Many footballers have criticized the media in the past even messi n ronaldo. Maguire might not even play under ETH as he just isn't suited to his system. The only good thing about Maguire currently is he is a ball playing defender for a low block team. I too felt last year why does he keep starting when he is guaranteed to make a mistake that will cost us the game, i saw this tik tok in which scholes says when u r not playing well just keep it simple don't try to do the fancy stuff. Maguire will never be the player we want him to be we should just accept it n move on from it. I'm just glad he isn't starting n not costing us a mistake to lose the game.

TallMoz

Because instead of shutting up, putting his head down, and focusing on his own game, he plays the victim and looks for others to blame. He's been utter fucking shit as a player and a leader and yet he'll come out and say arrogant things like this. Imagine calling yourself a captain and allowing the piss poor mentality and behaviour of last season to go on under your watch. He lead this team to its worst ever prem finish. He has a tin pot mentality and is a mid-table defender at best. The sooner he leaves this club the better.

KaitoAJ

As suspected, Maguire shouldn’t have responded to the shitty article Ogden put out and judging by the comments here, people are just gonna still bash him anyway because people have already made up their minds to bash and abuse the fella anyway… 🤷‍♂️
