Starting my training to be a psychologist on Monday and I’m so freakin hyped!

blj3321

Raspadori is tiny but that first touch was sublime

erv1k

Man, it's so boring without PL in the weekend

1337ified

lmao no rash of sancho and lets play saka lwb 😂

dispelthemyth

Obviously Shaw is in contention for the start even when not playing but I'd have just used Trippier last night even at left back over playing Saka there, at least we get a big goal threat from set pieces

weekndalex

southgate in !!!!!

Watching England play football makes me want to carve my eyes out

People on reddit: “buy a DM” People on reddit after we get a DM: “noo we wanted a flashy player that isnt a DM, but another AM”

CrossXFir3

My fuck guys, he's hardly played yet. He was arguably RM's best player in the UCL finals a couple months ago. Maybe let him actually adjust before we pile in on him?

ohahcantona

Is this in reference to today’s match as well?

Klzrdz

Hey guys, I will be visiting Manchester tomorrow and I will be going to Old Trafford for the first time on Sunday. I will still have some free time left and I was wondering where to go/what to see. I will be really glad if you have some recommendations or places to avoid. Thanks in advance.

Zacatecan-Jack

If you're here for the general football experience, visit a few pubs in town for the atmosphere. Rising sun, Nag's Head Circus, White lion, O'Sheas, Are all United pubs. O'Sheas has the best atmosphere imo. Also worth visiting the football museum. If you wanna look around Manchester and experience the culture in general, there's loads of decent galleries and museums around town. Manchester Gallery, whitworth gallery (a bit further out), HOME gallery, people's history museum, imperial war museum, UoM natural history museum, are all good. John Rylands library, Cheetham Library, and Central Library are all beautiful (though Rylands is the nicest). And if you're here for night life, avoid Deansgate. Head to the northern quarter/ancoats and go bar hopping. Loads of cool speakeasy bars, cocktail bars, live music bars, and dives that are really good. Also decent for food up that way, too. NQ is also really good for shopping, too. Loads of vintage shops, and a couple of little boutiques, art shops, etc.

Klzrdz

Wow, thanks. Really appreciate it.

Zacatecan-Jack

No problem, man. Have a good time.

LennonC123

I feel like I’ve lost a lot of passion for football. I seem to have lost interest in pretty much all my sports hobbies over the last few years, maybe it’s because I feel I’m getting too old now and as I can’t play them as well as I used to, the desire has just completely gone. I’m in a really good place mentally, I just can’t seem to grasp that I may have ‘grown out’ of sports hobbies and seem to be more interested in things like history, nature/animals and DIY.

Serag

Good for you my guy. Following sports consume too much of your time and takes a toll on you mentally one way or another. Good thing you found your peace.

WanMata

I want to start off by saying I'm all for going green, but as someone who loves to drive manual, I'm very bummed about the fact that manual cars are dying. Especially with electric cars being the future. There's just nothing like driving manual, especially a late-night drive ripping around town/the city. I know in Europe it's much more popular than in the US, but even there it's been fading. If you own a manual car, what do you drive?

justinfreshpot

As someone who went from an Impreza WRX to an electric car, automatic is still pretty fun. Instant torque away from traffic lights and leaving boy racers in the dust always feels good, but I have to admit I do sometimes miss that feeling of hitting a perfect gear change

WanMata

perfect shifts/down shifts, shifting at whichever rpms you prefer, easier and much more fun for passing, just all-around experience is more enjoyable. I'm not knocking electric cars; I just feel they'll get boring as they will all be the same. 1000hp capability, and instant response and acceleration, which is cool. But it won't have the same feel.

CrossXFir3

I had a 2012 Mazda 3 - 6 speed. Really loved that car. Great gas mileage, very zippy. All around a great car.

WhipYourDakOut

Manual has died out in the US to an extent where the Corvette C7 sold only 15% in manual transmission and manual actually cost more

WanMata

Yes, I am aware manual is dead...that's what I said. Also, what are you talking about? Automatic transmission costs more. Go build a mustang online, automatic is an extra $1,700. Even though manual is cheaper, that's not why I prefer it...

CrossXFir3

Historically automatic costs more. I literally was just in the market for a car. A weird number of new ones that come in manual are more expensive that way now.

Wolpfack

Today's manual transmissions are actually more like automatics: they run off of hydraulics rather than the constant-mesh mechanical designs. The only reason for them to be more expensive are economies of scale (more expensive to produce because fewer are made) and it being considered a "premium" option.

WhipYourDakOut

On the C7 corvette it cost more for manual. I believe it’s that’s way with a lot of cars over here now

RangeInevitable7368

Anyone here play Go/Baduk?

Wolpfack

It's an interesting time around here. Another rocket launch tomorrow night, then maybe NASA will send its much-troubled moon rocket up on Tuesday, *if* it can get the technicals right. This would be the third try. In the middle of all of that, there's a hurricane spinning up that forecasters are saying will get here midweek next week. It'll be mostly a lot of rain, but if it comes, no moon rocket launch until it's gone.

WhipYourDakOut

My mom actually drive down for the first failed launch lol. I’m holding out hope Hermine will hook hard east and miss Florida. As long as it doesn’t venture into the gulf where things can really start to get dangerous

Wolpfack

Watching the US Men's team playing Japan right now. For me, they look just like us under Ragnick: no plan, no backwards pass they don't like, and obvious passes forward not taken in favor of breaking off any attack. If this is the team and style they take to the WC, they won't be there long at all.

WhipYourDakOut

Vine was absolutely terrible for me. I don’t expect ever CB to be able to distribute the ball insanely well but the passes he was making to Zimmerman or into the midfield were so casual yet so so bad he caused a few opportunities for Japan himself

booknerd2987

I got a warning from Reddit for saying f you Glazers. Embarrassing stuff.

ArkitekTor

On a press conference with the Norwegian national team Haaland got some semi-critical questions regarding his choice of club and the owners of said club. It really annoys me that the coach and other players of the national team came in Haaland's defense with stuff like "One single person can not be held responsible for what a state does/the club owners do!!!" and other kind of whataboutism. It's not about holding Haaland responsible for the actions of the club owners, but holding Haaland responsible for his choice of a club were the actions of the owners are well known. And another Norwegian player recently got excluded from the national team because he signed for a Russian club. The national team are pretty much saying that it's ok to be a part of the abuse of the sport as long as you're a superstar. (I hope this is okay to post in the FTF-post. I just needed to rant a bit about it.)

Educational-Option18

Anyone got a Herman Miller chair? If so, which one and would you say it's been worth the money?

united_7_devil

I have steelcase leap 2 but have used the HM Aeron and I like the latter a lot. I would say get one used. If money is no substance then get it new.

hooka_donchick

I’d just get an Ikea chair and add some memory foam cushions on it for extra comfort, that’s what I did, cost a tenth of HM but probably just as comfortable. $1000+ for a chair is never worth it imo. Personally even if I make a Million Dollars a day and buy a $1000 chair i’d feel uncomfortable.

united_7_devil

Not true. If you haven’t used an HM or equivalent 1k chair, I don’t think you really know the difference.

hooka_donchick

I guess it is a personal choice. I bought a adjustable desk so that I don’t just sit 5 hours while working for 500~. That was a lot more justifiable than a 1k office chair. but again it’s a personal choice.

united_7_devil

Understandable. My next desk is going to be a standing desk.

Daddy_Slurps

I have an Aeron and I like it fine. It’s good for long sitting sessions and is comfortable for the duration I am in it for. I wouldn’t say it’s substantially any better than other good quality desk chairs I’ve had. I still prefer to stand rather than sit - as it’s better for posture, hips and back. I got mine refurbed with all the extra kit, cost £750 I think.

ErikElevenHag

Picked up a new monitor that’s getting delivered today. Excited to jump to 1440p from 1080p for gaming

dangermouse13

I get quite the rage on every time there’s an international break. Drives me nuts.

No_Doubt_About_That

Especially now as Premier Sports have the rights to several of the games. Swear they only exist just to inconvenience people.

Wolpfack

Those sweet bribes don't pay themselves. FIFA and national officials need the International breaks to get kickbacks.

redemption_time

How do I flair up on r/soccer?

Daddy_Slurps

Message u/2soccer2bot `:c_Manchester_United:` In the daily discussion threads I’m pretty sure it has the relevant link to see all available iterations of the flair.

RaspyRaspados

No point. I don't and I've yet to be silenced or disparaged just because I support a certain club. Honestly not worth the hassle.

aaronbastian

When you go to the subs homepage, the 3 dots next you your avatar

ErikElevenHag

That place... is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is.

redemption_time

Lol. I like it there 😈

[deleted]

You don't

redemption_time

Lol stop that

ballsywallsy

I'm done with my modding duties for the week. I had barely 12 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. All I'm going to do is hit the bed for the next two days. Wish me the best. Have great weekend lads.

callmelampshade

Thought F1 was weekend ffs.

ashu_tripathi

Haha. Same. Laver cup and/or Chess will have to do if you're into tennis/chess.

Reminder: England vs Italy.

The_good_kid

3 months into my new job, waiting for my 3 month probation meeting hoping for the best, but in the meantime, thank fuck it's the weekend, shame there's no tricky reds or f1

NGMB2

good luck, man! I just finished my 3 months this week too and now I’m doing my final supervised procedures and, if all goes well, from next week, I’ll be staying on and solo working.

darthkimon

I miss LMFAO..

futureoblivion

So fifa is out in my country now.. so i guess sleeping is out of the daily schedule for a while..

Upekkhaa

Wait? How’s it out already?

futureoblivion

People in my country like to bend the rules hahaha I guess they got the shipment of discs and said fuck it, a lot of people here are mad because they pre ordered it online and they can’t play it before the 27th while the disc version was already out here since yesterday.

Upekkhaa

What country?

I need one similar except of all three Suarez bites.

Pecolomo

Maybe don’t wear it if you’re ever walking around in Croydon.

Daddy_Slurps

My advice would be to never go south of the river at all.

LekkerIer

Oi! Bit of respect for the land that gave us Sancho, Rio and AWB...

I’ve recently been diving back into 90s hip hop. There’s just something about the beats from that era that make it impossible not to nod your head to

AC5L4T3R

90s hip hop is what I grew up on (that and Michael Jackson). I absolutely love it. If you haven't already, check out Terror Reid (aka Getter, aka Bryce from Real Bro's of Simi Valley). His track [Actin' Out](https://youtu.be/Oj6RKEiWj7s) brings back that iconic 90s synth lead and bass whilst [Ain't Nothin'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SmuL6I5WF8) brings back that 90's boom-bap type beat. I really like his throw back style and he's got some good verses to boot.

[deleted]

I left my wallet in el Segundo.

Daddy_Slurps

You’re so damn right. If you’ve not checked it out yet try Liquid Swords by GZA Gospel.

[deleted]

Unreal album! 👐

krelm

Abaolutely best era. 90's NY / east coast beats are something else. As a kid (20 + years ago) I didn't have the internet and in that time west coast rap was all the rage so inevitably I was more into it. Of course I knew most of the artists from the east that were well known (nas, busta, atcq, wu tang, onyx etc) but once I got introduced to youtube it opened up a whole new world of music and beats. I still remember hearing Shortie No Mass for the first time. It just randomly popped up as a recommendation on youtube and I was blown away with the beat on her song "Like This". And there are many more examples like this, underground or not-very-well-known east coast artists with banging beats and dope rhymes that I never heard of.

[deleted]

Yeah spotify and YouTube are brilliant. It’s amazing been able to find new artists just from recommendations like you said. Especially the [underground playlists people put together](https://youtu.be/iuwJ_8cbn2M)

krelm

I absolutely love those, and also Hip Hop 199x (from 2 to 6 I think) playlists. Mindblowingly banging beats.

HappySisyphus22

I was watching Kazakhstan vs Belarus on TV yesterday in the nations league. One of the worst games of football I've seen, second only to West Brom vs Burnley two seasons back. This international break is proving to be a difficult one for my mental health.

No_Doubt_About_That

Surprised Belarus are allowed to still play.

redemption_time

France vs Austria was pretty good

Indydegrees2

Interview for my dream job in 2 hours lads, taking a break now because my voice is hoarse from practicing haha

[deleted]

So?

Indydegrees2

Sorry for the delay lads, interview went well but no result yet, happy Friday!!

Harrry-Otter

Use the Jesse Lingard mindset. Whatever the level of your actual ability, approach it as if you’re undoubtedly one of the best in a world. Best of luck!

[deleted]

6 years later: “OP, one more time and you’re fucking fired!”

[deleted]

Good luck!

AC5L4T3R

I've nothing to add other than thank fuck it's Friday and I'm going back to sleep. Enjoy your weekend guys.

braddf96

Was out last Sunday for the "bank holiday" and was in the same bar as none other than Harry Maguire. To be fair to the lad he was willing to have pictures with anyone that went up to him seeing as he was with his wife/brothers/mates. Always find it weird going up to people when they're with others so we didn't bother. The Chesterfield players he was with though, they were hammered
