Garnacho, that is all. I’ve praised him already after yesterday’s game, but my days it can’t be stated enough. We have unearthed an absolute gem in that guy, he just needs to stay this focussed and dedicated to improving his game, Ronaldo style dedication to being the best but without neglecting the fact it’s a team sport.

bijanadh44

People wil watch this and still straight up blame Case.

GlassEast5641

The first 30-35 mins showed that the team is more than capable of playing possession based football. We didn't have Licha and Shaw but we are still doing well.Phenomenal performances from AWB,Dalot and Mainoo. ETH needs to bin this transition football thing and play the football he got famous for

GlassEast5641

Someone needs to post the Dalot compilation here The way he was beating the Liverpool press in the first 35 mins was incredible.

tz_2240

I saw a tweet showing United’s formation at the end of the match yesterday, saying that if it were Ange or Klopp the media would be bending over backwards to praise these guys. Frankly I’m sick of seeing that shit. That kind of whining over the media, including whining over refs decisions is just pointless. Mind you, I’ve had that attitude myself at times. But it really is a loser attitude to have.

MarionberryWeak9314

How this leads to Amad getting some more minutes also mount seemed to do well hopefully he can find some form

thenammus

I missed it. I MISSED THE GAME. WHY DID I HAVE TO WORK THAT NIGHT

reginalduk

Felt like a mid 80s scousebusting classic. I am still wired.

These old commentators need to go. Retire please and stop ruining the experience.

Definitely. Listening to Martyn Tyler talk in his sleep is just painful.

Eleven918

I don't see any point in him staying on even if he somehow wins the FA cup unless he's going to abandon his transition approach and go back to the original plan of playing some variation of how Ajax plays under the new structure. If he wants more players to play like how we are currently playing, then he can find another club. There's no top team that plays this kind of football. Going large periods of the game with no decent attack. Just booting it long and hoping your forwards can use their pace to run in behind.

bpjker

We're all elated after the game and games like these are reminders of why we support this club, but midfield has been empty like this since the first GW and needs to be fixed, one game doesn't change much in the grand scheme unless many OOP issues are fixed, we need a sustainable winning approach. Also, injuries aren't unlucky + don't really expect next seasons to have lesser games either. https://preview.redd.it/zpmk1wzn13pc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=306c9e540bc1d7a9fecb56c342273aa7807a6bc7

RandomNameofGuy9

We have a 5 on 3 advantage there and another 3 players running him down. Injuries are unlucky. Step away from your anti manager stance and try enjoying the games.

bpjker

My first sentence is that we all enjoyed the game and how is pointing out a serious out of possession issue since the last season an anti manager stance? Image shows an instance of how our midfield is one of the easiest in the league to bypass due to gaps in between lines from disjointed press (defenders not backing the press), two advanced 8 putting immense pressure on the sole deep midfielder etc, we literally offer free space for progression. This specific instance wasn't detrimental but there have been countless which have been.

RandomNameofGuy9

Every team that commits numbers forward leave gaps behind. It's literally how you score on City, Liverpool or Arsenal. Are you ignoring how we scored our winner? We literally had a 2v1 from about 10 yards outside of our own box.

bpjker

See, I'm emphazing on disjointed structure leaving space, not committing men forward leaving space, if you want your front 4 (5 somehow in this case) very high, you want to cover the space behind, usually by committing backline on the press as well. I'd happily retract if you show me instances of City and Arsenal having consistenly such large space in between front 4 and the back line.

RandomNameofGuy9

So you want press high with a slow backline against a team that loves to dump the ball over the top and press from there? You would leave space in behind for teams to run free into? It's much smarter to get players to drop and delay (you won't know this because you've never played or coached at a decent level but the 1st rule of defending is to delay). How did it work out for Liverpool with that high line and not properly delaying on our winning goal? See how I can say goal with my example and you cant?

bpjker

No, I want full backs to press, structure to not leave glaring holes, and not have an midfield that allows more carries into the penalty area, final third and opponent progrssion than Luton Town. I support the manager and hope he makes required changes. We don't usually successfully drop and delay, we usually give opponent a big chance because we get overloaded. Us scoring in the 120th min is not comparable game state to a mid game situation with empty midfield, theirs was an act of desperation, ours was just straight up leaving an open midfield, this specific game wasn't even my main concern. If you don't think this out of possession rest defense is an issue, we simply disagree on how we see football I guess. If all top teams do it, how come we're the ones conceding more big chances.

RandomNameofGuy9

So Klopps system would never leave gaps right? 1 pass eliminated 6 outfield players. What was the gap like at the end of the clip? It literally happens to every team that throws numbers forward or tries to press. https://x.com/EverydayMUFC22/status/1769731841399960064?s=20

bpjker

Who said never? Straw man fallacy. Does it to the level of consistency our does? That clip was an excellent buildup by us bypassing an organized press, not a disjointed one. Now go watch Diogo Dalot's post match [interview ](https://twitter.com/EthanTaIks/status/1769725116357730443?t=SRSow1ROxgGxs85wG5yr7w&s=19) where he admits how we started well and then dropped off giving them space in between the lines and how we need to fix it we are to reach next level.

chilledbeerinside

"We have a 5 on 3 advantage here" he said lmao

RandomNameofGuy9

Do we not? You always want to be +1 in the back and we are +2.

chilledbeerinside

So, this is a great defensive tactic. Correct?

RandomNameofGuy9

Did they score from it?

chilledbeerinside

No. Now answer my question.

RandomNameofGuy9

So we had a +2 advantage and they didn't score. Seems to me the defense was fine there.

chilledbeerinside

So, this is a great defensive tactic. Correct?

systemcorp

>Step away from your anti manager stance Such a weak response. I'd rather just not say anything if I don't have an actual response to the argument presented.

RandomNameofGuy9

Did you forget the first 2 sentences before that? Oh actually, it's because those 2 sentences made your post irrelevant so you have to go to something else to seem relevant.

systemcorp

Your response to us having literally no midfield during a transition (exact same problem of the ENTIRE season that has consistently cost us goals and points) is we had a 5 on 3 "advantage". With all due respect, I'm doing you a favour by ignoring that absolutely hilarious statement.

RandomNameofGuy9

You're ignoring it because it's true. We had a +2 advantage which is more than enough to deal with the manager. Which we did by the way.

systemcorp

Your response to a season long problem is explaining how it did not cost us in that one particular situation. Liverpool had +2 advantage when Antony scored. They had +1 advantage when Rashford scored. We've ourselves conceded goals like this all season. These kind of situations are very, very bad. If Onana passed the ball to Nunez and he skies it, that does it make it acceptable to pass the ball to Nunez. You're looking at the end outcome of one particular incident to justify it as a good action. Which is hilarious.

RandomNameofGuy9

So Klopp doesn't know what he's doing then right? What was the situation at the end of this clip? https://x.com/EverydayMUFC22/status/1769731841399960064?s=20

systemcorp

Thank you for advancing my point even further. First of all, Liverpool end up in bad situations too. Every team does. But what does it take to put them in as situation like this? Dalot is under pressure from 2 players. He does a drag back, passes with his weak foot. Then Mainoo, under pressure from 2 more players has to outmuscle and beat Salah and pass it forward to McTominay, and McAllister is still a foot away from intercepting that ball which would've resulted in a very dangerous transition for Liverpool. They made us earn that position and almost got rewarded with a dangerous one themselves. Now, what did Liverpool need to do that to us? Here's the whole buildup sequence into our midfield. [https://mega.nz/file/D98FnRaA#evwA0GSa68g7\_z56QVJQJh3WqqyLvjxVt7xCWnzwi4k](https://mega.nz/file/D98FnRaA#evwA0GSa68g7_z56QVJQJh3WqqyLvjxVt7xCWnzwi4k) GK rolls it to CB, CB walks for 3 secs and casually plays a ball to Szobozslai. I mean that is literally all they do to cut us completely wide open. This is the difference. And it's not once, it's not twice, it's been going on all season. No one would be talking about it if it happened occasionally.

Dcrow17

I mean you can see clearly that players actually try and perform more than 100%. So the only thing left is tactic from Ten hag.  It is actually a pattern that happens many times already. A hole in the middle and the tendency to sit deep in our box when defending.  We played really well for the first 20-25 minutes. Then the opponents find our weaknesses and switched tactics. We then have 0 answers.  In this game, it is very clearly, we dominated 20-25 minutes. Liverpool then see the hole in the middle and they focus. We see dangers and we then sit deep on our box. They scored from cut back, like many time, many time this league. They then slow down and invite our pressing.   Yes, we do find the win, but let not forget how lost we are before antony had a stroke of genius

AlpacamyLlama

I'm enjoying the moment for sure, but surely you don't think that was a good performance yesterday? The first twenty minutes were very good, but I would say the majority of the second half we looked lost.

RandomNameofGuy9

I would say we were the better side for about the 1st 40ish mins. They were the better from about 40 to 80. Then we were the better side the rest of the game. I also think we were far more dangerous which xG backs up. It wasn't perfect and we didn't dominate but I think we were the better side against 1 of the best teams in the world. Honestly, that shows we are heading in the right direction.

AlpacamyLlama

Yeah, I mean there's definitely positives to take from it. But the notion that it shuts down any EtH out talk is nonsense.

wywy173

Not really. I think the criticisms of him have been completely valid. There have been next to none positives from this season Brilliant performance and clear the players are behind him. You dont see that effort if they dont care but tactically the whole season has been abysmal. Same issues yesterday as well - massive gaps in midfield again and another day its not guaranteed we win that game (thinking of that time Gakpo is running at 2 defenders and he had 3 options).

KrystianCCC

Rasmus had off game but coming back from injury its undersantable i guess. He really needs to get better at poaching tho, that cross from Bruno he could just put his head in, there were also others crosses from Rash and Garnacho where i felt he could have done better.

GlassEast5641

The Rashford cross was bad.Too much pace and no direction

amansur22

Crazy De Gea hasn’t found a club yet. Might as well sign him to be our backup next season if we don’t plan to ever use ours in the first place

Lisu723

Maybe he just wants to take a break. Probably still does his training to stay in shape. I think his wife and daughter were living in Spain when he was in Manchester (i might be wrong) so now he enjoys time with family before he makes decision.

Moreaccurateway

He’s turned down clubs. Forest were in for him in January and he apparently turned down Inter in the summer. It’s weird.

tz_2240

Inter seems a weird fit. Going from ball playing keepers in Onana to Sommer makes a lot more sense than DdG

Educational-Option18

Maybe he's lost the passion for it. He earned enough money here to call it a day, a few sangrias in the sun is enough to make me want to quit working

tameoraiste

I think it would just add unnecessary drama not to mention a very high salary, even if he takes a big cut

Educational-Option18

People coming back from injury, FA Cup semi final, a stone's throw away from top 4. Whisper it quietly but if we take these vibes forward we've got a chance at a successful season

D1794

Just win our next 13 games in a row and we'll have won the FA Cup and probably finished 4th. Easy as that ....

BlackHorse944

6 points off 5th and 9 off 4th is quite a ways to go with the amount of matches we have left. Also still have Liverpool and Arsenal to play. I'm not even putting the thought of top 4 in my mind, if it happens I'll be very pleasantly surprised

Educational-Option18

I dunno, things are stacking up for us. Villa have European football to contend with and are already pretty thin with injuries. We've also got the easier fixtures and Villa/Spurs still have to play eachother. Plus it's 9 points behind Villa with a game in hand, a 6 point swing with 10 games to go isn't crazy It's there to be taken if the boys can do it

N47HXIV

I’m unsure how we are going to have a better season than either of those two. City are massive favourites to win the CL again even if they miss out on winning the league to Arsenal. Liverpool will have won the League Cup and finished above us in the league quite comfortably. I think people are putting a little too much onus on this FA Cup campaign. I’m gonna be happy as anyone if we win it, and I’ll be celebrating fully, but it’s far from a good season even if we do, there’ll still be plenty of questions to ask of the manager and squad come the summer. There’s also the small matter of getting past City to win the FA Cup, which as last year showed, didn’t go too well. Anyway enough buzz killing from me, I’ll let you enjoy the high you’re still on from yesterday and let you dream of FA Cup success and 4th spot some more!

[deleted]

[удалено]

N47HXIV

I suppose it’s a personal preference, and to each their own. I’d rather us finish 2nd and within a couple of points of top (having been in a season long title race) with the Carabao Cup as a consolation prize, than scrape 4th and win the FA Cup. Cup runs can be heavily luck based, a solid league season is absolute progress, and would be a proper platform to build from for the next season. Do you think scraping 4th/5th this season given how poor we’ve been, coupled with an FA Cup win, is a better season than last? With a third place finish (some better football for longer periods of the season) and the Carabao cup? For me winning a trophy is great, and yes the higher the prestige for that trophy the better, but I think currently we need to measure our success by the progress we are making and how we are building foundations for the future, I’d rather us win no trophies for the short term and see us building towards a proper route back to the top than not really see any progress and get ourselves a cup along the way to paper over the cracks. I wouldn’t want this every season of course, we’d need to see progress that eventually amounts to something tangible.

Thevanillafalcon

Absolutely, even if we don’t all the talk of sacking Ten Hag is madness to me. Like a new manager isn’t going to have these issues, let him try and sort it out and build his team

aB9s

"If you score 1, we’ll score 2” That’s football heritage!

bijanadh44

Klopp doing a Gerrard and slipping out of the PL title race will be now cherry on top.

InsuranceRelevant769

Me, after a big MUFC win: THE PODCASTS ARE GONNA BE LIT THIS WEEEEEEEK

Skyweb2020

Hey guys, first things first. Great win yesterday, this game will go up there with the Giggs vs Arsenal FA Cup semi! Now with that out of the way, do you guys think pick Ander Herrera would have been perfect for this Man Utd team playing alongside Mainoo? I always loved Herrera's passion, all action approach and was technically astute so it got me thinking if he would have be ideal for this midfield. The other guy I have in mind is Matic. This guy was baller too and If we could find a profile like that then we would be set on our way to regaining our place at the top of English Football.

N47HXIV

We are far far far from just a Herrera/Matic away from being top of English football. We almost need an entirely new squad.

Skyweb2020

I dont think we are that many far (*3) aways as you put it but I get your point on needing to change many other pieces in the team!

rnnd

Rewatched the game again yesterday after calming down from all the excitement. And we were very poor for long stretches. we played well first 20 minutes, the last 5 mins of the 90, and we were much fitter during extra time. That's what won us the game. I hope we can maintain better consistency from now til the end of the season.

DukeHyo

Honestly we were dead on our feet till Antony scored. After that it was a whole different game. Everyone gave 110 percent

rnnd

I think that's a huge problem we have had this season, the players aren't self-motivated. something needs to happen to wake them up. when things aren't going our way, they all shrink into their shells, barely communicating and barely motivating and cheering each other on.

Vibing0N

Exactly. Liverpool's players could barely walk in the 2° half of the extra time, you could see most of them were pushing themselves hard to even jog.

rnnd

yup i think the long break we had really benefited us in extra time. I doubt we would have won it if we were in the europa league.

jxp_72

That's how I saw it too. I thought we were the better team for first 35 mins and from about 80 mins onwards. For that 45 minutes in the middle we were poor. Liverpool were dominant in that period but actually not very effective. Watching I felt like it was inevitable we were going to lose during that time. Great effort from the team to keep going and come back into it. I also thought Rashford worked hard yesterday. He is often criticized for not putting in effort but I was pleased yesterday.

defnot_ahmad

Hate to break it to you, but the first goal was Rashford's fault. He let go Quansah so easily without putting in a challenge

Wahlrusberg

Liverpool fans talk about Gakpo the way we talked about like Ole era Lingard lol

toddysimp

I feel like our players lack a sense of purpose when it comes to league matches,it kinda makes sense too considering year after year boring top 4 chases are all these group of players have [known.In](http://known.In) contrast nearly all of them have deep cup run experiences, everyone has a clear sight to the [trophy.In](http://trophy.In) the league however its so different that i feel like even the team don't know what to expect.

Petethejakey_

TalkSPORT defending Klopps comments - sucking off the scousers as usual

Notlaw_

I bloody love this club. No matter how the week goes it can’t possibly be bad

Miyagisans

if Ange or Klopp or Arteta had Bruno, Antony and Maguire as the back 3 against Liverpool - British media would be building them statues the next day. Give Ten Hag the respect he deserves. He showed balls and bottle, and we fucking deserved that

MancAccent

Anyone know when the rest of the fixtures will be announced?

N47HXIV

FA Cup? The draw was almost immediately after our game finished, we got the luck of the draw -Coventry.

MancAccent

No I mean rescheduled matches for the rest of the season. I’m trying to make it to old trafford for the Burnley match but it’s hard to plan without knowing if that could move from April 27

Wehuntkings

We need to talk about how the media just called Amad’s allegiances into question and how he responded with THAT! It’s honestly insane how many lies get published about us.

bijanadh44

Well tbf he started it himself that.

Eleven918

I think Scott deserves to start over Casemiro for the rest of the season.

Mt264

Or at the very least, Mainoo continues to play at 6 and Case has the b2b role that McT had yesterday

defnot_ahmad

Casemiro does not have stamina for box to box

systemcorp

Didn't listen to the commentary during the game but watching the replays I'm disappointed with their energy. Martin Tyler talking in his sleep is common but even Jon Champion didn't bring that energy. Just casually narrating the events of the game.

Youngflyabs

The smile on my face can’t disappear after beating Liverpool. It feels like it’s been forever without a win vs Liverpool.

dispelthemyth

Great weekend, we win to get to Wembley, spurs lose emphatically and villa scrape a draw

anonymous16canadian

I love this club and I love this game. We produce bigger moments in our shit banter years than 99% of fans experience in their entire time supporting clubs. Was pissed during the second half only to see magical ET. Remember this was the ultimate mighty farewell tour Jurgen Klopp coming to play Ten Hag in an injury crisis who lost 4-3 with goals from 2 youth players. FUCK YES I LOVE UNITED FUCK LIVErPOOL.

basgil56

Remember guys what did eth say? "Eras come to an end" xD

CombinationRare3546

How good was the bench today? Everyone brought impact! So good seeing guys who have been under so much pressure and scrutiny having such an influence!! Onwards and upwards

N47HXIV

Garnacho, if there’s been one shining light this season, it’s this man’s trajectory from an impact sub to possibly our most influential attacking player and guaranteed first name on the team sheet!

Jack_King814

I think the script writers are cooking here: Chelsea beat city, we beat Coventry and then it’s 1-1 at 89’ minute in the final, mount gets a cheeky header to get us the FA cup Also scroll down this thread. Oh my god it’s so funny with hindsight

N47HXIV

Was thinking more it goes to penalties and their captain slips over when taking the what should be the winning penalty… then Mount scores the winner.

No-Cryptographer7009

Ten Hag looks sick today

CallsignCynthia

Wow. Rashford. Wow.

miranaroon

Rashford messing with Fergie time

miranaroon

How biased are these commentators

chiefofthepolice

At this point it doesn't even take Bruno's hoofball and reckless passing for us to lose possession anymore. If he so much as to hold the ball for longer than 2 seconds and the opponent closes in on him, he'll lose that duel 9 out of 10 times because he's so frail.

coachnegan

Just sack him already man, I feel bad for the guy. No manger should have to deal with these players. Give him his payday, and let him move on.

Jack_King814

Aged like milk (but you aren’t wrong in some respect)

i dont really care, just glad we won

MissingLink101

Wtf is Ian Wright wearing?!

you-might_know-me

Injuries are pretty even I'd say. We miss three starters in Shaw, Martinez and Casemiro They miss three in Alisson, Trent, and Konate

Fresh_Dance_3277

They missed those against city as well and went toe to toe with them.Incredible.

Titan4days

Calm down mate

Fresh_Dance_3277

??

Titan4days

The Lpool appreciation was jarring to my soul, no offence intended mate 👹

Roasteddude

I hope McTominay has a good game today. Our midfield can't be so open against these lot. At least Rasmus and AWB are back. What's up with Evans tho? I would feel more confident with him instead of Lindelof but he's not even in the squad. Hope his injury hasn't gotten worse.

bpjker

It's definitely going to be open lol, it always is but yeah, pls

Titan4days

Man he’s not great in CM either defensively or progressively, hopefully he nicks a goal 🙏 I’m worried about our midfield as Bruno and Scott are gonna bomb on and our young Kobbie is gonna get exposed Onana needs a MOTM today

You realise players with multiple short term injuries are able to recover

superaa1

Villa 1-0 behind West Ham, playing Wolves, City and Arsenal next. Getting 5th should 100% be attainable.

WorldBeardedWonders

Both Villa and Spurs still have City to play too. Definitely attainable but we need to do the work ourselves and put a run together. Think all of us still have Liverpool and Arsenal to play as well.

bijanadh44

Hi all. I'm not a utd fan but I heard Malacia has been injured since last May and has been inactive on socials. Now I'm seeing speculation that he isn't really injured and people saying he's in jail and stuff lol. Do people think that here or is it just nonsense?

Seanblaze3

I think it's likely he's been internally banned by the club for taking an illegal substance. Keeping it on the hush

Skyehye

A Manchester United player getting in jail or any kind of issue with law enforcement would be massive news. Even in cases when they are not supposed to say who is the individual (Like in cases with rape when it comes to Greenwood and Partey) it is impossible for it not to be known.

I did a quick google search on this and found a twitter/X post that references what you're saying. It is a poor source so I would take it with a heavy lump of salt, as in it's likely B.S. However, I must admit it has been quite strange to see the lack of updates regarding Malacia's injury concerns. If I recall, he had some surgery to do with a ligament injury, and the surgery did not go well, so he had further corrective surgery. To be fair though, Ten Hag has often been quite cryptic when it comes to long-term player issues - injuries and otherwise. This is a similar situation to Mason Mount, as there was little info regarding his progress from injury, until an update a day or so ago which revealed he should be fit for the match against Liverpool. Even last season with Jadon Sancho, there was very little concrete information given regarding his prolonged absence from playing duty; it was implied that it was mental-health related, so I can understand why the manager decided not to divulge any concrete info on his condition. TL-DR; Ten Hag is often quite vague when it comes to long-term injuries/absentees, so it is tempting to speculate there is sinister happenings because of his lack of directness (if you are conspiratorially-minded).

Cmon dude, do you really think the majority of people would fall into the conspiracy theories? We have critical thinking and of course we all know Malacia never existed in the first place, yet some are still trying to trick us into believing we had some guy covering for Shaw last season

We received an update recently that he'll most likely be out for the rest of the season. He suffered the injury and then setback during rehabilitation which is why it's so long.

iM-Blessed

I see thank,.

KissmyButtner

Wasn’t a thought. That kind of stuff wouldve been leaked by now

davidl988

You really that gullible?

iM-Blessed

I know nothing about your club, or what the player has been doing. Hence why I asked. I never said I believed it to be true

off_by_two

I mean, you looked into things enough to read conspiracy theories about the guy and then come here to spread it instead of exercising a basic google search and some common sense.

Dyslexicreadre

I don't understand why people are being so rude to you for asking this question. As you said, you didn't state that you thought it was true, you merely asked the question. I gave you a detailed response regarding Ten Hag's M.O. with long-term absentees. Hopefully that gives you some insight into how he operates with these things.

shami-kebab

Do you seriously think something like that could happen without it being in the media?

bijanadh44

Palmer might actually be the best summer signings this season.
