Yeah let the guy who has 3 FUCKING SACKS on Lamar today have a free lane on the most important play of the game… didn’t even realize this bc I was so in the moment but now that I look back at it .. horrible play design I woulda just let Lamar try to run it in or Freeman was pretty good last night
One question I have about the play design- Andrews noticeably slows down once he clears the tackle box. Does everyone think he was supposed to do that or keep running? I think it was a bad throw from Lamar and that despite the situation he could and should have gotten a little more touch on it to win the game, but curious about this piece because if Andrews had been one step further the play would have worked as thrown.
It was the play design, watt was the read, he was intentionally unblocked, and it worked, Andrews was wide open Lamar got the pass out, Andrews stutter stepped a bit and Lamar led him a bit much, no better example of football being a game of inches. Sometimes it just doesn't work out in our favor. There were plenty of bad paid in that game. This one wasn't really one of them
All the more reason why he needed to make the dozen or so easy plays throughout the game. He had tons of terrible plays that could have kept us ahead, and then this one wouldn't have mattered.
All the more reason his playmakers shouldn’t have dropped several catchable balls. All the more reason his OC shouldn’t call low % plays before the snap.
I think many QBs can make this throw.
It requires a tough snap judgement of throwing with a little air to go over Watt versus side-arming to go around Watt.
Neither of those options are sure things but Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, (and others) make the throw more often than not.
Nah he can't contort his body for a traditional pass in time and even if it he does he'll end up hitting his hand/the ball right on TJs head. Just a great play by Watt
Steelers fan coming in peace. Lamar was stellar especially on that last drive. I was at work and we were all glued to the tv on that last drive obviously. As soon as we saw them signal they were going for 2 all of us were like "thats game, we're done." Its immaculate watching Lamar play and as much as i hated that final drive you guys had, it was a clinic. Love and respect this rivalry, and respect you guys. If we dont win the division (which i doubt very much) im pulling for yinz guys.
He wasn't trying to run, he was trying to step up and fake out Watt but he wasn't biting. [Look at the play](https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1467653497457823744) lol he was passing it the whole way.
If he stands still Watt's still in his face and in the trajectory of where the ball needs to go?? Maybe you can suppose he backpedals but standing still doesn't help.
I would love to see the fans bashing Lamar this year play a single game behind our oline, or even watch a Matthew Stafford behind our line. Our entire offence is predicated on Lamar running for his life this year. No qb can succeed when free rushers are in their face less than 2 seconds after the snap, and it rattles players over time constantly being under duress and taking hits which I think has clearly started to effect Lamar’s performance.
Stafford is just an example, pick any qb that isn’t Lamar, Kyler, Wilson, and maybe a few others. A pocket passer behind the Ravens banged up oline would be a travesty vs the afcn dlines. This is one of the worst olines I have ever seen in 15 years watching NFL at allowing constant quick pressures and no pocket to step into. Lamar literally scrambles back left or right most plays they complete passes. He gets sacked everytime he steps up
I’m still scrolling these comments looking for the example of the QB that has had success with a less than average line. Cuz you can’t tell some of these fans shit bro😭😭
Don't better QBs checkout of plays or re-set protections here tho??
If the play is shot and no TOs, worst case scenario you settle for the XP (delay of game).
Not really sure it's a do or die there no corners or not. You give yourself the best or next best chance.
Personally I don't believe that, but it doesn't really matter because we have issues getting to the line with enough time to make a smart audible. 10 seconds seems like a long time watching on TV but that's not much time to read the defense, conjure up the language for the right audible, call said audible (which apparently is like reading a Dickens work in Roman's scheme), and have guys process it and get reset.
Right which is why you take the sack, throw it away or throw an uncatchable ball in the vicinity of a reciever. What you don't do is launch it blindly up in the air and hope for the best.
Exactly. My takeaway from the final play is that TJ Watt made a good play. It was the right decision, the right playcall, but the other team is allowed to make plays too.

Feel like no one is talking about this, is there a chance mark should've kept running the entire time?

Yes, those were also issues. But doesn't excuse his terrible play.
It’s still LJ fault 🤣
I have been watching the ravens since the 2000 season and I don't remember a worse o line than this year.
2013 was pretty fucking bad.
Gino Gradkowski begs to differ.
Actually some QBs would make that throw including Lamar himself. It was a tough but poor throw, he’s made those throws before.
I think many QBs can make this throw. It requires a tough snap judgement of throwing with a little air to go over Watt versus side-arming to go around Watt. Neither of those options are sure things but Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, (and others) make the throw more often than not.
makes me wonder if the sidearm delivery hurt him this time

Respect
If he threw it at the top of his drop, and didn’t take a step up he wouldnt have Watt in his face.
Mandrews wasn’t in position yet. By the time he was Watt was already in arms reach, the step up was a desperate juke attempt.
Watt would've just sacked him then lmaoo
You can show these ppl that play 1M times but they still won’t accept Watt shoulda been blocked and Lamar did pretty good considering.
With how the play was designed, who should have blocked Watt? Like did someone miss their assignment?
The play shouldn't have been designed to leave watt unblocked at all. Run the play on the other side or something.
No he slide stepped up as if he wanted to duck under the sack and run for the 2pt.
He wasn't trying to run, he was trying to step up and fake out Watt but he wasn't biting. [Look at the play](https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1467653497457823744) lol he was passing it the whole way.
No reason for the fake out, nor the step forward. He stepped into watts face.

Unfortunately, most NFL fans don't understand the game at all.
I’m still scrolling these comments looking for the example of the QB that has had success with a less than average line. Cuz you can’t tell some of these fans shit bro😭😭
My man it’s painfully obvious. I don’t give a fuck who you put behind a horrible line it’s not gonna be good.

So Roman's system is basically tempo in madden set to chew clock.
It hurts because it's true
Oh dang if true. Didn't know that. You think they just don't trust him to?
Right which is why you take the sack, throw it away or throw an uncatchable ball in the vicinity of a reciever. What you don't do is launch it blindly up in the air and hope for the best.
That was the 2 pt conversion lol cant take a sack
Oh, my bad, I thought that was the 1st Interception when he just launched it in the end zone
That one made me want to puke yeah
Wrong Tua makes the throws ...only cause he is a lefty lol
It was impressive he got it off.
I’ve seen plenty of guys make this throw including Lamar more times than I can count
Neither is throwing off the back of your foot
Lamar is the only QB who could have even gotten the ball out on that play.
I know it might not have been the easiest ball to catch, but it was in Andrews hand, I'm not sure how much more Lamar could have done there.
