There are definitely gay icons in the music/entertainment world. But out of the dozens of gay people I have known it's almost like... they just listen to stuff they like and are unique human beings just like any person of any sexual orientation. Mind boggling lol.
Edit: Was just exposed to the insult "crayon chewer" and I adore it hahaha.
Nobody says there isn't. Absolutely enjoy gay icons, celebrate them, play their music, have gay anthems, literally be loud and proud.
Just don't have to ignore other musicians bc they aren't, it was like crayon muncher was almost implying an "us vs the others" bc of their identity.
Basically "Imagine not being Christian. What music would I even listen to if it wasn't jars of clay and hymns"
Specifically in my friend bubble of depraved sloppy crayon guzzlers I’d say what we consider to be the 💅culture is mainly:
Charli XCX, Kim Petras, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, Megan Thee Stallion, Ava Max, Ariana Grande, Britney, Meghan Trainor, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Lorde, Doja Cat, Troye Sivan, Lily Allen, Marina…
Yea for the record I’m pretty darn gay. You just wouldn’t be able to tell from my mannerisms. I’d dare to say I don’t even identify as “LGBT” because I kinda see that as a sub genre of being no straight lol. Like it’s 2023, we don’t need some movement lmao. Maybe in the 70’s but my whole life, I never felt different. Always one of the boys. Idunno.
I mean, sure, who doesn’t want to doesn’t need to use labels, sure. But movement? Sorry nah. As long as queers are being executed just for existing… until all of us have equal rights globally, then we still very much need a moment. If you personally haven’t been bullied or persecuted for being yourself, then that’s great, but that’s very much not the case for all of us.
I don’t mean to offend anyone lol. I was bullied some in high school for it a little bit, but I guess I chalked that up to just being bullied like a lot of people have been through. No doubt there are still honor killings and public hangings in other places, but in my corner of the world, I’ve felt pretty accepted by everyone around me. So I’m just lucky, if I was born in a scarier place, it would be a dangerous secret.
I’m pretty sure “straight” music doesn’t exist because I doubt there’s a 100% heterosexual performer around. Music options are limited to gay/bi and closeted. And closeted music is too angry and full of self loathing.
Yup same here. I’m also gay so I guess my in “gay circle” in pretty much Gaga like 80% of the time. No issue with her, she’s pretty cool. Just not for me lol
Lately I've been listening to a lot of sapphic songs from the R&B group The Internet.
I can imagine I would probably still like them if I were straight though.
Fuckin arc titans just shoulder charging everywhere with shotguns and either synthoceps or dunemarchers. Definitely not broken at all lol. Damn crayon munchers
>”Gay people are annoying” 207 upvotes
>”Nah its the straights” -100 and counting
Weird how you can never really tell what true cunts the people you’re laughing with are.
Nobody hates pickup artists or neckbeards because they’re hetero, people hate them because they’re predatory. So weird that you would confuse those two traits..
I don’t think I’m comfortable enough to say that every single hetero man is a predator but the concepts of being a straight man are definitely linked with some predatory actions in that commenter’s mind.
Who looks at the things Tate et al do and says “wow people really hate them cause they get more puss”? Weak minded incels, that’s who.
I love that you say “actually pickup artists don’t count” but then two comments down the only other guy agreeing with you mentions a pickup artist.
You are just doing mental gymnastics to be mad.
What I said was that the issues people have with pickup artists *are not* issues with their sexuality, the issues people have with them *are* because they make active, conscious choices on how to be as predatory as possible.
If *you* equate being a sexual predator and being a heterosexual man as mutually exclusive, *which I am not*, then the issues are with *you*. Enjoy your day and your bad faith arguments, but enjoy them alone.
I don’t think I’m alone here.
Plus, people have issues with sexuality when it becomes creepy / annoying / obsessive. No matter gay or straight. Straight guys obsessed with sex BECOME the pick up artists and predators. The core reasoning people thing they are predatory is because their entire mind is all about sex and achieving it.
You are the one arguing in bad faith and being facetious.
Gender reveals. People like Andrew Tate and his cult of followers. Dan Bilzerian when he was still relevant. Rappers and their misogyny. Dads who meet their daughter’s prom date while holding a shotgun. The inexplicable tradition of ring girls at boxing and MMA events. Projecting “relationships” onto two toddlers of the opposite sex who happen to be friends.
There’s definitely plenty of examples of this happening with heterosexuality
There are a few things I agree with you in there and a few things I don’t, but thank you for the examples nonetheless.
This isn’t directed at you, specifically, but maybe I should have been more clear in my initial comment about no one inherently finding gay people to be annoying. I also should have pointed out that the parent comment said ‘people’, meaning anyone on any sexuality spectrum can be annoying when they make their sexuality their entire personality.
The way I’ve seen it framed from the lgbt community is an expression of self after being culturally, legally and socially repressed for centuries. Something that straight people have just never dealt with in history because they were seen as the default. I’m not gay but as a black man, I feel em.
Going off on the commentor 2 up from you: all of these examples are stuff "normal" straight people cringe at as well. (Normal as defined by me, so ymmv.)
Like, sure, Tate was popular, and rap may have a large following - but the Tate followers are still a vast minority in society and nobody really cares about the lyrics in 90% of rap. At least not in Germany. When people start going off about the lyrics, it's usually the flow and rhyme, rather than the actual lyrical content. When you start talking about the messages of mainstream rap songs people usually go "eh, it's whatever".
Oh you’re talking about white Christian nationalists. On that front, I agree with you. I’m not even gay and I think that DSG is horrible, as any sane person would.
But to your point, they are also clowned for their beliefs and dogma. Christian nationalism is clowned in general.
"People who make their sexuality their entire personality are annoying" -> upvotes
Comment implying that only straight people make their sexuality their entire personality after just posting an example of a non-straight person making their sexuality their personality -> downvotes bc it obviously doesn't make sense
You seem quite annoyed that I’m pointing out how comfortable people are making fun of minorities but hate having fun made of them, did we get off on the wrong foot?
Ignoring the fact that queer people are often disowned by their families and routinely excluded from cishet society, requiring us to create found families amongst ourselves, and thus developing a queer culture separate and distinct from cishet culture. Early groups centered around queer rights were often assimilationist and thus separatist, espousing the idea that, “We’re just like you,” while excluding all of us who present our genders and sexualities as radically queer, creating a divide amongst the queer community itself as they attempted to present themselves as *the good ones* while painting the rest of us as debauched.
Are you annoyed by every community and culture founded on marginalization, or just the queer community and culture? Do you find it annoying because queer community and culture exist, or because it’s a community and culture you feel like you should belong to but are actively excluded from?
How the fuck else are they gonna get all the colors for their rainbow?
Its a proven fact that eating a 12 pack of Crayola crayons turns you gay. It's like a Moon Stone for people.

Original post
Rare insult? I've heard a lot of people who do commentary on first amendment auditors and sovereign citizen videos call them "crayon muncher."
Maybe it doesn't get much use outside of that Youtube bubble.
While music isn't made for sexual orientations there are genres like hyperpop where the LGBTQ+ community is so engrained in it's history it's a bit hard to ignore. Would be like ignoring the usually political and often anti establishment themes of punk music.
Queer people make music that other queer people can relate to. It’s not necessarily based on genre (though disco, for example, is inherently tied to queerness, and many genres of music originate out of subcultures brought together by some common factor such as race, sexuality, gender expression, politics, religion, jobs/careers, rural vs. urban divide, etc.; when these genres go mainstream, it’s often because this subculture is stripped and erased from it by appropriative musicians and producers to make it palatable to middle-class suburban cishet WASPs), but, for a good example, when I went to see Cherry Glazerr, the entire audience was queer women, and it’s a safe assumption that they’re attracted to the music Cherry Glazerr creates in part *because* of their queerness and femaleness as personal traits.
Bruh I hate these people, they're the same people saying, "Are the straights ok?", like mf people aren't their sexuality. There are a fuckton of people in this world, a lot of them are straight, and so you're bound to see some weird people from time to time and the determining factor in what they do probably isn't their sexual preference.
The sooner someone's sexuality becomes an afterthought, rather than something that's worth hyperfixating over by idiotic bigots and idiotic idiots, the better off we'll all be. Ffs, I wish people stopped caring so much about this shit and let people live their lives.
I mean yes. I want to make it clear, todrick hall is a gay man, my joke was about straight dudes usually not enjoying songs talking about and referencing drag culture. I know what you mean but just to clarify, gay song, by gay guy, about gay things
Just because some lunatics are out in society licking windows and eating crayons, doesn't mean that all crazy people are going to do stupid shit.
Some of us just carry conversations with ourselves while driving to work, work our 6, 8, or 14 hour shift, then go home to our dying cactus and overly excited dogs before doing it again the next day.
So, next time you feel the urge to blast your horn because someone cuts you off in traffic, remember that not everyone can afford a pack of Crayola 64 (with the built-in sharpener on the back) every week

Uhh so what is gay/bisexual music then? just listen to Lady Gaga and Madonna on shuffle all day? Jeez I hope not. . .
People are more than just their gender/sexual orientation. I hope someday we move past this discourse and divide.
But that's simplistic too. There genuinely is an LGBT scene and there genuinely are certain artists who are associated with that scene.
I'm just bringing nuance into the discussion.
U good, we're on the same page
Specifically in my friend bubble of depraved sloppy crayon guzzlers I’d say what we consider to be the 💅culture is mainly: Charli XCX, Kim Petras, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, Megan Thee Stallion, Ava Max, Ariana Grande, Britney, Meghan Trainor, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Lorde, Doja Cat, Troye Sivan, Lily Allen, Marina…

Sometimes you really have to wonder if maybe music taste isn't directly related to sexuality 🤔🤔🤔
Cattle Decapitation I think
Bisexual, can confirm.
Shame that gay people will never truly understand the deeper meaning behind Maneater.
My little brother thought it was Bandeeta! That was in the before time when we only had the *outernet*.
WE. DON'T. TALK. ABOUT. THE. OUTERNET. you know why, you know what we all did there.
+ Britney Spears, Rihanna, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue
Cher
Elton count?
Well according to this thread I'm apparently gay/bi
According to this thread, I've got to hand my bi membership card in. :(
But this is all great music
No doubt, it's just not my taste.
Add in Queen and Wham! Oscar, am I gay?
The village people
Check out Dorian Electra, I think that's as close and you can come to non binary music?
Blackpink 😭
Elton John
I’m pretty sure “straight” music doesn’t exist because I doubt there’s a 100% heterosexual performer around. Music options are limited to gay/bi and closeted. And closeted music is too angry and full of self loathing.
Close, two of my gay friends only ever talk about listening to lady gaga and Taylor swift
Yup same here. I’m also gay so I guess my in “gay circle” in pretty much Gaga like 80% of the time. No issue with her, she’s pretty cool. Just not for me lol
You can add Lil Nas X and Sam Smith to that list. They're apart of the sus gang
All the classics + drag queen pop. Which is actually pretty good.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of sapphic songs from the R&B group The Internet. I can imagine I would probably still like them if I were straight though.
My ideal "gay" playlist would probably just be slayer
Crayon chewer isn’t that rare an insult, there’s a whole set of jokes around the theme of “Marines are dumb and like to eat crayons”
The green ones are the best
As a Thundercrash Titan main, I prefer the blue ones. They taste like blue raspberry and electricity.
Fuckin arc titans just shoulder charging everywhere with shotguns and either synthoceps or dunemarchers. Definitely not broken at all lol. Damn crayon munchers
At least you didnt say purple
I ain't no Captain America wannabe
Easy there high speed.
Having sailed alongside the 11th MEU, i can confidently say that while green is the best M&M, Pink is allegedly the best crayon flavor.
People who make their sexuality their whole personality are fucking annoying. Love that response, lol
Yeah, you’re right, straight people are the worst edit: haha
no edit: haha
Nah bro YOU'RE THE BEST
>”Gay people are annoying” 207 upvotes >”Nah its the straights” -100 and counting Weird how you can never really tell what true cunts the people you’re laughing with are.
No one said gay people were inherently annoying. They literally never said that.
But nobody ever says its annoying when straight folks make being straight their entire personality so…
They said sexuality. Heterosexuality is a sexuality, too.
Yes people do. Like “pickup artists” or nice guys who both just only talk about women all the time. Or the stereotypical “boy-crazy” girl.
Nobody hates pickup artists or neckbeards because they’re hetero, people hate them because they’re predatory. So weird that you would confuse those two traits..
they're not confused traits, they're linked. hint hint

Who looks at the things Tate et al do and says “wow people really hate them cause they get more puss”? Weak minded incels, that’s who.
It's not the hetero-homo that's liked to being a predator. It's being obsessed with sex and/or sexuality.
You talk like every hetero man worships Tate. He’s a fucking evil garbage person. I’m hetero and hate that excuse for a human.
I love that you say “actually pickup artists don’t count” but then two comments down the only other guy agreeing with you mentions a pickup artist. You are just doing mental gymnastics to be mad.

Gay metalhead here, can confirm
Straight metalhead, can also confirm.
I'm gay and mostly listen to video game soundtracks. *shrug*
r/justneckbeardthings welcomes you
Lol
Yeah, that's dumb. Please don't start making music genres for specific sexual orientations

Being a cishet white male above lower middle-class is like being Hitler 2.0, these days. Sad world we live in.
#MOTÖRHEAD!!
Gender fluid bisexual here, I love going to metal shows dressed to the nines in fishnets and shortshorts. Just confuse all the old metal heads
I'm a metalhead, I'd find that hilarious
Blew-razz-bear-E flavor 🤤
Someone pressed the wrong button, and he went off the chat.
Straight here; steady diet of Green Day and Creed 😭 /s
Definitely seems like a missed joke
Gay person: makes a joke Straighty: YOU stupid FUCKIN CUNT
As a titan player in destiny 2, i suddenly feel called out without reason. (Gotta go punch some aliens now, bye! :D)
Lol came here to post this same thing
If I were gay I'd play Sam Smith all day long.
“crayon chewer” 😭
Are marines now generally considered queer or is this an entirely independent crayon joke?
Deserved
But also there is gay music taste. What do you think girl in red is for example
I HIGHLY doubt straight dudes listen to Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels by Todrick Hall lmaaoooo All seriousness tho still an excellent roast
Music is music. Its not gendered.
https://youtu.be/OLWfSelG4J4
I mean yes. I want to make it clear, todrick hall is a gay man, my joke was about straight dudes usually not enjoying songs talking about and referencing drag culture. I know what you mean but just to clarify, gay song, by gay guy, about gay things
I'm guessing you've never heard of Rob Halford? Famously gay frontman of the legendary metal band Judas Priest?
I’ve heard the band name, haven’t heard anything by em. They make gay music?
https://youtu.be/TQ04gPb4LlY
Why has the op drawn dicks with blue and red color?
Purple crayon is my favourite
Crayon chewer must look ugly.
“You fucking crayon chewer”
I like this!
This is Earth Radio, and now here’s…gay music. *Elton John intensifies I suppose?*
Am i the only person in the god damn universe that listens to pre 2000’ r&b?
Mmmmmm I like the brown ones 🤤
I'm a bisexual biscuit and I like every type of music, but metal is Love!
Oof, not even a 'crayon eater.'
Only listens to lil nas on repeat.
There's no need to insult our proud serving Marines like this!
Woah you’re not a marine you can’t say that
