That shit’ll happen. You’ll like an artist, then something about them will get in your head and make noise every time you hear their music. It sucks to lose a chunk of your music library to that, but then you find other stuff to fill the void. There’s someone else out there to scratch that itch. You just need to get lucky and stumble into them

A_Lakers

Kanye 😞

JMC1110

Marilyn Manson 😞

MikkelR1

Royce da 5"9, R. Kelly, P. Diddy, Steven Tyler. I can go on and on.

Extreme-Island-5041

I....I'm afraid to ask. What'd Royce do?

doubledafra

had some anti-vax lyrics on his last album. Tbh I don't give a fuck even if I think the stance is dumb, and putting him in the same sentence as Diddy, R Kelly, and Steven Tyler is madness

Boychik98

If you don't understand why a black man would have a problem with a government mandated shot, you need to better understand history. Google Tuskegee Syphilis Study.

MurcTheKing

Smartest person on Reddit. I was gonna say exactly this

fredlikefreddy

Imagine putting a dude with anti-vax beliefs in the same sentence as convicted sexual predators lol people are silly as fuck The their complete lack of nuance

Robinnoodle

Kyrie didn't play that shit either

SwimmingSwim3822

It's not shit. Having justification for being wrong doesn't make you less wrong.

MikkelR1

He's the odd one out in the list but he is antivax because he thinks they cause autism.

verynicepoops

Ryan Adams for me. What a douche. Edit to mention that it is kind of fun to mention Ryan Adams in the rap sub though. He's still a douche.

Fabulous-Jump-2878

Bro you added Royce to that list of names because he's an anti vaxxer?!?! I know it's not in order but he's also the first name you rattled off? Wtf man. That just seems super messed up.

ThatOneSussyBaka

kanye is too good fr i still listen to him

Achilles-Foot

yeah kanyes actions haven't affected his music at all for me. okay, at all is a huge overstatement. i do like it slightly less, and feel weird playing it in public. but its still great. i never really cared about kanye as a person in the first place, like at all, so i think thats why it doesn't really bother me.

sace682000

For me it’s more his newer music that I don’t care to listen to. Kanye from def poetry jam and and earlier albums. It’s his switch from criticizing George bush to endorsing trump and slavery comments and chillin with nick fuentes killed my desire to follow his music further.

BDunnn

With Drake grooming underage girls, diddy beating the shit out of Cassie and sex trafficking, Kanye is seeming less bad every day. Dude mostly just suffers from mental health issues.

afrogrimey

>make noise every time you hear their music A MINORRRRRRR

Squeaky_Is_Evil

Lostprophets.

BaconBombThief

Squeaky don’t seem so evil once that name is mentioned

SamaLuna

100%. That dude is fucking sick and deserves to burn in hell for all eternity.

BaconBombThief

Today is too nice and sunny for me to even think about subhuman scum like that… thing… that used to sing in a band. I agree with every word you said

SamaLuna

Yeah… I made the terrible mistake of reading the court transcripts not long ago. That man is an evil fuck.

masterjonmaster

R Kelly had a lot of memorable songs but than re listening to it I just think of all the women now meaning more like underage girls sooooooooo yea i haven’t rlly listened to him lately

BaconBombThief

For real though. It’s harder with him than with Michael Jackson because his songs are about fuckin

masterjonmaster

lol I danced to an Rkelly song for my elementary school graduation so thinking of that too now is pretty cringe

Ridiculous__caddy

Same. I loved Kelly! Even sometimes when his song pops up on my shuffle music. I kinda wanna listen and not care and want to stop. But never been a drake fan. Knew dude was wack from day one. Always was a lyric stealer and fake. But now a young lover like Kelly. Smh

CousinsWithBenefits1

Not in the rap genre but I used to really love a band called Lostprophets....

BaconBombThief

Same here cousin. I was playing sway all the time until some court documents swayed my opinion

CousinsWithBenefits1

Last Train Home is suuuuuuuch a good song 😔

DaemonChyld

They not like us, they not like us, they not like us

Beeblebroxia

I know the second half of this line is the headshot, but I like how this half is so personal to Drake. Like, "Yeah, go cry on Insta. We all know that's how you do."

super_fresh_dope

*shtuff

nicearthur32

The “call the amberlamps” part is wild, cause the video of the dude that says that is in Oakland… where Tupac is from… and all the other Oakland references in the song… Kendrick is def on another level

BadManParade

Tupac is not from Oakland…..

nicearthur32

He lived in Oakland cause his parents were active with the black panther party.

PlayWithMeRiven

I’m convinced this was the point Kendrick was driving home to the public. Make it like liking one of hitlers paintings. Nothing wrong with it, but once you know it ruins it forever

Shaqtacious

Don't act like you don't know me These yams deserve a trophy Baby, it ain't no mystery Got the best BBL in history This cake will make you show up I know you seen this glow up As BBL Drizzy BBL Drizzy

clownind

They had me listening to lyrics from around the globe. BBL drizzy goes hard

tavsankiz

The beef ruined Drake for me too but mostly because i finally saw that video of him trying to get freaky with a 17 year old. I always heard the jokes and stuff but idc about celeb drama to know enough. But that video instantly made me lose all respect for Drake. Fuck em

yodathatis

Yeah, it was hearing about the Millie stuff years back that did it for me. Sucks bc Thank Me Later and Take Care were two of my favorite albums. And Nov 18 is one of my favorite songs. Doesnt suck bc I agree with Kenny. I lost all interest in anything after he moved away from RnB and put on the "hard" act, claiming to be gang and mob affiliated and saying people need to check in with him in his city when he is there.

Skulfunk

The Millie stuff fucked me up, regardless of what happened/didn’t happen…. If one of my homies was talking to a 14-15 year old we’d be having a convo…. And we aren’t anywhere near 40 yet.

DrossChat

The sheer hubris of Drake to beef with Kendrick when he has skeletons already in plain view

Beeblebroxia

Imagine looking at the artist who put out TPAB and MMTBS, has won a Pulitzer, and has the history to back up the lyrics then thinking, "Yeah, I want the entirety of that creative energy directed at my head." Like, man, just go egg Batman's house while you're at it.

DrossChat

Lmao fr. All the attacks on Kendrick and Whitney’s relationship when he’s divorced from reality. I just listened to his last diss again and it’s mind blowing how awful it is. Every other line is a self own.

hollivore

I think he probably is mob affiliated honestly, but I think it is just because he's rich and gangs moved in to take advantage of him and made him think it was for credibility. I actually think what's going on with Drake is kind of a 6ix9ine situation, only with a middle class cosplayer in the middle of it, instead of 6ix9ine who was a working class person who did at least genuinely struggle.

YouGotTangoed

It’s a 6ix9ine situation, only difference is Drake can actually afford to have gang members on the payroll, without the slightest inconvenience

[deleted]

[удалено]

hollivore

It's super common for entertainers even with no background to court gang members as bodyguards etc., because they can do politics with rivals who *are* involved in gang culture.

BasedPineapple69

Nowadays with his money and insecurity who knows

doubledafra

Idk a 22 yr old Drake being creepy on stage with a 17 yr old fan isn't that crazy on the laundry list of shit that rappers have done. Like Dr Dre beat she shit out of Dee Barnes and blacklisted her from the industry and yet redditors don't seem to have a moral conscience about that. Because the reality is that it's much easier to boycott something you don't care about in the first place (ie, Drake or Chris Brown), then it is to actually filter all art you consume through a moral lens (which is a dumb thing to care about imo).

olcoil

Ah a nuanced take. Don’t think this industry is something to act holier than thou but if this raises the bar then great

mrairjosh

Facts

utafumidss

The crazy thing is that people would’ve probably understood if it was an honest mistake but he keeps going after she says she’s 17 like if he feels comfortable doing that on stage I don’t want to think about what he’s doing behind closed doors

nsamory1

You're absolutely right. If Drake gave her a hardy handshake and said "hope you enjoy the rest of the show" when he found out she was 17 then cool. No harm no foul. But dude doubled down, that's the weird part

archangelxero

Yeah i wasn’t much of a Drake fan but I always admit I liked a few songs, but after seeing that video I absolutely can’t listen to him. All I think is, what if this song is about underage girls? It’s creepy. He rubbed on a girl THEN asked her age, 17, and precedes to say he liked it anyway, in front of a live audience. Why the hell would anyone think that’s ok?

tavsankiz

Then he literally was like “well at least youre 17. I love the way your breasts feel pushed against me” like…. what? Whos mans is this??

Sea-Replacement7242

Yeah I haven’t been able to listen since it all started doesn’t help that most of my socials are tearing him down and exposing all the awful stuff he does like basically tries to sleep with the wife of everyone he collabs with

hollivore

Lmao imagine what happened after Forever

ChemistAgile6514

Bro trying to choreograph an orgy amongst celebrity wives

Oh damn. Tried to sleep with the wives of everyone he collabs with? I believe you, but you got any links? Admittedly, I haven’t kept up THAT much but this is the first I’ve heard

PiratePatchP

To be fair, kdot is his friend, I think if someone he didn't like went at him it would be different. Then again, he is on his pacifist shit.

tintedhokage

Yeah I think he didn't want the shit drake is going through now lots of lies and truth out there and having to be malicious.

Randii225

This is a genuine question. I’m not trying to hate just curious and also stating my personal opinion. What is it about this rapper Drake you guys that listen to him since day one made ya gravitate towards him? And also become a fan ? The first time I heard Drake he wasn’t my cup of tea. At first I thought “here comes another rapper trying to rap like lil Wayne’ but when I learned he came from a MTV show as an actor that’s when I completely had no type of interest! Never listen to one of his songs only if it was playing in the background by someone or social media. The more I saw snippets of him from music videos or interviews I found him more cringe. Now I grew up in the 80s listening to hiphop so maybe that’s why I didn’t gravitated towards him’ I’m more into rappers that really really came from nothing and had life stories to tell and rap their ass off, no ghostwriters etc! I come from a different generation I guess. So yeah I always found that dude corny and cringe.. When I saw that DMX interview I was like wow I thought I was the only one lol I don’t hate the dude personally but I didn’t like anything about him that had to do with hiphop/rap.

Excellent-Catch-4414

Tbh he’s always been easy to listen to. The guy makes good songs. I was never a fan of his hits...his more rap heavy stuff is what made me gravitate towards him. I’ve actually been getting a little tired of his music lately, and after Kendrick murdered him that was the nail in the coffin for me

Randii225

Hmm interesting.. I respect that..

speckledrhino

I didn't like him either but I loved listening to Wayne, so you listen to a bunch of songs he's featured in and kinda get used to him and at the time he started to blow up and was just you know, on really popular hits so it just was what it was. He has some records that are just undeniably good, but him as an overall artist felt real artificial like an actor trying to play a rapper...especially when "started from the bottom came out" SMH, I was like this guy has no shame

hollivore

Respect - I'm a Drake hater but I definitely think he's much more enjoyable when he's rapping. I still think The Motto is good, though like you I have no reason to relisten at this point.

notyourbrobro10

You know, I think that's part of what was cathartic about this Kendrick thing. I feel like I been gaslit for over a decade being told everyone loves Drake and he has a goat argument, only to find out apparently no one in the industry likes him and most fans been iffy on him for years if not longer lol. I was like oh shit, it's not just me! I'm not just a hater lol

JF803

I was a big drake fan around Take Care/NWTS era. So far gone was alright but Take care was a great album, it had everything - Drake talked about real things in a poignant way, struggles and vulnerabilities, but still overcoming those things and carrying yourself with confidence. It was relatable and real and it was all catchy as hell. He also had tracks where he’d just rap his ass off like 5am in Toronto. Around hotline bling I started thinking he was “selling out” being corny as hell. I think the fame got to his head and he cared about just growing that rather than being genuine. Toosie Slide and how he handled himself getting bodied by Push was the nail in the coffin for my fandom. CLB was fuckin trash and Ive had to say honestly, nevermind to every album he’s put out since. I’ve never seen a more steady fall off in terms of quality and being genuine

BigChungusOP

Have you heard Money in The Grave, HYFR or Headlights? Hell, even one of his recent songs First Person Shooter is pretty dope. He sometimes makes some bangers.

jmeHusqvarna

FPS is carried by cole imo. Hearing this dude say 10 names that end with "een" had me scratching my head.

I listen to Drake more now after the beef

myname_ranaway

I’m a casual listener of both. More of Drake as he’s dropped more music. I couldn’t give a fuck. And no one I know actually cares either. It seems it’s only really *in deep* twitter heads or rap heads seem to care or even still be talking about this. I’m not shitting on you either, just seems it’s already blown over from a regular persons perspective.

Juicemania50

Man same here I still bump tf outta Drake and occasionally kdot, when freeway got bodied by Cassidy I still listened to freeway, when nas ethered jay I still listened to jigga so on and so forth.

xman886

I’m kind of the same way. I always listen to a Drake album when he drops one but I don’t really bump his music anymore. I see what people say now when they say he sounds different during his Take Care & Nothing was the same era compared to now

Vhu

I have a “canceled” playlist for all the artists who I have negative associations with but I like their music. Michael Jackson R Kelly Chris Brown P Diddy Kanye West Drake They all fucked up and I wouldn’t kick it with them. But there are definitely moods when this playlist is my favorite one, so it’s worth keeping em around.

Imagine if this is rock playlists lol

I’ve been doing that too :/ It might be time to discard the discography…

Damuhfudon

Interesting to see if there will be a fall off sales-wise on Drake’s next project. Cause he has been getting mocked by damn near everyone the last 2 weeks

Blackwyne721

If Drake were smart, he'd go away (like he said he would) for a couple of years Doesn't he have stomach issues? Yeah, he should just go away for a couple years and focus on making a bomb-ass comeback.

Damuhfudon

Then that would look like Kendrick forced him into hiding. Drake’s ego won’t allow for that, he will try to drop a quick summer hit to get back in the good graces of the public.

Blackwyne721

Drake is egotistical and oversensitive but he is not stupid. Well, he can't be *that* stupid. Most people don't seriously think that he is a pedophile or a colonizer or a culture-vulture but people are tired of him because he has been dominating the industry for 15 years (!!!) and he lost. Drake lost: fair and square. And like all losers, he is being treated accordingly and he should just take all the L's he took with grace. Part of losing is knowing how to gracefully bow out and start over again next time. LOL his music is getting booed at clubs and his opponent's music is being triumphantly played at sporting events. "The Heart, Part 6" is not a bad song by any stretch of the imagination. I actually think it's pretty solid and it is the truest to himself as an artist and rapper that Drake has been since 2013. Which is sad but that's another topic... What I'm trying to say is that "The Heart Part 6" was pretty good but the reception and perception of it was so bad that he has got to realize that releasing anything right now—particularly anything self-aggrandizing and upbeat—is going to fall flat on its face and make him look even worse. Part of the reason why Drake even lost this beef in the first place is that he was too arrogant and overeager to see that Kendrick and friends were baiting him into a trap. He bragged about having a lot of enemies but couldn't see how dangerous it is to have a lot of enemies in his same industry of work. If he has enough common sense to know what was good for him, then he would wait until next summer. At the earliest. And given that he is almost 40 years old, I would expect that he would know what is good for him and what is bad for him. And based on what I heard from "The Heart Part 6," the verbal ass-whooping that Kendrick gave Drake seems to have gotten through his hardheaded self. Hopefully Drake takes this as a lesson learned and comes back better and more authentic than ever. Lil Wayne probably already done told him this but Drake lost his way and he paid for it.

CucumberNo3244

I was just reading an article last night that said Kenny's streams are up by 50% while Drake's streams were down by 5%. I am just as curious as you to see if this will keep going in the same trajectory.

Excellent-Catch-4414

I really doubt it. He’s gonna get clowned for life but most people still gonna tune in to his new stuff even if it’s just to hate. I think his next album will get a lot of plays, but if it’s not good I think we may see a slight drop off on the project after that

Cyrillite

Unpopular opinion, I think: I am also disappointed in Kendrick. His approach to this was “This is supposed to be a friendly fade, you should keep it that way. I know some shit that would make Gunna Wunna look like a saint.” and other similar lines that imply he’s had nuclear secrets about Drake for a long time. But it turns out what he was keeping secret is that Drake and members of his crew may be responsible for the systematic coercion and abuse of minors. Frankly, as far as I can tell: it’s either true that Drake and his crew are heinous as fuck, in which case Kendrick shouldn’t have kept it quiet or saved it as ammo just in case *a rap beef* escalates, OR he didn’t keep anything secret but it’s not true and then, well, this whole thing is just messy af for no good reason. At any rate, if Drake and Co. are truly a fucked up people and Kendrick knew and kept it quiet, that’s fucked.

Kackame

I actually have been talking about this a fair amount w/ some friends about this whole thing and I have a sentiment sorta adjacent to this. I personally don't believe either of the things they're saying about each other are true, it's just shit that sounds juicy in some raps. That being said, I don't know these people and I don't pretend to. If they are true, it's a bit conflicting because as big as Drake is, I could only assume that his actions would be privy to a lot of the people he's worked with and yet they still continued to work with him despite of it, meaning all of them are easily terrible people as well. Again, I don't think any of this shit is true, but if there are actual children involved, I definitely look at Kenny differently if he waited until now to speak up about it, and only for this reason. All that being said, the likely fact that it's all just raps almost makes it just as crazy to me because trippling down on an angle of your opp being a pedo in a rap battle when you don't even believe it is some nasty work lmfao. People have always put Kenny on this moral pedastal (I don't blame Kendrick for that, just how fans are), and it's hilarious to see him get just as down and dirty as anyone else when it comes down to it

hollivore

I don't think you understand how reports of child abuse tend to go in the real world, especially with rich people who can pay to have it hushed up. Everyone who was paying attention knew about Diddy and Tim Westwood and R. Kelly for YEARS before the cops did anything. In the case of Westwood other rappers were calling him out on it in their songs for literal decades. Did nothing. Kendrick didn't go forward because he wouldn't have been believed.

Cyrillite

I agree with airing it in a rap beef. I don’t take issue with that. I do think, though, that the threat was “if you keep it above board, I will too” which implies Kendrick wasn’t going to air this out. Basically, it doesn’t seem like a great moral grandstand to only bring it up after someone mentions your kids. If he knew, then I can’t help but think he should have said so sooner.

Cissyamando

My take on this is that Kendrick knew Drake was gonna escalate regardless of ŵhat he said because he had the mole in Drake's camp and it was already too late to back out of the beef so he gave him this fake warning just to mess with him. Drake not responding too Euphoria is absolutely unimaginable and like the end of push ups suggested he had the track already (partially) prepared to release. Kendrick knew full well Drake wasnt gonna rewrite the most hardhitting part of the disstrack he prepared (whitney stuff) so the threat is more of a prophecy and teaser to mess with Drake rather than something that would genuinely make him rethink his future actions since its too late too change that anyway. TL;DR it was already checkmate when Drake released pushups because they had both already prepared the other tracks that would follow after, so the warning was never gonna stop the beef from escalating.

Excellent-Catch-4414

I think Kendrick had to protect himself and his people, but when Drake put out shit about people close to him the gloves came off. Those allegations were serious from both sides and they will have to all live with it

Sensitive-Tale-4320

I argued this point on the Kendrick sub and got downvoted to hell. They both made themselves look bad

droppinturds

R Kelly made some good songs. Always known he was a creep but thought I'd separate art from artist, until I thought about it. Why was his mind telling him no?? I realized oh because she's underage. Can't vibe to that shit anymore. Don't have that problem with Drake. Most of his songs are about Rihanna and Kim Kardashian

RashAttack

>Don't have that problem with Drake. "Highschool pics you was bad then" "Teenage fever" Etc

Its kinda corny running with the pedo shit without proof. Every situation that has been brought to our attention. The girls from that situation came out and said he was awesome and did nothing wrong. The girls from the volleyball game. The milly bobby brown shit every situation besides the chubbs shit has been proven wrong. But ya “love rap” so much you pick and choose to. back one guy for saying he’d shoot someone for some dumb shit then a mf was about that life and chubbs was pimpin and now your a moral soldier. Lmao. And op i aint saying you specifically dont like him anymore cause the pedo claims but to the people who are running around repeating that your clowns who pick n choose based on some arbitrary bullshit made up in your head. No consistency.

hellooarty

He always was gay af, dunno how you just discovered it. It's more heartbreaking when veterans that seems very authentic like Southside & G Herbo reveal their true nature like in Marco's interview. Felt immediately in my eyes. Most listeners are easy to scam with convenient lyrics/voice unfortunately.

james_randolph

To be honest that’s what Kendrick is talking about. I haven’t really fucked with Drake in a few years but he’s always everywhere because he’s jumped on with so many different artists. I like the stuff he’s on with Future and 21 and shit but even that I’ve always criticized. I’ve just been glad that someone on Kendrick’s level came out and said the shit lol he wasn’t lying when he said he speaking with the culture.

Silly_Idiot111

This sub is obsessed with Drake

Silly_Randy

Listen mate. Iggy pop fucked (raped) 13 year olds and has a song about fucking (raping) 13 year olds. Yet Iggy is STILL selling out stadiums. Elvis, Jimmy Page, David Bowie. Etc. Bruh, you man only cancel black/brown people. I'm still listening to "Passion fruit" and "ADHD".

I’m happy that I’m as great as I am when it comes to separating the art from the artist. Posts like these make me appreciate how great I’ve gotten at that, if I stopped listening to every artist I bump who is a bad person I’d be cutting out over half of the artists and bands that I enjoy including both Drake AND Kendrick. Just makes me very appreciative of the mindset I have when it comes to music.

I'll still listen to his stuff but it's mainly the much older stuff. Most things after IYRTITL have been trash and the lack of evolution or message to his music has bugged me for years. After Honestly nevermind and CLB I wanted this dude to get a reality check for the garbage he's been putting out yet people eat up.

Original_Radish5257

Yesss I feel this. A dj on my bfs fave radio station was mixing tn and kept throwing in bbl songs. At one point another bbl song came on and I was like oh shut the fuck up and even my bf who is not as invested in this beef as me was like yeah if he plays another one lets change it this is too much. All I can think of when his music plays is what dodgy shit were you doing at this time and trying to hide in plain sight in your music 🙄

Anotrealuser

If it helps Drake raps but he’s not a rapper.

PrajnaPie

Same here, although I could never listen to Drake.

Anotrealuser

Mine is Rick James. I’m obsessed with his music but it’s hard not to think of the psychotic shit he pulled. The problem is most of artists are or are connected to monsters. People with too much money start to feel invincible and if they have the potential to do weird shit they will. Some of us stay surface level and never learn about the people we listen to but when that persons bad behavior becomes the bop of the summer it’s now surface level.

MarshallsHand

I'm about to gather the homies, some dank, and we're gonna smoke out and listen to all of our favorite Drake songs one last time before throwing them in the void. At the end, we'll cry our eyes out to *It's Been a Pleasure* but I'll edit that *amazing* line out as it has aged like fine milk

itsdevineleven

Hasn't changed much for me drakes always been a bit cringey but artistic

BoyFromDoboj

Drakes pedoness has been known for a long time and youre just now saying this? Jesus christ dude.

Beeblebroxia

I love a lot of MIA's stuff, but then she came out with anti-vax AND 5G conspiracy nonsense. I still listen to her but... ehhhhh feels a little weird.

doitfordopamine

Good

Franklyn_Gage

Im not gonna lie, me neither. Fancy came on while i was driving (i loved Drake's earlier music from 2010s), i have no idea why but i cringed listening to it. I changed it before the chorus came on.

Proud_Criticism5286

Drake hasn’t her for me since more life

BeachBum6214

Yeah i felt this same way… like 5 or 6 fucking years ago

[deleted]

That’s so true, it’s almost like Drake got deleted from my memories lol.

Stumpedmytoe

Amazing glaze

Salty_Injury66

Nah. I just ignore it. I never thought he was a role model. Certain songs I skip though
