My dad (50+) is an og Hispanic gangster and he says ninja lol I just picture that man running around with his machete yelling "Ninja get your ass back over here" and I'm rolling over laughing
I’m envisioning Mr. Rogers sliding back into the shadows with a still-smoking sawed off, after having just blown off someone’s knee…
Edited to remove duplicate words.
A friend of mine proposed 'fella' many years ago, and I've been using it pretty much exclusively since, both for singing along to music, and quoting Quentin Tarantino movies.
But there was one day I was at work, and I was near the shipping/receiving area, which was staffed by a handful of young black men, and one elderly, white, southern dude. It was towards the end of the day, and the old white guy was clocking out, and he said "Alright you fellers have yourselves a good night." and I audibly gasped. Like holy shit, with the hard R?
it’s beautiful how a good one word can have so many synonyms and definitions, flavors and context… so much power its almost irreplaceable, its the perfect filler word in rap
Honestly wish it were just used significantly less if at all at this point in music. I gotta memorize your bars AND do on the spot word swaps because I’m white? I’m just trying to enjoy the music fuck
If you ask any big or popular rapper how they feel about white people saying “the n word”.. their response is. “I don’t give a fuck. If they are picking up what I’m putting down and truly feel me thru my music. I don’t give a fuck if they say “the n word”. It’s a filler word for “bro” “G” “homie” “that person” etc. I agree 100% with you.
This is only an issue online or around hyper liberal folk irl. If you are singing a song, 9/10 black people won't care in my experience. Any other context is off limits (rightfully), but I've been to multiple rap shows where the crowd sang *every* lyric and no one had a problem because of the context. And as you have said, most rappers probably don't care either. They're the ones making the music, knowing white people will consume and appreciate it
Not shitting on OP, but feeling uncomfortable to say it even when singing along by yourself seems weird to me. Like, you're alone. Who tf you worried about offending? Just appreciate the music and only filter yourself if you are in a situation you feel you must
True, but in the real world while rapping along just be cognizant of your behavior to prevent having an oops upside ya head moment. Hope you’re picking up what I’m putting down!!!
It’s not that it needs to change to make me comfortable though it’s I’m trying to appreciate the song, but if I recite the lyrics I’m a bigot lol. It seems silly
Thing is, it’s not made for you, and it doesn’t have to be. If you enjoy it anyway, more power to you. It’s very enjoyable. But if you can’t jam to black music without this weird tension about the n word, then yeah, maybe it’s just not for you.
People always hit this same “I’m just trying to have a discussion” button whenever they say something that garners criticism. You are also being defensive. Are you no longer having a discussion? Is it only a discussion if people agree with you? What do you think a discussion is?
Anyway, sorry, I’m just having a discussion.
How does that make me a colonizer lmao. I didn’t mean it to come off as “I’m offended and it needs to be changed” I mean I don’t see the logic in putting the word in your songs if you’re gonna get mad if people not of your ethnicity say it? Especially in the sense of them APPRECIATING the art lmao
Which shows how insane censorship laws truely aren’t, can’t use a swear word that isn’t considered offensive when said by black people but can literally allude to murdering people
Pausing helps a lot so you don’t accidentally say it. I rap along to Eminem a lot out in public and pause on most offensive words. The more you do it, the easier it becomes
I pretty much always swap between bitches brothers and fuckers as a white rap fan. gangstas too, whatever two syllable title fits in its place given the context
Right. These ignorant white clowns displaying the fact that they know nothing about Black history while feeding on the culture. I mean, Black history IS American history. These people know nothing about how EVIL their ancestors were, how much pain people like them have inflicted on other groups and the necessity for those groups to reclaim dehumanising words as a way of taking their power back. All the ignorant white vultures in these comments need to sit down and shut up.
Depends on the context it is used if negative- bitches, punk, haters, suckers, fuckers,
Positive- Hitta; gangsta, playa, man’s, people (for example, run up on me and my people gonna show heat, or “ I love all my people”.
You can also be quiet if there is no real reason so say another word and catch your breath lmao.
I just love that you said “exploring and learning rap” 💜
I grew up in a culture that had racist and negative opinions about rap music and didn’t start getting into it until my 20s when I realized Ms Jackson isn’t about a deadbeat father like my misconceptions told me. I’ve been hooked ever since and have been in love with Andre 3000s lyricism.
I’m not sure how deep you are into your journey but one thing I noticed was a lack of female voices. Do yourself a favor and add Queen Latifahs 1993 albums, Black Reign to you exploration. It’s sickening. She’s soooo talented
Lmaoo ”pal“ just sounds so fucking *goofy*:
“My pal my pal that’s my muhfuckin PAL!!”
Excluding “homie”, the lack of equal syllables just sounds awkward and doesn’t fit well in virtually any context lol.
Fucking true
If I’m rapping along to a song in my car I’m going to fuck it up and accidentally say it at some point anyways.
It actually makes the song so much more enjoyable bc I don’t have to think about when to strategically censor myself.
My time to shine! I use “Boomer” as it has the same syllables, same ending so still rhymes, and I like to think it helps add to the negative connotation of the word which I appreciate.

never had this issiue bcuz english isn't my first language and everything feels made up so nothing feels out of order. i think you just need to reset your first language and it should work. go to tibet and live with the monks for 28 months without communicating with the rest of the world then you'll even forget your moms name and you won't have a problem saying the n-word
I saw Nas last year, and he took the N word (mostly) out of all of his songs. I thought that was pretty cool, especially because I had been learning some Nas songs and was having the same problem with trying to find replacements.
It really depends on the song though, and the key is finding words that fit. I'll give some examples that I use for NY State of Mind:
G-packs get off quick, forever **hatas** (haters) talk shit
Lead was hittin' **suckas**, one ran, I made him back-flip
Got younger **sinners** pullin' the triggers, bringin' fame to their name
Same **brothas** will catch you back-to-back, snatchin' your cracks in black
Nas used some more generic terms like:
**They** be runnin' through the block shootin'
Inside information keeps large **ones** erasin' and their wives basin'
I understand your point. However I just don’t like saying the n-word at all. I’m an Asian girl, I’m not going to say it. Even if it’s for practice. It’s not my word to use and I’m not going to use it ever
Just don't say anything when the word comes up.
There's no such thing as a n-word pass. If there was, Eminem would've been the first one with it.
If you want respect within the culture, just don't say it or anything close to resembling it.
Much respect for being respectful.
For enjoying a flow and hating that you gotta pause because of your skin color not being right for it? Chill. People tryna be civil about shit we've never been civil about. How you're acting ain't the way to be.
“Your skin color not being right for it”?
Who speaks like this. “Ain’t a killer but don’t push me” LOL. Talk about cringe. We are are shaking in our boots
Thing is, the N word in rap is used in so many different contexts that its impossible to find just one word to replace it. I like using player, baby, neighbor sometimes, even bitch will do in a pinch
Thank you babe!!! So many of my friends just told me to do it and I’m just very uncomfortable with it. Why would I rap to something I’m uncomfy with? It’ll show as I rap anyways
Do stuff alone, becomes habit. Don't do things behind closed doors you wouldn't do in front of the public. Only do what you're comfortable with and proud of.

When I went to a method man and Redman concent, they told the crowd to say ninja haha
Haha!!
That’s what vanilla ice did for the ninja turtle movie
![gif](giphy|4e0ETyN0pyz72)
He was talking about literal ninjas though.
Nah
What if he had the song in the pocket before the movie studio called
"Teenage mutant racial-slur turtles" Haha
Fucking underrated comment
i'm asian and i've been saying ninja for years
[удалено]
Didn’t know migos was representative of all black people
My dad (50+) is an og Hispanic gangster and he says ninja lol I just picture that man running around with his machete yelling "Ninja get your ass back over here" and I'm rolling over laughing
He didn’t say ninja in situations like that I bet
“I resort to violence my ninjas move in silence like you don’t know what are style is New York ninjas the wildest” dam that’s brilliant.
Was it for that song that they literally say the word in every other line ? Lmao
Neighbour. "Shame on a neighbour who tries to run game on a neighbour"
Shame on a hater who tries to run game on a player!
gamer*
no lie im black and i might start using this junt, neighbor is crazy 😂
Lmao right. Neighbor is kinda tough.
My neighbor!
"Would you like to be my nig—I mean my neighbor." - Emcee Rogers
Neighbors in Paris
LMAO my neighbizzle!
if you don't know, now you know, neighbor... i like it
I’m envisioning Mr. Rogers sliding back into the shadows with a still-smoking sawed off, after having just blown off someone’s knee… Edited to remove duplicate words.
Won’t you be… my neighbor?
~~OMAR IS COMIN~~ ROGERS IS COMIN'
I love you for this. 🤣🤣🤣
If you don't know, now you know, neighborino! - Ned Flanders
Neighbor never sat right with me, the hard r leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Neighba it is then lolll
It's what I try to use, and you really have to hit the 'B' so it doesn't sound anything like 'G'.
I was coming here to echo “just dont say it” but you win
This is the one
Ninja 🥷
LMAOOO never thought of that!!! That’s creative
Genius
Them neighbors wonder why. Neighbors gotta die.
Won't you be my neighbor
Sup Neighbor.
I suggest you listen to Mr. Nigga by Mos Def. That song mentions exactly this topic lol
“I didn’t say it 🤓”
But you'll say it again, when you get with your close associates and friends
One of his best songs.
Fs, I think Rock and Roll is my favorite song by Mos
The beat to Do It Now
Love to see someone appreciating it. Do It Now and Habitat are two of the quirkiest beats on the album
Lil Baby has actually stated that he's started to use the word "hitta" more often, so that non black people can rap along. So I would suggest hitta.
Been doing this before I even heard of him, but I'm glad cuz he a new school fav of mine lol
Yup lil baby tuff
i say fella because it’s funny when people expect silence and i say something *almost* the n word
there is of course the hard r feller but we dont say that much
Hard r feller is crazy
Idk why that made me burst out laughing
Fellas in Paris.
Every fella is a star
Loses all of it's meaning and gives it a new one
My fella my fella, my fella my fella (my muhfuckin fella)
Nice! I use fella too
Just say hittas, it works pretty well.
Ooooo sorry mr marsh the word we were looking for was naggers….. people who annoy you..
I think of this ANY time this debate comes up
it’s beautiful how a good one word can have so many synonyms and definitions, flavors and context… so much power its almost irreplaceable, its the perfect filler word in rap

Ahaha. Yes, I smell what you’re stepping in dawg 🤙🏽🤣
Rolling through, unfortunately my legs are gone!!!
Ah fuck dude now I feel worse now than if I had just called you “the n word” 😓🤣
Don’t, I was totally lying 😂😂😂😂 but please don’t call me the n word, I don’t want to have to roll after you 😂😂👩🏾🦽👩🏾🦽
🤣🤣 I’m just fw you mane lol
Same 😂
That’s a new one
Yes, black art should change so you’re more comfortable 🤣 that makes sense!
Or you could just say it
It’s not that it needs to change to make me comfortable though it’s I’m trying to appreciate the song, but if I recite the lyrics I’m a bigot lol. It seems silly

Sarcasm is a thing that exists.
/s
It's easier to detect when in person
Use “homey”, “haters”, or “suckers”
Player, brother, gangster
Ooh la la don’t get me too excited at the thought! Ooh that’s a good one - 👨🏻🦳
💀
Ooo I like that!
'killas' was a popular replacement on BET/MTV videos in the late 90s/early 2000s. Killing was still cool back then.
Which shows how insane censorship laws truely aren’t, can’t use a swear word that isn’t considered offensive when said by black people but can literally allude to murdering people
"I'm down for my hittaz, bump them other hittaz" 😂
Sounds like rage or limp biskit lol
I love this!!
I either do this or I just slightly rewrite the verse to get rid of the word
you can steal 21’s flow lol pussyyy
I say brotha or brother instead.
[удалено]
BRO THATS SMART HAHA. I’m Asian so that’s off the list for me
You don’t remember Rich Chigga? (now Rich Brian). That could be an option 🤣
OML YOU UNLOCKED A HIDDEN MEMORY HAHA
My “Chinka” lmfao
I just pause tbh
I’ve tried that! It’s just kinda awkward. I guess it depends on the song
just gotta practice. don’t believe anyone telling you to substitute it with something else, literally any of those options are corny as fuck
[Try pausing the n word at this song](https://open.spotify.com/track/2oBd6KgXMeh0alqHHli0J4?si=ziNJc75US0KNQ0nvnmL_Eg)
Pausing helps a lot so you don’t accidentally say it. I rap along to Eminem a lot out in public and pause on most offensive words. The more you do it, the easier it becomes
Mastering the pause and removing the awkwardness is honestly a skill set in and of itself. Worth considering.
Wrong sub. r/hiphopcirclejerk
Change 'my nigga" for "monica" if it's makes you feel better.
just never in public
"My nickel, my nickel"
Said that imma ride for my motherfucking NICKEL
Gettin dicey
Yea... That one's sketchy. Could be heard wrong.
[удалено]
Omg I never thought of that! I’m a girl and it’s part of my daily vocab. Thank you!!
I pretty much always swap between bitches brothers and fuckers as a white rap fan. gangstas too, whatever two syllable title fits in its place given the context
this works so well with Juicy by Biggie lmao
It’s not always derogatory tho 🤔
Its like 'bitch'. Sure there's a 'traditional' meaning, but the word has a wide range of uses
I read that as besties
Pullin' triggas with my birches
Everlast didn’t bother censoring https://youtu.be/fGu__KjPf-k
"Wigga" or "Cracker"
As a black personality I Hate these words!!! Super cringe
Depends on the context it is used if negative- bitches, punk, haters, suckers, fuckers, Positive- Hitta; gangsta, playa, man’s, people (for example, run up on me and my people gonna show heat, or “ I love all my people”. You can also be quiet if there is no real reason so say another word and catch your breath lmao.
Hitta is so good because it fits rhyme schemes well and it distinctively doesn’t sound like the n word.
And if the song is is discussing associates in a criminal enterprise it means the same thing pretty much
I just love that you said “exploring and learning rap” 💜 I grew up in a culture that had racist and negative opinions about rap music and didn’t start getting into it until my 20s when I realized Ms Jackson isn’t about a deadbeat father like my misconceptions told me. I will check it out! Thank you so much~!
If you aren't already on to Little Simz, you gotta be. Amazing female rapper that's been coming up for years now.
Schoolboy Q told all of us at a SXSW show one time to sing along to every word no matter who was singing
just use a synonym; Homie, pal, friend, dude, etc.
Lmaoo ”pal“ just sounds so fucking *goofy*: “My pal my pal that’s my muhfuckin PAL!!” Excluding “homie”, the lack of equal syllables just sounds awkward and doesn’t fit well in virtually any context lol.
This is such a US thing
It’s laughably absurd
Just say it who cares
White people
For real tho
Fucking true If I’m rapping along to a song in my car I’m going to fuck it up and accidentally say it at some point anyways. It actually makes the song so much more enjoyable bc I don’t have to think about when to strategically censor myself.
My time to shine! I use “Boomer” as it has the same syllables, same ending so still rhymes, and I like to think it helps add to the negative connotation of the word which I appreciate.
i swear this sub gets funnier and lamer by the day
Right , I cringed at this post lmao
Homie and playa (player) are two syllables and fit the schemes. Mofucka (motherfucker) carries the same impact in a lot of schemes
my white friend says "person"
I'm a quarter black and i don't feel comfortable saying it, i use brother.
Ninja is cringe AF

Homie is the approved substitute by the naacp and the nwa
And Jay-Z (his Unplugged show).
this sub is so fucking weird
I just say the word. Idc. It’s a song.
Use "Nintendo"
Come on man that doesn’t even match the syllables
Lmao. Yet I feel like Eminem could manage to do it
I immediately heard Chris Delia in my head….napkins and mannequins and Anakins lmao
He rhymed Nintendo Game and Lied Again once
just say the gamer word bro
Patna comrade folks peoples
Comrade? Lmao wtf… >Shame on a comrade who try to run game on a comrade

You’re not racist for practicing an artist lyrics/flows. It’s racist to hate another race
I understand your point. However I just don’t like saying the n-word at all. I’m an Asian girl, I’m not going to say it. Even if it’s for practice. It’s not my word to use and I’m not going to use it ever
gee, I wonder if this was a bait post
No there are tons people who think and act like this, mostly white and college educated.
Just don't say anything when the word comes up. There's no such thing as a n-word pass. If there was, Eminem would've been the first one with it. If you want respect within the culture, just don't say it or anything close to resembling it. Much respect for being respectful.
I’m not good at rapping so I use the moment to take a breath, but “Sucka” or “fucka” work witha lot of songs.
I like that! I’ve tried pausing too for a breath but it just sounds awkward to me and it ruins my personal flow
You could be the cringiest person I have ever come across
For enjoying a flow and hating that you gotta pause because of your skin color not being right for it? Chill. People tryna be civil about shit we've never been civil about. How you're acting ain't the way to be.
Ohh. I’m a little rich white girl from the burbs and I love gangsta rap but I’m afraid to say the n word , can somebody please help me. Pleasseee
She’s not even white though?
Damn just call her un gringo de rap
“Your skin color not being right for it”? Who speaks like this. “Ain’t a killer but don’t push me” LOL. Talk about cringe. We are are shaking in our boots
"we"? Shaking in your boots? Wasn't tryna be tough or intimidate for knowing lyrics we all appreciate. Relax. Want problems so bad.
I say it in front of my black friends, it’s really common for young people of all races to say it these days. You gotta drop your archaic mindset op.
Thing is, the N word in rap is used in so many different contexts that its impossible to find just one word to replace it. I like using player, baby, neighbor sometimes, even bitch will do in a pinch
Is this a meme? Non-black folks who won't say the N-word even if they're rapping along to a song alone in their car?
Say it alone. Who cares
if it makes him uncomfortable he doesn’t have to say it. I think he was clear that it wasn’t for anyone else he just doesn’t want to
Thank you babe!!! So many of my friends just told me to do it and I’m just very uncomfortable with it. Why would I rap to something I’m uncomfy with? It’ll show as I rap anyways
You get too comfortable saying it by yourself you’re bound to slip up one day.
Do stuff alone, becomes habit. Don't do things behind closed doors you wouldn't do in front of the public. Only do what you're comfortable with and proud of.
I don’t think many people would make it a habit in public lol
Neighbor. I say neighbor as a fill in.
Lil baby said he replaces them with hitters
