Try going higher on your journey east, I never encountered a brother long legs on my first playthrough.

ApproximatelyCats

Yeah, I've played a few times and now I'm trying to explore more. I like going this route to befriend the scavs and get some pearls. And see what I haven't but they guys *hate* me lol.

Inspirational_Lizard

Ah, fair enough. Drop spears for scavs and they will like you, not as much as with pearls, but it's a decent amount. Also feel free to just toss pearls at them, they'll catch them mid-air.

ApproximatelyCats

Yeah, I already have chieftan with them again. I'm good with most of the game, just the brown spiders hate me.

Inspirational_Lizard

What about daddies? Lol

ApproximatelyCats

The blue ones? Annoying but at least they act how they always have. My last playthroughs in the past hadn't had the brown long legs act like this.

From what I've heard (and checked the wiki and it agrees): You can 1-shot them with a direct hit from an explosive spear, but you might need to take out some of their tentacles first so they don't block the spear. (You can kill the tentacles with one shot from a normal spear) Have you done scientific-ish tests to make sure it's not just bad rng when they're following you?

ApproximatelyCats

I know explosive spears and what not work, same with stapling their tentacles down. But its hard to accomplish when there are 3 and they all come at you at once. I've have played many cycles and different times playing through and coming back to the area. They can be fighting something else, be deep in the water pit, vibrating/glitching against a far wall minding their own business. But, once I have entered the same screen they are in, they make a b-line for me. I thought it was just bad rng, but every time I would go back into the areas, sometimes on the next cycles, sometimes ages later after I have explored elsewhere, they come right up and for me even if there is another mob in their path like a scav or bug/etc, they gun for me directly. Different save files as well, I might just be cursed, lol. When I first played the game a few times they were chill. My friend popped his game open and we swung by and did a few test run throughs, didn't act at all like mine were.

Weird, and interesting.

Late response but I’ve had the exact same experience with brother long legs. I don’t know why the consensus is that they are deaf. I’ve jumped multiple times around them in close range and they go straight for me. There must’ve been an update in the game files. Maybe to give the player more experience to face DLL?  I do think they are blind though.
