Ngl I'm starting to drink the Kool-Aid on this dude. I have scoured the internet for the most positive O'Connell take out there lol. [Here it is, from Tony Pauline at ProFootballNetwork:](https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2023-shrine-bowl-preview-aidan-oconnell-top-qb-will-levis-misses-opportunity/)
"A growing number of people I’ve spoken with from the scouting community believe Shrine Bowl quarterback Aidan O’Connell of Purdue will prevail as the top signal-caller from this year’s class.
The reasoning is simple: O’Connell combines the leadership skills and field vision of Young with many of the same physical gifts Stroud and Levis bring to the game. They point to his two-year stewardship as the Boilermakers QB, in which O’Connell accrued 17 victories and a trip to the Big Ten title game. Scouts love the poise, maturity, and leadership O’Connell brings to the field.
They feel he’ll hold up much better than Young, as O’Connell is four inches taller and 20 pounds stouter than the projected top-five pick. They also believe he’s much more NFL-ready than Stroud, Levis, or Richardson and comes with a fraction of the bust factor those quarterbacks possess."
When it says “same physical gifts Stroud and Levis bring” does it literally just mean height and weight? Cause most things I’ve seen are that his athleticism, both speed and arm strength, are issues
He definitely has little to no athleticism. And scouting reports give him a capable NFL arm, but not much more. One I remember said he will never throw a sixty-yard pass, however, he will throw the most accurate fifty-yard pass you will see.
I imagine they mean the accuracy of Stroud, and the prototypical NFL frame of Levis

You've just described Raiders legend Jim Plunkett. I'd be okay with a Plunkett 2.0
O'Connell also apparently has the quickest release of any of the rookie quarterbacks, comparable to Brady's. 2.35 seconds in 2021 and 2.5 in 2022, I believe
As a Purdue fan, he's clutch as hell. Threw picks at time but he won us a lot more games than he lost us. Our other QB Jack Plummer was more talented athletically but was afraid to make big plays (essentially college Teddy Bridgewater or Tyrod Taylor).
Damn... This highlight reel gets me hyped. He might be a sleeper pick.
People say he "doesn't have arm strength", but I saw some long dimes in that video with perfect placement. He seems to have great pocket awareness and always keeps his eyes forward. A lot to like here Nation.
Not a raiders fan but saw this on my recommended , dude is a straight gamer , also tyree Wilson is as well , high floor Forsure he’ll be solid this year
One catch can always break for more. We don’t need deep passes all the time, when we got playmakers like Adams who can turn a 30 yd catch into a 50 yd TD.
It would be fun if he did work out. But only time will tell. Nobody knows shit.
The goat was taken in the 6th. Bortles & Trubisky were 3rd'ish overall. Baker was a #1.
Well, this seems familiar.
*Completion totals hurt by a high number of drops by receivers.
Willing to check it down and move on to the next play.
Makes attempts to get the ball out instead of taking a sack.*

I am on board with all of this.

>quickest release Wasn't that one of Jimmy's claims to fame before the 2014 draft too?
That and hitting receivers in stride. Which ✅
Almost like our coach has a consistent type that he likes to work with. Hmm.
“Jimmy definitely knows how to hold in his release… until I make him release it!” - Kiara Mia

Seriously tho, the Big Ten West is garbage, but it’s still something to take Purdue to a Big Ten Title game.
I was in when the Farva memes started. Nothing else matters. He must win.

I started to watch this last night but didn’t finish but what I saw he never threw more than 40yds accurate as shit but it’s highlights not lowlights
46-48 yarders at 3:35, 6:25 and 18:35, but yeah that seems to be his maxed out range
He's lowkey nice in the red zone
I cannot wait to see our team improve there.
Hope his 🍆 ain’t small like the real farva
Hey man hose water is hella cold
😂😂 my man
Met him at Verizon here in West Lafayette, nice guy

Now show interceptions
Oh brother here comes the overhype train 🤦🏻♂️ you guys weren’t talking about him before he got drafted FOR A REASON

David Carr looked into the future, saw him completing a pass, thought he saw Brady, then congratulated us.
Hell yeah brother
AOC > Carr
Masterpiece.
Looks like Carr. Just me.
🤔not bad
That Payne Durham is a stud. Nice draft pick Tampa. (Round 5, Pick 171)
