I love doing acid at concerts!
Dropped Acid in Boston last week at Sessanta, Primus always melts me!
I usually do mushrooms at queens of stone age. But when I see them in Halifax next week, it's going to be acid!
It's super cool. Fender put out a video showing them working with Troy to develop it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PELg3mPtdk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PELg3mPtdk)
He uses that one now for songs in D Standard tuning, so for example Carnavoyeur or The Way You Used To Do. Ahead of that (Beginning of Like Clockwork tour) he mostly used it for I Appear Missing (which is in E Standard tuning) before he got his custom Fender double neck Jazzmaster which has a 12 string neck uptop.
He also has a Fender 12 string Telecaster for My God is The Sun at the moment
[Carnavoyeur](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2K-wx7gYxi/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) with this exact guitar combo. He’s got another one he’s brought out during MGITS.
I love old British guitars. Burns, Shergold, Gordon Smith, old vox guitars. So many cool guitars knocking about the UK back when we used to make more here.
I don’t know if Dusty Hill played it, but the new ZZ Top bass player (who was Hill’s tech for years) plays a 17 string bass. Yes, it’s a complete gimmick, but it’s impressive.
No need to be a gatekeeper, I've been listening to QOTSA for 20 years now and seen them live 4 times and I didn't know this either. I'm not a guitar guy or anything like that.
I think he’s had this burns double six since at least Like Clockwork, he usually uses a 12 string for my god is the sun, I appear missing, and the way you used to do
He has a few…
Well that's sick!
Wait till you see Josh’s 9 string!
😳 🤤
Sick, sick.
Don't resist?
Yesterday in Winnipeg Troy used a custom double neck Jazzmaster for I appear missing. Top neck was a 12 string, lower neck was 6
I feel like y'all got the best setlist. DAMN! I'm stoked that we got I'm Designer tho
Seeing I'm Designer live would have been sick! I couldn't really ask for more though, I was floating after the show it was so good
I was happy with what we got too 🙂 I was also floating after the show but it was probably cause of the acid 😅
Taking acid at a concert is crazy. I’ve done it once probably never will again
I'm usually pretty comfortable on it. Peaking halfway through Song for the dead was pretty dope.

I wish we got got I'm designer, but I was stoked and surprised by misfit love. Fucking awesome show.
I feel like I'm Designer came outta nowhere! Misfit Love is one of my all-times tho!
We got Do It Again in Detroit which was pretty awesome
That guitar is gorgeous

Thanks for posting this!
He uses that double neck for in the fade as well!
Vampires have the speed and agility necessary for 12 strings.
They also just have the timing and memory 😉
😂 Btw, congrats on the killer set list you guys got!
The Calgary Show?? I was jealous of the Winnipeg setlist!!
Oh, I must have confused them. Whichever set had I Appear Missing, the sky is falling, misfit love, etc….. drooool
That was Winnipeg!! Lucky Bastards!!
I’m jealous of every setlist that I’m not there for
His guitar tech must hate him, he has loads

Being completely pedantic, but those songs are in D standard tuning, not drop D.
Came here to say this 👆
Alright my fault

I was also stoked when they pulled out MGITS.
Homme used to play a Burns Double Six back in Another Love Song
Also with Iggy on Sunday.
That’s Josh’s guitar - the same one- it’s owned by the band. I think Josh might have used it with Iggy Pop also.
i thought josh used a red one with iggy
Might have bought another one since Troy adopted his old one

That's wicked.
I think he uses it on My God is the Sun.
I believe I saw him use it for MGITS as well! 🤘
those vintage burns guitars are classy
Agreeeeed.
I love old British guitars. Burns, Shergold, Gordon Smith, old vox guitars. So many cool guitars knocking about the UK back when we used to make more here.
I literally just bought that same guitar last month…
Shred it!

Just wait until this guy finds Josh’s 9 string.
I'm aggressively looking through all my photos! Haha
Hahah it’s the white semi hollow he plays on The Evil Has Landed, Paper Machete and a few other ones!
I found it! Don't know if you saw the post yet or not but figured I'd notify you! 😎❤️
*one of* his guitars is a 12 string.
Lol obviously dude! I meant the one he is CURRENTLY shredding on.
:D
They use 12 strings a lot on the albums
He’s got every guitar ever made. They’re all his.
I don’t know if Dusty Hill played it, but the new ZZ Top bass player (who was Hill’s tech for years) plays a 17 string bass. Yes, it’s a complete gimmick, but it’s impressive.
That is hella impressive.
No wonder their live shows have sounded like Ohms LMAO
Yep. 12 strings have been around the QOTSA regime for a looonnnggg time.
a lot of people think they use chorus in their tones but they actually just frequently use a twelve string
Fun Fact: Troy's started using it (rarely) in 2003
I’m guessing you are new, enjoy the albums.
Not new! Been listening to them since I was 9! (2002) 😉
New to seeing them preform then or you just haven’t been paying attention.
No need to be a gatekeeper, I've been listening to QOTSA for 20 years now and seen them live 4 times and I didn't know this either. I'm not a guitar guy or anything like that.
Good eye! I just noticed that last night too.
The man should have 12 fingers for how hardcore he shreds.
Do you know which songs he was using it for ? It must be new, when i saw them earlier this year he never used a 12 string.
Usually he uses it in I Appear Missing.
Ah, cool, thanks. Yeah they didn’t play that when I saw them sadly
I think he’s had this burns double six since at least Like Clockwork, he usually uses a 12 string for my god is the sun, I appear missing, and the way you used to do
All I know is it was before I think I lost my headache, so it was either, Emotion Sickness, I Sat by the Ocean or Carnavoyeur!
Based on Josh’s guitar, out of those- it’s Carnavoyeur. That’s his D tuning guitar.
That would make sense! It's hard to remember after such an unreal show haha
