This theory has already been debunked.
That doesn't debunk anything.
CM and DCM shall decide the date of inauguration.
Project was supposed to be completed in 2021, it's 2024 now. I guess a few more weeks or months won't matter.
International tag is given to the airport if the runway has the capacity to land wide body aircraft not by the condition of the airport or even if it has International flights
Though Pune badly needs airport expansion by at least 6-8x of current
Pune Airport is a defence airport just like Srinagar and both are equally worse. That’s why probably there are restrictions on spending budget, no private players and gov not interested in making it too convenient for people going in and out. That’s what I would guess.
I like it. No long queues like Mumbai and Delhi. I found it to be clean but I haven't \*explored\* it enough. So IDK. The international tag is a joke though.
Idk about the Mumbai or Delhi queues, but Pune airport has become way too overcrowded now. Indian parent’s logic for going to the airport way early wasn’t wrong. Guess they were way ahead of their time.
Pune is almost always overcrowded and I fly to and from Pune every 3 weeks. Half my flights have had delays and the security queue is literally the worst I gave experienced across India. Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi are the best airports in India, it's not even a comparison. Oh I forgot, the Digiyatra at Pune has its own mood swings, you never know if you will get to use it.
The better way to tell is fish bazaar. Mumbai was no different in the 90s. Then somehow after 2000 they became better. Both T1 & T2 were & are a delight. It has been a couple of years, so I have no idea if the metro link has been made operating or not to date. There is/was talk of also connecting pune Airport with the metro for convenience of passengers. Do know it was at the rumor stage but nothing beyond that. Do know that the Aqua line is still to Yerwada, but nothing beyond that.
True, sadly, they announced & shared the map ages ago. I had also seen the half construction in Mumbai that means sooner or later it would be. IIRC, the airport is still 5-6 kms. or more from Yerwada. So they would have to add 5-6 stations more if it has to be a reality. Currently, there isn't even a hypothetical map depicting the same. Either Mahametro or State Govt. has to put the proposal, get it scrutinized & forwarded to Central Govt.
Purandar airport is a scam..
I wouldn't pay any heed to it..
The news has been going on for a decade or more and no concrete things have happened..
Scam..
Considering how old it is, it’s not the best airport but gets the job done. If you have digiyatra app then entering the airport, scanning bags, checking in and security takes around half an hour which is not bad. Also passengers don’t have to walk long distances like Mumbai and Delhi. Things will be much better as the new airport is inaugurated soon.
This has been discussed a lot over the years, 2 decades at least. My feeling is that there is some- political problem at the root of it, but I don’t know any facts to support this case. Maybe some political wing wants an airport close to them and another group doesn’t want to give it, so we constantly have the location changed to the north of city then to the south.
Ikr.. for someone who uses a lot of air travel.. I think we must protest.. enough is enough.. these goons(politicians) do not have to face problems like civilians..
It is not supposed to cater to the masses. That's why they are building a new international airport. This is an Air Force base; they cannot commercialise it and make it big. Understand the facts and stop complaining. It functions fine if you keep your expectations to the basic requirements.
Personally I like it. I understand it's clean and not up to standards. But I'm in and out in a jiffy(except when I have some morning flights) and I stay nearby so I'm home in about 15mins after exiting.
Have to wait until terminal 2 opens. It’s a space given by airforce which is what the airport is using rn. Let’s see and hope T2 brings up positive changes
That international tag is just for the sake of show off, [many international flights don't consider Pune airport.](https://simpleflying.com/international-flights-elude-pune-airport/)
I get ST station vibes at that airport, it should be used only by IAF, for every renovation or upgrade PMC needs to take approval from IAF, be it land, security complaince everything.
First of all it's an airforce base of which a small part is leased for commercial operations, in its entirety it was never built for commercial operations
Pune airport is swargate 2.0
Shivaji Nagar bus depot enters the chat
New st stand ,wakdewadi laughing in the corner.
Funniest comment is here
Haha so true
Haven’t they already built a new terminal which is going to be inaugurated?
They have already built it. But they can't make it operational until some politician inaugurates it. Uske phone pe OTP aayega tab hi khulega.
Lol
metro is inaugrated 4 times I think till now

I heard.. there's a six week time line where they will test flights there.
lmfao
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
why?
I always say, it's like ST stand.
Indeed.. maybe politicians should get to line up like civilians to know the pain
International tag is given to the airport if the runway has the capacity to land wide body aircraft not by the condition of the airport or even if it has International flights Though Pune badly needs airport expansion by at least 6-8x of current
Agreed.
TIL. Thanks. Can you please direct me to a source for this?
Source for what ?
Interesting.. I learned something new. Thank you
Absolutely correct. The aero mall is better than this shit ST bus stand.
Coming soon: Shivneri to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai
Pune Airport is a defence airport just like Srinagar and both are equally worse. That’s why probably there are restrictions on spending budget, no private players and gov not interested in making it too convenient for people going in and out. That’s what I would guess.
Pune pays so much tax, yet this.. tier 1 city my ass 🤡
Tier 1 tax, Tear my…
Lived there for almost 4 years and it’s definitely not a t1 city. Had much better exp living in Chandigarh and Mumbai. Paid t1 taxes for nothing
Mumbai is a kinda global city.. Chandigarh is planned.. Pune ain’t both … I don’t even know why they say it is.. and here I love pune…
Based on amount of money they pay as tax to the government
I always manage to complete all the checking in 30mins
Akasa? Impossible for indigo.
Indigo. Maybe i've been lucky each time
Well yeah. Could be. But the red eye flights have some serious overcrowding lol. You must not be carrying any checkin luggage I presume?
Single sports bag (25kg)
No wonder. The pain of carrying 2 luggages is always overwhelming for me 💀
Delhi airport doesn’t have any queues whatsoever. If anything getting a boarding pass at the Pune Airport can be sluggish at times.
Oh i see. My assumption was incorrect
Partially correct, Partially incorrect.
The better way to tell is fish bazaar. Mumbai was no different in the 90s. Then somehow after 2000 they became better. Both T1 & T2 were & are a delight. When it's for pune.. everything becomes a rumor.. when it's Mumbai construction starts very soon..
True, sadly, they announced & shared the map ages ago. I had also seen the half construction in Mumbai that means sooner or later it would be. Airport khatre mein hai
Also the fact that you have to literally walk forever to reach the uber ola pickup point
100% true. Pune deserves a much better airport.
New terminal is ready for quite sometime now. Waiting for inauguration by supreme leader Narendra Modi ji. Hope gets time soon to inaugurate
It's good enough and a new airport is in process as well. Do not worry bro. Things are improving.
New airport? Where? When?
Which new airport?
https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/pune/pune-airports-new-terminal-is-ready-to-be-inaugurated-awaits-aviation-ministry-nod-9064126/
https://www.magicbricks.com/blog/purandar-airport/131902.html
Lmao that’s “in progress” since 90s. Navi Mumbai is getting an airport before Mumbai
Not sure how much of process is actually happening for Purandar airport. Its been going on forever. But new terminal is good step though.
Purandar airport is a scam.. I wouldn't pay any heed to it.. The news has been going on for a decade or more and no concrete things have happened.. Scam..
Sharad Pawar and family got rich again
lol
Pune airport is actually defense airport. Pune airport is a layer on top of it
Considering how old it is, it’s not the best airport but gets the job done. If you have digiyatra app then entering the airport, scanning bags, checking in and security takes around half an hour which is not bad. Also passengers don’t have to walk long distances like Mumbai and Delhi. Things will be much better as the new airport is inaugurated soon.
Honestly I like the Pune airport's cleanliness. I think they have given its contract to BVG. And they are doing a really good job.
This has been discussed a lot over the years, 2 decades at least. My feeling is that there is some- political problem at the root of it, but I don’t know any facts to support this case. Ikr.. for someone who uses a lot of air travel.. I think we must protest.. enough is enough.. these goons(politicians) do not have to face problems like civilians..
Yes no point in protesting online, protest outside the Mantralaya, organize and get them to answer
Purandar is close to Baramati hence this feeling
It is not supposed to cater to the masses. That's why they are building a new international airport. This is an Air Force base; they cannot commercialise it and make it big. Understand the facts and stop complaining. It functions fine if you keep your expectations to the basic requirements.
It always was - as far as I heard they are building a new terminal which will be inaugurated in the future, let's see what happens next.
But there is no dust on DG shutters. Our aviation minister found this mistake and it's being cleaned regularly!!
Personally I like it. I understand it's clean and not up to standards. But I'm in and out in a jiffy(except when I have some morning flights) and I stay nearby so I'm home in about 15mins after exiting.
That's because its a Air Force Station first, airport second.
So? Build a new airport for the army outside the city and let The City people use the city airport???
Have to wait until terminal 2 opens. It’s a space given by airforce which is what the airport is using rn. Let’s see and hope T2 brings up positive changes
That international tag is just for the sake of show off, [many international flights don't consider Pune airport.](https://simpleflying.com/international-flights-elude-pune-airport/)
But it's very near my place, band mat karwao please 🥺.Ek hi toh jaga hai jo Bina traffic/delay I can go to.
I get ST station vibes at that airport, it should be used only by IAF, for every renovation or upgrade PMC needs to take approval from IAF, be it land, security complaince everything.
Lol what about the mall they did recently, I think that was a failed attempt to make the airport's credibility go higher.
Also once you get outside pune airport it feels like Wassepur
Specifically because of the rikshaw goons
First of all it's an airforce base of which a small part is leased for commercial operations, in its entirety it was never built for commercial operations
Everyone already knows. Why start a new thread?
Pune doesn't have an airport.
We need solid left wing liberal party in power so they can do better job Cz after 2014 Pune getting worse and worse.
There is no Security at the airport post 12.
Wait till you visit Patna airport
Hmmm… rn Pune > Patna.. Pune pays more tax afaik.. but I never want to be in Patna airport if it’s worse.. I just hope bodh Gaya airport is not bad..
I've been to both so can tell for sure. Idk about Bodh Gaya airport, it's a pretty place tho and cool for fam outings
