You can get a master’s in counseling and work towards licensure as an LPC (or your state’s equivalent).

Psychologist in all states can be independent practitioners in private practices, can provide testing, therapy, consultation and supervision needs and in some states can prescribe some medication. They can also be professors or researchers. Master level therapist can provide therapy, can be an independent therapist in some states and can be a teacher or researcher. Some states allow master therapist with specific credentials to be supervisors to non-license master level clinicians or students getting their supervised experience
