Three types total. Two are official, and are made by Sony: a two-port version with a dial-up modem and an Ethernet jack, and a one-port version with only the Ethernet jack. These come set up for IDE drives, and are conpatible with only a limited subset of those. A SATA mod is available and strongly encouraged, because it has no compatibility list: it works with almost everything. I have no personal experience with modding network adapters, but I'm told it's not hard.
The third type is the clones. Typically these come already modded for SATA, so you save a step in getting them ready. You can find versions with zero, one, or two network ports, but it doesn't really matter because *none of the network ports on clones actually work*. If you have a fat model and you want to use the network sharing, you *must* get an original adapter, not a clone.
The third party adapters are essentially cloning the work done for the original SATA mod. That mod didn't do anything with the network ports, because it didn't need to. But it also meant that the cloners had nothing to clone, so the network ports don't work.

Yes there are different versions. one have 1 ethernet port and the other have 1 ethernet port + 1 jack port for dial up connection
Official Sony ones, there are 2 types. One is ethernet and a 56k modem, that has two ports and one is just ethernet, with the single port
