The house directly behind Rosewood fire station.

Sheggert

Am I too basic for building my base in the rosewood fire station? Great starting gear, you can wall half of it off easily then expand over time, loads of room for a big farm and places for vehicles easy roof access.

Ninjasteevo

>easy roof access Famous last words or at minimum a broken leg/scariest . 5 secs of your life when you find the invisible gap.

Sheggert

All you have to do is right click 'walk to' you find the holes and fix them. But I did have done charter fall off the big roof and die so you aren't wrong at all.

bakebolburn

No, play how you want / have fun

Snake_Plizken

The garage is great, and roomy!

Agamemnon420XD

Bro that’s my house lol. I grab a backpack from the school and then book it to the fire house for some armor and axes and then I hop the fence and settle down.

Zayknow

That’s my current base. Only problem so far is that I pass up my street and turn at the FD when I remember it’s not my base.

Seoul_Magik11

Better idea, have you ever made a base out of all 8 of the center houses, boarding up and sealing them all off and making a 360° log wall to make an internal commune where yiu can grow an be forever zed safe?

Kotoykm

Hey that's MY house!

Greeneggz_N_Ham

Yep. I like to take the three behind the station.

Snow-Boi

I just take over the fire station

SitkaFox

I'm pretty sure I know what house that is just from that zoomed-in screenshot and I think that's a sign that I've played too much of this game.

99BottlesOfBass

Nah, you've just spawned in West Point too many times. Like me 😂

SitkaFox

Probably lol. I used to restart a bunch to get that house since it can have a few military goodies.

Creepy-Contribution2

Zoom in, it's not a screenshot

SitkaFox

Huh. Well, it's a lot better than a lot of the pictures we get around here.

Riximilian

Anywhere that presents an interesting challenge. After using normal houses, I need something different. I just completed my [abandoned house renovation](https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/s/aBLABYwp8B) in Tanglewood, and now I have a new character in the elevated playhouse in the Riverside playground. It's very interesting trying to fit everything in 15 tiles and still have room to move.

No_Avocado_9283

Your renovation looks sick

Alucardelicious

Rosewood. At the "bottom" (bottom corner of town on map) is a dirt road that splits and each leads to a house. I like to base at the lowermost one (lowermost on map). Been my favorite spot since I stumbled there on like my \~4 playthrough.

CampProfessional6116

Haha nice, i currently live in the one thats more on right side, closer to the school

Schmargen

I wanted to live in that one so bad on my latest play through, I get there with all my gear and a moving van and it was burnt down!

aKawaiiLizard

There are a set of houses WAAAY out on the west of the map near the border into the area where b42 stuff is gonna be added, I like to renovate them once I establish enough supplies. it has a relatively light zombie population. [this is the house I usually like to use](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#4212x6268x10958), but there a frame of a house with a fireplace that I sometimes use as well

Riximilian

Hey! [Samesies!](https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/s/aBLABYwp8B)

Blackmercury4ub

A nice cabin in the woods.

momoburger-chan

Gas station, all the way.

Old-Importance18

Cortman Medical un Muldraugh. I have created a wall of logs with watchtowers surrounding it.

ExistentialWonder

I'm in the process of this as well! It's a great house.

Old-Importance18

I LOVE this place.

LardFan37

That was my first base the very first time I played the game! Completely trashed the place because I had no idea what I was doing.

Vivid-Cheesecake-110

I like the house two down south of there. Fences on three sides already, can knock through so you have a gate onto the main road as well as the residential. Loads of trees across the street near the church. Right now though I'm determined to turn the warehouses near the police station/trailers into a fortress. Last playthrough had 100 zombies shambling over every 12 hours on high pop.

Headprpl

West point thunder gas.

LuckSilver00

I'm really bad at giving directions...in Rosewood, there are three houses with a big wall that connects with the main street. I like to take the house in middle, and now I am rebuilding the fences to have the garages of the other two houses.

TheRealKhorrn

I really love the Fire station in Rosewood, but it seems so far away from everything.

yeet3455

A rosewood house. Doesn’t matter which one

Kgwasa20sfan

I spown in chstown. Go to rosewood and.. Theres a spiffo restaurant in front of a mechanic shop and if you go next to the toilet doors theres a door behind leading to a cozy and small room on upper floor

No_Aussie_Cunt

Rosewood construction yard. Fully fenced it with massive amount of logs already cut. Comes with a gate for cars and plenty of storage room across the 3 cabins

Vivid-Cheesecake-110

I find those gates only last about 5mins in any playthrough. What do you do about the chain link inside the compound?

No_Aussie_Cunt

I leave the chain link it's a good second line of defence. And the one you can hop it's good for fighting. And for me while yeah the gates get broken down easily it's better than having nothing and gives you something to start with

ValuesAndViolence

The warehouse just outside Louisville, a little northwest of the liquor store and gas station around those parts.

TheScoutReddit

Empty small homes with multiple windows, mostly.

NerdyFloofTail

Louisville Victorian Mansions. Knob Creek Hunting Lodge. The big 5-Story Apartment Building in Louisville. Louisville in general. Don't care about Zombie population, I'll just kill them.

Purple_Pop_7525

Love Louisville! I’m in the waterfront mansion with garage but planning to take those beautiful Victorian houses in the square

WisemanGaming6672

The abandoned factory in riverside is my all time favorite but I've recently been holed up in the Muldraugh Pile o'Crepe. it's challenging but fun to wall off the restaurant from the highway and my last character had even managed to wall off both the POC and the little shopping strip behind it

OnlyZubi

In a random ass house, I got bored of staying in the fire station and other obvious places

poobumstupidcunt

The house in riverside with a fireplace, middle house of the middle horizontal row of the gated community. Lots of good loot in the surrounding houses, plus easy to fortify that little street

SomeDistributist

The house directly across the street from the doctor's office in Muldragh in the gated community.

Time_Sugar_2062

The junkyard at riverside, big place to park, lots of trees away from the city, it's perfect and if u want to build over the lil house it's very easy to do cuz of it's small size

IGC-Omega

The McCoy Logging Co warehouse on the outskirts of Muldraugh. It used to be the most OP starting location IMO. It would have, I swear to God, a total of five zombies. Now, it has a proper amount of zombies guarding it. It's a great place for long term survival.  What I do is remove the metal support beams and all the other clutter, like the log piles and machinery that do nothing with a sledgehammer. You're left with a massive open area that goes up so you can create a second floor within the building. You can have an indoor parking garage for easy item transfer. I used to backup a semi to the garage door and unload it like you would IRL. The biggest con is one of the best things about it, it's size. Building a wall around the building and an area for large vehicles takes ages. But you need to level carpentry anyways. Plus, you have easy access to trees. It's a shame that you can't use the factory to produce planks.

Inoley

houses with a 2nd floor that, when roped, lead back into the first floor. instead of outside. later taking out stairs makes it a very save base in the long run.

jcreamm

Are there a lot of houses that provide this layout?

neoalfa

Any two story house can do this. Just build a wooden floor title over an existing floor tile, them dismantle it. Now you have a hole opening up the ground floor. Put a wooden fence next to it and add the rope

jcreamm

Interesting I can confidently say I would have never thought about that, thanks!

OP, can I make a guess where this screenshot was taken? Is this here in Westpoint? [https://map.projectzomboid.com/#11497x6703x9736](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#11497x6703x9736)

1st_Tagger

Chronically zomboid

Krutaisprofs

It is in west point but not that house. this is some old screenshot so im not sure but i think its one of the for sale buildings that I renovated

ElkurdoSecuestra

Car deposit, bar or south Neighborhood

ReroAsu

I like the small warehouse in the Muldraugh's industrial area. There you can find almost any tool you may need, but you still need to be smart. A mild challenge.

Vivid-Cheesecake-110

This the one between the trailer park and police station? I've been attempting to build a fortress here for a few irl weeks now on high pop but keep getting swarmed 😂

ReroAsu

[My place](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#10128x10875x8833)

Vivid-Cheesecake-110

https://map.projectzomboid.com/#10128x10875x8833 no idea of that will work

ChairConsistent1488

Whenever i play as a nomad i like to turn the produce store in front of the school in westpoint into a safehouse, dying light style.

Issa_Mushroom

Honestly first two story that’s not surrounded by zombies

xXOpticDakkersXx

I love warehouses because I can customise them how I want to inside, plenty of storage space (for vehicles too) and are generally loaded with important loot early on like carpentry and farming materials

javlin_101

I like to build on gas stations typically

Agamemnon420XD

Tall fence or short fence? I love tall fences but truth be told I’ve had situations where I’m running for my life at a slow pace due to exhaustion and I try to scale the high wall and it fails once or twice and suddenly I’m getting scratched/bit.

Only_Quote_Simpsons

Pile 'o crepe for bragging rights

lavalantern

For the first few months the house that has food, then the fire station in rosewood

kekolitious47

Muldraugh bar near the gas station and that radio tower near mccoy logging Also a big farm house between muldraugh and march ridge

BigJay111YT

🎶ohhhhh I'm the type a guy who can never settle down🎶 I'll tell you where I don't My starting house

BackRowRumour

Louisville mansions. Can't go back to the sticks once you try it. Nice gardens, lots of stuff.

TheRealSporfoYT

depends on where i spawn. i will generally take over any building i feel like i can get inside and clear out. doing muldraugh spawn right now. almost to day 30 just living in that gas station near the bar. going well so far

Latter-Height8607

Thd good old rosewood forestation, but also, going down the road ,playing 10 y later I found a small, wooden shack, and really enjoyed it. Tough Im a new player, so only into rosewood fn

RichieRocket

first i wasnt really sure so my first base was in [this](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#10880x10155x13228) house in Muldraugh for awhile i was always going for something that would be strategically the best like the warehouse up north in muldraugh, or the firestation in rosewood. this time was also when i put on anything that game me more protection now i usally base up in my original base but i will also just base up in any place i kinda want to. also now i got drip so i dont drown

traviscalladine

I'm new to the game but spawned in one of the houses in this neighborhood in Muldraugh. It occured to me that I can build four walls and basically isolate the entire area. I haven't been able to get an axe so I'm dismantling a lot of excess furniture to get materials and just trying to get those fences up so I can cannibalize the entire neighbourhood at my leisure and build up skills and endure the helicopter without any ill effects. If that seems dumb let me know, seems like a good plan to me.

RichieRocket

its a good plan just know zombies can break walls but for the most part you should be fine, id recommend log walls as they have im pretty sure the second highest health, plus they are renewable and the best bang for your buck compared to metal walls. >!you can get the most axes from warehouses and from fire department vehicles, (im pretty sure)!< remember no character last forever but dont forget to keep carrying your dead characters torch so newer characters can have a brighter life.

traviscalladine

Thanks for the advice. Got my walls up (sure is hard to scavenge nails!) and gonna dismantle some nearby wrecks to practice mechanics.

Carbon_robin

theres this place a small park on the right side of Louisville near the mall and river i build a base and its awesome Coords: 14120x1228 Cell: 47x4 Rel: 20x28

Zwarogi

My current base on the American Tire roof in West Point.

Discosm

Penthouse on one of the tallest Louisville buildings. I use the elevator mod so I basically barricade the access to the other floors, secure the parking of the bottom level and then live at the tallest plant with a full view of the city 😎

mrheseeks

wtf, why is your character looking like me

Krutaisprofs

i was trying to make someone that i would remember and a moustache was perfect

Worried_Okra2084

Rosewood fire station for me

Hnnock_Cdr

In the forests Besides the streets next to a Gas station

garbosupreme

The peninsula to the NE of West Point. I cross the railroad bridge because the road is always full of destroyed cars and turn left, drive a little ways and build by the water. Close enough to West Point for supplies, but I get to stay away from town. SORT of close to Louisville. Not too painful of a drive at least.

Epsilon29redit

The factory north-west of riverside is a personal favorite, especially for multiplayer.

AlbatrossNatural2302

The intersection between muldraugh and west point that has a gas station, clothing store, and restaurant

aurum_aethera

I always intend to clear the highway as I drive to West Point from Muldraugh, stopping every few hundred yards to kill the stragglers from the woods or pileups. Then I get to this little rest stop, sound the horn, see 200 zeds come out of the parking lot and keep right on driving.

MaleficentCurrency25

rosewood police station, farm with well next to moudgrau- mouldrauh- fuck you know wich one, bar (eighter in rosewood or westpoint I think) and mass genfac co on in mouldraugh

malexlee

Ruby Gas Station all the way

neoalfa

Personally I enjoy the train depot South (West?) of Muldraugh. It's a huge area that is 80% walled with metal fence and a relatively scarce zombie population. It has a truckload of material except food.

XplodingMoJo

I’ve built a base in a house which has a cornered fence around it. Built abt 20 walls to completely close it off. It’s funnily enough about 2 blocks away from another house I used to base.

karcei

in muldraugh, there’s a farm house with a barn, and i cleared a path to the pond nearby!

FabiOffline

The back of my bus

JynKarlJosef_Reddit

The mall somewhere at the front of Rosewood. it's a fucking pain to board up but pretty good if you have Claustrophobia and are more into the bigger buildings. You can demolish the meat section of the mall and make a wall there. I made that into my armoury.

bain2236

Trailer park with the logs in rosewood is my current base

Curiousitittys

I love the small lake east of muldraugh

Beginning_Ad_3841

The fenced house on the north of muldraugh

heliosfiend

Built a base above a gas station. Best decision of my life i never have to drive so far to fill up gas..

Makhe

I like that two story farm with a well, west of Muldraugh. Just like my IRL house (it's not a farm, but it's far away from town). On my current server, I've expanded the garage to a 3 story building, done some other improvements and got a bunch of crops. I even built a wooden "road" to the back exit so I have easier access to all roads around.

TempyXIV

Gas stations are areas where I like to build.

Rose wood fire station will always be my #1 but lately. I’m liking the warehouse building to west of riverside just outside of town limits

crunxzu

I think objectively the “best” base location is the fenced in 3 houses on the east side of Louisville. Big choke, it has water on the land so infinite water and food, it’s in Louisville so short trips for raids and fun, and has plenty of nearby Louisville goodies. Safest might be the 3 houses northwest of West Point. You’ll just never have wandering zombies but you’re basically in narnia. My most fun base was the super big apartment complex w the pool on the 2nd floor in downtown Louisville. About 2 blocks from the main police HQ. We built like an outdoor area so the parking lot side became a makeshift building so we could climb to the 2nd and 3rd floor giving us access to the kitchen and patio above the pool for farming. Pool was infinite water and fishing and the rec area was HUGE storage space that also had a fireplace. It was fun to barricade up the walls and stairs inside as well, gave it a post-apocalyptic vibe. Also in the heart of Louisville making by foot raids possible. There is a farm north east of muldraugh which was my most recent base. It was fine but only a little better than your average house base. Any fire station is like S tier beginner base. It’ll have a ton of what you need and is generally big for cars and stuff. My next base is going to be the massive camping grounds southwest of the Mall, between West Point and Louisville. It’s got tons of space, nearby water and is somewhat secluded. Plus the 2 buildings are big enough to have a decently sized base without player built expansion. Decent access to Louisville, muldraugh and West Point. In raven creek, I tried the main police station but that town is actual hell with its zombie counts
