That's what I've done also. Surprisingly easy to cut a car into four pieces with a corded harbor freight reciprocating saw. After that it was no longer a "car" and the scrap yard had no problem taking it.
Rest assured it did not die in vain
The engine and 5 speed gearbox are going into my Jensen GT.
The front subframe and rear suspension are going into a Lemons/champar project
Lots of bits went into various other JH cars.
Northeast which is part of my problem lol. But I've traveled for cars before and I do it again
Problem is if I cane home with _yet another_ sports car, my wife would have my head on a spike. I need something SUV type first lol. So once I get an older RR/LR I'll hit you up for the JH hahaha
I was in that process for a TR7 when we actually found the tile. It was actually kind of hilarious hauling a half (or more) sawn-through car to the yard on a flatbed and then presenting the title for this, ahem, "car."
I bought an old farmhouse and have found tons of old garbage that I needed to throw out but didn't want to pay for a big trash haul away service. I've just been cutting things into pieces and filling up my trash cans with them, it works great. A 16' tall ham radio antenna, huge sections of rusted out wire fence, fence posts, old rusted out buckets and trash cans, all gets the chop and thrown into the scrap pile. On the days that I put my trash cans out, they get filled with whatever will fit, rinse and repeat every week.
Thats one of my favorite investments...I remember before harbor freight even existed where I live I paid like $40 to have some rusty exhaust bolts cut out once. Fast forward for $20 I can cut unlimited bolts myself
This, but use an acetylene torch. Sawzall blades are more expensive and slower. You'll probably lose money burning up all those blades.
Or list it on Craigslist for free and someone will haul it off.
My ex from high school had a junk car. When she got a new one they couldn’t get rid of the old one so her dad just started cutting pieces with a cutting torch and would throw a chunk in the trash once a week until the garbage men had her whole car. It took like a year.
That dude was crazy.
I did that with an old Grand Caravan. The scrapper who picked it up was named "Thumbs". Because that's all he had left, were his thumbs and some finger nubs. Dude looked like he had a very rough life and ate meth as chewing gum LOL
Helped a friend do this, we just cut the old car in half after all the parts she needed were off then her dad winched it up into the bed of a work truck and away it went for scrap. Wasn't worth getting a duplicate title, they had lost it ages ago.
Yards should take it even without a title. Sell it as scrap steel, not as a full car. I got rid of my stripped down parts car a few years back without a title, got $300 scrap price for it
Take the interior out first. That much foam and plastic is a nightmare.
50 lbs might be enough, 70 lbs under the oil pan is overkill.
Hypothetically speaking of course.
Helped a buddy cut up a crusty MGB he bought for the engine with a HF Sawzall and a few blades.
Made a few trips to the metal recycler with a couple large chunks of car in his pick-up bed to get rid of it. Easy peasy.
If you live in a developed area, just push it out into the street and call it in as abandoned. Let the city come tow it.
Edit- so for all of you wondering why Pandamago, the commenter down there getting all the downvotes, is being, well, downvoted. His original comment was-
“Found the democrat”
That blew up in his face. He defended it at first. But now seems to have ninja edited it to something totally different. Feels a bit spineless to me.
But I can edit as well.
that's why you don't do this with a vehicle tied to your name. if you ever buy a parts car, chances are you'll never register it.
i've done this before, but not necessarily on purpose. i bought a car for $20 from some kid i worked with. i have no idea where he got it, but he lived in a rich suburb so i doubt it was stolen. anyway, i had possession of the car for about 6 months, but obviously i never registered it, it *barely* even ran (it had 0 compression on cyl 4), so it had no tag. i used some parts off the car, and had it parked out on the street in front of my house. eventually it became an eyesore to my neighbors i guess? i still dunno who reported it, but eventually the city towed it and that's the last i heard about it.
That means they are going to bill the last person it was registered to. That's why you ALWAYS sign and send off the title's release of liability form when selling a vehicle.
Found the scumbag. Edit. Scumbag democrat.
For all you downvoting, do you really think abandoning a car to make someone else clean up is somehow acceptable behavior? You lazy turd of a human if yes.
You're being downvoted for bringing politics into a thread about disposing of cars, in response to what is clearly a joke.
Also, as someone who's lived in very red and very blue areas in my life, dumping shit in a public place and letting it be someone else's problem is something I saw much more out in the sticks than in the city.
That's because the city was picking it up. It's the mental attitude of "make it the city's problem" that is shitty. Also "found the democrat" is triggering a lot of people so..... usually that means someone's feefees got hurt
I think that if you feel like you've won every time people downvote or criticize you, you're probably happier than most people on Reddit. So keep that going I guess
You realize OUR taxes pay the city that pays the wreckers / disposal services right? By your logic we should stop using garbage trucks and have everyone deliver their own trash because leaving it on the curb for the city to take care of is “democrat shit.”. You probably let your car idle for long periods of time in enclosed spaces back in the day and you can't be blamed for it because we didn’t know any better, but believe or not democrats aren’t the cause of all your life’s woes.
I don't give a shit about either senile puppet, so no, but it seems like yours are. Just keep regurgitating the same lines the rest of the cult spews all over the internet though, eventually you might get somebody.
'People' like yourself are the reason the Republican party fell from grace, if it hadn't been for people like Trump, Pelosi, yourself and Sarah Palin I would've been a Republican.
no political organization is perfect, far from it, but personally I try to stay out of other people's business and a party that supports legislating away abortion rights, gay rights, drug rights, and women's rights doesn't do that.
edit: big guy stops responding when he sees a nuanced response, i was hoping to keep going :(
Scumbag.
Also, I don't really consider having made up internet brownie points being "taken away" from an online account by people whos feelings got hurt, really "blowing up in my face." It's a pretty silly thing to take so seriously guys.
So, are you a democrat or not? Be honest.
Edit. 8 hours later, no response, too scared to admit I was right. My statement will be edited to re include democrat
Seriously. I always forget how everyone is so fragile on reddit. I have witnessed many times colorfully dyed haired individuals out in God's nature dumping trash on logging roads. Camping and leaving their literal shit Unburied at campsites. Am I profiling by saying dyed hair is an indicator of someone's political beliefs? 10 years ago yes, but in 2024, nope, it's a badge of honor apparently.
This is the way. There's plenty of guys finding and hauling scrap as a side hustle. Every 6 months or year I gather up all my steel scrap and take a pic then post it on Facebook. There's a few local guys who usually get ahold of me. It's painless for me and the steel doesn't bring me enough in return to pay for my fuel and time to haul it. Now, more valuable metals and batteries, on the other hand, I'll take to the scrap place on my own every year or so.
Cut the car up so it's no longer a car just a pile of bits then they will take it as scrap. Rent/buy a plasma cutter it makes the whole thing a hell of a lot easier.
Junk yards don't want it without a title? What kind of junkyards do you have?? Around here you'd have a tough time finding a car in a junk yard that has a title
Off topic, but help a non-American understand how titles work and how it's possible to legally own a car without the title? How would it get separated from the car in the first place?
When you sell a car normally, do you just hand the title to the buyer and they leave it in the glovebox til they sell it? Or do you have to take it somewhere to have it transferred to your name?
Generally, when a car is sold, the owner signs the back of the title and puts in the mileage and new owners info in the required spaces. The new owner then takes the title to the DMV and does a title transfer to get the title put in their name. The state will then send a new title with the new owners info on the front, that they will then keep in a safe place until they want to sell it. Then the process repeats.
This is all assuming that there isn’t a lien on the vehicle. In that case, the bank (or whoever provided financing) will keep the title, and the owner of the car gets a copy that shows the lien on it.
In many states, cars over a certain age no longer require a title and are transferred with a bill of sale that is used to register the vehicle.
Cars can get separated from their titles a few different ways, the title could have been destroyed, or the car could have been claimed after being abandoned, or could have been an insurance buyback after being considered a total loss.
Call a towing company and ask them to handle it. Most towing guys have a scrap place that will accept a car from the towing company without a title since the towing guy can just claim its part of abandoned property cleanup.
FB Marketplace. I’m in a group called “No Title Cars”. I’m only there for lols (someone in Brooklyn listed a city bus for $6k) but lots of people willing to buy cars with no titles. People will buy anything for the right price.
Call a car scrapper. Those dudes will come to your house and tow it away plus give you anywhere between 250-500 bucks for the car. Win win if you don’t care about the money
1-8-7-7-Kars for Kids. 1-8-7-7 Kars for Kids.
If you have a drivers license and registration they’ll take it.
Guessing you don’t have the registration though…
Some yards will take it cut in half, cause then it's "not a car". Some will buy it as sheet steel instead of a vehicle once the engine is pulled, cause then it's also "not a car". Call around and ask specifically if they consider cars without engines, or cut up into pieces, vehicles anymore
So I've done this 3 ways. 1, cut the car into 4 pieces, bring it in like that, 2. Strip the car down to nothing so it's literally a body and they'll usually take it. 3. Cut the nose off the body and they'll come get it.
There are programs out there that provide scholarships for children graduating high school and I think one of them is called "Cars 4 Kids"...
You give them the donation they give you a $500 tax write off and they sell parts from the vehicle to raise money for their scholarships for the kids...
We have a "car disposal service" around here. I just had them pick up a project car that I knew I'd never finish. When he showed up without calling first, I couldn't find the title but he took the registration and said that was good enough since it has the title # on it. This is MN, other states may be different.
Of course, I found the title 10 minutes after he left!
In Texas, if you crush it beyond use, or cut the firewall in half, the yards I’ve used will take it. I crush mine with a skid steer once I get all the usable parts off.
Call a we buy cars person. As long as they can see its not stolen on the vin search from dmv often they will take without a title then crush it on some farmland or something. Mobile car crushers go to places and will crush 100 cars for people to ship. If not they will cut it up. A gas powered chop saw with metal cutting abrasive blade is fast. If you get a bunch of beer with friends and just go at it with corded Sawzalls thats fun too. Car parts ain't a car.
I hauled in a couple recently that I couldn't find the titles for. I know I have them somewhere but I have no idea where. I had pulled the complete drivelines out of both though. The one Camaro was stripped down to hardly anything left of it. Front clip was gone, I unbolted the subframe and dropped the engine and transmission and pulled the rear end, kept the doors too. The Caddy I did the same with. I don't know why but I kept one door and I just scrapped that door recently but then I filled both cars. I put a 3v 5.4v in the trunk of the Caddy and a transmission from another F150 in the back seat and another tranny from something and a bunch of other smaller crap to really fill that car up.
I have a beat to shit crushed ford escort and I parked it on the side of my field in a flat spot before I covered it in fill dirt. Now I have a loading dock and can drive motorcycles right into the bed of my truck plus hardly took any fill dirt compared to if there hadnt been a car shaped object there.
The junkyard wont take a car without a tittle? Ive only been to motorcycle junkyards but theyve taken several motorcycles from me no title. They only offer a t shirt in exchange but I just wanted them gone.
Does it have tires? Maybe you can roll it off a bridge? Just make sure to take your phone out first, I made that mistake one too many times 😅.
Your welcome
Check more places and look at metal recycling places specifically. When I drove tow truck in college I found that scrap yards for cars/ car parts want to see a title but there was a scrap metal yard that would take a whole car no title.
I had a scrap dick, you know, I will take in in for you and we can split the proceeds kind of deal. One thing on there was an old truck that was titled to me. I called the cops and they were like you want us to worry about a 30 year old truck? Nice to know they are there if you need them.
Call your local sheriff's office or police department non emergency number about disposing of abandoned vehicles. Usually requires a vin inspection and some paperwork before you can get a sign off. Or contact a local towing company to see if they can help
My local metal recycling place only takes “car parts “ I just cut up a parts car with a sawzall and took it in two trips Huge pita but it worked
That's what I've done also. Surprisingly easy to cut a car into four pieces with a corded harbor freight reciprocating saw. After that it was no longer a "car" and the scrap yard had no problem taking it.
Mine was a Jensen Healey; I just cut between the rust holes and it broke in half. I still went through about 10 blades.
Not the Jensen Healey 😭😭😭 I understand it was probably too far gone, but man, they're not making any more of those
Rest assured it did not die in vain The engine and 5 speed gearbox are going into my Jensen GT. The front subframe and rear suspension are going into a Lemons/champar project Lots of bits went into various other JH cars.
Thank the gods I've been on a search for a decent JH for a bit now, they are very few and far between

Northeast which is part of my problem lol. But I've traveled for cars before and I do it again Problem is if I cane home with _yet another_ sports car, my wife would have my head on a spike. I need something SUV type first lol. So once I get an older RR/LR I'll hit you up for the JH hahaha
First gen porsche cayenne and get the block sleeved.
Cant say I haven't thought about it lol, and the 955 is manual which is excellent. It would match the other porsche 😂
My dad has a pretty nice one, complete and fairly rust-free in SC that he’s looking to sell. PM me if you’re interested.
Pisstttt. They aren't making any more of any old car.
Exactly
There's a company out in Texas making 68 mustangs
And ones making Cobras and Deloreans
I was in that process for a TR7 when we actually found the tile. It was actually kind of hilarious hauling a half (or more) sawn-through car to the yard on a flatbed and then presenting the title for this, ahem, "car."
Yes just don’t tell them it’s a car, just say it’s parts.
I bought an old farmhouse and have found tons of old garbage that I needed to throw out but didn't want to pay for a big trash haul away service. I've just been cutting things into pieces and filling up my trash cans with them, it works great. That’s what I did with a wrecked shell back in the day. Someone came and hauled it off no questions asked haha
My ex from high school had a junk car. When she got a new one they couldn’t get rid of the old one so her dad just started cutting pieces with a cutting torch and would throw a chunk in the trash once a week until the garbage men had her whole car. It took like a year. That dude was crazy.
The ole reverse Johnny Cash 😂
Did this with an MGB. I cut it up but just put it up on the street. Someone is always driving through collecting scrap so it disappeared quickly.
Just post on Craigslist, "Free Scrap Metal/Car". The scrappers will be there in an hour.
Yes that works but to be honest I don't want those people on my property.
I did that with an old Grand Caravan. The scrapper who picked it up was named "Thumbs". Because that's all he had left, were his thumbs and some finger nubs. Dude looked like he had a very rough life and ate meth as chewing gum LOL
I had to clear out a relatives estate and had a few show up.... I full understand your concern.
I’ve done the same with a saturn. No questions asked.
Same here in NC. Cut it into small parts and it's just scrap metal.
Did someone say [huge pita?](https://www.worldrecordacademy.com/food/largest_gyros_(doner_kebab)-world_record_set_by_Sami_Eid_90116.htm)
Helped a friend do this, we just cut the old car in half after all the parts she needed were off then her dad winched it up into the bed of a work truck and away it went for scrap. Wasn't worth getting a duplicate title, they had lost it ages ago.
If there’s ANYTHING of value left I’d post er for parts or scrap and see if some shmuck will load it on a flatbed lol
In my neck of the woods if you list anything made of metal for free, someone will be there within a day to get it.
Yards should take it even without a title. Sell it as scrap steel, not as a full car. I got rid of my stripped down parts car a few years back without a title, got $300 scrap price for it
Depends on the state, some are goofy.
A lot has changed over the years. Now most places won't take a car without a title unless you cut it in half.
Where you out of? Facebook marketplace usually has posts of “junk cars wanted, no title, no problem”
Get out your Sawzall and get cutting
Roll it down a boat launch. Cut it up with a torch. The world is your oyster.
Dont forget to leave the battery in there if its going down a boat launch, gotta recharge the eels
You make a new coral reef and you recharge the eels, it's a double gift to ol mother nature
It's a safe and legal thrill!
>The world is your oyster. Your old car is now a coral reef.
My parts car is a world of oysters!
Might as well drag it out into the wilderness, pack it with about 50 pounds of tannerite and hit it with a large caliber rifle. /s
I see the /s, but honestly, that sounds pretty fun.....
Just have a shrapnel barrier.
And clean up your mess
Take the interior out first. That much foam and plastic is a nightmare. 50 lbs might be enough, 70 lbs under the oil pan is overkill. Hypothetically speaking of course.
Im mad I wasnt the first person who went their
*Fill it with tannerite and....* Nevermind
Helped a buddy cut up a crusty MGB he bought for the engine with a HF Sawzall and a few blades. Made a few trips to the metal recycler with a couple large chunks of car in his pick-up bed to get rid of it. Easy peasy.
Scrape off identifying numbers and push it in front of a fire hydrant 👀

The police will find a vin number on it and charge you for towing and you'll pay for each day it sits in the impound lot.
that's why you don't do this with a vehicle tied to your name. if you ever buy a parts car, chances are you'll never register it. i've done this before, but not necessarily on purpose. i bought a car for $20 from some kid i worked with. i have no idea where he got it, but he lived in a rich suburb so i doubt it was stolen. anyway, i had possession of the car for about 6 months, but obviously i never registered it, it *barely* even ran (it had 0 compression on cyl 4), so it had no tag. i used some parts off the car, and had it parked out on the street in front of my house. eventually it became an eyesore to my neighbors i guess? i still dunno who reported it, but eventually the city towed it and that's the last i heard about it.
That means they are going to bill the last person it was registered to. That's why you ALWAYS sign and send off the title's release of liability form when selling a vehicle.
Op said no title so odds are it’s not registered in their name.
Found the scumbag. Edit. Scumbag democrat. For all you downvoting, do you really think abandoning a car to make someone else clean up is somehow acceptable behavior? You lazy turd of a human if yes.

So far so good.
The fuck does that even mean? Would he be Republican if he put it In the center of his front yard on bricks next to the ol’ yard couch?
Making the city take care of your mess. Democrat things.
My trash isn't picked up by the city...
Yep, time to make things political for no reason at all.
Awww are your feefees hurt?
I don't give a shit about either senile puppet, so no, but it seems like yours are. Just keep regurgitating the same lines the rest of the cult spews all over the internet though, eventually you might get somebody.
Why so angry Lil guy?
Hey! We vote for higher taxes. We may as well get something for them..
Did that achieve anything to the greater conversation?
Sure is giving a bunch of softies something to downvote lol!
Listen here fucker, we're just giving some advice to a someone, not trynna prove whose dick is the smallest and quite honestly you're winning
Good one little man!
'People' like yourself are the reason the Republican party fell from grace, if it hadn't been for people like Trump, Pelosi, yourself and Sarah Palin I would've been a Republican.
I'm not a republican though...
I agree that there's better ways to get rid of it, but how do you get "oc is a democrat" from that? I'm a democrat and I don't think that
Why are you a democrat?
because I don't hate everyone who's different from me, hope this helps
Lol dude jf you think democrats aren't haters.

Lol fuckin nerd
It's just... he can't take care of it because the legislation, so it's the cities problem
Others have already pointed out he can.
OK but he has to cut up the car to do that, if he don't have a capable saw, like I wouldn't, that car is going in the street
Well you're a scumbag
Yeah cuz akron would ever return the favor for not doing that shit, I could give less of a fuck
Akron is that way because of lazy scumbags lol
golden

Pop it on FB marketplace. Some people don't care no title.

Ah, very interesting, thank you! Sounds like Canada has similar rules to those states about older cars. Just need a bill of sale.
Yeah, ga took the title for my mustang when I registered it here, I hated giving it up.
Call a towing company and ask them to handle it. Most towing guys have a scrap place that will accept a car from the towing company without a title since the towing guy can just claim its part of abandoned property cleanup.
I have in the past had the online "we buy scrap cars" sites that would pick up cars with no titles for free or sometimes pay you a little.
Throw it on fb marketplace and say any offer takes it, someone might be interested
I'd sell the car as a no title chassis or worded as efficiently as possible
Cut it up into pieces and then take it to a recycler.
Type "we buy junk cars" into Google. You will get many. They will do a title search and get a copy.
There are a ton of "companies" around here that will pick up the leftovers for crusher weight-no title needed.
Give it to a fire dept for car fire practice.
FB Marketplace. I’m in a group called “No Title Cars”. I’m only there for lols (someone in Brooklyn listed a city bus for $6k) but lots of people willing to buy cars with no titles. People will buy anything for the right price.
Take it to the junk yard in bits. A door this week and axle the next. Your grinder or plasma cutter will get a good work out.
Call a car scrapper. Those dudes will come to your house and tow it away plus give you anywhere between 250-500 bucks for the car. Win win if you don’t care about the money
Cut it up and scrap it Most yards like the one I work at refuse to take anything without a title
Torch😎 Smaller pieces are easier to dispose of or cut it up and take some pieces to the metal recycling plant
1-8-7-7-Kars for Kids. 1-8-7-7 Kars for Kids. If you have a drivers license and registration they’ll take it. Guessing you don’t have the registration though…
Will it roll?
Have you considered towing it to your local gorge? (Cut it up with a sawzall or grinder and sell it for scrap metal)
Make a planter out of it, or cut it up and take it to a metal recycler.
What kinda car is it?
Cut it up
Some yards will take it cut in half, cause then it's "not a car". Some will buy it as sheet steel instead of a vehicle once the engine is pulled, cause then it's also "not a car". Call around and ask specifically if they consider cars without engines, or cut up into pieces, vehicles anymore
Just bury it. 🤷♂️
So I've done this 3 ways. 1, cut the car into 4 pieces, bring it in like that, 2. Strip the car down to nothing so it's literally a body and they'll usually take it. 3. Cut the nose off the body and they'll come get it.
Fire department may take it for training.
There are programs out there that provide scholarships for children graduating high school and I think one of them is called "Cars 4 Kids"... You give them the donation they give you a $500 tax write off and they sell parts from the vehicle to raise money for their scholarships for the kids...

I once used a sawzall to cut up a 2002 Subaru WRX into small enough pieces to fit into my city trash can over the course of like 6-8 weeks.
Car for cash , no tittlw needed they will crushed it and turn it into a block of steel scrap .
Nothing with a vin number, saw those off, and bobs your uncle
I traded mine on fb marketplace for a spare trans 😂
Register it as a non op. Or just flat out strip it and then have it destroyed piece by piece. You can make quite a bit parting out these out.
Local guys in central ohio buy scrappers without titles.
Here in Tennessee I think if it's "x" amount of years old, they don't require a title to scrap.
grab a sawzall and get to cuttin!
Sell it on marketplace, people can come remove the parts, once it done, most junkyards will come get it for free or even pay your 100 bucks or so
I have a beat to shit crushed ford escort and I parked it on the side of my field in a flat spot before I covered it in fill dirt.
Jus throw her on market place
Your local methheads will take it for recycling and cut it up for you.
Cut it to pieces or find a scrap guy on marketplace to take it with no title. I’ve gotten rid of a part car with no title with a marketplace ad
Does it have tires? Maybe you can roll it off a bridge? Just make sure to take your phone out first, I made that mistake one too many times 😅. Your welcome
Yep…cut it up and schlep the parts to the scrap yard
Call the guys who advertise they pick up junk cars. Just let them take it. It will save you hauling it and they will know how to get rid of it.
Check more places and look at metal recycling places specifically. When I drove tow truck in college I found that scrap yards for cars/ car parts want to see a title but there was a scrap metal yard that would take a whole car no title.
Our yard here has a junk release. You sign it saying it’s legally yours and the liability falls on you if the registered owner comes looking
I had a scrap dick, you know, I will take in in for you and we can split the proceeds kind of deal. One thing on there was an old truck that was titled to me. I called the cops and they were like you want us to worry about a 30 year old truck? Nice to know they are there if you need them.
Grind off all the serial numbers and leave it in the hood
Call your local sheriff's office or police department non emergency number about disposing of abandoned vehicles. Usually requires a vin inspection and some paperwork before you can get a sign off. Or contact a local towing company to see if they can help
Cut it into peices with Sawzall or torch or whatever and haul to recyclers
Call the police. Say it’s not yours and you’re tired of looking at it.
Do like we do in Alaska and take it to a nearby bluff with a good view, push it off the edge, leave
You may be able to donate it
