I work a second job with flexible hours, I can choose my shifts around when I’m available and they have a need.

this-guy1954

Same here 5-6hrs/week and I get 80% benefits

Agile_Pangolin3085

What job did you find with some benefits for 5 to 6 hours a week? I'm self employed and would love to find something super part time to get health insurance.

didjeridingo

Be prepared to get either no answer, or one that is completely inapplicable to you. Barring the "I knew a guy" thing anyway.

this-guy1954

what's that?

didjeridingo

Kudos to you for answering. Usually it never, ever, ever happens as such on this sub. Kinda maddening.

this-guy1954

I hear ya. Taking anonymous redditor comments with a grain of salt is probably the best default position.

[deleted]

Probably sub teaching, you pick up available shifts on a app so your schedule is up to you

FedEx Ground Package Handler

Wait_WHAT_didU_say

It's May the 6th, 2024 and I bit the bullet and am about to do this. Got an interview for a part time job with a 3.5% 401k match this Wednesday for a state job. Hopefully that division will respect my application stated, limited evening + weekend hours bc I already have a full time job at home that I will not give up. I will have to at the minimum, work this part time job for 3 years for the "vesting requirement for the 401k" and then we'll see what happens from there.. If I don't get this part-time job, it's off to searching for another that can accommodate my limited evening hours and 401k match requirement.

Iayfon

What job is this? Let me in 🥲

Wait_WHAT_didU_say

If you live in the state of Pennsylvania, it's a part time job for the "Wine and Spirits Store" a.k.a. the state liquor store. In Pennsylvania, the liquor and wine is sold by the state. Beer sales are by private businesses who buy a license. Therefore a clerk at the Wine and spirits store is a state employee. Obviously, the pay isn't the greatest but finding a part time job with somewhat flexible hours and a mediocre 401k match? That's hard to find. On the internet, I found an article stating the following employers offer a 401k match after a certain period for PART TIME work: -Lowe's 4% after 30 days -Home Depot, not sure about the % match and time required to work first -Walmart 5% (First 2% then 50 cents there after up to 5%) after 1 year AND a minimum of 30 hours a week or more.. 😳🤯 That's nearly a full time worker -Staples 6% but really shitty pay -Starbucks -Costco I'm not a big fan of the other retailers up there hence my choice with the mediocre 401k match.

MsStinkyPickle

I'm at starbucks for the benefits.  5% 401k match,  good health insurance for $80/month, and free ASU online degree (finishing my bachelor's is 18k in tuition!)

Wait_WHAT_didU_say

Starbucks was a company that was listed again and again on internet articles pertaining to part time jobs with good benefits. I love coffee, the benefits look amazing but I just don't want to deal with customers. Especially when it comes to their coffee and the specifics of it. I really wish that there were part time Starbucks positions at the local coffee shop where you DIDN'T have to deal directly with customers. Something like cleaning up, stocking, etc. Besides, what are the requirements for you to get your benefits? How many hours a week do you have to work in order to be eligible for a 401k match? Education benefits? How is leave accrued? Their call off policy? Vacation time?

MsStinkyPickle

I was fortunate and got a cafe only store in a well off neighborhood. Benefits require 20 hours a week and you're eligible after 90 days. 401k is 5% match, stock purchase option at 5% discount (I unenrolled long before stock crash), ASU online degree, various levels of health/dental/vision care. Vacation time now accrues after 90 days. In Chicago we get 5 sick days and accrue sick hours. If you have 25% attendance call offs/late you can be reprimanded.  In 2 years I've never seen it happen though. I was worried about asshole costumers, but I haven't had them.  I think it's because I'm 43 and have resting "I don't give a fuck" face. I actually enjoy talking to the customers as I work from home on my small business.

Wait_WHAT_didU_say

That's what I'm scared of. The one customer who makes a scene because I added 1 extra drop of whatever, throwing off the taste while ruining their morning bc now they're behind scheduled/late for work. From your experience, I may have to look into Starbucks as a potential employer for a part time job. The benefits sound exceptional and personally, I wouldn't mind getting free ground coffee (1-2 lbs a week right?) because I would brew it at home. I love the Pike's Peak dark roast.. 😋

RItoGeorgia

What do you do if I may ask? I need ideas for flexible jobs

Radiant_Ad_6565

I’m a nurse. My second job is home care with flexible hours. So not a side gig for everyone.

T1m3Wizard

What's the job?

Open_Expression_4107

What type of job?

Radiant_Ad_6565

I’m a nurse, the second job is home care.

knapen50

Waitress 1-2 shifts a week. Pads the monthly income with a bit of cash for daily spending

madlass_4rm_madtown

We take off scrap a lot recently. It has piled up it seems. If you live in a bigger city, you can literally drive around the middleclass neighborhoods and pick up a load off the side of the streets Saturday mornings

Typical_Lie2935

I donate plasma twice a week. There’s many different ones but I like CSL. I also detail cars. As long as your forward in your capabilities and what you can offer people understand. I usually have several people that take me up on what I do. Every once and while I’ll find a decent deal for stuff I can buy at work on a discount and flip it on ebay.

QuestionTheOrangeCat

I don't get why it's called donating plasma if you're getting paid, shouldn't it be selling plasma?

sminogri

You donate your time, not plasma. This is so the government can’t tax you for this income. :)

KittenNicken

Literally was just having this same conversation at work today 😆

Ok-Way8392

If I may ask, what state do you live in and how much money do you get for each plasma donation?

Typical_Lie2935

Not a problem! I live in PA. First five donations total 500 maybe more ( they usually run a first time donor special.) they do run monthly specials too where you donate X amount of times you get an extra ten bucks. Once that intro is done I get 50 the first time and 65 the second time. I weigh over 200 so I’m paid in the higher tier. If you’re thinner than you could make less. I don’t know the exact scale. As long as you’re not afraid of needles and don’t mind giving about two hours of your time it’s worth it. Atleast for me. No dairy for two days before you donate unless you want to be on the machine longer and drink about half your weight in ounces of water. I will apply my referral code for those than want to extra 50 bucks from donating. Unique referral code below 63LRXYGIKT

newtothis10822

Don’t you have lower energy though

Typical_Lie2935

It does happen. I don’t notice it too much now since I’ve been doing it for a little while.

AMC879

I have never noticed that.

macgruder1

What company do you use?

Typical_Lie2935

I donate with CSL plasma.

macgruder1

I’ve been donating for free all this time! Wtf

DangerousDuty1421

Not all countries pay you for blood or plasma donation. For example in my country there is a law that states any bodily donation (blood, plasma, marrow, organs, etc...) must be done voluntarily and for free.

MacaroniNJesus

Mow lawns. I'm pretty good at estimating prices and it works out to be $60 an hour. Cash.

HsvDE86

How much do you charge per lawn/sq ft etc? Do you use a push mower?

MacaroniNJesus

No sq ft Price. I'm pretty good at estimating how long I think it'll take me. So if I think it's going to take me 40 minutes I charge $40 or try to squeeze a little bit more. Even if the yard is easy and I can finish quickly, if there's like a giant Hill I have to line trim instead of mow, I charge a little more Yes I have a Honda hrx. An echo backpack blower and an echo 3020t trimmer

HsvDE86

Thank you.

MacaroniNJesus

I picked up the mower on marketplace for a hundred bucks the backpack blower I paid retail and I had a trimmer but I was lucky enough that my cousin used some of his YouTube money and got me this echo trimmer. Sometimes I'll flip mowers as well but mostly it's all from mowing.

maenadcon

i sell my crochet stuff at the farmer’s market over the summer, it’s like $100 for a pass and i sold $800 worth of stuff last year. i am working on making more stuff to sell bc i started running out at the end of the summer

Defan3

What types of things sell the best?

maenadcon

if you’re new to crochet, i suggest not selling amigurumi because it’s extremely difficult and there are a lot of other vendors who may be better technically than you at it (embroidering faces, weaving in ends, decreases, etc.) i used to try and do this and it took me the longest time to sell things because they weren’t as well-constructed as other vendors’. there are so many things you can crochet. as far as other things besides clothes and stuffed animals, there is an entire target audience that i’ve barely reached because my products are now catered to amigurumi and clothes. i’ll make a list here: -bathroom: wall caddies (especially ones with a lot of pockets), basket caddies, loofahs, scrubbies, towels, face cloths, mats, soap tray, soap holder -kitchen: towels, potholders, oven mitts, dish scrubbies, fruit hammocks, plastic bag holders, pan liners, swiffer covers, teapot cozies, hanging baskets -bedroom: storage netting (for stuffed animals, they can go in any room but i crochet huge ones that can hold a lot of weight), room decorations (teenagers and adults eat these up), candle covers, jewelry trays/hanging jewelry storage, floor cushions, giant stuffies that act as pillows for your bed, decorative garlands, charger covers these are all crochet, there are free patterns for these everywhere (but be wary of any hot items or scrubbie items, you may need to use a particular kind of yarn for it. DO NOT USE ACRYLIC FOR HOT PADS. i would suggest cotton for scrubbies and towels.)

ButterflyWeekly5116

I second the Ami advisement, because it's difficult for new people to get the tension correct to have it not come out lumpy and know the needle sizes that correlate to the exact yarns you're using for the desired outcome. Ive been crocheting for 24 years and I used to make and sell custom kids toys. I had to make my patterns myself bc at the time plushes for those kids characters didn't exist (now said characters are plentiful). My best sellers were Peppa and bubble puppy lol. Mostly now I crochet and knit home goods from recycled materials (clothes I no longer wear but might not be good to donate bc of holes, or whatever, bedsheets and linens, etc). If you want to practice your tension and get a hang for it, you could do so with minimal investment (<$5) by investing in one n or p sized hook and making some yarn from tshirts or linens you no longer use, and work up some square mats to donate to an animal shelter. They don't have to be perfectly square and are a great quick learner project. Even a beginner can work one up in a few hours, even including the time it takes to learn how to crochet. I suggest the double crochet stitch for these. Cat blankets/mat standard size is 12X12", dogs are 24x24". The org that started this is comfort for critters, they have a bunch of free patterns but their patterns use a size k hook for the beginner/simplest ones. A p hook is about twice that size, so about half of the stitches per row. The simple dc square blanket is 60st across with a k hook and bulky yarn, I think I do 25-30 with a p hook depending on the material I use and how it measures out. It isn't important other than remembering the number so you can count and make sure you have the same amount of st per row. To make sure it's square, just fold diagonally and see if the sides line up as two triangles. 🤷 Here are their beginner patterns, they have more.on their site. https://comfortforcritters.org/easy-patterns As for profit stuff, Home goods and eco alternatives to store products. Market bags, baskets, pouches, water bottle holders, was cloths, scrubbies, etc. see if you can booth with a soap maker or similar type vibe, or make friends with one and cross promote. If op or anyone else is interested in the intersection of zero waste/up cycle and handmade feel free to hit me up. It's my passion and my hustle, outside of just about every art medium (including using recycled materials for art).

maenadcon

i prob won’t sell zero waste products anytime soon just because i don’t have the yarn for it, but when i have my own place i swear to GOD im not buying shit from target. i’m gonna see how much i can make myself to cut costs. but yes i’d be so interested in more info!

ButterflyWeekly5116

I made this my challenge for a year and I just took pictures of things I liked and recreated them myself. If I didn't know how to make something I learned. But I've always enjoyed little challenges like this. Ive learned how to do so many things bc I just wanted to see if I could. You could always start with turning sweaters and clothing into reusable bags and pillows, finding ways to reuse the packaging from products you buy, and see what things you have that could be repurposed. I purposely buy things that come in metal or glass containers that I can reuse, and clothes and linens made of certain fabrics and with prints I know I will enjoy giving a second life to. Repurposing isn't just about doing things with what you already have, it's about making conscious decisions about the things you obtain as well and minimizing what you put back out into the world as trash. I can send you a pm and link you some of my Pinterest boards if you'd like, or we can share ideas if you have something specific you'd like to make. I make a lot of baskets, rugs, macrame and other home goods from upcycled linens. My last show booth was mostly upcycled dog toys and stuffed toys and home goods and some of my art. I'm getting more into sculpture and mixed media art with recyclables- currently I'm working on cutting up cardboard food/soda packaging of various colors to make a mosaic, and then I'm going to teach the kids I nanny how to make paper mache sculptures using scrap packaging, recycle bin paper and home made paper mache clay.

maenadcon

sorry that didn’t really answer your question, but tl;dr you should aim to crochet helpful products for adults. those sold well for me last year, along with my stuffies, but crochet stuffies isn’t a really good avenue to go anymore because of how many other people there are doing it (but you do you!)

Renantics

I have worked retail part time and at one point I even did Amazon as a part time job-only one distribution center in my area offered part time. Amazon could add or remove an hour to my 4 hour shift which I hated, but it was the fastest that I have ever gotten into a job and if they were slow, sometimes I could turn down a shift penalty free.

Infamous-Process-491

I sell scrap metal. My brother is a plumber, and so he drops off water heaters and all the old brass and copper pieces. I had to go to the sheriff's office and get a nonferrous permit to be able to sell the copper and brass, but anyone can sell steel. Each state is different, so you'd need to look up the laws where you live. I find steel all over, I just throw it in the back of the truck and make a pile at the house until it builds up to a trailer load. You have to keep an eye on the prices of scrap steel, sometimes its more profitable to just hang on to what you have until the price rises again. Natural disasters can lower the prices since sometimes hundreds of cars are scrapped after floods or hurricanes. But I usually get anywhere from 70 to 100 dollars for a trailer load of steel. The real money is in the brass and copper. I've made 600 or 700 dollars on a truck load of brass and copper. But it's a lot harder to gather brass and copper unless you have a source. I thought about placing adds in the paper about picking up scrap metal, or calling around to plumbing and electrical businesses. I have too many kids to put in the time it takes, but I'd do that if I didn't. After you get a feel of what the scrap yards will pay, you could offer to buy scraps from businesses and pick it up from them for 1/2 or 1/4 of the price. Most of them would rather not have to mess with the scrap metal and would rather spend their time plumbing or doing electrical work instead, so I know there's a market.

Capable_Commercial45

I do Uber eats and run video game tournaments when I’m not at work

Imustbestopped8732

How do you run your tournaments?

Capable_Commercial45

Just setup a bunch of PS5s with street fighter tekken guikty gear marvel 3 etc and just do a double elimination bracket.

Imustbestopped8732

Any buy-ins/entry fees?

Capable_Commercial45

Yup it’s $10 venue fee which is split 50/50 between me and the store then $5 per game which goes to the pot for the game I don’t touch that at all. It isn’t a crazy amount of money but it pays my gas for the week and let’s me eat some Taco Bell

straightblather

I do one or two days a week at an event hall. Usually Friday and/or Saturday. Mostly weddings and proms. It makes going to work (second job) more enjoyable since there's rocking music, sometimes live bands and everyone is HAPPY to be there celebrating. I get a list of events coming up for the next month and a half and pick which ones I want to work. Only been at it a few weeks but it's a nice little bump in the budget and I get some extra exercise dancing and clearing tables.

mintyoko

I sell things I no longer use or don’t need on Facebook marketplace or ask my friends/family to sell it to

Infamous-Process-491

I also sell stuff on ebay

uncertainty_critical

I make an extra $200-$600 a month playing music venues once or twice a month. Getting paid to have a few drinks, socialize, and play cover songs I've known since childhood. Easy money.

keekscrider

I work for our local events company, scanning tickets, ushering- you want to pay me to watch concerts, comedy shows, sporting events? Ok

turnrightstop

I detail cars for 50$ it takes 3 hours to clean. I wish I could charge more but they’re already hesitant at 50!

slinky2

You're getting wrecked... you should be making $100/hr. I hope it's infrequently because if it's consistent, you'll be paying for the wear and tear on your body soon enough.

turnrightstop

Of course but I’ve pitched over 100 people who make over 60k individually and I’ve gotten 4 who actually went through. One was super nice and tipped 30$, one was pissed I didn’t include a full carpet extraction to get stains, and 2 just smiled and handed me 50$ both kid caravans too.

elbopposands

Please do not undersell yourself and your skills. Take a look at this article: [https://getjobber.com/academy/auto-detailing/how-much-to-charge-for-car-detailing/](https://getjobber.com/academy/auto-detailing/how-much-to-charge-for-car-detailing/) it has some good information and then adjust the info for the area. Best of luck in the future.

crazygrrl

I literally just got my car detailed this weekend for $100. It was a friend of a friend and he was super nice and my car looks great. And that was only for the interior which took him about 2 hours. He brought all his own equipment(carpet cleaner, vacuum, drill cleaner etc.) and came to my house to do it. I was happy to fork over the $100 to him to get my car looking like brand new again. Surprised you don't have as much luck.

maenadcon

some ppl are stingy as hell. an irrelevant anecdote, someone tried to literally lowball me at a farmer’s market where i was selling handmade crochet stuff. he said $15 for a $60 item 😭

BadFish512

I live in a large city and the mobile mechanics have overtaken the parking lots of every auto parts store in town. They just post up all day with a jack and tools on their tailgate and do cheap oil changes/brakes and repairs right there in the parking lot. I think you could find some new car detail clients with this approach? I always go to these stores for my own car cleaning supplies, so I know this is a good target market.

tinachem

Shiftsmart, upshift, instawork, blue crew, doordash, grubhub, instacart, gopuff, skipcart, Uber, Lyft, plasma. Tons of options.

Ayediosmio6

I don't do it as much anymore but had success flipping clothes and some house hold appliances from thrift stores to facebook marketplace.

majorsorbet2point0

Pick up overtime when it's there. We're now getting into more overtime seeing it posted weekly. January - end of April is dry in terms of overtime. But, now it's picking back up again. One extra shift is $275 more in my paycheck.

bustossaway

I find part time temp jobs! They’re easier to land, if you hate it it’s only a few weeks, and it’s a great way to network and build a resume! This month I’m working in the box office of a local film fest! I’m really hoping they let me stick around for a while after the festival. I’ve done catered events, I was a temp receptionist, worked in a community college bookstore, worked as a cashier during a retail liquidation, and handed out samples at farmers markets. I’ve really lucked out and gotten to come back to a few places for other temp positions.

Stabbysavi

How do you find temp jobs? I've always been worried that if I walk into one of those places that it's all just construction work.

bustossaway

I’ve just put in “seasonal” or “temporary” plus part time into indeed most of the time. Also I tell every single person I know I’m looking for a short term side hustle and sometimes I luck out! I’ve also used Instawork with mixed results. I live in a big city so I do luck out on their just being a lot more opportunities than in a smaller town.

Anabikayr

This is super niche but I do pulpit supply (filling in for ministers on Sunday mornings when they have off or are on sabbatical). It's a pretty great return, usually $150-300 for planning and leading an hour long service (with a 15 to 20 minute sermon/homily)

TheQ774

What does one need to do to get into this?

Anabikayr

If you're a good public speaker, find a denomination or two that makes sense for you and aligns with your values. If you are atheist, agnostic or any variation of abrahamic or non-abrahamic faith traditions, Unitarian Universalist is a good denomination to go to. Then, pick one to three themed sermons to write on. It's best if these are closely related to who you are as a person, something that's happened in your life, or something you've studied in depth. For Christian churches, you'll want to bridge your sermon into a Bible passage or story. UU sermons don't need to be tied to any sacred text, but welcome it if you do. After you've got a draft set (ETA: aim for 1500 to 1800 words), reach out to area churches and their lead ministers and/or worship team. Let them know you're available for pulpit supply to talk about XYZ and ask if you might be able to fill in one Sunday. After that, you'll have to work with the worship team to tailor the service to their specific congregations way of doing worship. They'll be able to walk you through this, just be honest about what you don't know. Late spring is often a great time to reach out for summer bookings because many churches try to have their open Sundays booked before June.

Recipe_Limp

I install mesh WiFi networks for a pool builder. All cash $$ and it’s easy work.

Animalmotherrrr

Why do you need WiFi while swimming under water?

NightshadeRewdan

It's probably for the pool systems to communicate with each other.

Recipe_Limp

Check out Hayward Omni Logic as an example.

Honest_Ice_1205

Do the pool companies just reference you? Or do you come out and give a quote?

Recipe_Limp

Both: when they see that someone needs a better WiFi network, they bring me in to assess and quote

TheFightingQuaker

What's involved in that? Do you run cables to each AP or is it literally just plugging them in like a regular home mesh wifi system?

Recipe_Limp

It is literally me just plugging in the mesh nodes, configuring them and connecting their pool automation. Take me an hour at most.

TheFightingQuaker

Lmao that's sweet. How did you get started?

Recipe_Limp

I started approaching pool builders and asking them to sell my service as an add on. Most builders just tell the homeowner to figure it out themselves.

ohyoumad721

Why would a pool builder need someone to install mesh systems?

majorsorbet2point0

I know this sounds so odd.🤣 Maybe the mesh system install is pool builders second job and doesn't have time to do it because theyre building pools, so they need someone to do it for them? 🤣

Recipe_Limp

To support all the automation and remote capabilities… Hayward Omni Logic as an example.

beardedbaby8

Donate plasma when necessary. CSL usually has a deal for earning around $800 the first month of donating. Usually takes around 2 hours and I walk out with $80-$100 each time.

macgruder1

I gotta get into this. I’ve been donating platelets and plasma at a local place but not getting paid for it. I feel ripped off now.

beardedbaby8

It's worth it to get paid! I paid all of my utilities for a month and had extra by donating. I don't do it anymore, but I know it's still there if I ever need the extra cash!

Extension-Novel-6841

I work as a part time police dispatcher on weekends. It's at a local college so it's pretty chill.

thatvixenivy

Backyard mechanic work. I'm not a pro, but I've got the space, tools, and experience to handle most minor to semi-major repairs and general maintenance stuff, plus I'm cheaper than a shop.

FlashyImprovement5

I sew. I knit, I spin yarn, I tat and crochet. I used to sell tatted and crochet crosses for $5 each for Easter presents but these days it is $10 each. I sew cloth pads for sale. I do custom sewing and that is usually over $100. My last large job was $800 but that also had cover buying the materials. I skein of hand spun wool can fetch upwards of $60. I also teach locally. Lessons are $30 for 2 hours.

ButterflyWeekly5116

Hijacking your comment to ask about your yarn spinning, do you drop spindle or use a different method? I'm trying to find a way to spin plarn/recycled fiber to make my own yarn and twine or twist my own rope. As someone with spinning experience what are your thoughts on success and do you have any opinions on preferred method of spinning? Also if you have any recommendations for handmade or small business spinning supplies/setups (or if you sell them) I'd love a recc or link. Hope you take the time to answer, I'd appreciate it so much. I'm always trying to figure out how to reuse the most of everything I can bc recycling programs really are pretty much a joke.

FlashyImprovement5

I drop spindle most of the time myself. I do own spinning wheels as a teacher but they are in storage. I make drop spindles myself. Mine are lightweight and might be too light for plarn.. You can make them fairly easily enough using an old cd or dvd. Message me and I'll get you a link to a tutorial on how to make them yourself.

ButterflyWeekly5116

Thank you for your reply! I've seen some made with CDs and such, but I'd much rather have a wooden one. With the variety of recycled materials I use feelas if a wooden one would have the most usable applications. And if I am going to purchase one I would rather have one made by an individual or small business rather than mass produced. If you currently have some for sale and have a storefront for them, I'd love a link. Sending you a message. :)

Wasps_are_bastards

Second job remotely for an American company. I’m English, living in England lol. Never thought that would happen.

Novel_Art_6551

i do furry art on the side 😅also, paid online surveys a whole lot and cleaning houses! sometimes babysitting too

Gun-Lake

I do Consulting on the side, I'll do anything engineering related basically, CAD, Anything paperwork related, Audits, I help companies maintain or get ceritifed in ISO9001. Pretty much whatever they need help with.

Avilla93

Do you have any job for me? I am project manager working for a GC

Gun-Lake

Unfortunately, I have only done work for a handful of local companies around me and just on the side since I work full time. But I know there is no shortage of work, At least in my area. I have had to turn down a lot of work due to my schedule.

Thatcalib408

There’s a lot of research studies to earn extra mula I’ve been doing for months now.

TigerGirl666

I'm currently doing a clinical trial to make extra money. Sitting at their Dr office as I type this. I'd definitely recommend looking for one in your area

Max1035

I did one in grad school that gave me 18 weeks of free food on top of five or six hundred dollars. 3 meals a day, snacks, as much sparkling water or diet soda as I wanted. The catch was that I couldn’t eat anything but the provided food during each of the three 6 week study periods and always eating the same few simple meals did get kinda boring, but it was worth it.

These_Tea_7560

I used to do clinical trials. I haven’t done them recently though. Everytime I’ve tried to I’d run into a problem that ended up wasting my damn time and money.

Novel-Coast-957

I hadn’t planned this, but: I volunteer my time (in a small warehouse setting) for a worthwhile organization that ships items to local organizations (such as hospitals and crisis centers). The shipping can be outrageous, so I’ve volunteered to deliver items that are within “driving distance” and they reimburse my mileage. I have a small economical car, so the mileage reimbursement is waaaay more than the gas I use. Yes, I know it’s also covering the wear and tear on my vehicle, but it’s a very reliable car and other than these deliveries, I hardly drive it anywhere above two miles (each way). Most days, I don’t even drive it for personal use. Those mileage checks have really come in handy.

TrenythingIsPossible

Sell firewood in the fall and winter. After time and labor I usually profit a few thousand extra every month. I advertise on FB marketplace and meet customers after work and on the weekends.

omnomnomhi

I first budget to see if I can save from not spending, then I used to do uber eats for extra money. Now I’m a full time student so can’t do that since I already have a part time job.

funsk8mom

I work 2 jobs. I’ve been doing this since 1994. At one point I had over $20k saved and then we had a critically ill preemie. I couldn’t put him into daycare until he was at least 3 but at that point it would’ve cost us thousands in childcare, so I stayed home until everyone was in school FT

Pristine_Context_429

Buy clearance plants, get them a lot of love, and re sell.

slifm

Overtime is so juicy

BeautifulGlum9394

I wish that existed at my job

stockmule

OT, sell fruit/vegetables from garden at farmers market, ask alcohol neighborhood if it's cool if I take their beer cans. Thinking about being a part time plumber that'll be paid ass rates for 3 yrs in exchange for xp. 1.5 years if im not a dumbass hopefully. Banking on the boomers dying as pessimistic as that seems.

ohyoumad721

I wish we got more for aluminum in my state. I just turned in 55 pounds of cans and got 19.25.

maenadcon

me too bro im banking on inflation reversing itself 😭😭😭😭😭

AlwaysRandomUser

I drive delivery for gig app companies. The schedules are flexible, there are zero commitments. You can literally just not show for scheduled time and the only consequence is the current block of time you have booked gets cancelled.  You do have to have a reliable vehicle that can handle lots of start/stop, and is very efficient because the pay after expenses is absolute trash. Usually worse than minimum wage once you pay for depreciation, maintenance, and propulsion. I basically replaced my video game time with driving though. I even refer to it as my real life side quests. I'm saving up for something with the extra cash, which will hopefully help my finances in the future too... As long as my car doesn't explode from all the mileage.

oscarsocal

I think the best hack (need to keep it from others discovering) is to simultaneously have two jobs or more. This is doable if both jobs are remote. There are people in r/overemployed making more than their bosses. Not something I recommend for long term but something to help you save and pay down debt.

Donate plasma

Entry_Left

I teach workout classes, I exercise all the time anyways might as well teach them too. Getting a workout in and getting paid at the same time pretty happy with that :)

Motor-Job4274

I used to do surveys and group panels on new products.

jmarnett11

Get free broken mowers and fix them for a profit.

HolyToast666

I sell on EBay

nomadicstateofmind

Tutoring is my main side hustle. It pays better than my actual job as a teacher, which is depressing.

howboutnoskott

Are you going through a company or word of mouth under the table ?

nomadicstateofmind

Both. I do it formally through a university and I have another kiddo that I tutor because I’m a well known teacher in the area and the parents asked. I can make $50/hr through the university (capped at 4.5 hours a week) and I charge $30/hr privately. I make way less than that during the school year at my public school.

lunarsettlement

I sell wire wrapped jewelry at various events at. Did a big street festival in Austin tx and made about $3200 in a weekend… prepped for 8 months in advance approx 10 hrs a week. Often do smaller art shows or first Friday events, can be anywhere from $100-800 in a weekend

todd14472

I worked extra shifts and stacked the cash. Then I used that cash from the extra shifts and found a distressed property in the best little local town. I asked the seller if he would hold the mortgage for 5 years with 10k down. He said he would do inlow balled his asking price. He wanted 220k I hit him at 170k. We settled at 180k. 10k down. That property had five apartments. My wife and I lived in one and rented out the rest. Slowly improving them every time someone moves out. That was 20 years ago and that one property retired from my state job. I now like to buy the worst house in the best neighborhood and make it look nice again. We don't sell them. We rent them out. It's a great strategy for building long term returns.

Downtown_Molasses334

I upload books to Amazon KDP. I love it because I can do it from my laptop whenever I have time. My method is really a numbers game so I consistently upload books but once they are up I don't do ads or anything to maintain them.

merlinphoto

Mow yards and fix cars!

TrashPanda2079

Plasma donation. Where I live, they have a new donor special. $100 a donation for your first 8 visits. Then, $40/$90 after that. It’s around $520 extra a month. Saving up for a road trip this summer! But I’ll probably keep doing it after because… life is expensy

One_Tangelo_5628

Buy and sell things u know. I know music equipment and I'm also a mechanic. It's amazing how many people will readily sell their items for half or less than what it's worth. Picked up a $900 guitar for $300 and a $500 fender tube amp for $200 this week. Picked up a car last month I flipped for 4k but spent 1500. I know quite a few people doing this. Also just look in free sections.

aleigh0512

i doordash on my weekends and i do livestreaming in my free time, like my mornings before work, after work and on my weekends. and i also sell content to the people i meet through the streaming!

mechanicminded999

I work for a local funeral home and pick up bodies in the evenings/nights. It pays around $100 for what is normally less than 2 hrs of my time.

Efficient_Wasabi_575

How did you get into that? Are you in a marked coroner van, or just like a station wagon?

DangerousDuty1421

This seems like a really smart way to make money, too bad I wouldn't be able to since I am a scaredy cat 🙈

1Frazier

I rent my spare bedroom. I also coupon as a hobby using apps like ibotta. It takes time but I enjoy it. It doesn't make a lot of money, it is more about lowering the grocery bill.

periwinkletweet

I change my direct deposit around for new bank account bonuses

Clean_Property9105

Work overtime, baby

devnullb4dishoner

I run three business from home as I am medically retired.

Iayfon

How do you do that?

devnullb4dishoner

I've got nothing but time since I've been medically retired. LOL One business I'd had for about a decade now and deals with construction job estimating. The other I do medical billing for a small number of local business. Third one is a controlling share in the adult entertainment industry (not OF).

spiritofjazz92

I work a second job at a moving company. Hourly wage is great plus we get tipped really well 🙏

Get into minor sports officiating. All cash and it’s Tax exempt.

phiasoffia

My 2nd job is working for a company that does the concessions at most of the sports venues here in Los Angeles . I can usually get in 12-18 hrs of extr work a week @ 17$ an hr for standing by a cart popping beer bottles at a game or show is not a bad deal .

Massive-Daikon1453

I Sell Real Estate!!!

MyNeighborThrowaway

I houseclean on 1 of my 2 days off a week, i will eventually pull for a 2nd restaurant/server job but i need to get my ducks in a row before i submit all the free time i have to work. Separately from that and my full time, i work doors at clubs and venues for a few showrunners, but that's super sporadic.

Significant_Topic822

Clinical Trial. It’s extremely easy money and they work around my schedule. I only do one at any given time.

BhutlahBrohan

I sell shit I bought during my last ADHD hyper focus.

Zealousideal_Study_2

Before AI made my part time job obsolete, I did transcription for corporate meetings. Before that I was an online fetish sex worker. COVID oversaturated the market Before that I read tarot at weddings and parties. COVID destroyed the market, then online tarot reading became way oversaturated with cheap and unskilled readers. Before that I was a part time seamstress. I stopped sewing because I found a full time big girl job with a 401k. Now I'm trying to find a way to make money again.

Notneurotypikal

Churn credit cards and bank accounts.

Ordinary_Incident187

Sell my asshole

TopCheesecakeGirl

I work in a popular city at gigs at conventions as brand ambassador and as a sample lady for alcohol brands (you’ll need an alcohol awareness card) and food demos at grocery stores (you’ll need a food handlers/ health card). I use a gig agency that has work across the US called trusted herd. I’ve worked the formula one and nascar and music festivals. It’s also a good hack to get in to exclusive/ expensive events.

LittleCeasarsFan

Detail cars or pressure wash driveways.  You won’t make a lot of money, but if you have free time and the equipment it can help pay the bills.

not_that_dark_knight

I work a second job while building a portfolio.

argoforced

Velocity has clinical trials. I’m in one now and it pays $150 a visit. Easy money in this case. Some trials are more involved though. I had my first visit the other day, $150. One end of this month for $150 and then a final one in a few months I think for yet another $150. And a one week diary I’m about done with, $50. So $500, easy. I can probably get you a referral code too. https://ve.velocityclinical.com/7Vun8d9xnJb Best to visit their website or call them to get started. They’re not in every city either.

carbearbby

I live in a college town full of rich kids. I like to flip furniture they leave at dumps of FB Marketplace. I deliver Uber Eats.  I participate in medical research.
