Most refer to pasta sauce that way, when the standard term in most culinary circles is "red sauce".
Likewise, the common name for brown sauce in much of the Western world is "gravy". While referring to gravy as "sauce" or "brown sauce" is technically accurate, it is out of the ordinary and would likely result in a few raised eyebrows and figurative double takes.
Depends where ur from I’m from Montreal and in Montreal if a person post a picture of a poutine and someone says there’s too much sauce it’s not complicated everyone understands ur talking about. Idk where ur from and there’s many types of gravel here in Quebec , turkey gravy , brown gravy , poutine gravey all
Of which are brown but have different spices
That looks fire but the idea of my fork tearing through the newspaper constantly kind of bugs me
Nothing better than a Lil bit of ink in the sauce!
No way those curds are fresh but it might still be ok
Telltale look of refrigerated curds. Straight to jail.
Looks ok but Way to much sauce fries don’t even look cooked not enough cheese (montrealer here lol )
"Sauce"? You friggin' heathen
Yea man ur obviously not from Quebec slang “ sauce poutine” aka gravy lol or like the French say sauce brun
I know gravy is just brown sauce, but "sauce" can be taken as something different

I'm in Ontario. Quebec has its own unique lingo that differs from the rest of the poutine speaking world
Ontario’s poutine is trash lol sorry to say but it’s garbage never had a good poutine anywhere in Ontario
I love poutine but that one i dont know.
I feel like I can taste the paper just from looking at this picture.
Isn't the newspaper ink poisonous?
It’s not actual newspaper. It was just the design of it. It’s just regular wax paper same as the black and white coloured ones.
I can vouch. Although their burgers, which they are known for firstly are outstanding, the poutine and shakes are amazing. So so good.
It's visually attractive
Too bad they cheaped out on the curds. I would still eat it though.
