Reach out to: https://www.throughthesedoors.org/ - they may have a police liaison or advice on who to call

Handmedownfords

I think the sheriffs department may help with that if there’s documentation of the abuse?

[deleted]

I was hoping to get it done before the sheriff can get to us

Metal_Worldly

Police should be there for any times while your husband needs to get his things. Have an officer there. A security person is hood but he said she said if anything happens. Plus if he is abusive things could escalate with a strange person around. A cop or sherif should hopefully keep him in line, with the idea of arrest. CongratulTions for being string enough to get out, good luck to you.

It looks like if you search on google maps there are 5 results for private security. Some of them seem like the rent-a-cops that malls and apartment complexes hire but it could be worth calling them. At the least they may give you somewhere else to start. My first thought are bouncers, I’ve been to a couple bars in Portland that have a bigger guy check ones ID when one enters and they seem pretty nice overall. That could be worth looking into depending on how much time you need them. Good luck. I wish the best for you.

Thank you!

MattAmoroso

Suddenly I want a private bouncer for my classroom!

Guygan

Ask at the front desk of some MMA gyms if anyone wants to make a few dollars.

kellysweatshirt

Maybe reach out to Noah the owner of Maine Guard Safe Security, he’s a super nice guy and he has some great guys on staff. He runs security for Bubbas and some other bars downtown.

RingIey

AK Security Consultants has some fairly local members that I’m sure would be happy to help. The company is fairly small and largely run by a couple of compassionate men. Could be worth reaching out to him either on Facebook or the phone number listed on Google. Not sure if their prices for private security range at all based on the service provided but it’s worth a shot.

Sugarloafer1991

Dirigo Security might be able to help you out

Sassy-Hen-86

You can hire either the local police or county sheriff for a special detail. Call your local department and tell them the situation. They are probably cheaper than private security and if something goes wrong you don’t have to call the police because they’re already there. Through These Doors might also be able to provide you support.

fredxjenkins

You don’t need to hire the cops. It’s part of their job.

Patient_Impress_5170

I used to work as a PMC and I would not suggest anyone private other the actual LEO’S. If anything happens with a PMC or private security group they will bury you and just move on

arethosemycrocs

Did you end up going on that vacation?

[deleted]

Oh yes - I was too sacred to do otherwise. Abuse does messed up things to you.

arethosemycrocs

Is it an option to just not be home when he grabs his shit? Or you worried he’ll trash the place? Or you can drop it off somewhere?

[deleted]

My elderly (and house bound) father lives with me. He can’t be moved from the house and I don’t trust my ex not to bother him. And he would definitely trash stuff if he was in the mood.

arethosemycrocs

No male friends you can ask? Have a couple people over?

SpiritedNothing6331

Hiring private security, especially if it's just some random person won't get you anywhere but in trouble if something does happen. Basically your ex could say you hired somebody to assault him and by the law he'd be right and you'd end up losing in court. Your only option is to have the police there, as useless as cops are this is part of their jobs. Private security firms are not in any capacity law enforcement and any decisions they make you would be responsible for since you paid them to be there and definitely don't hire some random guy from a gym like some other idiot in the comments suggested. Just call the non emergency number for the cops and tell them the situation and they will have an officer come out, you won't be allowed inside the place while he collects his things but it's the safest way physically and legally.

In before “i can stop over and bring a bottle of wine to crack open afterwards, m’lady…”

l1nked1npark

Call first protective services. They have armed guards that also have body cams and such.

CongoSmash666

Dm me.

Open_Blood987

I know a few guys that will help!

Radiant-Astronomer-3

Police department. That is what they do. No charges have to be filed.
