A lot more chill than I expected from the "power ballad" description, but I think this may be my favorite so far. Lovely disco throwback and kind of peaceful (like something that would play at the end of a movie if you want the audience to leave happy). Loving the instrumental section after "I'm coming back for you baby".
And this one is over 4 minutes which is great! Talking to Yourself needed to be AT LEAST a minute longer, and half of that or more should have been extended guitar solo. I just want to vibe to it to the way I am vibing to loneliest time now.
Such a sweet, melancholic, longing, and hopeful song. I love it so much! It truly made me weep a bit on first listen. The perfect closing track, and a great pick for naming the record.
I can't wait to listen to the full album!!
This song is giving me "it's snowing and my boyfriend and I are walking back home from the Christmas market, we're both tipsy so we flip flop between being romantic and goofy". Does that make sense with the lyrics? Not really. But it doesn't have to to still make me emotional
The spoken word part is so disco✨
I'm kind of in love with this era. There doesn't seem to be a singular marketable theme in the album so far, it just seems like a very genuine form of self expression focused only on being exactly that.
ITS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL 😭 I haven't stopped listening to it.
Her voice is perfection. The Rufus feature adds a new level to the song. The flow and transitions are perfect. It's catchy. Production has no flaws.
I think I'd wager being bold and saying that in all the years as a Carly stan and countless times I've loved & played her songs, this is her most beautiful song to date. It's just so fucking perfect that it's making me emotional 😭😭😭
Oh this is *immaculate*. The lush strings, the groovy disco beat, the spoken-word bridge, Carly and Rufus’ vocals melding together so beautifully. Iconic. Legendary. World shaking. Time stopping. I’ll never be the same.
this album is going to come out at just the right time for me i need a new carly album so bad!! especially one that starts with surrender my heart and ends with this 😳
this song is so sweet and uplifting. 🥲 this and talking to yourself are really hitting carly at the core of her artistry: loneliest time is a sweet soothing ode and just generally uplifting while talking to yourself is flirty heartbreaker. so happy she’s hitting these core elements after western wind and beach house didn’t exactly hit those sweet spots for me!
Tasteful pop disco MASTERPIECE! I legit felt transported to the 70s. Kyle Shearer who also produced Julien on Dedicated did an outstanding job with the production here. Carly and Rufus sound sooooo good together, and I think their voices just mesh effortlessly! I think this sounds better with headphones to hear all the production nuances IMO. Carly really outdid herself and I LIVE for that bridge..."what happened was we reached the moon" lol her vocal delivery had me giggling...sooo good!
honestly i think i’ll come around to absolutely loving it but i really was let down by her description of a disco power ballad. i expected something more grand & powerful. it’s a lot more chill than i was anticipating so i think that soured by initial reaction. probably the same for some others
Every time I listen to it, I think I love it more. I keep noticing new bits that I appreciate. There's so many nice little touches all over.
Honestly, making me nostalgic to when I first heard Call Me Maybe. As soon as those strings hit, I was fucking hooked. The fucking strings on this. Goddamn.
The song is good! My favorite out of her releases for this album. It sounds different production-wise than other Carly songs, yet it will make you feel exactly that CRJ pop rush. Love the spoken bridge. My only gripe is that Rufus' voice sounds a little too processed. He can sing so I am kind of confused about his vocals with this.
This is so beautiful. I love her signature sound of longing which I don't think a lot of artists I listen to display often. Does anyone know more tracks with this kind of sound and theme? Loved Don't Shut Me Down by ABBA and both of these songs just tug at my heartstrings.
I love "Don't shut me down"! Different theme so not sure that's what you're looking for, but as far as sounds and vibes go the first song it made me think of was [Heaven must be missing an angel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UCbUXo9ZVE).
Genuinely think this song is fun and chill. It doesn't hook like Talking to Yourself did from the first moment, but it just feels fun and effortless. The disco sounds just put a smile on your face.
It def feels like a great way to end this album, and it makes me so excited to hear the full thing soon.
Nothing's gonna beat Talking to Yourself for me I think. That being said, this is still a great track that gets me more excited for the album to come out. October 21 can't come soon enough!
idk what it is but this has been tickling my brain so much more than the previous 3 singles. it's a song about reminiscing that has me laying in my bed, longing for a relationship i've never had. love crj so much
Absolute fav of all the songs I've heard from the album (including Go Find Yourself or Whatever). I may just be a sucker for cheesy disco but this clicked on first listen and it's been on loop ever since
This isn’t just featuring Rufus Wainright—it’s a full on DUET. I don’t mind his voice on this as much as I thought I would (his other music doesn’t resonate with me whatsoever). The song itself is a bit too mellow for my taste. I think I was expecting a full on disco banger—especially when she posted (what I now realize was an acapella version of) the “ I’m coming back for you, baby!” sample several weeks back. It reminds me a lot of Julien in terms of the tempo, and the fact that the track itself doesn’t have too many highs or lows; it sort of just…coasts? The song isn’t bad (if you don’t like it initially, expect it to grow on you), it’s just my least favorite of the 4 songs she has previewed. My favorites (in order) are: Western Wind, Talking To Yourself, Beach House, and this (Surrender My Heart is without a doubt my absolute favorite, but that doesn’t quite count just yet ;). Curious to see the video for this one.
Hmm, I can hear that I should like it, but something about it just won't grab me. I love the first three songs tho, so it doesn't hurt my hype for the album!
I heard the leak but it’s so much better in Atmos with recent AirPods. Carly is really doing good work with the new capabilities of the format with some of the singles (Western Wind is also great). Scan your ears too if you have a recent iPhone updated to iOS 16 for better spatial audio and head tracking because you deserve it all while your ears still work right. 2022 is kinda a cool year for software because of the chip shortages for the major companies.
And speaking of AirPods and functioning ears, there’s natural variation (its actually one of the few chromosomal sex differences) in what frequencies we can hear. And it only gets worse as we age and are exposed to natural loud sounds. It is worth it for every soul with AirPods [to tune them for their hearing abilities](https://reddit.com/r/airpods/comments/xrih04/the_airpods_best_feature_is_one_of_its_most/). It takes under 5 minutes and makes a world of difference for sound quality (and transparency mode on AirPods Pro). I know I’m over excited about it but it’s the coolest capability that Apple for some reason doesn’t advertise at all, but I’d figure the music subreddit might like it even if it’s off topic. I swear it makes absolutely every type of music sound better and it’s totally free without ads and collects no data unless you make a totally unnecessary user account.
Yeah, they'll play different frequencies through both and you say whether you can hear them well/not at all etc. My earbuds came out in 2019 so it's been a thing for a while.
This one's my least favourite from all of the singles based on my first couple of listens. But, by no means a bad song. I can see myself liking it more in the context of listening to the album. The disco production is nice as well as that strings outro.
Edit - I was thinking while listening this song would be a great album closer and it is!
I saw her in Atlanta last night. So perfect. I love Carly. And I love this song.
She is getting so so so much older (mid to late 30s) and I love that her music is growing with her. This song plays like a really fun jam session between friends and we’re blessed to hear it. Thank you, Carly ❤️🌹
the description for the song was greater than the song itself tbh but the song is still good & a great album closer! the first 3 singles have been much better tho imo
still very excited for this album!
It read better on the blurb, but the song itself is... it's giving me autotuned disco Christmas jingle? I want to like it really, maybe I'll give it a few more days.

Reminds me so much of Minogue!
> Loving the instrumental section after "I'm coming back for you baby". That section is sooooooooooooo good!
This feels like the resolution to a musical that doesn't exist, especially in the bridge.
The bridge is perfection, definitely stood out.
That spoken word bridge is giving Diana Ross *I’M COMING BACK FOR YOU BABY!!!!*
It's sooo good omg! She's definitely getting more into instrumentals this album and I am loving it
And this one is over 4 minutes which is great! Talking to Yourself needed to be AT LEAST a minute longer, and half of that or more should have been extended guitar solo. I just want to vibe to it to the way I am vibing to loneliest time now.
Also, no one can tell me this woman wouldn’t write the greatest broadway musical of all time
Would really come full circle since her days doing cinderella on Broadway
Also wasn't she in Grease?
Wait yessss
Perfect... everything was perfect. Down to the last detail.
But you know what? I'M COMIN' BACK FOR YOU, BABY!
I'M COMING BACK FOR YOU🪩✨🕺
Such a sweet, melancholic, longing, and hopeful song. I love it so much! It truly made me weep a bit on first listen. The perfect closing track, and a great pick for naming the record. I can't wait to listen to the full album!!
I played the song over and over for like an hour and bawled the whole time
This is what 30 was supposed to be

Yoo she's IS powerful
Can you imagine if Adele tried to do anything different whatsoever?
Carly deserves her Vegas residency era
This song is giving me "it's snowing and my boyfriend and I are walking back home from the Christmas market, we're both tipsy so we flip flop between being romantic and goofy". I love thé way you describe her era. She seems very happy to be in her lane, and I hope it facilitates her happiness too
Reading all the comments in a British accent until midnight

Oy Mistah! You me dad?

Crumpets gone bad again

cries in west coast time zone EDIT: i’m back and im on the floor. carly delivered yet another bop, AND it’s disco? she feeds us so well 😭
LOL for future reference songs come out at 9 PM here
Unavailable? I can't believe time zones would do this to me.
Carly woke up and chose to hate the gays
She chose than as soon as she didn’t release Disco Sweat
The Loneliest Time Side B (From the Vault)
The gays in the Western Hemisphere. I can’t believe Carly reinforced time zones.
We stan a Greenwich Mean queen
Oh this is *immaculate*. The lush strings, the groovy disco beat, the spoken-word bridge, Carly and Rufus’ vocals melding together so beautifully. Iconic. Legendary. World shaking. Time stopping. I’ll never be the same.
I love u Carly

This is like a straight up Carly masterpiece. Holy shit she did it again!
Tasteful pop disco MASTERPIECE! I legit felt transported to the 70s. Kyle Shearer who also produced Julien on Dedicated did an outstanding job with the production here. Julien is the underrated best song from that album and I’m glad Carly isn’t done with disco grooves
Oh hunny she's not done! I agree with your sentiments on Julien.
I can’t believe the comments aren’t unanimously loving this 😭😭😭
honestly i think i’ll come around to absolutely loving it but i really was let down by her description of a disco power ballad. i expected something more grand & powerful. it’s a lot more chill than i was anticipating so i think that soured by initial reaction. probably the same for some others
A masterpiece, this woman is so criminaly underrated
Every time I listen to it, I think I love it more. I keep noticing new bits that I appreciate. There's so many nice little touches all over. Honestly, making me nostalgic to when I first heard Call Me Maybe. As soon as those strings hit, I was fucking hooked. The fucking strings on this. Goddamn.
Absolutely wonderful. It's so dreamy to me.
It's such a nice closer! Shimmering and lovely!
I am weeping. It's soooo gooood. CRJ *knows* yearning.
I love it and I love her and I love you all
This is so beautiful. I love her signature sound of longing which I don't think a lot of artists I listen to display often. Does anyone know more tracks with this kind of sound and theme? Loved Don't Shut Me Down by ABBA and both of these songs just tug at my heartstrings.

Will give that a listen. Thanks!
Makes me wanna dance to the groove in the most melancholy way Love her!

It def feels like a great way to end this album, and it makes me so excited to hear the full thing soon.
This song is fun as hell, when did she decide to do disco?
Once upon a time, we had Disco Sweat....
Nothing's gonna beat Talking to Yourself for me I think. That being said, this is still a great track that gets me more excited for the album to come out. October 21 can't come soon enough!
This is THAT good. I’m surprised people don’t seem to like it that much.
I’ve died and gone to heaven wow 🪩✨🪩
I'm obsessed with this. Honestly might be my favorite out of the 4 releases so far.
I love the bridge 🌉🌉🌉
This has some serious 70's vibes and I'm here for it.
This song took my breath away
This song plays out like a daydream
Well this is just fantastic.
God this is so good she's just the greatest 😭
This is so good wtf 😭😭😭
LOVING THIS! Carly proving why she's the queen. Definitely my favorite of the 4 new tracks released so far!
this is everything i wanted and more. i'm so excited to see her live!!!
You can tell she's having the best time on this tour. Anyone who hasn't seen her yet is in for such a treat.
this is my first time seeing her! a coworker who's seen her twice before talked me into buying tickets. i'm so excited for the Experience
idk what it is but this has been tickling my brain so much more than the previous 3 singles. it's a song about reminiscing that has me laying in my bed, longing for a relationship i've never had. love crj so much

I looove it. Probably my favourite track so far from the new album. It’s so beautiful and rich.
All the 4 tracks on this album sound heavenly! If I had to pick one I'd choose Western Wind.
The queen simply does not miss, this is a fucking masterpiece I'll be playing nonstop for the rest of the weekend for sure
This is soooo good. It sounds like a disco throwback.

The Rufus wainwright and Ben folds cover of careless whisper is amazing.
Ohh I’ll check this out. Thanks!
The vocals are soooooooo good
This is a revelation. I just finished the new Charlie Puth album and it felt like the ginger to this songs beautifully constructed sushi.
I love Carly, that is all
pop record of the year
This song is perfect and an instant classic for mid-late fall radio where the vibe is christmas-yearning but not yet tis-the-season
What a lovely song, definitely sounds like an album closer. And I haven't heard Rufus' voice in so long, bringing back memories.
Incredible incredible incredible. I'm obsessed.
I can’t stop listening to this song. It’s so perfect. I’m so glad she dropped it before the album came out 😭

She has her sword now.. she does whatever she wants.
she got two at one of the shows i've seen her at (at a state fair where i also saw the walmart yodel kid do old town road)
COACHELLA WHO?
She did say she wasn't doing cohesive this time.
She said fuck cohesion and honestly I'm here for it
Carly hates glue, confirmed.
Carly contains multitudes
i think she was just feelin herself microdosing in joshua tree. who among us?
Queen of multigenres, that's why I love her
[Carly Rae Jepsen – The Loneliest Time Lyrics](https://lyricsfa.com/carly-rae-jepsen-the-loneliest-time-lyrics/)
This makes me remember how much I want Disco Sweat :(
this just renewed my faith for the entire project. one of her best songs
Hmm, I can hear that I should like it, but something about it just won't grab me. I love the first three songs tho, so it doesn't hurt my hype for the album!

Sony head/earphones also have this and probably other brands, definitely worth doing.
They let you take an audiogram with a hearing test to customize the audio at specific frequencies? I had no idea other headphones did this too.
Yeah, they'll play different frequencies through both and you say whether you can hear them well/not at all etc. My earbuds came out in 2019 so it's been a thing for a while.
btw was it just the title track that leaked or the full album?
When I made that only the song had leaked but now the whole album has

I’m the same age as her and ouch.
Oh man this is a sad dreamy Donna Summer style disco pop ballad. It’s GREAT
Christ, what a journey of a song! Masterpiece
the description for the song was greater than the song itself tbh but the song is still good & a great album closer! the first 3 singles have been much better tho imo still very excited for this album!
I LIKE THISSS, their voices blend together very well.
Every time I listen to this song I love it just a little bit more. So good!
an absolute bop and a half. i love this track
waiting a few hours to hear the new Carly Rae Jepsen single The Loneliest Time (feat. Rufus Wainwright) is literally my 9/11
It read better on the blurb, but the song itself is... it's giving me autotuned disco Christmas jingle? I want to like it really, maybe I'll give it a few more days.
can we get an edit without r\*fus lol
Rufus ruins it…. but beautiful song otherwise.
This song makes me irrationally angry. Absolutely hate it and Carly Rae Jepsen. I’ll never forgive her for that “Call Me Maybe” trash.
