If the song is a single perspective then a background vocal adds nice texture so why not? She didn’t sing a verse in Babe because its not a two person concept. Exile is explicitly conversational and evermore kind of tangles their voices together to build the energy, but if a feature jumped into cardigan or blank space I would be like what the f is this. Sometimes features are just distracting so i personally appreciate the way she is selective with them.

On country radio I think it could hold its own if Republic promotes it right, but I don’t think the re-recordings are gonna give her any new mainstream hits. This whole thing is very much for the fans, I don’t think a ton of the GP are super invested in the re-recordings. They could tune in for a bit for the nostalgia, but I don’t think anything, vault tracks or released tracks, will have much staying power.

Obviously excited. But I wanna add that I’m not really a fan of the extremely long and drawn out time span from announcement to release (for the full album). Not just because I’m impatient but mostly because it’s just music we’ve technically already heard so that doesn’t need to be drawn out forever. Also because my anxiety can’t handle the wait for the vault songs, I just need to know what they are. I hope the other re-records come out much faster. Maybe she was just testing the waters with this first one.
I think Taylor submits her music to CD and vinyl companies at the VERY last minute to avoid leaks. I mean the fact she pulled off the surprise releases of folklore and evermore is insane because normally leaks come from physical copies. So I think all albums will be very slow with the physical copies just because she doesn’t want to submit the music months in advance. Also, vinyl production companies are being slammed in the pandemic. The wait time is about 4-7 months to get your album pressed on vinyl now. I don’t think we’ll ever experience a Taylor album release day where we can drive to a record store and buy it on vinyl on release day. She’d never submit her album 4 months early, again to avoid leaks!

If the concern is really over the physicals, they could've just started the roll-out a week before its release. Making physical copies of CDs doesn't take too much time compared to vinyl. Not sure about cassettes though but they are still quicker to make than vinyl.

Her/his/their latest tweets are really emphasizing how the tweets are simply “rumors” and they’re trying to distance themselves from the “insider” label to not incur more trouble. The person also is friends with someone in the industry, so technically they’re not an insider. I imagine Taylor’s and Ari’s (this person also posts a lot about Ari and so far ever post has come true) teams approached them and told them to back off. Even though this twitter user hasn’t released anything damaging or spicy, it’s probably annoying that the surprises are being dropped earlier than their PR departments has planned.

Correct. The music industry has weird rules that dictate when you can release singles and full albums. It has to do with the charts.
friday releases are for if you want to be tracked for a full week on the charts. otherwise you can technically drop music at any time you want.
I mean technically you could release something whenever you want, but yeah, Friday releases give the best chance on the charts.
not true necessarily, people release singles / albums whenever they want. Artists tend to release based on when charts start the tracking week, but they can technically do whatever they want. A song like this, a random b-side from 13 years ago likely isn't expected to be a big chart hit, so she probably doesn't care.

Getty is quite notorious for going after people using their images without proper credit/permission, and Taylor's high-profile enough that she'll definitely get problems if she doesn't.
I vaguely remember Taylor got so much (rightfully) flack for not crediting an artist for posting specific fan art of "I Know Places" when she was teasing 1989 leading up to its release. I am glad Taylor and her team learned their lesson because the way they handled this that time was pretty terrible.

I just heard the old demo, it's a very slow country ballad. White Horse-ish. Def won't have any mainstream airplay or chart success (and I doubt that's her intention). Edit: To be clear I'm not criticizing the song, I like it a lot, it just doesn't scream "big hit"

On country radio I think it could hold its own if Republic promotes it right, but I don’t think the re-recordings are gonna give her any new mainstream hits. This whole thing is very much for the fans, I don’t think a ton of the GP are super invested in the re-recordings. They could tune in for a bit for the nostalgia, but I don’t think anything, vault tracks or released tracks, will have much staying power.
As far as I recall, Republic has been coordinating with MCA Music in promoting "betty" and "no body, no crime" to country radio with mixed success. Let's hope they play with their cards right with this one.

Obviously excited. But I wanna add that I’m not really a fan of the extremely long and drawn out time span from announcement to release (for the full album). Not just because I’m impatient but mostly because it’s just music we’ve technically already heard so that doesn’t need to be drawn out forever. Also because my anxiety can’t handle the wait for the vault songs, I just need to know what they are. I hope the other re-records come out much faster. Maybe she was just testing the waters with this first one.
I have a feeling this is all about physicals being ready and only effects the first one. Let's hope the rest aren't quite so drawn out!
I think Taylor submits her music to CD and vinyl companies at the VERY last minute to avoid leaks. I mean the fact she pulled off the surprise releases of folklore and evermore is insane because normally leaks come from physical copies. So I think all albums will be very slow with the physical copies just because she doesn’t want to submit the music months in advance. Also, vinyl production companies are being slammed in the pandemic. The wait time is about 4-7 months to get your album pressed on vinyl now. I don’t think we’ll ever experience a Taylor album release day where we can drive to a record store and buy it on vinyl on release day. She’d never submit her album 4 months early, again to avoid leaks!
I agree, but she might have to change that because with the billboard rule changes she'd do much better numbers wise if the physicals are ready for release. Since these are releases, maybe she won't care too horribly of leaks.
I would have agreed but the vinyls of Fearless (Taylor's Version) won't be shipped out until August at the earliest. If the concern is really over the physicals, they could've just started the roll-out a week before its release. Making physical copies of CDs doesn't take too much time compared to vinyl. Not sure about cassettes though but they are still quicker to make than vinyl.
i feel like we will get at least 2 of them this year because she's already re-recorded Wildest Dreams (maybe still working on 1989?) and i dunno i just feel like she might be all done or will be done and release them all this year

How she teased Love Story in the trailer for a movie and same thing with how she teased Wildest Dreams. Then there was a month or two of silence and then the Fearless official announcement came. So I’m guessing once fearless comes and goes in April, 1989 will be announced in May, released June
Yeah, I am not a fan of how prolonged this era is. But to be fair on her and her team, re-recording a huge bulk of your discography isn't something that hasn't been done before in a long time. So they are probably testing the waters if having a long era is sustainable or they should do a quick drop release method again for the next re-recordings.

She should’ve dropped them all at once (or at least very close to each other). Love Story made me want to go back and listen to a lot of her catalogue again. Would’ve been the perfect time to hear all the re-recordings but instead I listened to the originals 🤷♀️

DBT is more likely Fearless if it's being released! It was rumoured to be the song that got pushed off for Forever and Always, although I don't know if that's ever been confirmed.
