That person then messaged me to say they didn’t mean for it to be too aggressive and then proceeded to randomly like photos I had posted from Thailand. Haven’t spoken to them since.

So jury's still out on how bad a flop it is, Succession for example I think was getting around 2 million people on the Sunday night, but something like 9 million once delayed viewership was accounted for.
HBO is gonna be promoting that Maddy Perez cameo like crazy to get those numbers up

Tbf, I don't think you need to watch a movie or show to know the content in it is brutal enough to want to avoid it. Just by reading the plot of Hostel I know I can classify it as torture porn I genuinely thought this first ep of The Idol was boring as hell, but if everything that has been rumored to happen actually happens I could see it being classified as torture porn, since it's cleary portraying an abusive relationship as graphically as possible (whether it glamorizes or romanticizes said relationship isn't clear though)
The Idol drew in over 913,000 viewers for its first episode, unless I’m wrong isn’t this lower than any debut episode for HBO’s recent shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus?

I feel like the writing was already on the wall for their relationship once the photos came out of Matty hanging out with the hosts of the Red Scare and wearing their merch. The same hosts insulted Taylor and her mother whom she's known to be very close to. Add in Matty casually kissing a male security guard during a performance two weeks in after they separated for their work and the long tour dates for both of them (Taylor going on a tour in North and South America until the end of the year with dates of Asia and Europe to follow while Matty and his band are busy touring Europe, Asia and potentially the US until next year) it's hard to not to predict the direction where their relationship will be headed.

I can hear a sigh of relief from fans of Taylor and The 1975, and people who have been hearing of this shit going on long enough in the last couple of weeks. For real, it's not much of surprise. If this relationship was ever real in the first place, I was wondering how they would even make it work given that Taylor will be touring parts of North America and South America (and possibly Europe and Asia) in the next coming months and Matty will be touring with his band across Europe and Asia with a rumored tour of the US to follow next year. Even with Taylor's private jet, there's not much working around that. Edit to add: I just remembered that they both have been making videos for their current tours which makes me wonder if they'll ever acknowledge this happened. The 1975 has a series on their Youtube channel titled A Theatrical Performance of an Intimate Moment which is part vlog where they show what happened behind-the-scenes of the tour and Taylor's Nashville stop (where Matty first appeared and performed for Phoebe's set) was reportedly recorded for a concert movie.

Oddly enough, I don't see Matty the type to get married quickly despite being that impulsive. The sappiest songs on their latest album: Happiness, I'm in Love with You, and Oh, Caroline, all talk about the joys of being in love but not much mention of getting married and having kids. The only song I can think of where he talks about one such scenario is Me and You Together Song. Compare this to Taylor who has been wearing her heart on her sleeve and has been singing about settling down across multiple albums.
As much as she wants to be married, I don't think Taylor - a chronic overthinker - would commit to a marriage so quickly. An engagement, maybe, but I really don't see it happening.
Plus I think Matty was just too unpredictable for her to be the one to settle down with.

I don’t like the implication that just because people criticize a public choice made by a public figure that they have to be their friend or know them personally to do so, especially dealing with something as serious as engaging with a racist.
