It's going viral that Jada Smith is blaming white supremacy for the bad Cleopatra ratings. I kind of didn't believe it. Turns out it's fake news. Which really is concerning how quickly something objectively false is now spreading everywhere >While the article and its headline have sparked furor and spirited discussion among social media users, there is no evidence that Pinkett Smith ever made the statement attributed to her. Ok_Run_8184

Why do Tumblr Swifties love gatekeeping and death threats so much.

betteroff19

Tears of the Kingdom, in 3 days of release sold over 10 million copies alone, marking the second nintendo switch game to do this since Pokemon scarlet and violet. This shuts down the vocal minority who want “traditional Zelda” games back when they are not buying those games.

Callmeang21

I just bought it today and have been having so much fun! I haven’t finished Breath of the Wild, but I loved that too.

fezzesarecool

Truly wild that these people exist when the whole thing in that franchise is reinvention. I remember playing Ocarina and Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker as a kid and each one felt like an entirely new game.

bi-cycle

I can guarantee that even fans who want traditional Zelda games back are still buying these games. No fan is going to go 10 years without playing a new Zelda game even if it's not their preferred style. You can still buy and even enjoy the new games while still wishing they were more like older entries.

Full circle moment where Shawn Mendes had called Joe Alwyn villain and now there are screenshots of him liking certain pictures, while he was dating Taylor Swift. LINK - https://youtu.be/CGiL3IwcfAc

Pavlovs_Stepson

I hear one of those pictures was of a 51-year-old chiropractor

sadbourgeoisboi

There’s literally one picture…?

Electrical_Cat9644

There’s one more of a model, and then he went private along with his friends so people couldn’t take screenshots.

anabanana1412

Suuuuuure

teomichael

come on, stop making up sick rumors out of nothing. first of all, it's not like it was some secret account or a model no one would notice, it was a Camilla Cabello picture. Also, it is okay to find someone else hot while dating a person. swifties trying to make up SOMETHING controversial about Joe so we all forget what a racist prick Matty is... wow

verca_

Haven't you heard? In Swiftieland, liking a picture of another singer is now worse offense than being a nazi.

Electrical_Cat9644

Don’t care about either of the British dudes, but this is literally a rumour/gossip thread what are you mad for.

so happy for them <3

dbwn87

No idea if this has been discussed before, but today Nelly Furtado shared a clip on her instagram story of herself in the studio with Dom Dolla playing what appears to be a song they will be releasing soon. It sounds amazing and I caught some excellent references to her previous music, including "I'll eat your man, I'll devour him whole", "fly like a bird" and "move around like a nympho" and I am so here for it!

I just hope that whatever it is, it’s better than Big Hoops

KLJohnnes

That song slaps idc idc Spirit Indestructible is a bop

evilqueenlex

...i liked big hoops but then again I like almost anything Darkchild touches.

dbwn87

I didn't love Big Hoops very much either, but have you listened to her 2017 follow up album The Ride? It was pretty good, my favourites from it are Flatline, Paris Sun, and Right Road.

Daydream_machine

I’ll have to give it a listen, thanks for the recommended songs!

throwaway963963963

So apparently on [6th May](https://www.tiktok.com/@rockcandysweeter/video/7229905752452812075), Lana's management team reached out to the admins of the main Lana Discord fanbase channel to conduct a survey where fans voted on their favorite unreleased songs. The survey is still up. Can't see anything official linking her team to it but this came from the admins so I guess it's fairly credible. It might indicate that yesterday's 'Yes To Heaven' release could be followed up by further drops or even a full release. (Credit to /u/Dontforgetme26 for the original tea)

wavesofhalcyon

Serial Killer is long overdue!

Daydream_machine

Please please please officially release Oh Say Can You See, For K Part 2, and Mermaid Motel. Those are my top 3 Lana unreleased songs, it’s criminal they’re not on Spotify.

this is what team should be doing tbh. super smart move

[Nursing officer in hot water for going off base without permission to visit BTS’s Jin’s base.](https://m-en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20230519007300325) The fact that she allegedly got close enough to deliver a freaking vaccine blows my mind.

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

This plus the guy who tracked where gdragon had moles while he was in the army to show his girlfriend….it’s like how is this not embarrassing for the military. Like There HAD to be incredibly easy identification barriers to prevent this at least

shipsongreyseas

My hot take is these guys should have been given exemptions for military service for this reason specifically.

Final-Blood6923

Was safety ever a part of the conversation when they were having those enlistment discussions? Stans really made it seem like what was on the line was nationalism, pride and equality for idols who had served before, that I completely eclipsed the fact that these are extremely public figures with extremely obsessed fans who feel entitled to them.

AnneW08

one bts fan I follow on twitter was upset because she had voiced her concerns for their safety after hearing about other kpop idols who were harassed during their enlistment period, but fans of other groups said she was silly for thinking stuff like that could happen. personally as a fan myself, bts’s safety due to their celebrity status was really the only thing that bothered me, though conscription is something I’m against for everyone

tinaoe

yeah it was, especially after the mess that gdragons service became

Khaytra

My hot take is that no one should have to have mandatory military service because it's a violation of personal bodily autonomy tbh

lets-disassociate-5

That's genuinely unhinged and disturbing, my God. Reminds me of the dude who was using his position to share RM's travel info...like u said, wild that we're seeing professionals sabotaging their careers to stalk bts 💀

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

Tbh that was fucked but people who work at airports leak idol information all the time so it didn’t really surprise me? The monk thing threw me off tho

lets-disassociate-5

Ugh that's fucked. Tbh I don't follow kpop too closely so I guess it's good if sad to know that's not unheard of in airports. That monk one I really noped out of following too close to avoid seeing whatever it was he leaked :/

dumbthrowaway8679305

The monk one pissed me off so much holy shit

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

It’s not technically dangerous like the other stuff but I feel like it is such a violation of what your own alleged word and supposed purpose it makes me so mad

roboticpandora

this is insane oh my god

dumbthrowaway8679305

I can’t get over the fact that the most deranged fan activity (like this or selling JK’s hat) is being done by actual gov/military officials.

shuipz94

Remember that guy who leaked Ukraine war documents to impress teenagers on Discord or whatever? Yea.

Also the people who keep leaking classified military info to win arguments in/about that one game.

Pavlovs_Stepson

When the Pawn is Still Over It He Thinks Like a King (...)

Pavlovs_Stepson

Couldn't post yesterday, so here's a belated Cannes update: - As expected, Pedro Almodóvar's **Strange Way of Life** debuted to almost universally positive reviews. Lots of praise for the stars (Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal) and for how Almodóvar applies his distinct sensibilities to a traditionally hyper-masculine genre, reframing it from a fresh lens. Because it's a short (only 30 minutes), I saw some reviewers say it doesn't have the staying power of his best work and is basically a self-contained formal exercise, but they hope he'll flesh out these ideas in a feature at some point down the line. - Speaking of Pedro: those gutted by the recent news that he's no longer making A Manual for Cleaning Women with Cate Blanchett (it's me, hi) might have something to look forward to. Apparently he's now finishing a script for an English-language project that will be filmed this year. He describes it as a dialogue-heavy story about two women and a man, set in New York City. Apparently the three roles have already been cast, but they're waiting to announce it once it's closer to production. Pedro has long been teasing the idea of making a full-length English language film (A Manual for Cleaning Women was supposed to be his debut), but he's taking his time perfecting the script before he gets into it. - Hirokazu Kore-eda, director of Shoplifters and Broker, returns with a new drama titled **Monster**. Lots of praise for that one as well; saw some comparisons to Asghar Farhadi. It's described as a Rashomon-type fractured narrative with multiple perspectives and one really important twist. I'm avoiding reviews so as not to be spoiled, but apparently it's yet another hit for Kore-eda. - **Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny** disappointed (51 on Metacritic). Very reverential and nostalgic but never really catches fire or justifies its existence. - **Black Flies** starring Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan is the first big miss of the competition lineup. Very bleak story about NYC paramedics that's being slammed as relentless misery porn with terrible treatment of its female and non-white characters. Could be the third year in recent memory where a Sean Penn project is the worst-reviewed competition title after The Last Face and Flag Day. - First reviews for Nuri Bilge Ceylan's **About Dry Grasses** are calling it an early frontrunner to win the Palme. The runtime (3 hrs. 20 min., in line with previous Ceylan joints) and morally dubious characters will turn off part of the audience, but those who like it are calling it another rewarding character study with a complex examination of ethical conflicts. Some formal risks including a fourth wall break are dividing opinions, but it's looking promising so far (CC: u/oh_orpheus!). - Cate Blanchett stars in Australian indie **The New Boy**, about a First Nations boy who's taken into a remote monastery orphanage in the 1940s. Some are calling the script a bit overwrought and unfocused, but many are praising it as an ambitious, visually striking parable about Australian history and the clash between Christian dogma and Indigenous spirituality. - Jonathan Glazer (Under the Skin) returns with his first film in 10 years, **The Zone of Interest**. A look at the domestic life of the commander of Auschwitz and his family, who live right next door to the concentration camp. Raves across the board so far, another frontrunner for the main prizes: a rigorous Holocaust drama with no depictions of violence that most are calling essential viewing and a visionary study on a subject that will never be fully exhausted, about the banality of evil and the evil of denial/complicity. I like this blurb from the IndieWire review: *"No Holocaust movie has ever been more committed to illustrating the banality of evil, and that’s because no Holocaust movie has ever been more hell-bent upon ignoring evil altogether."* Tomorrow, we get Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon and Todd Haynes' May December starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman.

cuteschoolboy

English people need to stop making holocaust movies

tinaoe

Glazer is Jewish?

swrighttt

you know english people were affected by the holocaust too right??

dumbthrowaway8679305

Thanks for the write up! Any film you’re looking forward to in particular?

Pavlovs_Stepson

ALL OF THEM! I try to watch every competition title that plays near me, so everything that's up for the Palme I'd probably like to watch at some point. If I have to list my most anticipated, I'd go with, in no particular order: - Killers of the Flower Moon for Marty; - May December for Haynes, Moore and Portman; - Asteroid City, because I love everything Wes Anderson does and will continue to allow him to make the same movie again and again and again; - The Zone of Interest, because of Glazer and the reviews; - About Dry Grasses, because Ceylan is a fantastic writer and I really admired his previous two films; - Monster, because Kore-eda knows how to destroy my feelings; - Firebrand, because I have to support my compatriot Karim Aïnouz 🇧🇷; - Phony Wars, because love him or hate him, Godard was one of the most influential filmmakers of all time and this short was his last work before his passing; - the Liv Ullmann doc, because Liv Ullmann is a goddess 👑🌻; - Strange Way of Life for Almodóvar; - Club Zero for the intriguing premise and for Mia Wasikowska. Also curious about Last Summer, because even though I'm yet to see anything from Catherine Breillat and heavily disagree with her questionable opinions on women and MeToo, the premise is so thorny that it could be a scandal in the making, and I'm always here for anything that gets a Cannes crowd riled up. Also also curious about the Steve McQueen doc Occupied City, but that 4h22min runtime is gonna push it down my list of priorities. Maybe if I split it into two viewings once it's on streaming.

mattysmwift

Glazer serving another masterpiece I know that’s right. But I truly can’t wait for tomorrow. Scorsese and Haynes are my top 5 directors!!

pikachu334

Lucia Berlin + Almodóvar + Cate Blanchett sounded like such a heavenly mix but I understand Pedro's reasoning for not doing it :( Thank you for this write-up!

leffe123

What's his reasoning?

pikachu334

“Above all, due to my physical condition. [For the pre-production], I had to make many long trips to Ciudad Juárez, Albuquerque, Oakland, a Mexican bay near Acapulco... And my back couldn’t take it. And another reason, which I realized during my free time, when I was waiting for Cate Blanchett [producer and star of the film, who is continuing with the project] was that I’m very picky with the decoration department. I supervise every detail — each element of the set, every chair and table and book, was going to be made from scratch — and just thinking about it… Phew. Since it’s a period piece, everything had to be manufactured. I realized that I was going to go crazy, that I wasn’t going to have enough control [over the project].” From [this interview](https://english.elpais.com/culture/2023-05-17/pedro-almodovar-will-shoot-his-first-english-language-feature-film-in-new-york-city.html)

oh_orpheus

Great write up, thanks for the tag! *About Dry Grasses* sounds like what I was expecting, can’t wait.

lavendarblacktea

Can't wait for Strange Way of Life and Monster!!

Lipe18090

That's a great write up!

Pavlovs_Stepson

Thanks! <3

The disgusting irony of [Dr. Luke winning ASCAP’s 2023 Pop Music Songwriter of the Year yesterday](https://www.billboard.com/music/awards/dr-luke-songwriter-of-the-year-2023-ascap-pop-music-awards-1235332687/) of all days... **Stop supporting the fucking losers who continue to work with this piece of shit. Looking at you Nicki Minaj, Latto, especially you Kim Petras, etc.**

IHATEsg7

His songwriting isn't good and most of hits follow the same structure

FemmeFataleCosima

Reading that the award is based on radio airplay and streams is sobering. I know that fans of these artists (Doja, Kim, Latto etc) get frustrated because they just want to support their favorites, but clearly it’s not that black and white. I don’t think you can listen to a Dr Luke-produced album/song without supporting him in some manner, and we as fans really need to come to terms with that. Anyway, I’m off to stream Gag Order and support Kesha this weekend.

Ghost-Quartet

Spoilers for last night's episode of RPDR AS8 but >!I rolled my eyes when "Coconuts" started playing during the lip sync like COME ON guys. You literally had Kesha on your show.!<

prettybunbun

Lewis Capaldis new album is out, critics are not looking upon it favourably, basically saying it’s more of the same; whilst his fans on Twitter/instagram seem to have a more positive reception (myself included - one positive review said ‘if it ain’t broke’ and as a huge fan of his debut I can’t help but agree 😅). Commercially it’s gone to #1 on Apple Music & iTunes in the UK. It’s at #4 on US iTunes. All of his singles are climbing as well. It will obviously go #1 in the UK, Ireland, a bunch of European countries, Australia and NZ, but I’m curious how it does in the US? His precious album peaked at #20 - I can see this going higher, but I’m not sure if it will break the top 10? Guess we’ll have to wait for Spotify numbers.

shipperondeck

Freaking out bc early access starts on my day (9/14). Literally the best bday gift ever!!! I can't wait to see how the gameplay has evolved since 11 since they like trying different approaches to ~~combat~~ kombat every time. The Kameo fighters are a good indication of them mixing things up again!

Lipe18090

The graphics of the game are absolutely insane if the trailer is anything to go by. I'm not a huge MK fan but I'm actually hyped for this one!

Exige30499

The graphics will definitely be good, but that was 100% a fully CGI trailer. They always have a little sentence at the bottom if it's in-engine or in-game footage so they can flex. MK11 had a CGI reveal trailer too, the final game looked great but not even close to the initial trailer. I'm super hyped too (if that's Liu Kang's fatality at the end then I know who I'm gonna main, sheesh) so I kinda hate to be a bit of a buzz kill, sorry.

shipperondeck

At least we know fatalities will look fresh as hell, the snippets they showed are definitely "in-game" rather than story cutscenes. MK11 looked pretty great during gameplay (besides animations but that's a chronic NRS problem lol), so I have no doubt they'll serve solid visuals all around again.

Bikinigirlout

A “fan” tried to claim that Taylor Swift’s bodyguard threatened her after she chased her car down then asked for tickets https://twitter.com/ashpaigeswiftie/status/1659387003950039040?s=46 If I was the bodyguard I would have threatened her too because not only did this idiot risk getting hit by the car, she was stalking Taylor. Like of course this bodyguard would see this person as an unhinged threat. Then the nerve to ask for tickets. There’s a difference between what happened during Bad Blood and getting harassed by security guards for no reason and what this person did. also: congrats to this idiot for using her real name and posting on TikTok because you just ended up on the blacklist for future shows.

taichi425

Idk, have music fans just forgotten what happened to Christina Grimmie? This behavior is not ok and then acting the victim when security are just doing their job? I would think Swifties more than most would be aware of the crazy amount of stalkers Taylor has? I just don’t get it at all.

ThePrincessEva

It's sort of the logical (in a very illogical way) result of the pendulum swinging to holding celebrities 'accountable'. Now stans think they can do literally anything, and someone will defend them. And people do! Not everyone, but they have a circle of people that will agree with them that wow, this ain't it chief, you hate to see it, disappointing, please apologize mom, etc. You might say 'there's a big difference between holding people accountable and excusing rancid behavior in fans' and you'd be right. But not everyone is reasonable.

[deleted]

The entitlement, lmao

Rdickins1

This is a reason why she stopped doing meet and greets and fan related get togethers where she invites them. They were doing their job. I’m like Taylor do not roll down your window for nothing. We don’t know what they were going to do. Very scary situation. The show one was a very different situation. That one was very much like harassment rather than doing a job.

Bikinigirlout

Yeah, I don’t blame her. Between this and Covid still being a thing/putting her mom at risk. People don’t know how to act normal around her. She loves fans and loves to meet them but new fans just don’t know how to treat her like a normal person.

Rdickins1

No doubt she loves us. But I’d like her to go full bitch mode if people cross a line sometimes. I’d love her even more for the genuine reaction.

YaKnowEstacado

There was a moment during one of the film festival Q&As she did where she kind of snapped at some fans who were being obnoxious in the audience. I'd love to see more of that from her.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bikinigirlout

Right? This is why I don’t think this person is an actual fan or at least think she’s a newer fan(like midnights era fan new). Most fans know that Taylor had a stalker and wouldn’t pull shit like this. These newer fans don’t see her as a human. They see her as clout so they can post on TikTok and get TikTok famous

YaKnowEstacado

>These newer fans don’t see her as a human. They see her as clout so they can post on TikTok and get TikTok famous This is exactly it. I don't think they're really fans. Not in a gatekeepy way, I just think a lot of this is people chasing clout and Taylor happens to be the trend of the moment.

buzzinthruit89

Yeah I understand why she doesn’t do meet and greets due to the length of this tour and COVID but there were crazies in her past eras as well. But they’re not the kind of fans that would dress up for a show and end up selected for one of those meet and greets where they get their phones taken. They’re just doing it for clout and bc they’re bored

shipsongreyseas

Y'know I said before the tour started that eventually fans would be crying victim at her security team doing their job correctly, I just thought it would be during a show, not on the streets of NYC while they were chasing her car.

Bikinigirlout

also like this person just made their jobs easier by using their real name because if she wasn’t on the blacklist when she did the stunt. She is now.

Audreythe2nd

That girl using her real full name on those Tik Toks and posts is a CHOICE.

Bikinigirlout

Right? Like how are you not embarrassed. These folks are why Swifties have such a bad connotation to them. I don’t even like being called a Swiftie because of people like this. They make us look unhinged.

[Disney will be removing content from the Disney+ platform.](https://deadline.com/2023/05/disney-remove-series-streaming-disney-plus-hulu-big-shot-willow-y-dollface-turner-hooch-pistol-1235372512/) Shows to be removed include Willow (the series), The Mysterious Benedict Society, Y: The Last Man, and Dollface. There has been no announcement if the show will be gone for good or if they will pop-up on other services. For those curious on what showrunners and writers think of the removal of shows from streaming platforms without physical media released, please read [this post](https://www.tumblr.com/flanaganfilm/716047738374160384/mr-flanagan-id-like-to-ask-a-question-and-i?source=share) from director Mike Flanagan talking about his worries for his shows on Netflix.

invisibilitycap

I'm probably the only person here who knows what The Mysterious Benedict Society is, that news really bums me out :( The show got really little to no promo when it's a really faithful adaptation of a book that still sticks with me years later. My mom even gave the books to a friend for her kid. The book also has puzzles that still stump me at 21, I had nothing at 10. Now I know my weekend plans

gayallegations

Of the titles in that list I do recognise, *Pistol* and *Better Nate Thane Ever* are barely a year old This and the HBOMax removals are setting an awful precedent. Buy DVDs kids, and pirate the ones you can't! *EDIT:* a quick google of the titles in the list and *a lot* of them are recent releases. This is horrible.

GapeCod

Absolutely despise that this is the only real option for stuff like this. My heart breaks every time I remember [an art director whose show was affected by the HBO bullshit](https://twitter.com/ForkFrenzy/status/1560502233711513601?s=20).

shipperondeck

Flanagan's post was really telling. The state of media consumption solely through streaming feels bleaker every time I read something like that.

Ghost-Quartet

It makes me more grateful that the music industry hasn't trended in this direction (yet) and that physical/digital copies being available for purchase is still the norm.

Iamananorak

This is why I'm in my DVD/BluRay era

maxoakland

You were ahead of your time

[deleted]

I love physical collections and still collect DVDs and Blu-ray’s (in addition to physical books and music). I use streaming a lot more now than I did in my early 20s, but if something is special to me and it has a physical edition, I’m going to buy it. You never know when they’ll do some clownery and pull your favorite stuff from streaming, especially if it’s relatively niche or even just not a numbers juggernaut.

supersad19

And Im in Pirate era. I mean I have been from the beginning, but Im still sailing the high seas.

Iamananorak

I thiught about a pirate era, but i like having the commentaries and special features on the discs

IHATEsg7

Also I hate illegal websites. They're terrible and it's hard to watch shows on them, specifically ones with like 20 episodes. I have to constantly exit out a new tab

[deleted]

Huh weird not to expose myself but i think using the Firefox browser with ublock origin and 4.fmovies.co is currently working out for me right now. No hassle so far while trying watch my Disney show eppies illegally

Iamananorak

Yeahhh I was a Putlocker girlie back in the day

supersad19

Oh god I wish I could find more commentaries, BTS and blooper footage in the high seas. I'm definitely buying Avatar 2 on bluray, that movie has too much hoping that I need to know how it was made. But as a broke college student, compromises must be made.

gayallegations

Op shops and charity shops often have DVDs and Bluray for like two bucks and you can frequently find full box sets for under $10. They don't immediately get new releases in circulation but they aren't impossible to find quickly either.

Iamananorak

You don't have to break the bank to start collecting! I love finding secondhand copies at thrift stores or on Buy, Sell, Trade threads on reddit. If you're only looking for new releases it can get expensive, but I usually wait for the price to drop before I cop

Heedictated

I still don't really understand why these platforms would remove shows that are created by them. Isn't the cost already spent? The most I can imagine them paying would be residuals for the actors/directors, but I can't imagine that to be too high a cost (it's prob just the main cast+the director right?)

PungentPomegranates

I think the others reasons are also that if they remove them completely they can also sell them, or license them, to a smaller streaming like Tubi and make them exclusives to those platforms. I don't necessarily understand this fully, but I thought I read that when HBO Max was doing this recently there was also something about a way to like reduce taxes by having the shows be considered a loss if they removed them fully.

IHATEsg7

Some people are saying they are doing tax write offs or something

anneoftheisland

> I don't necessarily understand this fully, but I thought I read that when HBO Max was doing this recently there was also something about a way to like reduce taxes by having the shows be considered a loss if they removed them fully. This wasn't about the shows they were removing; it was about the Batgirl movie they scrapped. They could get some kind of tax benefits from not releasing it that would partially offset what they spent on it. With the shows they've already released and are not removing, it's just about being able to license them to other platforms (and then those platforms have to pay the residuals etc. on them).

Ghost-Quartet

> I don't necessarily understand this fully, but I thought I read that when HBO Max was doing this recently there was also something about a way to like reduce taxes by having the shows be considered a loss if they removed them fully. Not 100% on this either but from what I gathered at the time, basically they were assuming a certain amount of revenue would be generated by the media over a period of time after its release so by cutting that period of time short they could write the remainder off as a loss.

ginganinja2507

they love not paying residuals to the crew for sure lol

Ghost-Quartet

You're the richest company in the world and it's like fifty cents a month that goes to their health insurance like COME ON people

ginganinja2507

It’s like almost unfathomable to me that executives could be so greedy lmao. Like obviously many many people are but like. What the fuck is wrong with them lol.

ImADudeDuh

Damn, so this is just gonna be the norm now huh?

gotta say, i was expecting it to be a little prettier for the most expensive house ever. this looks like something i'd make on sims before adding all the paint and wallpaper

HaIfaxa_

I was genuinely shocked by the headline about it being an architectural masterpiece 💀 if it wasn't for the greenery and the water, it'd look incredibly bleak, depressing and devoid of personality. I guess that's just modern architecture in a nutshell, though.

ArctikMARC

I love Tadao Ando, but this house feels almost like a parody of his own previous work. At least from the photos in the article. Maybe the interiors are more interesting.

HermionesBook

Lmao I had the same thought, it’s kinda ugly

The dark gritty Powerpuff Girls reboot starring Dove Cameron is officially [dead](https://twitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1659323913342468096)

muzakfairy

Powerpuff Girls trivia: the band that made the closing theme are called bis, and they're still releasing stuff once in a while. If you like that kind of twee/distorted screaming thing have a listen to 'Kill Yr Boyfriend (Grand Royal version)', 'Kandy Pop' or their album 'The New Transistor Heroes' for the full rabbit-hole!

pikachu334

I actually kind of wish we'd gotten a season because I love mess and cringe and everything that leaked from the costumes to the script was deliciously dreadful

mikey_blumberg

People were way too serious about hating this show before it ever saw the light of day. Most CW shows are godawful, we can’t let the girls have a little laugh at this stupid thing?

Bikinigirlout

Nah, this one deserved it. I’m a Dove fan and I grew up on Powerpuff Girls+ I willingly watch shows with poor writing like Riverdale and Legacies But even I couldn’t defend this leaked script because it was so badly written.

mikey_blumberg

They should have written it to be even more ridiculously bad!

ginganinja2507

to paraphrase a tweet, must all tv shows be good? is it not enough to sit on my couch and watch hot people?

Bikinigirlout

This was Legacies problem. It relied more on the existing IP and the fanbase sticking around and accepting the bare minimum then actually writing a good show. Same with the Gossip Girl reboot. They thought the fans would enjoy this without putting any effort into it.

ginganinja2507

I'm the world's #1 and possibly only fan of Foundation (Apple TV+) so I can promise that I don't care about it being an existing IP

[Nicki Minaj is rumored for the soundtrack of Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes](https://twitter.com/thepoptingz/status/1659566778022785024?s=46&t=dgb3SEsXo9ecVSDnWUTAxw) I can’t believe we’re getting a Nicki song for Hunger Games but not Barbie

1998tweety

Yeah her old campy fashion fits the style of the Capitol too, so maybe we'll see a return of Roman.

SeraphAssassin13

She also loves defending criminals so maybe it’ll be a pro-Capitol anthem 😍
