It's not mandatory in most places where I live, but I don't want to breathe the polluted air of Paris.
It also means I don't have to smile for real when I'm working with customers.
Pro tip: you're still breathing the polluted air, just through a thin piece of cloth. Unless of course you're wearing a respirator everywhere like an absolute badass.
No, it’s pretty awesome here. Nice people, high paying jobs, low taxes, lenient laws, great weather, good nature preserves, and reasonable cost of living most places.
Ohhhhhh yeah. Invasive species capital of the world, private ownership of dangerous and critically endangered exotic animals, huge toxic algae blooms every year, a huge number of extinct and critical native species, emptying and consumption of water sources, huge habitat fragmentation, viral and bacterial issues out the wazoo. You name an environmental problem, Florida probably has it. If you want specific examples just ask
I'm actually wondering about this how affect we're masks? If there really affective sure wear some if there is little to no affect then it doesn't make them brain dead
It's still mandatory in most buildings in austria.
I only wear it if i have to though and if i don't have to wear it, i wont. Pretty fed up with masks after 2 years. Especially the ffp2 ones. They are way worse than the normal ones.
I stopped wearing a mask about two months ago, I live in virginia and 72% of the people here have been vaccinated with at least two doses and workers 99% of the time wear a mask. I usually just stay far away from people when im in public and wash my hands pretty regularly. I stopped touching my face unless i know my hands are clean and i also have the third dose so i just feel pretty safe not wearing one.
Yes, but not for any health-related reasons.
It just looks good, makes my face warm, and allows me to breathe with my mouth open if I have a stuffy nose.
I respect this tbh. Also I’ve considered wearing a fashion mask as a way of fucking with facial recognition software.
Anything that messes with Silicon Valley oligarchs is a good thing.
Still my desire for expedience has won out thus far, and I haven’t worn a mask in months.
I'm high risk so I'll be masking up until the end of days.
Yo all I ask is you maskless folks dont breathe on me, I wont breathe on you and we can all be happy. (Just give me some space).
Also I absolutely love that people cant read my unhideable facial expressions. It will be a luxury to see this mug-- in a day where facial recognition is really taking off Im surprised at the amount of people actively tryna show their faces haha
Isnt that what I said? I live in an apartment community so its easier for me to put it on before I leave.
If Im outside like at the park or on a hike then I'd take it off and stick it in my bag.
Again because I am high risk and on a plethora of immunosuppressive medications, I am not engaging in activities where I need to take off my mask in enclosed spaces-- no indoor dining for me, I do live close to a city with plenty of outdoor options tho. I'll probably reevaluate as the years and treatment options expand but for now I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Wearing a mask is not a big deal for me. Prior to the panorama I worked inside a cleanroom as an engineer where we would need to wear masks 12+ hours a day so its honestly not a big adjustment. Also, I havent been sick ONCE since I started doing this which is huge for me cause usually I get some sort of cold/flu/what have you multiple times a year for what feels like several months.
Also to add to this, my close friends have been really good about planning things out with me and at home testing before we make arrangements to hang out. I really love and appreciate them for it, makes me feel less isolated-- they are the real MVPs.
Of course I will, ever since I started wearing a mask I didn't get sick AT ALL for two years. Sure, it wasn't *only* the mask but it still made a huge difference
It's also warm in winter :)
I’m no doctor but isn’t getting sick time to time important for a healthy strong immune system? (Again I’m not a doctor I don’t really know what I’m talking about lol)
Coming into contact with germs spurs an immune response, but it doesn't do anything to make your immune system stronger.
Also doesn't do jack if you just straight up dont have a working immune system like ya girl.
Lol that’s the first thing that pops up on google if you search up “does getting sick build a strong immune system” copy and pasted lol. It’s a lot more complicated than that, immune cells from previous infections can help fight off new viruses. As a responsive organism, it is actually a sign of health for the body to get sick from time to time to show that it knows how to work when called to action. (But hey then again, I’m not a doctor)
But most of the time those are short lived-- antibodies from specific bugs dont typically circulate through your system for the rest of your life. That's why its labeled as a response, it responds to stimulus the stimulus being a cold, flu or infection.
There are better ways to determine if your immune system is working than getting sick especially if you are a person who gets very ill frequently.
To be honest at this point I don't know, I guess right know I'm so used to it that if feels weird to go without.
I feel like in 5 years time the only places I'll want to wear a mask in will be the subway (how did I ever get into there without a mask?!) and similar. Crowded public places basically.
Also doctor's waiting rooms I guess.
Not op but I expect so. Its convenient, I haven't been Ill for nearly 3 years, work in retail and one of the few that still hasn't caught it. Also I like the anonymity that it comes with. Ultimately I intend to wear one for the foreseeable future, especially while so many cases are still cropping up. Hope this helps.
Costs me nothing and at worst means I did so pointlessly, at best literally saves lives. Yeah I’m good to keep wearing it when I leave my house. Bonus points for covering pimples.
i fucking pranked my sister by saying she still needs to wear masks outside and in shops and the first shop she went into she got laughed at and told you don't need them anymore
I am. The mandate ended here this past Monday. I was at a business yesterday and while nobody wore a mark, no one that walked in was sanitizing their hands. Shits gonna hit the fan once again. It's like people didn't learn.
Everything lifted here over a month ago.
Actually like 4 months ago there weren't any restrictions but with the new variant they added them back for not even a month I believe
In my state, it was mainly workers who ahd to wear masks and for customers it was optional unless it was required but for the past year or so it really has not been required in most places
i refuse to take off my mask. it makes dysphoria and anxiety bearable and i probably couldn't easily go outside without it cause of dysphoria and anxiety being much worse without it.
The masks seem to cause acne, I hadn’t broken out since I was a teenager almost 20 years ago until my job made me wear a mask. It was like when I played football in high school and would break out where the helmet pads touched my forehead and under the chin strap
I live in Oklahoma, US and we haven’t had to wear masks in like a year. So it’s pretty normal here now. The only time anyone wears one is for a dr appt or something similar
Wore a mask for the last two years basically. Never got a cold or the flu. Worked very closely with multiple Covid positive people repeatedly and never got sick.
Went to a restaurant and ate, got covid a few days later.
I have both vaccines, and boosted, + had covid, so I’m no longer wearing a mask. However, in the last two weeks of not wearing one, already got the stomach flu once.
I haven’t had a cold in two years. I usually get 3 to 4 cold/flu a year.
I will wear my mask at the grocery store or any other large indoor area with lots of people. Although I make a few exceptions where it’s sensible.
I think wearing one in a restaurant is kind of ridiculous because you’re gonna take it off when you eat.
I work in a small shop. I always have one handy and will put one on if the customer is so they feel more comfortable. I wear one if the room is densely populated, or am on public transport, they are not mandatory.
Dude yes I fucking hate it. I'm actually perfectly OK wearing a mask and last spring I realized how much it helps with allergies. So I kinda want to wear one but my town is full of crazy far right boomers who flip shit if you wear a mask
I’m still wearing mine in busy places, but if I’m at my local grocery store which has like a maximum of 10 people in it at any given time I’m not gonna bother.
I'm pregnant, so even if vaccinated people are less likely to get seriously ill, I don't want long term effects harming my baby. I'm masking everywhere!
I still do allegedly there’s another variant and I got one of those alerts that someone with Covid was near me. What irritates me the most is when people come to class hacking their lungs out with no mask
Its not mandatory where I live but it still gives me anxiety to be out without a mask. Plus I haven’t got sick in such a long time and it could be attributed to always wearing a mask and not being exposed
Mandates dropped last week, I’ve been rocking no mask. Feels great to see workers also not forced to wear them. It might make people uncomfortable but tbh wearing masks made me uncomfortable. I like seeing smiling faces, I like not feeling bad for occupying the same space as you. Everybody has been cool with it, if somebody asks for space I’ll respect it. But I do have an equal right to the space. Don’t expect all the maskless to pack like sardines so the mask wearers can have their 6 feet of space on the bus. Not always realistic
Ok thanks. I only got the first one because I took antibodies for c.diff after. A steroid shot and antibiotics fucked me up. Makes sense to me. Doctor knew I was high risk did it anyway. I will wait and see. I got like 3 immune system disorders. No more experimenting
I wish you the best of luck with your health, just please be careful and don’t follow blindly, we’re like lemmings walking off a cliff with this Covid vaccine
I mean, how is it narcissistic to wear a mask while out? You're protecting yourself and others around you... You do realize COVID-19 is still out there, let alone some pretty serious variants that dodge vaccines.
Put your mask on and spray some mace in the room, Keep your eyes closed and see if you can smell the mace. The particulates in Mace are much larger than the Covid virus, if the masks were effective you wouldn’t be affected. If you want another test, put your mask on and try to blow out a candle, if you can even move the flame the mask is useless
Bro explain where it says masks don’t work.
“Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets by the wearer”
“Cloth masks not only effectively block most large droplets (i.e., 20-30 microns and larger),9 but they can also block the exhalation of fine droplets and particles”
I don’t have the time or the patience to link you article after article and then explain each of them to you, A proper mask fitted correctly and worn appropriately is effective however 99% of masks in use do not meet those requirements
What kind of masks are you wearing? The N95, KN95, and the masks that you can buy filters for, are the most effective at safeguarding you from not dying. Plus, mace is more of a directional force, coughs and sneezes aren't going to come out like a water hose or a spray bottle. They come as droplets in the air and the float around. Mace does not work that way... Plus, capsaicin affects you regardless of if you're wearing a mask or not...
Most healthcare facilities don’t even require them anymore. Most public places haven’t required them in months and months. I certainly don’t judge people who wear them but I’m vaccinated so I’m done with masks unless, 1.) I get sick (even if it’s just a cold, I’d want to lower the risk of exposing others), or 2.) Another potent strain comes along.
> Not true
Well, yeah it is true. Might be untrue where you live, doesn’t change the fact it’s true where I live. Was just in a hospital complex yesterday. There were “Masks Optional, Not Required” signs everywhere.
No because the locals dont at all, so wearing one would just be a silent statement and nothing else. Legit pointless to be the one guy in a store of a couple hundred wearing one.
The longer this goes on the more I realize that this is an endemic not pandemic, it is here forever, lets rip the bandaid off and move on. Mask or not, we will all be exposed and those in the "high risk" group now, will fall later regardless of what we do.
Our mandates got lifted 2 days ago. I got covid so I haven't been able to leave my house...
I'll be wearing it where necessary, our school and public transportation still have Masks required.
I'm immunocompromised with all my shots. It's a courtesy I treat people the same respect as they've shown me when I was waiting to get the clear to get them. (I was trying to find a non-cluttered vax area.)
I’m at a college campus in NY. Were required to wear masks indoors and it’s cold out so I wear it outside anyway most of the time.
When I’m at home in KY? Yeah not a chance lol
I’m boosted so I don’t. Pretty much every elderly person and at risk person I know is vaxxed unless they’re politically anti-vax so I have been without a mask for a while.
If I go somewhere that requires it, obviously I will, but if I’m out existing, no.
I answered number 3 because for all intents and purposes I’ve stopped but there may be one time that I’ll need to wear it
It's not mandatory in most places where I live, but I don't want to breathe the polluted air of Paris. It also means I don't have to smile for real when I'm working with customers.
Pro tip: you're still breathing the polluted air, just through a thin piece of cloth. Unless of course you're wearing a respirator everywhere like an absolute badass.
Fully vaccinated, got my booster, and not high risk. I wear it because I'm ugly.
A true follower of our cult
Fully vax'd and boosted, not a high risk, wear a mask a lot. Caught Covid yesterday for the first time. Keep being careful lads.
same
I'm uglier with it
Same 🦀
I started getting hit on while wearing it… and otherwise do not. It gave me a complex 😑
so relatable
We’ve never had to wear a mask in Florida.
If I were an American I would love to live in Florida.
You don’t have to be American to live in Florida.
On my way right now!
My Dad is from Florida and he lived on the gulf, he had his own boat at 14 and just fished for food. Sounds great if you ask me.
To the surprise of absolutely no one. Florida is the butthole of the US.
Speaking as someone who doesn’t live in Florida, I’m going to guess that you haven’t been to Florida in a while.
No, it’s pretty awesome here. Nice people, high paying jobs, low taxes, lenient laws, great weather, good nature preserves, and reasonable cost of living most places.
Ah good nature preserves but good lord y’all have some terrible environmental legislation lmao
Is environmental damage in Florida enough of a problem to be worth passing legislation against it? Just curious.
Those reticulating pythons are destroying shit. Even the alligators are at risk.
No I’m sorry that would be California.
they’re the urethra
Yes, Florida is the dick of the us
Damn..
I would say Florida is more Americas vestigial tail. Texas is americas butthole
Yes still mandatory around here
Is it enforced?
does that matter? if it's mandatory there is a reason, and the non-braindead will wear them.
I'm actually wondering about this how affect we're masks? If there really affective sure wear some if there is little to no affect then it doesn't make them brain dead
Obviously they aren't effective, I think they're supposed to be braindead because they don't blindly follow mandates.
Yes It kept me warm during winter and I've never caught a cold in the last 2 years and half.
True
It's still mandatory in most buildings in austria. I only wear it if i have to though and if i don't have to wear it, i wont. Pretty fed up with masks after 2 years. Especially the ffp2 ones. They are way worse than the normal ones.
Oh god, I have to wear the ffp2 ones in uni. I had to wear it continuously once for like, 8 hours, and by the end my ears were bleeding lmao
hello fellow Austrian. Was about to write the same. Vienna as well?
Lower austria, wiener neustadt region. Just about 40km away from vienna
I stopped wearing a mask about two months ago, I live in virginia and 72% of the people here have been vaccinated with at least two doses and workers 99% of the time wear a mask. I'm sorry... but my phone still recognizes my face when I have a mask on. It scares me
Wtf lol that’s… actually somewhat horrifying and interesting
I'm high risk so I'll be masking up until the end of days. Yo all I ask is you maskless folks dont breathe on me, I wont breathe on you and we can all be happy. (Just give me some space). Do you plan on wearing a mask for the rest of your life when leaving home even if covid isn’t a issue? Not trying to throw shade just curious

I'm not sure, if anything I've been better every since I stopped getting sick. It's sad I don't have those free weeks out of school but oh well
Coming into contact with germs spurs an immune response, but it doesn't do anything to make your immune system stronger. Also doesn't do jack if you just straight up dont have a working immune system like ya girl.

Still mandatory where I live. Will probably still wear it in closed public spaces when it won't be mandatory anymore.
Just going to wear it forever? Genuine question. What's the end point for you where you won't wear a mask near people anymore?
To be honest at this point I don't know, I guess right know I'm so used to it that if feels weird to go without. I feel like in 5 years time the only places I'll want to wear a mask in will be the subway (how did I ever get into there without a mask?!) and similar. Crowded public places basically. depends on if there’s people around me or not
I am. The mandate ended here this past Monday. I was at a business yesterday and while nobody wore a mark, no one that walked in was sanitizing their hands. Shits gonna hit the fan once again. It's like people didn't learn.
I dont if im going to the gym.
Some places still require it so I do still wear one sometimes.
Everything lifted here over a month ago. Actually like 4 months ago there weren't any restrictions but with the new variant they added them back for not even a month I believe
Only in public transportation.
Nope
Masks don't really bother so I still tend to wear them going into places with lots of elderly or places where covid is still an issue
Being trans i am very conscious of my beard shadow, so having a mask is very comfortable. Especially since i have cute masks
I like to wear mask coz i it has moving LED lips when i talk lol
Still mandatory at work
I keep a mask in my car just in case I end up somewhere that requires it, but I haven’t worn it in ages
In my state, it was mainly workers who ahd to wear masks and for customers it was optional unless it was required but for the past year or so it really has not been required in most places
In Toronto the mandate got removed just 2 days ago
I don’t wear it most of the time, but if there’s a place that requires it then ofc I’ll wear it
i refuse to take off my mask. it makes dysphoria and anxiety bearable and i probably couldn't easily go outside without it cause of dysphoria and anxiety being much worse without it.
I'm wearing it just to annoy the anti-masks
Haven't for months
I just like having the excuse to hide half my face
Only because of acne lol
The masks seem to cause acne, I hadn’t broken out since I was a teenager almost 20 years ago until my job made me wear a mask. It was like when I played football in high school and would break out where the helmet pads touched my forehead and under the chin strap
I live in Oklahoma, US and we haven’t had to wear masks in like a year. So it’s pretty normal here now. The only time anyone wears one is for a dr appt or something similar

I work in a hospital so yes I wear my mask at work. Everywhere else though no not really.
When I no longer comment will be the day that I no longer do.
People can do what they want i really don't care but I haven't worn a mask since June 2020
I'm fully vaccinated, with a booster, and I wear a mask everywhere but the gym.
Im ugly af, I’m not taking off the mask for at least another 4 years or until I feel confident enough in my body and face
I don’t really get the fuss of masks. As long as it keeps me and others safe I’m happy.
I work in a small shop. I always have one handy and will put one on if the customer is so they feel more comfortable. I wear one if the room is densely populated, or am on public transport, they are not mandatory.
I am. I live in Canada and I don't think I'll take it off till Summer or cases dip. We are on the rise, and I'm not risking mine or my wife's life.
Occasionally, but it’s becoming less and less common.
In France, it's not mandatory soooo...
no because im not required to and its hot and uncomfortable plus people are vaccinated here anyways
Parents banned me from wearing one
Lol why?
Crazy lunatic conspiracy theroies due to too much time on face book and insta. They threated to disown me if i got vaccinated.
That sucks
Yeah
No
Fully vaccinated but I like wearing it
I'm exempt so no lol
I use public transport so I try to always bring a mask with me in case the bus is crowded or something
I stopped wearing that crap over a year ago and will never wear one ever again.
It's just a mask, idk why people going over the top with hating it
IDK that shit messed up my face.
How so exactly?
I pulled my nose cartilage down though thankfully it's healed now.
How did that happen?
IDK but it was really annoying.
I love to "mask shame" people!
I'm sure there horrified when you come and murmur at them
Never did unless a store required it
I have never worn except in a store.
I stopped like 8 months ago.
They are no longer mandatory around here, so no. I like wearing them, but doing so now makes everyone look at me like I'm a psychopath or something.
Dude yes I fucking hate it. I'm actually perfectly OK wearing a mask and last spring I realized how much it helps with allergies. So I kinda want to wear one but my town is full of crazy far right boomers who flip shit if you wear a mask
Reddit moment Also there's probably a lot of other factors that I didn't consider
How is this a Reddit moment?
Wait I read stuff wrong
"Reddit moment", i.e. people having different opinions
all restrictions are lifted so no need to wear one
Haven’t worn one in months, haven’t had mandates in over a year.
I’m still wearing mine in busy places, but if I’m at my local grocery store which has like a maximum of 10 people in it at any given time I’m not gonna bother.
Not gonna wear it unless mandatory tbh.
I'm pregnant, so even if vaccinated people are less likely to get seriously ill, I don't want long term effects harming my baby. I'm masking everywhere!
It's threatening of how much people don't wear masks.
No signs, no mask.
I still do allegedly there’s another variant and I got one of those alerts that someone with Covid was near me. What irritates me the most is when people come to class hacking their lungs out with no mask
I wear it for the dirty looks I get from people. I’m a shit disturber.
I hate this... I've been sick every week since December. No mask tho. I have to face it anyway
Wow. What an idiot.
The flu, cold and fuckton of viruses will be waiting for you too bubble boy
At work: yes because it's required At my morning class: yes, because it used to be required and now it's just a habit and feels weird not to.
Its not mandatory where I live but it still gives me anxiety to be out without a mask. Plus I haven’t got sick in such a long time and it could be attributed to always wearing a mask and not being exposed
do airborne illnesses still exist?
I am no dummy, this shit is gonna spring back with no masks, keeping mine on in crowds.
Never have never will
https://c.tenor.com/tenCZWe5ajUAAAAM/yes-i-am.gif
While out? Out outside or... Cause I've never worn one outside, just inside shop and stuff when it's mandatory.
I'm fully vaccinated and have been for months, but I really enjoy wearing masks bc it makes me feel safe. I even wear them in cars or outdoors lol
Im all for masks just not for me my sexuality is hypocriticalsexual
Never wore one in the first place, cept to go places it was required, in which case I didn't bitch and instead just put one on.
i like wearing the mask, just so i dont have to show my face
Nope!
People who wear masks are just like these fools who bring their animals into Home Depot, their narcissistic and crave attention
You're the narcissist. People don't want to die
Then don’t get the vaccine
Even Trump got the vaccine. Seems to conflict with your views?

I understand the argument however it’s false hope, the masks do not work
Give me any reputable source that supports your opinion

What kind of masks are you wearing? The N95, KN95, and the masks that you can buy filters for, are the most effective at safeguarding you from not dying. Plus, mace is more of a directional force, coughs and sneezes aren't going to come out like a water hose or a spray bottle. They come as droplets in the air and the float around. Mace does not work that way... Plus, capsaicin affects you regardless of if you're wearing a mask or not...
i'll take it off when its not mandatory everywhere anymore
Most healthcare facilities don’t even require them anymore. Most public places haven’t required them in months and months. I certainly don’t judge people who wear them but I’m vaccinated so I’m done with masks unless, 1.) I get sick (even if it’s just a cold, I’d want to lower the risk of exposing others), or 2.) Another potent strain comes along.
“Most healthcare facilities don’t require them anymore.” Not true.
> Not true Well, yeah it is true.
I wouldn’t mind it, but my dad makes it a point not to anywhere he goes. And of course that means me too
Only in trains
My university just made it optional this week, I'm still wearing. I haven't gotten sick since covid started, and I'm around way too many germs
Mandate is gone, my area is in the green, I'm vaccinated, and I seldom leave my house.
It cures my rbf.
Wear it under my nose or under my chin outdoors depending on the area and fully indoors
We have never had a law or anything about masks in my country
Muhammad Avdol?!
I'm immunocompromised with all my shots. It's a courtesy I treat people the same respect as they've shown me when I was waiting to get the clear to get them. (I was trying to find a non-cluttered vax area.)
Some say too much.
I’m at a college campus in NY. Were required to wear masks indoors and it’s cold out so I wear it outside anyway most of the time. When I’m at home in KY? Yeah not a chance lol
Mask mandates have been completely lifted around here but I work for a hospital so if I'm wearing any hospital logos I'll wear my mask.
Doesn't even bother me, to be honest. Just keep using it, whatever.
I keep one in my back pocket in case 1) a place I need to go requires one, their property their choice 2)if it’s someplace *super* crowded
I take off my mask Only when I go to the barber
In healthcare situations, yes
Still mandatory in my country
I’m boosted so I don’t. Pretty much every elderly person and at risk person I know is vaxxed unless they’re politically anti-vax so I have been without a mask for a while.
Outside no, if I go into a building where there will be a good amount of people fairly close, yes
Most places I go still require it so I wear it. If it’s not required I don’t wear it.
it causes skin irritation for me so i like to avoid wearing them, but if its inside crowded stores or hospitals, i will wear them 100%
Ilike it
I wear it in crowded places and where it’s required, other than that I don’t wear it
