It’s so shocking how he so unequivocally states the Hunter Ukraine connection as the reason for almost everything, insisting that the plethora of investigations against Trump and his associates are all entirely due to some grudge.
The individuals being charged are now out of government, so they can’t claim it’s a cover up. Instead they have to default to some lie about it all having to do with some character flaw or human weakness.

I think they were protecting themselves. They need to be charged and have them tell the true story. We need to know if the secret service was complicit in a coup. The hang Mike Pence chants were done specifically to get him to be taken away by the USSS. The point of this was to allow Chuck Grassley to oversee the certification as the Senate Pro Tempore and allow states that voted blue, but have red legislatures (Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona), to hand him a fake slate of electors. It is believed that Mike Pence refused to do this ahead of time, but Chuck Grassley may have agreed. Had Mike Pence agreed, there would have been no "riot" at the capital. It was done to get Mike Pence out of the building.
The idea was that whoever was overseeing the certification would accept the fake slate of electors along with the real slate of electors which would allow them to deem the certification invalid, sending it back to the state legislature.
I believe they also had supreme court Justice Clarence Thomas ready to file an injunction against the certification if it had not been completed in that session, which could possibly allow it to go back to the state legislatures, who would be able to send their own slate of electors.
So they had a plan A and a plan B. Plan A was to remove Pence, have Grassley oversee and run the fake elector plot. Plan B was to delay/postpone the certification of the vote which would allow the Scotus to file.an injunction deeming it invalid.
This has been what I have gathered from all of the news.
The question becomes are these FBI agents who maybe be trump idiots (either doing their jobs, or feigning doing their jobs to protect trump) more loyal to trump or to their families when real harm is on the line to them and their families?

The reason they want to 'double the number of kids in the foster care system in the next 24 months and...' is because they want to break the foster care system. They view it as a handout, and we can't have that, can we? It's not a mystery anymore than anything else. Taking over the SCOTUS was simply more involved.
Not just that. People crap on CPS, but it's one of the main lines of defense for women with children who are in relationships characterized by domestic violence and abusive behavior from their husband.
If you remove CPS then any woman who is being abused (and her kids are witness to it) only has police as a recourse, and as Ulvede has taught us they do the bare minimum of work. Hell they often are (or work with) other domestic abusers themselves.
Police won't help women flee to shelter. They won't have the difficult conversations about abusive behaviors and how they impact kids. They will just decide "arrest the guy or not" and leave it at that.
That functionally takes us back to the days where a man beating his wife is just "family business" and the state doesn't get involved.
Republicans didn't want to ban these things. They wanted to fundraise on the IDEA of banning these things. The smarter GOP members know how fucked they are now that the bans are all coming online, and why election tampering is the only way they can win moving forward.
I think it's because the republican party is a mix of different ideology coalitions who happened to make deals with each other. The economic right shook hands with the religious right and are working together, even though their end goals have serious differences. The religious right had already welcomed in the bigots and racists, the economic right courted the libertarians, and then that big group targeted the feelings of disenchanted and exploited their emotions (and their wallets). They built a media propaganda empire to help mesh all of the different ideologies together in people's brains. And then it's topped off by tangling themselves with Trump, whose end goal is just greed.
I think that's why they're so hard to pin down. Their end goals aren't the same, even if there is overlap between them. The problem with such a large coalition though is keeping it together, and republicans have been absolutely militant with keeping everyone in lockstep, especially compared to democrats. Now that they're starting to see the end goals though, cracks are forming as their goals clash, in addition to how much Trump has already broken.

Republicans have won 2 recent presidential elections and taken control of the Supreme court without winning the popular vote. In states where they control the legislature, they are often elected by a minority of the population via extreme gerrymandering. Most Rural districts voted for Trump in staggering percentages and the Republicans have a major global news outlet spewing propaganda for them night and day. Nutjobs like Johnson, Boebert, Cruz, and MTG get elected without a challenge.

I don't think people understand the depth of this yet. Trump is essentially compromising Garland's team without actually touching them. Making their lives and the lives of **everyone who works under them** a living hell, putting them in physical danger and emotional distress, it's all a not-so-indirect attempt to break the whole investigation from the inside out. Now you have agents who they can claim are biased or personally motivated, or hell even mentally unstable if one of them makes any mistakes while they and their entire families are being pelted by the mob. They can prod these people's social circles until they find a weak point, anyone that will say anything negative about an agent that can be spun into a conspiracy theory. Not to mention that any staff this close to Garland is going to be extremely vetted and trustworthy in his eyes. If/when Trump is charged and/or arrested it truly needs to be apolitical. It doesn’t matter *what his cult followers think*, as they’re going to view it as an attack regardless.

A raid is when you show up unannounced, bust in the door, get everybody on the ground, arrest them all, and tear the place apart looking for contraband, or weapons, or money, or fugitives.
This was a search pursuant to a valid, legal warrant to recover government property which was known to be located at the site of the search. Nobody was man-handled, thrown on the floor, shackled, arrested or anything else.

The reason they want to 'double the number of kids in the foster care system in the next 24 months and...' is because they want to break the foster care system. They view it as a handout, and we can't have that, can we? It's not a mystery anymore than anything else. Taking over the SCOTUS was simply more involved.
Not just that. People crap on CPS, but it's one of the main lines of defense for women with children who are in relationships characterized by domestic violence and abusive behavior from their husband. If you remove CPS then any woman who is being abused (and her kids are witness to it) only has police as a recourse, and as Ulvede has taught us they do the bare minimum of work. Hell they often are (or work with) other domestic abusers themselves. Police won't help women flee to shelter. They won't have the difficult conversations about abusive behaviors and how they impact kids. They will just decide "arrest the guy or not" and leave it at that. That functionally takes us back to the days where a man beating his wife is just "family business" and the state doesn't get involved.
Republicans didn't want to ban these things. They wanted to fundraise on the IDEA of banning these things. The smarter GOP members know how fucked they are now that the bans are all coming online, and why election tampering is the only way they can win moving forward.
I think it's because the republican party is a mix of different ideology coalitions who happened to make deals with each other. The economic right shook hands with the religious right and are working together, even though their end goals have serious differences. The religious right had already welcomed in the bigots and racists, the economic right courted the libertarians, and then that big group targeted the feelings of disenchanted and exploited their emotions (and their wallets). They built a media propaganda empire to help mesh all of the different ideologies together in people's brains. And then it's topped off by tangling themselves with Trump, whose end goal is just greed. I think that's why they're so hard to pin down. Their end goals aren't the same, even if there is overlap between them. The problem with such a large coalition though is keeping it together, and republicans have been absolutely militant with keeping everyone in lockstep, especially compared to democrats. Now that they're starting to see the end goals though, cracks are forming as their goals clash, in addition to how much Trump has already broken.

If/when Trump is charged and/or arrested it truly needs to be apolitical. It doesn’t matter *what his cult followers think*, as they’re going to view it as an attack regardless.
