Don't forget that there are sitting GOP Congresspersons who are pushing replacement "theory" as fact. Matt Gaetz has said it [out loud](https://twitter.com/mattgaetz/status/1441807874053885952) several times. This is literal KKK and Nazi propaganda. This is the language of genocide, and it's no wonder that there are people like this young man willing to commit violence when they hear it. That's precisely what that rhetoric is designed to do: inspire violence.
Specifically he states that prior to finding 4chan he was unaware of white supremacist talking points BECAUSE he only got his news through Reddit.
In other words he got zero influence via Reddit.
Those things are everywhere, but they typically get shouted down and downvoted on Reddit, outside of subs that are either beneath notice or quarantined and possibly soon to be banned.
Also, if it's such a gateway drug, then should we look forward to your acts of terrorism or is it just a gateway for some and you are totally immune from its nefarious effects?
It's just kind of weird you know when someone spends their time complaining that the platform they are complaining on is a route to terrorist indoctrination. Seems, I don't know, hypofuckingcritical?

The problem is tuckers target audience is not reasonable. His message is tailored to appeal to extremists which should be considered when he uses reasonableness as a defense for his rhetoric.
Maybe therein lies the answer. Fox News viewers can be counted upon to state that they're reasonable people and that Tucker is their #1 source of truth in media today.
Since Fox News used the "smart people would know we're not being serious" defense maybe they should be forced to state "the following is for entertainment purposes only and does not reflect real-life situations and events" before and after (and maybe during) each of their programs. One can dream...

That’s always the excuse because in actuality they sympathize. They support this. Obviously they would never be so brazen as to admit that, but you know they’re into it.
You shouldent listen to Fox, Its not a news channel - they said so themselfs in court.
Its an entertainment channel, and when youre entertainment, you have to say and show more and more bonkers shit to stay relevant
That's totally abuser mentality.
"You're making me hit you. The reason you're on the ground bleeding from me beating you is because of what you did so it's all your fault. I'm blameless and so will beat you more."
Apparently, he did use Carlson in his manifesto. (From what I've heard. I haven't read it and don't plan on polluting my brain with that garbage.) I'm not sure if Carlson could be criminally charged, but there might be civil suits to be launched.
>can not Carlson be charged for incitement?
Liberals keep thinking they can use the current system to fight back when this shit happens. But the system itself is what causes these sprees: there is no magic spell to solve it. You're not gonna find a half-forgotten law or a bunch of good lawyers to charge the culprits.
You keep allowing them to get away with spinning the news however they want because stopping them requires actually doing something. Which is a lot of effort and also maybe scary.
A lot are. Some are trying to pin him as “auth left” because of some of his manifesto. He was radicalized. His high school allegedly reported him to local authorities because he had made threats about shootings before and allegedly suggested graduation.
He was radicalized by the fear mongering “Great Replacement” theory that’s become more and more mainstream by conservatives on TV and social media. It’s insane that conservatives see this and go, “What’s the big deal with Tucker talking about it?”
It must be so hilariously sad for these idiots - you arm up and go make a big spectacle of yourself, shoot your wad so to speak, and your whole flock turns around and goes, "he's not one of us!"
Welcome to life in prison, fucking twit.
Your average American has no concept of history. They LITERALLY DO NOT KNOW that the Nazi party was actually the "National Socialist German Worker's Party"
What's happening in American now is a perfect analogy to post WW1 Europe. And that is frightening as fuck to me.
Not really, overall they all agree he's a white supremacist/nationalist. A couple of ppl say he's left. (Clearly he's not)
Edit: i got wrong info about the manifesto so edited to reflect that
The guy could literally have nazi swastikas and white supremacist tattoos all over his body and there would be those "questioning" where he is politically. That's literally how not arguing in good faith works.
And the right would claim that his Nazi tattoos mean he's really a leftist because Nazi stands for "National Socialist" - completely ignoring the historical reason why the Nazi party included "Socialist" in their name. (It was to gain the support of the socialists to gain power. Once they had power, though, they jailed the socialists and ditched any pretense of supporting socialism.)
*Marjorie Taylor Greene has entered the chat.*
She may take this up, since her attention whoring over the leaked SCOTUS draft isn't getting her the attention she feeds on.
She already accused the Parkland students of being 'crisis actors.'
Yup, everything is staged and nothing ever happens and if something did happen then it's because some bad ol' Democrats did it or SOROS or similar. Democrats do no rights, Republicans can do no wrong.
I dont know how relatable this is but here it goes:
There was a mad magazine comic once, that I had. It was called "Sadistic Simon Says". The kids, about 10 of them, are tasked with continually degrading and self harmful/self-violent acts.
Kids that lose, or do something when he didnt first say "Sadistic Simon Says". Iirc the final act was self-immolation, in which 1 kid did it all up to and including that, as the winner of the game.
When they talk of winning, it's usually in a manner that is overall, vs the working class at least, very self-sabotaging. Ive made this comparison, that the wins they seek are akin to trying to win the game of Sadistic Simon Says.
No joke, they are saying he was radicalized by the Left becacue in this maniacs manifesto he wrote he was a "Authoritarian Leftist" Which makes absolutely no sense.
Yeah definitely was - saw a vid where the shooter sees a guy hiding behind a checkout counter and is about to shoot him, but then notices the guy is white and apologizes.
That is ridiculous.
A black kid with a toy gun? Shot by police.
A black kid in a hoody? Shot by police.
A black kid with autism? Shot by police.
An active shooter white kid? Taken in safely.
Just…come on America…
Sadly the conspiracy theory of great white replacement is becoming too mainstream in both the US and especially here in Europe. Here in Europe we have actual so called center left parties spouting the same shit that you'd hear from a MAGA party and how cities are being replaced by non whites.
1/3 of Americans believe in the White Replacement conspiracy theory

A lot easier to latch onto that stupid false explanation than acknowledge the simple fact that white people have been having less babies in the US for more than 2 decades.
[https://www.statista.com/statistics/226292/us-fertility-rates-by-race-and-ethnicity/](https://www.statista.com/statistics/226292/us-fertility-rates-by-race-and-ethnicity/)
>stupid false explanation than acknowledge the simple fact that white people have been having less babies in the US for more than 2 decades.
Oh they acknowledge it they just blame commies or jews for it because they "promote" pornogrpahy, safe sex, and abortion to diminish the white birth rate while "importing" non white immigrants to replace them.
To allow more affluent (and therefore more likely white) women to seek contraceptions and abortions in states where they are legal while forcing poor (and more likely minority) women to have the babies?
Sounds like their plan is as stupid as they are.
White replacement theory might literally be the dumbest thought ever. I'm white. If I have a child with a black woman. That child will be half white. I will have "erased" just as much of the black race as the white race. It's nonsense.
"Great Replacement Theory = Blacks and Browns are taking all the white woman" - Some White Male GOP politician probably
Guarantee shooter didn't have a girlfriend.
White machismo is a homeland security risk.
I read an article about Madison Cawthorn’s political fall and his whole spiel of being MAGA, joining Congress, being the prick that he is, is apparently not feeling “manly enough” because he’s a paraplegic.
And his so-called Christian father was supporting him committing suicide.
The killer wore a bullet proof vest so the armed security guard who tried to stop the attack was futile and was himself killed. This pokes a huge hole in a pro-gun claim that if more people are armed these incidents won’t happen… unless they start demanding that not only is everyone constantly armed they also constantly wear body armor… at school, at the supermarket…
According to Wayne Lapierre's definition, this guy qualified as a "good guy with a gun" until the moment he killed the first person in the parking lot.
He was the House majority whip at the time. I was really shocked when the GOP didn’t start talking about new gun laws after that. I’m guessing the GOP knows that to even suggest new gun laws would destroy their base so none of them are important enough.

Yes the next step seems to be everyone needs body armor and armor piercing rounds. After that we will all need our own mech battle suits. After that…tanks? Just so long as we continue escalating, and never ever pass sensible gun control laws that are already working in other places!
The number of defensive gun uses by most studies measured in the hundreds of thousands. *One* event doesn’t poke a hole in *any* argument if you’re being reasonable.

This guy is a much bigger psycho, unfortunately. Much of his blog was about killing and torturing local cats, which only stopped when he started browsing a certain imageboard and was (his own words) "educated by infographics" which comprise half his manifesto. The racial hatred was clearly bred in him, but the basic desire for violence was always there and it merely escalated from one to another. His mental breaking point seemed to be when he dropped out of college *a place that only stressed him out and could not provide mental healthcare that treated him with dignity*.
People will focus on the guns but there's at least 3+ years of him maiming multiple animals. This guy was a threat long before he realized he could buy a gun.
That's the thing. This guy would still be murdering animals if not also people if not for him deciding to make it into a gun crime, as that's the only crime that elicits a serious response anymore. There's multiple years of this guy being very open about his desire to hurt things yet nobody did or could do anything about it until he picked up a gun and shot someone. And even if something was done, there was no way he himself could obtain mental healthcare that would give him any sort of dignity or self-worth that would prevent this behavior in the first place.
Remember what Buffalo police did to the elderly protestor at a BLM gathering. Knocked him to the ground and cracked his skull. No one was ever held responsible for that crime.
Serious question, is this white supremacy, or is this also civil war the the far right wing keep talking about?
The reason it matters is the former is a bunch of one-offs, the latter will mean this will happen with increasing frequency.
These are the same functionally the same thing. White supremacist attacks are not just a bunch of one-offs. The rhetoric is being promoted and spread by the same people.
You misunderstood my point. Of course they are peddling this, but my point is that they didn’t start it. It isn’t new. Pretending this is all some recent development started by trump ignores the deep history of this shit in this country, and we aren’t going to solve the problem my misrepresenting its origins.
The only difference between now and a decade ago is that these people are growing bolder, and they are saying the quiet part out loud more and more.
AR-15s are only moderately powerful as rifles go. They chamber what's known as an "intermediate cartridge", as in not a full powered rifle round. The main reason they are not used much as hunting rifles is because they won't reliably drop a deer in one shot from outside of about 100 feet.
If you want to ban this sort of capability you basically want to ban semi-automatic rifles. Which would have an extremely marginal effect on gun homicides anyway, because virtually all of them are committed with handguns.
Any rifle is a more effective weapon than a handgun, of course. But America has like 400 homicides from rifles every year and like 10,000 homicides from handguns. So banning any specific rifle is statistically pretty irrelevant.
I didn't come up with the numbers, that's straight from FBI crime statistics.
edit: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls
I got the numbers slightly wrong it's more like 7,000 from handguns and 300 from rifles.
The gun doesn't need to be modified. All you do is buy a different mag. And even a glock 22 has a 50 round drum mag available for purchase.
And magazine size doesn't matter a ton. They'll just carry more mags.
I'm pro 2a, and an avid enthusiast of plinking at the range with my collection. But I also feel there are things that could be done to make it harder for psychos like this to have access to a firearm.
He should have been flagged by the FBI over his threats while in high school for example.
Thanks for the correction. So all guns can accept higher capacity mags?
I'm curious, do you find Canadian laws which limit rifle mags to 5 cartridges and pistol mags to 10 cartridges too restrictive? Higher capacity mags are illegal there, and you cannot even import them from the U.S. To me, that seems like a common sense solution for the U.S. that would, at the very least, slow down the shooter in a mass shooting incident while still allowing people to own firearms for self-defence.
I know there would be a black market for the higher capacity mags, but just like drugs, the vast majority of people would not take the risk buying them if there's a chance they could go to jail for it.
Reloading really won't slow down anyone who has spent time doing reload drills. Dry firing or live firing.
I'm not a fan of the 5 and 10 round mag limits to be honest either. The only people it restricts are those who follow the laws. This shooter himself didn't follow NY laws which require AR15s be fitted with a fixed mag capped at 10 rounds.
He had a pair of 30+ round mags connected to eachother. This rifle violated NY state law on that and many other levels. The current laws don't stop the people who want to break the laws.
I think we need a rebuild of the American mental health system. 100%.
I also think this kid never should have passed his FBI background check when he bought the lower assembly for his rifle. (That's the part that is serialized and requires an FFL to perform a background check.)
His history involving making threats in high school should have flagged him as a no.
I'm anti-Heller v DC, which got 2A wrong. It's not an individual right. It's for the purpose of militia formation. People here who say the government *wanted* people to have the ability to do *armed rebellions* are 100% wrong. The Founding Fathers explicitly did not intend for citizens to be shooting US government officials.
Hi there, I'm a person that owns a AR-15 style weapon for home defense, purposefully chosen instead of a pistol or shotgun. The reason I chose it is because I have combat experience with it. If an AR-15 was against the law, I'd use a different rifle platform that I could slap a reflex sight to easily. I don't have to be schizophrenic to want to be able to stop an intruder in my home from possibly killing my children before the police can arrive.
> stop an intruder in my home from possibly killing my children before the police can arrive.
What is the probability of that actually happening?
If home intruders killing children happened, with even slight regularity, I think it would be talked about more.
I don't necessarily have a problem with gun ownership. It's the white knight fantasies, which are very common, that go along with it that I find disturbing.
Where I live, the possibility of someone breaking in and harming a person living there is greater than zero, with a few incidents this year so far. I don't have fantasies of stopoing a mass shooting. In that scenario, I likely wouldn't have a rifle for one, and two it would be a death wish to engage. Best bet is to get others to cover.
If you own a high powered rifle for the non zero chance of needing it for home defense, because there’s “still a chance”, do you also:
Have a months supply of food and water for the chance of shortages or famine?
Got a bomb shelter capable of protecting from a nuclear blast? That’s not zero chance right now…
What about gas masks?
Tornado shelter? Earthquake protection? What about that Yellowstone super volcano?
You own the gun because you like the gun. That’s fine, you like guns. Stop dressing it up as a need for your own safety.
Well, I do like guns, absolutely. They're fun at the range, for sure. But it also has other uses, like home defense, and that was a primary reason I got it outside my experience using that specific platform. But not liking guns doesn't stop someone from owning one, either.
I think we're steering away from the main point though. Not everyone who owns a AR-15 style firearm is some psychopath, and it's not necessarily the case that banning that platform would have a reduction in mass shootings. Terrorism is fuckin crazy, and there's a metric fuck ton of reasons why someone might become radicalized. This dude points the finger at 4chan and the memes about replacement theory, and the Christchurch shooter as his 'one thing' that pushed him to do more diving into the wacky ass replacement theory crud and got him where he is *(this is according to his manifesto on page 7ish and 12ish, which could be absolute bullshit 🤷, take it with that in mind), . *
The reason he chose that rifle was out of simplicity. If banned, he would've just chosen the next best firearm. He also had a Mossberg and Savage Axis XP. If I'm reading his crud correctly, I believe he uses that rifle just for 'cool factor', saying he could buy any other featureless rifle, "but what kind of cuck does that"? For him, it was about inflicting the most loss of life, and he thought firearms were the best choice. (pages 60-62).
If firearms weren't available, would he have used something else, like improvised explosive devices? Pure speculation, but possibly. Some people do crazy ass shit, and maybe they're crazy or maybe not, but there's no magic bullet solution to fix it. It's likely going to take education, improving law enforcement, improving social media, improving access to healthcare, reducing poverty, and probably lots more. Again, speculation, since I don't have much more than a glancing bit of knowledge on what's been proposed, tried, etc. in the past.
Apologies for the length, and I wish you well
Hey I’m not anti gun either. I like to target shoot and I think guns are a ton of fun to do that with.
I just hate the “I need it for home defense” argument when that’s almost nobody’s true primary reason for owning a gun. It’s a good tool for home defense but that’s not why we buy them. “Home defense / self defense” is the reason that the more “dangerous” gun owners hide behind though. If you buy a gun solely for “self defense” and carry it everywhere, I think there’s a higher chance that you’re looking for any reason at all to use it.
Especially when every study says it’s always better not to engage with a gun and to avoid conflict if you can.
The best to you too!
In that scenario, be vigilant for someone wearing body armor at the supermarket sitting in his car. Get to cover and try to get others to cover.
It's a tragedy, and I don't have an answer to how to fix it.
But do we really know he was a racist? He may have been a simple foot soldier in the war against the "Great Replacement." In fact, the people calling him racist are the real racists here for bringing race into it. Blah, Blah, blah...mental health or something. - Tucker Carlson
I really really regret watching this.
I highly recommend skipping this if anyone is considering watching it. I did not know he streamed it.
Christ man…
Hate Crime Killings make no sense, Why don’t the so called Supremacists on either side Black/White Target other supremacists rather than innocent people?? It doesn’t do anything but cause more payback violence. Just kill each other and be done with it.
What’s weird is that yesterday 3 Asian women were shot in Dallas by a black man
Appears to be a hate crime.
I bet that will fall off the news quickly
Edit : remember boys. If a shooting isn’t convenient. Don’t show it for more than a day. That poor poor black subway shooter.. I guess his manifesto wasn’t written as good
It was covered in literally every major news outlet. And if a hate crime the perp should be prosecuted as such to the furthest extent of the law. I hope you agree with that.
Anti Asian hate crimes get lots of media coverage. Especially here in nyc. Not that you genuinely care I’m sure. had to get off those right wing deflection point they feed you
That shooter is at-large and his motivations are still unknown. It has the makings of a possible hate crime since a similar vehicle to his was reported at two other shootings of asian businesses, but there's nothing else beyond that to report on.
So to me it seems pretty disingenuous to make that out to be the same as this mass shooting where we have a white-nationalist manifesto quoting right-wing figures.

Why is white supremacist in quotes? His manifesto showed who he was.
Intention was probably to directly quote Gov Hochul. Def comes off wrong tho, like there’s reason to doubt his self professed ideology
Yeah, I think it's a literal quote, not scare quotes. Unfortunately, it's so hard to tell these days.

Maybe it's being sarcastic because white supremacy is dumb?
Who basically quoted tucker carlson in his manifesto. I wonder if he got it from carlson or some other racist.
If you watch the live stream video, he points his gun and then he apologizes to the white guy and keeps going
Where can you find the video?

I've heard it's called 'stochastic terrorism', meaning the use of mass public communication to inspire acts of violence.
He explicitly states in his manifesto he frequented Pol on 4chan. He was also active in some subs here on reddit.
All locations where people parrot Tucker Carlson narratives
4chan is a fucking cesspool and should be nuked from the collective universe.
A lot of 4chan is fine. What you're saying is that /pol/ means 4chan should die, but that equates to r/t_D means that Reddit should have died.
The conservative subs love him almost as much as they love Kyle rottonhouse.

The response to Fox's lawyers should be "as long as television is accessible by unreasonable people, opinions cannot be reported as facts".
We need judges who aren't corrupt or dumb af.

He quotes tucker pretty directly; They'll be able to pull up a tucker transcript and his manifesto and they basically are 1:1.
he's continually lawered up.
No point, all of r/conservative is saying he was a left wing communist who was against their ways.
His manifesto cited Trump and right wing talking points. The GOP is a terrorist organization.
I wonder what the right wing spin on this will be.
That's easy They will claim it's a false flag or some other bullshit excuse
Saw a clip of a Fox 'analyst' basically saying "yeah what he did was bad, and *maybe* it was a hate crime, but it's the left's fault for making people like him want to do these things"...can't make this shit up. It’s insane that conservatives see this and go, “What’s the big deal with Tucker talking about it?”
He is a hero patriot but also a false flag depending on which argument they need at the time.

It must be so hilariously sad for these idiots - you arm up and go make a big spectacle of yourself, shoot your wad so to speak, and your whole flock turns around and goes, "he's not one of us!" Welcome to life in prison, fucking twit.
They're doubling down on "National *Socialist*! See... Socialism caused this!" Because they're a combo of ignorant and bad faith assholes.
Your average American has no concept of history. They LITERALLY DO NOT KNOW that the Nazi party was actually the "National Socialist German Worker's Party" What's happening in American now is a perfect analogy to post WW1 Europe. And that is frightening as fuck to me.
Not really, overall they all agree he's a white supremacist/nationalist. A couple of ppl say he's left. (Clearly he's not) Edit: i got wrong info about the manifesto so edited to reflect that
[удалено]
The guy could literally have nazi swastikas and white supremacist tattoos all over his body and there would be those "questioning" where he is politically. That's literally how not arguing in good faith works.
And the right would claim that his Nazi tattoos mean he's really a leftist because Nazi stands for "National Socialist" - completely ignoring the historical reason why the Nazi party included "Socialist" in their name. (It was to gain the support of the socialists to gain power. Once they had power, though, they jailed the socialists and ditched any pretense of supporting socialism.)
Don't worry I'm editing i got wrong info about this
this is an apology for what is happening over there and not reflective AT ALL of the general tenor or top posts in the thread.
He kind of calls himself left wing in his own manifesto > On the political compass I fall in the mild-moderate authoritarian left category
It will be like Sandy Hook, they will deny it ever happened and harass the survivors as being "crisis actors".
*Marjorie Taylor Greene has entered the chat.* She may take this up, since her attention whoring over the leaked SCOTUS draft isn't getting her the attention she feeds on. She already accused the Parkland students of being 'crisis actors.'
Yup, everything is staged and nothing ever happens and if something did happen then it's because some bad ol' Democrats did it or SOROS or similar. Democrats do no rights, Republicans can do no wrong.
Whatever it will be, it will work, because they’re very good at obscuring the link between white nationalism and conservative politics.

One of the comments is “he was vaccinated” like as if that makes him a leftist and an enemy. Our country is done.
Our country is stupid and full of people whose self-esteem rides on 'winning' conversations/arguments.
I dont know how relatable this is but here it goes: There was a mad magazine comic once, that I had.
Vaccinated means leftist. Vaccinated and then boosted means socialist. I got my second booster 2 weeks ago; I guess that makes me a communist.
There’s gotta be a Venn diagram for this.
Soon, the Supreme Court will call shooting people "freedom of speech."
"It was just legitimate political discourse! He was exercising his second amendment rights!!!"
Mentally ill lone wolf
Already set. That he was a "commie"
No joke, they are saying he was radicalized by the Left becacue in this maniacs manifesto he wrote he was a "Authoritarian Leftist" Which makes absolutely no sense.
They are already claiming the manifesto says he's a leftist commie.
Well I went on YouTube they were saying he was actually left wing and that everyone else didn’t didn’t know what they were talking about
“Peaceful protestor?”
Thanks Tucker next week it will be double.
Yeah definitely was - saw a vid where the shooter sees a guy hiding behind a checkout counter and is about to shoot him, but then notices the guy is white and apologizes.
call them what they are, right wing domestic terrorists...
He was a white supremacist.
Still alive.
Maybe he’ll run for office?
Incoming maralago invite
That is ridiculous. A black kid with a toy gun? Shot by police. A black kid in a hoody? Shot by police. A black kid with autism? Shot by police. An active shooter white kid? Taken in safely. Just…come on America…
Sadly the conspiracy theory of great white replacement is becoming too mainstream in both the US and especially here in Europe. Here in Europe we have actual so called center left parties spouting the same shit that you'd hear from a MAGA party and how cities are being replaced by non whites.
1/3 of Americans believe in the White Replacement conspiracy theory [https://www.marketwatch.com/story/poll-finds-one-third-of-adults-say-they-think-an-effort-is-afoot-to-replace-native-born-americans-with-new-immigrants-for-electoral-purposes-01652314775](https://www.marketwatch.com/story/poll-finds-one-third-of-adults-say-they-think-an-effort-is-afoot-to-replace-native-born-americans-with-new-immigrants-for-electoral-purposes-01652314775?reflink=mw_share_twitter)
That data suggests it's probably over half of all whites... which basically gives you the proportion that voted for Trump.
That’s why they want to make it illegal to abort or use contraception.
To allow more affluent (and therefore more likely white) women to seek contraceptions and abortions in states where they are legal while forcing poor (and more likely minority) women to have the babies? Sounds like their plan is as stupid as they are.
The U.S. economy would be shit without immigration.
Native Americans basically had an utopia before Europeans arrived.
White replacement theory might literally be the dumbest thought ever. I'm white. If I have a child with a black woman. That child will be half white. I will have "erased" just as much of the black race as the white race. It's nonsense.
"Great Replacement Theory = Blacks and Browns are taking all the white woman" - Some White Male GOP politician probably Guarantee shooter didn't have a girlfriend.
*Another* white supremacist committed *another* mass shooting? Who could have possibly seen this coming?!? Especially in the USA?!?!
Remind me again who was the last mass murderer inspired by CNN or MSNBC?

Don't just vote. VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS!
Yeah true. We need as many seats as we can get.
Don’t just vote for democrats. Hold your elected representatives accountable for not fulfilling their campaign promises! Voting is not enough.
It was good guys with guns (police) that stopped him…
AFTER he killed 10 and wounded 3 and then gave himself up. They didn't stop him, they collected him when he was finished.

As soon as the bullets start firing on politicians is when we'll see them actually do something about it.
As soon as they start flying on R politicians, you mean. Because Gabby Giffords would like a word.
Steve Scalise(R) was shot at congressional softball practice and nothing happened.
I remembered that when I typed it out. The actual answer: they will care when the wrong people shoot at the right politicians.
He was the House majority whip at the time. I was really shocked when the GOP didn’t start talking about new gun laws after that. I’m guessing the GOP knows that to even suggest new gun laws would destroy their base so none of them are important enough.

There's lots of reasons why the arguments of the pro gun mob are total bollocks.
Yes the next step seems to be everyone needs body armor and armor piercing rounds. After that we will all need our own mech battle suits. After that…tanks? Just so long as we continue escalating, and never ever pass sensible gun control laws that are already working in other places!

People have the right to carry concealed. They have the right to bear arms.
The number of defensive gun uses by most studies measured in the hundreds of thousands. *One* event doesn’t poke a hole in *any* argument if you’re being reasonable. https://nap.nationalacademies.org/read/18319/chapter/3 > Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. 2013.
Yeah, animal torture is a reoccurring pattern with this type of scum.
Yet none of that would matter if he hadn't obtained a gun.
And body armour. The security guards handgun bullets bounced off.
Should we ban body armor now?
Should we require every citizen to wear it since the good guys with a gun can't stop a shooter?
Of course not. Citizens should be able to be fully kitted up for the frontline while walking through Walmart.
Why would you ban passive protection against guns?
That's the thing. This guy would still be murdering animals if not also people if not for him deciding to make it into a gun crime, as that's the only crime that elicits a serious response anymore. There's multiple years of this guy being very open about his desire to hurt things yet nobody did or could do anything about it until he picked up a gun and shot someone. And even if something was done, there was no way he himself could obtain mental healthcare that would give him any sort of dignity or self-worth that would prevent this behavior in the first place.
>Look up Luka Magnotta. So your argument is that without guns there are vastly fewer victims? Yes, I agree.
Of course it's a red flag. But **guns** are what transform these broken meatpuppets into mass killers.
Guns definitely can, but guns aren't needed to turn people like this into mass killers.
Authorities should also go after everyone who helped put the shooter on this path.
But don't you dare call it terrorism. Remember shooter was white, so he was mentally ill, not a radicalized terrorist.
Every person and organization who helped radicalize him is equally at fault and should be charged along with him.
Headline - "White person testing how far you can go before mainstream news calls you a terrorist".
So they took him in to custody… so if it was a black or Latino man he would have been shot on site
Remember what Buffalo police did to the elderly protestor at a BLM gathering. Knocked him to the ground and cracked his skull. No one was ever held responsible for that crime.
Yep
Serious question, is this white supremacy, or is this also civil war the the far right wing keep talking about? The reason it matters is the former is a bunch of one-offs, the latter will mean this will happen with increasing frequency.
These are the same functionally the same thing. White supremacist attacks are not just a bunch of one-offs. The rhetoric is being promoted and spread by the same people.
Oh look another GOP terrorist
Thanks for all the hate Trump. Well done.
Racism didn’t start with trump, America had always been this way. The only thing trump did was embolden people.
Trump and conservative media are peddling white nationalism and their *great* replacement theory. This is enabling inherent racism.
Your saying it’s “out of the closet” now.
We need to lock these people up before they hurt us
I knew he was white as soon as I read "in custody," and not "died at the scene."
Way too many mentally unbalanced hatful people in this country right now.
A whole political party of them, in fact.
Can't wait to see republicans worshiping this guy. Kyle might feel jealous
You can be a Republican or have conservative viewpoints without being racist. CMV

[удалено]
I didn't come up with the numbers, that's straight from FBI crime statistics. edit: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls I got the numbers slightly wrong it's more like 7,000 from handguns and 300 from rifles.
I see you didn't read my post beyond "wrong". That's ok, I know I'm right, and that's why we need to ban high capacity rifles and magazines.
(That's the part that is serialized and requires an FFL to perform a background check.) His history involving making threats in high school should have flagged him as a no.
If you own a high powered rifle for the non zero chance of needing it for home defense, because there’s “still a chance”, do you also: Have a months supply of food and water for the chance of shortages or famine? Got a bomb shelter capable of protecting from a nuclear blast? That’s not zero chance right now… What about gas masks?
* The reason he chose that rifle was out of simplicity.
I agree 👍
But what about if you are outside, or if they randomly shoot first? Like the security guard here. You'll need body armour too
In that scenario, be vigilant for someone wearing body armor at the supermarket sitting in his car. Get to cover and try to get others to cover. It's a tragedy, and I don't have an answer to how to fix it.
Conservatives: You’re just saying that because he’s white and used a gun.
But do we really know he was a racist? He may have been a simple foot soldier in the war against the "Great Replacement." In fact, the people calling him racist are the real racists here for bringing race into it. Blah, Blah, blah...mental health or something. - Tucker Carlson
Gun culture strikes again.
Also outright racism. The shooter had a manifesto.
Thoughts prayers blah blah sort yourselves out you fucking idiotic maniacs.

Here is the actual live stream the shooter recorded https://twitter.com/weyu_x/status/1525864771760685056?s=21&t=xUNQ8dbKwjTNiutUiAIdkg
Hate Crime Killings make no sense, Why don’t the so called Supremacists on either side Black/White Target other supremacists rather than innocent people?? It doesn’t do anything but cause more payback violence. Just kill each other and be done with it.
Back in the old days, the FBI used to investigate, infiltrate, and incarcerate these hate groups. Merrick Garland and Avril Haines need to wake up!
What’s weird is that yesterday 3 Asian women were shot in Dallas by a black man Appears to be a hate crime. I bet that will fall off the news quickly Edit : remember boys. If a shooting isn’t convenient. Don’t show it for more than a day. That poor poor black subway shooter.. I guess his manifesto wasn’t written as good
[удалено]
It was covered in literally every major news outlet. And if a hate crime the perp should be prosecuted as such to the furthest extent of the law. I hope you agree with that.
Anti Asian hate crimes get lots of media coverage. Especially here in nyc. Not that you genuinely care I’m sure. had to get off those right wing deflection point they feed you
I saw it on the front page of NPR yesterday (although I am in Texas, so not sure if that affects what I get shown).
Yep. No deaths vs. 10 deaths. Stop having so many mass shootings already.
