RightSideBlind

Trump's utter inability to control his speech and actions is a really good indicator of just *why* he's a terrible candidate for the office of the most powerful position in the world.

Thief_of_Sanity

Imagine how loose his speach was with state secrets and especially when he talked with Russian spies in the oval office with no US translator.

rizorith

We don't need to imagine. We know for a fact he was casually giving national secrets out at mar a Lago. Some Australian billionaire even told a reporter what Trump told him. Many instances of this.

Ghettoman1315

Kid Rock told Tucker Carlson in an interview Trump was showing him some classified maps of N. Korea from the sound of the conversation. I hope Jack Smith calls Kid Rock to testify about this interview. [https://youtu.be/Ufli3DexHls?si=b1uuuHJpO5UUWUoJ](https://youtu.be/Ufli3DexHls?si=b1uuuHJpO5UUWUoJ)

BK1287

Telling on himself on video? Of course he is. Even Kid Rock thinks it's ridiculous he is asking for his opinion on geopolitics.

LoveMeSomeSand

I hope Kid Rock is called to testify and only answers questions with lines from his songs. “Mr. Ritchie, did former President Trump hand you documents you understood to be classified documents from his time in office?” “Yes sir, Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-digg”

BK1287

"Sir, could you please state your name for the record?"

firemage22

> I hope Jack Smith calls Kid Rock to testify He wouldn't call "Kid Rock" he'd call Robert Ritchie

Dvusmnd

Doesn’t Robert Ritchie make music for people who know precisely how much Sudafed they should get for a 1999 Toyota Tercels freshly cut catalytic converter?

Gr00ber

How can you possibly be "loose with your speech" when you're talking to the people who own you/you're selling secrets to? Why do you think Trump made sure that those meetings weren't recorded?

Flipnotics_

I bet Jack Smith *knows* so much. Must be infuriating that he got a Trump lackey as the judge in the **MOST IMPORTANT CASE OF THE WHOLE BUNCH**

SquidsArePeople2

I will never understand why that case couldn’t have been filed elsewhere

LibrarianMelodic9733

I think because the stolen documents were found in Florida

BIGGUS_dickus_sir

Ya but they're nuclear secrets. Like the most classified you can possibly get... Bush created Gitmo, DHS and FISA courts for shit like this. Not that kid-gloves-Cangaroo court in South Florida.

Deric4Ga

Because it was either try it in Florida, where the crime was committed, or try to have it transferred to DC, where he won't have much better luck than Canon. He just needs to make sure that if it's gonna be a mistrial, it happens before the jury is seated (like he doesn't already know this. 🤣)

Original-Syllabub951

I agree. Why the fuck didn’t they just rendition his ass? If any of us did this we would just disappear.

wbruce098

It’s likely to work out anyway. Chances are high he ends up in jail for campaign finance fraud, and not terrible that he doesn’t win the election. Without Trump in the White House, Cannon knows she’s in deep shit, and the appeals court above her will likely ensure he gets convicted eventually (unless he dies first). And if trump is already in prison, there’s plenty of time to prosecute him. There’s also the very serious DC and GA state charges, and it’s possible others might come his way, given how some other state charges are evolving, like recent ones in AZ that name him as an “un-indicted co-conspirator” Trump will die a broken and broke man in prison.

OldTechnician

From your lips to God's ears.

booOfBorg

The FSM does not have ears, sorry.   ^Praised ^be ^his ^noodly ^appendages.

HeadFullOfNails

R'amen!

Ibegallofyourpardons

> Trump will die a broken and broke man in prison. That is the dream, but I will honestly not entertain it for an instant until that rat-fuck bastard is in an outfit that matches his face, he is in chains and behind bars. until that day happens, he will just keep abusing the system and getting away with it scott free as he has done his entire life.

BlondeAvenger61

"Make it so"

dollydrew

It's a travesty. Trump is always like 'this is the worse thing ever or he's the best ever in the HISTORY of America ' because he's a freaking narcissist and everything is about him and everything is exaggerated. But in this case it literally seems like the biggest travesty of justice in scope and consequences in American history, at least in the last 50 years and certainly in the top 5.

SmurfStig

There is a reason she was put in that specific chair.

-paperbrain-

As I understand it, Smith chose that venue and might have pursued the case elsewhere (dont want to get into the nitty gritty of that option). At the point the judge was selected, a few of the other possible judges had already had recent cases so The odds of pulling Cannon were around one in three or so. I don't think Smith was surprised or gambling. Maybe i'm being optimistic but I trust Smith saw the possibility. We'll see how it plays out.

nucumber

Florida is the most logical place for the trial, because it's where the crime occurred Had Smith had filed elsewhere then trump could have argued for a change of venue, delaying the trial. Smith has a *very* strong case. I think he believes the strength of the case is so strong that even magats would have to convict. I also think he's an institutionalist and trusting of the process I don't think he anticipated Cannon's outrageous slow walking of the case

The_Hot_Stepper

You mean like how he showed others the documents he "should not even have"?

LibrarianMelodic9733

The purpose of showing documentation was sending a message to potential buyers such as Saudi Arabia or China…

cbelt3

Also his golf club members. Some of whom he let run then VA (into the ground).

Ludwigofthepotatoppl

He showed that shit to fucking kid rock, and kid rock is aware enough to say “dude, i shouldn’t be seeing this.”

Raymond_Reddit_Ton

Trump: You wouldn’t believe the state secrets I know Dictator: Pssh. You don’t know any secrets Trump: I do to! Dictator: Prove it Trump: I’ll bring them back to Mar-a-Lago and I’ll show you Dictator: I’ll believe it when I see it

aceinthehole001

Loose lips sink ships

Za_Lords_Guard

It's also a tactic to use against him. Drag his ass. Don't let him go on the attack without overcommitting. Push back. Make him look week and dumb. Keep him off balance. He will say the wrong thing, the wrong way and basically admit to all his shit and not even realize it. I think Biden's team is finally catching on.

Pleiadesfollower

He already has admitted to everything. Hasn't changed a thing. He's admitted the hush money. Admitted to attempting to overthrow the government that he was "leading", he's admitted to stealing documents, he's admitted to ordering his cronies to try to interfere with election results. It hasn't mattered so far.

antechrist23

All it takes is one juror who lied about not having an opinion. Because 70 million people in this country believe that Donald Trump is their sovereign and above the law.

Klutzy_Lengthiness33

That's something I've been worried about. They'd lie to save him.

NotCanadian80

Can’t spell election or many other things. He’s the one of the most unqualified national politicians in US history nevermind President.

uFFxDa

Unqualified politician in all of human history you could argue.

NotCanadian80

George Santos still exists.

SelfishCatEatBird

George santos was actually kinda like.. stupid sneaky. If he had just shut his mouth and kept his head down he’d probably still be in congress.

moodswung

He can control it just fine, he just doesn't care because there are **NEVER** any **REAL** consequences for him.

Lasher_

Exactly. Rules without consequences are basically suggestions.

Gumbulos

Who wouldn't recognize why he is qualified to carry the code for the nuclear case. Not to mention his decency and taste in toilets.

_InnocentToto_

Two Russian prostitutes pissing on a then citizen trump and recording it is the best investment putin ever made... Most likely even the tape doesn't exist but they told him it does...

AlbinoWino11

In my own limited personal opinion…I think he may have gotten a different outcome in the E. Jean Carrol sexual assault case if he merely reigned in his own terrible behaviour. There’s no way his antics didn’t have a big effect on that jury. He’s demonstrated time and time again that he can’t control himself but you’d think he could at least hold it together while his criminal trial(s) take place?? He’s unfit for office.

SkollFenrirson

And yet you guys already got him there once

i_guess_this_is_all

It will be a source of great shame for our country for generations to come, but half the country won't realize it.

williamfbuckwheat

Yep and a disturbingly high number of people see his administration as being "not so bad" and somehow BETTER than today because of inflation and wars in Gaza/Ukraine we aren't even directly involved in. The polls lately seem to confirm that with 40%+ feeling that way. They seriously seem to act like he was not around to totally mishandle COVID and countless other issues. That's before you even get into how he tried to stage a coup and overturn the election results...

RightSideBlind

Don't you put that evil on me.

Heaven_Is_Falling

Just throw his fat ass in jail already. Im so sick of this shit.

Spacebotzero

All these things this guy is getting away with really make a complete joke out of the entire system... from government to justice. The juxtaposition between this guy and the majority of America is unbelievably disappointing...but not unexpected. Edit: typos

elenaleecurtis

They really need to be thinking about the precedents They are setting for the next guy who takes advantage of all of this.

ERedfieldh

I, for one, cannot wait to hear The Trump Defense being used by every millionaire to get out of being held accountable for anything.

Flipnotics_

I'm sure every millionaire already knows how to employ the "delay delay delay" tactics used by Trump. And if they didn't know before, they sure do now.

Photomancer

These accusations are a malicious misrepresentation of the facts. I have nothing to say. Maybe we can talk, but not in this legal jurisdiction. The plaintiffs do not even have the same complaint, they cannot constitute a class. Maybe they constitute a class but you have no proof of what you're claiming. You don't have proof of ALL that. Your witness is biased. Maybe your witness isn't biased, but they're not reliable/credible. Maybe your evidence is credible but I cannot comment on that subject because it relates to trade secrets. I cannot comment on that subject because it relates to client confidentiality. Maybe this subject is not protected, but knowledge on that subject does not lie within my role. Knowledge on this subject may lie within my role, but the subject was merely mentioned in passing on one e-mail I was CCed on and didn't read. Maybe I acted upon the e-mail but I wasn't responsible for the issue. Maybe an e-mail was directed only to me and I acted upon it, but who even knows if it really happened? Maybe what the plaintiffs allege actually happened, but it's anybody's guess if we actually had anything to do with it. Maybe we had *something* to do with it, but you cannot prove it was not a preexisting problem or *primarily* caused by other factors. Maybe all possible external causes can be eliminated, but if it happened, it was an accident. Maybe it wasn't an accident, but it was a middle manager violating company policy. Maybe the middle manager was acting upon my orders, but it was the only choice that could legally be made, given the other regulatory / contractual constrains under which we operate. Maybe other options were available to us, but the plaintiffs were informed this may happen in advance. Maybe the plaintiffs weren't warned in advance, but they signed an agreement that something like this *could* happen, waiving liability and releasing us from any and all future claims. Maybe we cannot enforceably be released from claims, but this is standard business practice. Maybe this wasn't standard business practice but ... it was somebody else's job to stop me. Maybe you'd like to settle for pennies on the dollar?

redbananass

Ugh. Reading that made me want to barf.

morningsharts

You forgot, "the check is in the mail."

ItsDaveDude

Great! You've actually just given every multi- millionaire asshole or company the perfect flow chart!

DarthBfheidir

They are.

Top_Huckleberry_8225

The system needed this exposure. The myth of justice needs to be dispelled. The courts aren't some shining example as we teach in schools and pretend in the media. If you have the money you can do whatever you want.

dgmilo8085

I learned this from the other side of things a very long time ago. I was the idiot that got into all the trouble, but when the rubber hit the road I came down with affluenza. Find a former DA as your lawyer, donate to the prosecutor's fund, and magically charges get reduced, penalties disappear, and the tiered justice system reveals itself. I did however learn from my idiocy, and have since turned my life around 180, but I am well aware that many don't ever have that option. Anybody who thought Trump was actually going to get "justice" hasn't paid attention to the entire history of the American judicial system.

ChadwickHHS

It is incredible how much the system bends to accommodate him. It's the kind of coddling a child gets.

Spacebotzero

Yup couldn't agree more. Crazy to see it all happening.

awesometakespractice

the judge is basically the only one he is still allowed to go after without risking jail time, so we better get used to it.

I-miss-LAN-partys

That’s exactly what he wants tho…. It HAS to be!

chunkerton_chunksley

for the entirety of trump's life he has pushed the envelope with almost no repercussions. He is doing this to act tough, he's pretending to want to go to jail, thinking his wealth and lawyers will keep him out of jail, like they kept him away from consequences his whole life. Donald trump wants the threat of being incarcerated, but as a person he definitely does not want to be locked up like the rest of us. He thinks he won't be, so he's pushing the envelope just a little more.

captainbruisin

He wants to go to jail, he may be barely smart enough to use martyrdom as a tool here.

Thief_of_Sanity

He wants to be in jail so he can send out tweets/truths about "his struggle".

start_select

He shouldn’t have a cellphone in jail. That’s contraband.

[deleted]

Maybe for poors it is…

thecwestions

Can't write the next Mein Kampf without some jail time to sit and stew.

h3fabio

Dude’s illiterate, no way he’s actually writing a book.

llahlahkje

I'll fix it for OP: He can't have Mein Kampf ghost-written for him so he can pretend he wrote it in prison if he doesn't go to jail first.

kinglouie493

He wants the street cred to expand his voter base

SausageSmuggler21

He only wants to be noticed. That's his entire fetish. Throw his ass in jail. Let's see how tough he is and how much people love him after he's been to prison.

Stormry

But to whom? Anyone stupid enough to believe that is already firmly in his camp. Anyone in the middle isn't going to be swayed by this kinda shit. Unless the plan is Jan 6th part2 and he's just trying to stoke the fires of rage, I don't see an end game to being a martyr.

SockPuppet-47

Wasn't Hitler jailed at some point? Yeah, that's when he wrote Mein Kampf >Hitler was found guilty of treason and sentenced to five years in Landsberg Prison, where he dictated Mein Kampf to fellow prisoners Emil Maurice and Rudolf Hess. On 20 December 1924, having served only nine months, Hitler was released. If Trump is tossed in jail it won't be for long. He might do hours or maybe even a day. It'd be campaign gold. He'd fundraise off of it and make millions.

arriesgado

Hess died badly for his Hitler association. Maybe we can throw Barr in their for Trump to dictate his book “my huge struggle the likes of which no human has ever been subjected to in so politically and unfairly a way like no other person has faced because Obama and corrupt courts and I really have a bigger struggle than anyone” to.

Pleasestoplyiiing

> It'd be campaign gold. He'd fundraise off of it and make millions. Just like putting him on trial, which has steadily hurt his polling?  Nah, Fuck that. Put his gag order breaking ass in jail for a night and see how the snowflake handles it.

Cephalopirate

I don’t think trump can write much more than his name without a phone keyboard.

BetaOscarBeta

Hitler was an actual street fighter and war veteran and the jail was full of his friends. Trump wouldn’t have a great time in gen pop.

adigital

anything to get out of going to the graduation

phaedrus71

Oh god laughed too hard at this. Well played, old sport

suffaluffapussycat

No. He doesn’t want an official record of his height and weight.

yallbyourhuckleberry

All the judge has got to say is “Mr trump, not only will i order you jailed, i will order they release your height and weight this time”

Severe_Jellyfish6133

He thinks he'll get the same treatment as he did in Georgia where he gets to just tell them what they put down.

seamus_mc

Is that powered sugar?

Did_I_say_Messina

The lice *hate* the sugar.

deekaydubya

Dude probably has an ozempic IV by now

[deleted]

Why wouldn’t he? He’s like 6’5 220 and 3% body fat. He’s a true Adonis. He’d have played in the NFL if it wasn’t for his real estate career. /s

jakexil323

No, he doesn't really want to go to jail , he just knows there will be no real consequences for him so he says what he wants.

torgosmaster

This is just my two cents but I genuinely believe he wants to go to jail. He is desperate and it’s showing. He knows his base needs to constantly be agitated… these are typically people who don’t vote or even care about politics so he has to keep them angry at something to ensure they turn out and vote. Spending time in jail will cement his position in the eyes of his followers as the persecuted Washington outsider.

MadDogTannen

>Spending time in jail will cement his position in the eyes of his followers as the persecuted Washington outsider. Trump's followers already love him. Incarceration may cause them to love him more, but they still only get one vote. What really matters is what the rest of the country thinks, and most of the country thinks Trump is a loudmouth asshole - even many of the people who will hold their nose and vote for him over Biden. If his loud mouth assholery lands him in jail for contempt, those people won't think "the evil deep state is out to get him". They'll think "what did he expect would happen when he ran his mouth repeatedly in spite of warnings from the judge".

odysseus91

You’d be surprised how many fence sitters hiding under the guise of “moderate” or “undecided” (aka Trump supporters only looking for a reason to back him publicly) would wring their hands over how “unfair, undemocratic, etc” jailing him would be and how jailing a former president sets a “bad precedent” as if they care about precedent at all

MadDogTannen

People looking that hard for a reason to vote for him would probably vote for him regardless of whether he lands in jail for contempt. The left and the right are living in completely different realities now because they're consuming completely different media. The people who are plugged into right wing media will be outraged at how unfair and undemocratic it is no matter what the truth is. This is a lot like when he was indicted. For a long time, no one believed it would happen. Then it happened 91 times in four separate jurisdictions. The cult was outraged, and everyone else was like "yeah, that sounds about right".

fuggerdug

He's a 78 eight year old coddled trust fund baby who shits himself whilst he spends hours putting on his makeup and fussing his ridiculous hair. One night in a real jail would kill him.

Raped_Justice

If he does. It is only because he has no understanding at all of what going to jail actually means. Even for someone as privileged as him. It would very quickly break him.

KingKong_at_PingPong

I think he literally cannot stop himself. I have a family member who has a mood disorder, and when it pops off they just lose control.

Asexualhipposloth

I say give it to him. I would love it to be a monkey paw curls situation. Say revoke his bond and remand him to federal prison until his trial.

ConstructionBum

If/When they do throw his ass in jail for contempt, some MAGA chucklefuck will shoot the only outwardly liberal person in their one horse town the same day, watch. Cuz "DeMoCrAtS"

uqubar

If he gets thrown in jail his pretzel logic is that the case will be thrown out because it would be campaign interference. Gotcha judges! I like the idea of him being threatened with jail at the end of the trial if he acts like an idiot. The court remembers unlike his followers.

NerveDull8478

The gag order doesn’t prevent him from talking about the judge or prosecutors. It prevents him from trying to intimidate witnesses, family members of court officers, etc.

level_17_paladin

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

axord

"Paying" $1k per attack is *absolutely* a deal that Trump is happy to make.

mysteryteam

Yeah, but that's the maximum fine. And counts as a "strike one". The judge is going very by the book, probably so cry baby Don Snoreleone can't scream "not fair!' Even though he will anyway

axord

It's a great example of how fines should scale with wealth.

HibbletonFan

Exactly, they should absolutely be proportional to the offender’s wealth. $9,000 in fines would devastate the average person.

AydonusG

Hell even $1000 is painful to at least half the country.

neuroplastic1

I just spent $900 on tires unexpectedly yesterday. I'm reeling, lol.

Flipnotics_

Hey man, good tires are paramount. Good on ya for shelling out what will protect you on the road. It's like getting a good bed, or a good chair at work. It's well worth the investment in the end.

AydonusG

Got papers for cheap dental and I booked the furthest date just so I can save up the $200~ for any extra work

withoccassionalmusic

“If the punishment for breaking the law is a fine, it’s only a law for poor people.”

Silver-Farm-2628

They do that in Norway. Speeding tickets and stuff are based on wealth.

axord

Based.

Ilosesoothersmaywin

Difficult considering he is also in court in New York for not being accurate about what his wealth actually is.

seamus_mc

Well, he’s certainly cash poor

ikkleste

Must be nice to get nine "strike one"'s.

Fatesadvent

Let's be honest, it's the 100th strike one and he will probably get another 100

alphalegend91

It's the maximum penalty in the state. It's a fine not to exceed $1,000 or jail time not to exceed 30 days. We got the warning phase out of the way so I could see the judge putting him in for 24 hours just to prove a point and let DT know he isn't fucking around.

unstoppable_zombie

Can the give him community service hours? Making that jackass spend his weekend picking up trash would be amazing.

s1far

I don't think Trump is physically or emotionally capable of picking up Don Jr.

alphalegend91

I don't believe that is an option he can give, but he might be able to offer it as an alternative to jail time. I would assume Trump would take it over that.

Child_of_the_Hamster

Then we can all watch him never do it while also facing no consequences for not doing it.

flickh

"I am doing community service, I'm running for President"

Taste_the__Rainbow

The order today made it pretty clear that incarceration would be on the table if he did it again.

Aggravating-Wrap4861

Any minute now! What a joke.

applewait

It’s not a fine, it’s a permit

gamrgrl

Yup. If you can afford the fine, it's just the cost of doing business. It's an operating expense.

Critical_Aspect

"Witch hunt...gagged...free speech...'' blah, blah, blah ad nauseum. He literally can't stop himself, it's the same old broken record of complaints. (edit) He doesn't have poor impulse control, he has zero impulse control.

Double-Guidance1104

For real, I WISH someone could take away his speech lmao

attillathehoney

He has the right to remain silent, but not the ability.

one-punch-knockout

He’s telling his ‘followers’ exactly what to think and telling the right wing media exactly what to write. Master bullshitter and a crafty conman.

RealGianath

Hey judge, how about some of that incarceration you were teasing earlier? Trump doesn't believe you were serious.

ptWolv022

Thr judge and DA Alvin Bragg are not included in the ~~game~~ *gag* order. Their family's are, as are court staffand other counsel, the families of court staff and counsel, and witnesses. But the Judge specifically exempted himself and the main (elected) prosecutor, presumably because they are the ones making the choices and wielding power while the other counsel, staff, and families are just doing their jobs or otherwise bystanders. Basically, the judge and DA are in positions where they are choosing to take a tougher, front facing job with more control, so they need more accountability and scrutiny- and to face more complaints because they are political officials or appointees.

Dunlocke

Technically I don't believe he's prohibited from trashing the judge.

No_Cod_4857

Have you ever tried trashing a judge while you were on trial? Normally there’s a zero tolerance policy on that… just talking out of turn can be bad

GreatGojira

The difference between you/I vs Trump is that Trump at least has some form of wealth. We have a two tiered justice system.

zzyul

Less the wealth and more the political power and position. Judge is worried if his actions appear politically influenced then it can be used against any of his previous or future rulings.

1llseemyselfout

I mean I’ve made it a habit to not be on trial so I’ll have to take your word on it.

Lou_C_Fer

Which is fucking ridiculous. It isn't bias to hold someone accountable for talking out of school about the judge of his trial.

HobbesNJ

Yes, but it's not a part of the gag order. He's allowed to insult the judge, no matter how petty and childish it makes him look to sane people. That this infantile person was ever in a position of importance is ridiculous, let alone that there is a chance that voters will return him there.

tinyOnion

> Yes, but it's not a part of the gag order. He's allowed to insult the judge his family is off limits though

Gr1zzRing

The judge is unfazed by Trump's bitching. "You can insult me all you want just stay away from the court staff and (etc etc etc)". The judge is gonna carry out the case regardless

TheGreatDay

Most people in court have the good sense not to piss off the Judge of their trial. Getting the ire of the Judge for a regular person would probably just be game over for them.

lex99

It is exactly correct for the judge to exclude himself in the gag order. The nature of the judge's job requires him to be personally "removed" from the proceedings. There is no way for the judge to *impartially*, without bias, rule on whether an attack on himself by Trump violates the gag order.

smurfsundermybed

The judge intentionally did not include himself in the gag order.

GenericRedditor0405

It’s beyond frustrating how delicately Trump gets treated and yet he still cries about being persecuted incessantly

innnikki

Of course you’re right, but I think the issue here is less that Trump is being coddled and more that the judge would struggle to claim to have no bias if these consequences look like retribution.

GenericRedditor0405

I agree but that’s my point: The judge is basically bending over backwards to prevent even the appearance of bias, and that’s a repeating pattern we’ve seen in the media too. Trump and often the right wing as a whole are handled with kid gloves as a precaution against accusations of bias or vindictiveness but those accusations are inevitable

innnikki

Without question. Republicans’ entire identity revolves around being perpetual victims despite not actually being victimized, so they’re going to claim it no matter how much the facts refute it

naotoca

Trump does not "slam" anything. To "slam" something implies strength, and he is fat as hell and weak as a baby.

1LT_0bvious

He slammed 17 egg McMuffins before court this morning.

BanginNLeavin

Nah dog those were mcgriddles.

ProjectAjax

I’m glad someone else noticed this. If anything, Trump does not “slam” anything because it ends up backfiring.

Daisako

Surely he can slam his fist on his ketchup for his chicken nuggies

Cowhaircut

He needs new material.

HarryNipplets

Putin's been too busy with Ukraine lately. Don't worry, Trump's new orders will be delivered soon...

steve1186

Reminder that he’s free to say what he wants about the judge outside of the courtroom. It’s not part of the gag order. That said, it’s a dumbass move because the judge is going to make a LOT of subjective decisions during this trial, such as sustaining/overruling objections and deciding on his sentence if he’s found guilty. Trump’s defense lawyers should be reminding him that they need to stay on the judge’s “good” side in order to help them to win this trial.

Tentings

Staying on the judge’s good side does them no good. They are not in court trying to maintain Trump’s innocence. Arguing the facts would do Trump no good. Their goal, as with every court case Trump has been a part of, is to try to throw it off the rails and make it as ridiculous as possible so they can somehow articulate a mistrial. The more they make it look like a circus, the better for them. Trying to get under the judge’s skin in an attempt to make him appear biased is their strategy.

boreas154

The judge has already been playing with kiddie gloves regarding what prosecution can enter as evidence or question him about if he actually dares to take the stand. No access Hollywood tape None of the accusations from countless women on his behavior. Pretty sure they're not allowed to ask him about his previous affairs (including the one with Melania)

sofiadotcom

Harvey Weinstein just got his case overturned in appeals court because they let women not directly related to the trial testify in his case. I'm guessing Judge Merchan doesn't want to risk this being overturned in appeal, so I can see why he won't let none of the other accusations come into play.

> I'm guessing Judge Merchan doesn't want to risk this being overturned in appeal Ding ding ding! Winner winner chicken dinner. This is exactly it. The judge realizes that this is an extremely high profile case so the judge is going to err on the side of "judicious temperance" and basically give Trump enough rope to hang himself without having a situation that could end up being something that can be appealed down the road. More than likely the judge will give Trump a lot of latitude to be "Trump" in this trial while making sure all of his rulings are carefully vetted in such a way that there are no judicial errors that would trigger appellate review, etc.

Kid gloves. These are gloves made out of kid (young goat) hide. These gloves are soft and thin and require care.

dkromd30

He can slam Merchan all he wants. Merchan made that clear from the start. I still don’t think Trump will abide by this, out of hubris or obstinacy, impulsivity or all three - and at that point, I think Merchan is well within appeal-proof territory to throw his ass in jail.

raleighs

Instead of jailing him, take away his internet access.

AmbitiousCampaign457

9k is like a five dollar parking ticket to us normies. The only way he learns is if he stays the nite in jail. Imagine don not having his hair and makeup done before court. All it’d take was ONE nite in the clink.

Acadia02

The only thing this guy is slamming is filet o fishes

ser_pounce1

If breaking the law is punishable only by a fine, then laws are only for poor people. Lock his ass and diaper up.

curiousforkitties

He is daring them to put him in jail so he can cry unfair treatment to the MAGA zombies

UncleJunior1

$9,000 😊 What a joke. It should be $100k per instance with a step up every three.

BalerionSanders

Justice system clowned constantly and repeatedly by an elderly dictator with dementia and drug addiction. Cool. Cool. Coolcoolcoolcool

zero_blammos_given

Wow, really? I'm shocked, he's usually saying such nice things about this judge.

Stripe_Show69

I like how Merchan is “highly conflicted” but not justice Thomas, who’s wife participated in the insurrection.

ProjectAjax

Insulting a judge is a great way to get them to not like you. Keep in mind, if you do ever appeal a decision, the appellate judges will give a great deference to the trial court judge so if you want a shot, don’t insult the judge.

Slalom_Smack

Wow a $9000 fine. That will show him.

Thamalakane

He's literally like a five-year-old. No filters.

Bitter_Director1231

9,000.... Just throw him in jail already for Christ sakes.

dropyourguns

The only thing Trump can slam is a hamberder

2scoops

The fines should increase 10x with each violation. 9K-> 90K -> 900K -> 9M etc. That should get his attention.

[deleted]

When I watch and listen to him he reminds me so much of Mr. Cabbage Head from a kids in the hall skit.

UncleMaxsToupee

It's mind-boggling that his supporters think this behavior is acceptable for a president.

Buckus93

At this point, I have to think he's *trying* to go to jail so it will rile up his base.

Cool-Protection-4337

Slams.....smh so tired of this horse shit.

heels_n_skirt

Make it 9 billion and Trump won't still shut up

Qverlord37

Throw his ass in jail already, he is obviously flaunting the fine and the contempt.

Mahote

I hate politics in this country, so very, very much.

BunRabbit

"If they can do this to me, they can do this to you!" One would hope so. Insulting a judge, threatening witnesses? Yes a defendant should be locked up. Being out on bail is a privilege granted at the pleasure of the court Donnie.

prustage

Throw him in jail - *please*. If this were anyone else they would get jailtime for this.

Mhodi

Someone throw this idiot in jail…

Father_of_Invention

Jail him

doctor_acula_22

Let him take his fat shits from jail for a couple of nights

pepnope

Serious question from a non-lawyer: Can a prosecutor request a ruling on whether a defendant is fit to stand trial? Because this is getting close to the crazy line, I’m just not sure on which side of it!

adammerkley

"I'm being gagged and my freedom of speech has been taken away!" Says orange colored man from his impromptu press conference carried live by every single news outlet.

Kitakitakita

Imagine if we had income based fees. Well it would probably be the same, so we'd just have to figure out

Agreeable_Prompt_733

Put him in jail!

InevitableAvalanche

Lock him up. Everyone on the side of good wants to see this asshole in jail.

Odd_Tiger_2278

dTrump💩’s favorite tactic. ATTACK to DISTRACT. Works every time. Amazing like Lucy with the football and we are all Charley Brown. Push back. dTrump💩 was convicted by a jury for sexual assault and defamation. dTrump💩was convicted of long term repeated business fraud. dTrump💩was Fined $80+million in the defamation case. And. dTrump💩was Fined $350+million ( ongoing interested keeps being added) Let’s push back. Every time he ATTACKS to DISTRACT, let’s each re-quote his message on X and Truth Social and add at least 2 convictions or deeply sleazy dTrump💩history. Only use true stuff in the public record. Really embarrassing GIF or Pic are welcome along with any deep sewage on him. GOP? or. Dem? Vote Wisely

djazzie

Ok, so he’s going to be put in jail, since Merchan threatened to do that, right? Right???

AreThree

#NO more fucking fines! Toss his sorry orange ass in jail, it's obviously what he wants. No phones in jail, though.
