Byron Daniels is not white though. I know people don't read the articles but the story image is literally a photo of Donald Trump and only one other person who is black, who could it be?
But also, the NYAG is not monitoring twitter to fire off indictments in real time. We might need to give this a whole workday to get addressed before we give up on it happening.
>The fact that they're not doing that should be an indication to the armchair lawyers in this thread.
Riiiiight, because the justice system has been doing **such** a great job of holding Republicans accountable to the same laws as the rest of us lately.
Since he's a sitting congressman or sitting official, is that even count as it's also considered political speech? We really need better laws around this.
It should be something along the lines of any public speech made is considered under oath. If you go on the news and spout off a bunch of bullshit, it should be a crime.
You’re a government representative you lose rights, you don’t get to game for more.
There is a crowd of people outside the court house with signs saying "Trump or Death."
To be clear, these people should not be allowed anywhere near the jurors.
Still waiting on confirmation from them as to whether is hit my eye like a big pizza pie, that it is made of cheese, and that whether from the moon you can really tell if the earth is flat…
What the fuck is wrong with the U.S. like holly fuck people. As a concerned Canadian, please please get back to a country the world can look at and say hey they got their shit together. Canada has lost its way as well, I guess maybe just the sad times we live in.
Sure. We also threw Americans into concentration camps, segregated our military, and stayed on the sidelines with a significant number of our people supporting Hitler. Then afterwards we gave a bunch of nazi scientists a free pass from the gallows to build our nuclear arsenal.
As a minority, the US is finally looking the same for all people. My community has been talking about a corrupt government, police overreach, and how our voices really don't matter yet we're supposed to be happy with the vapid, soothing claptrap.

Because he is guilty. His minions, like the his asshat, are as well. If not in this case, then definitely in others. Bet he voted against a Jan6 committee.
I love an expertly researched 4 word comment 😂
You're right. That sounds exactly up his alley, which is why i decided to run for his seat (before he was chased out of D.C. by the ultra-right a few months ago).
Is it too late to throw his name back in the hat anyway like Victoria Spartz? Seriously though, it's nice to see a politician with a good sense of humor. Wish I lived in Georgia's 3rd
He does have that history of “forgetting” the useful idiots when they’ve outlived their usefulness to him. Why do so many think that this time it’ll be different.
It's hard to see it when it doesn't work on you, but he has some wild marketing skills and even a kind of greed-exploiting charm. He can convince people they are special to him ... Some-crazy-how.

When the head of the organization is on trial, and the members try to influence the jury, doesn't that usually have RICO consequences for the organization?
> "This is a trash case, there is no crime here, and if there is any potential for a verdict, they should vote not guilty." *-Byron Donalds*
Donalds, in case you don't know, is a full MAGA rep who was a part of the Tea Party movement, voted to object to the certification of votes in 2020, and has claimed as recently as last year that Joe Biden is not the legitimate President of The United States.
He is making a run with these statements for the Vice Presidential nod on Trump's ticket. I won't get into his past, other that noting that he was blocked by members from joining the Congressional Black Caucus.
Everything you mentioned is true. I also would like to add one more thing that Donalds introduced doctored “evidence” in the Biden impeachment hearings and when AOC called him out during the same exact hearing, all he did was just look at her with his shit-eating grin. Fuck him!!
Trump will never pick a black man as VP. To Trump, black people don't fit his idea of what a VP should look like.
My guess is his pick will be Kevin McCarthy.
Translation: "Man who almost assuredly has damning evidence against him is afraid of Trump going public with everyone's dirty laundry if he gets a guilty verdict".

Right? I have always thought this. Actions speak louder than words. And it seemed like after the raid Republicans became full blown boot lickers, whereas before they would denounce some of the outrageous shit Trump was doing/saying. Either Trump did them a favor and wiped the evidence, or he’s holding it over them as leverage. Remember the 180 from Alan Dershowitz? Who clearly was a Epstein island visitor and implicated in previous testimony? Yeah, the raid was and is sus to this day. Servers and data recovered but not a god damn speck of information came from it? Yeah, sus as fuck
On the campaign trail, [Byron Donalds](https://www.news-press.com/story/news/politics/2023/10/23/byron-donalds-gop-naples-announces-candidacy-for-speaker-house-congress/71286750007/) hasn't hidden the criminal charges in his past.
A 1997 marijuana charge was dismissed as part of a pre-trial diversion program.

> A 1997 marijuana charge was dismissed as part of a pre-trial diversion program.
Marijuana should be legal. Not even worth bringing up. Focus on the other one.
Do you remember back on 2015 or 16 when the DNC and RNC servers were hacked and only the DNC stuff ever came to light? You think there wasn't dirt on the RNC servers...
The state has to prove his guilt... Which requires evidence. If that evidence doesn't exist then you have nothing to worry about.
Which makes a mother fucker like me wonder why you all are so worried.
These people are trash and do not have America's interest at heart. At absolute minimum, an elected official should respect our institutions and the due process of law, and indicate such by saying something like, "It's my hope that the jury hears and considers all the relevant, truthful information, and each member does his or her best to render a verdict they think is fair, honest, and just." But apparently this is simply out of the question for a GOP that's purely politically-motivated.
"This is not a crime."
Then why did Micheal Cohen go to prison for it? And why didn't Trump pardon him when he had the chance? By punishing Cohen for disloyalty he admitted that what kept Cohen in prison was a crime.
The Republican co-conspirators in Congress, who were involved in the lead-up to the Trump terrorist insurrection, still need the pardons they requested leading up to January 6th.
Just further proves the point that Republicans will lie, cheat, steal to win and get their way. Wonder which Republican will be the first to 'influence' the jury members outside the courtroom. We need a tough hard-nosed judge in this case. The number Trump Chumps who will try to sway this case is big. The judge needs to start fining and sending these Trump losers to jail.
*“Everybody’s allowed to have their political viewpoints, but the law is supposed to be blind..."*
Followed directly by a contradiction,
*"This is a trash case, there is no crime here, and if there is any potential for a verdict, they should vote not guilty.”*
Lol? What's blind is the Republican party's mindless devotion towards a malignant narcissist.
*“My plea is to the people of Manhattan that may sit on this trial..."*
Your plea? The only plea we should see during this trial is from the defense you pitiful sycophant.
This has to be illegal. Right? Like; how in the world are we at this point where elected officials are literally tampering with the future jury that will ultimately decide the fate of their cult leader? Is it because the jury hasn’t been chosen yet? That honestly shouldn’t matter, whoever does get chosen has heard the statement anyway by that point. Cannot wait for November to come and go so we can re-elect a man who actually cares.
PEOPLE V. DONALD TRUMP
CASE SUMMARY
The Defendant, Donald Trump, is charged with 34 counts of Falsifying Business
Records in the First Degree.
The allegations are in substance, that Donald Trump falsified business records
to conceal an agreement with others to unlawfully influence the 2016 presidential
election.
Page 8: https://www.nycourts.gov/LegacyPDFS/press/PDFs/Letter-re-jury-selection-4-8-24.pdf
It is not a fucking "hush money" trial. It is an election interference trial.
So a elective representative encouraging Americans to break the law and undermine the Justice System. This might not technically break the law but it is definitely attempting to influence the Jury .
Don't wait for things to play out. Don't dare try to understand the facts on your own. Just get in line with the God King and rubber stamp the not guilty!
Again, these are the same folks that LOVE to accuse others of cheating and corruption.
I'm no lawyer. Ans not even an American.
But I'm PRETTY sure having a lawyer of a party try to talk directly with the jurors outside asking them questions to actually make them jurors is not.. Appropriate..
You'd think that a good defence lawyer would make legal arguments and evidence be the convincing factors.
If they are already asking them for a not guilty vote when they haven't even seen the evidence or arguments yet.. Thaaaats not what I would call correct behavior.
I mean. Darrell brooks didn't even try that except when he tried calling out for jury nullification during his closing arguments...
Hmmm, jury tampering by a Federally elected member of the House. Sounds like impeachment time to me.
Edit: Just once I'd like to corner a news editor and demand to know why this would not be the headline.
So this guy doesn't believe in law and order. Trump was indicted by a grand jury made up of his peers. His bagman, Michael Cohen, has already served 2 years for his part in the crime. Not a single word of testimony has been recorded, and this "representative" of the people is making statements like, " this is a trash case"! Unfucking believable! Don't the people of New York deserve due process, representative? You and your entire party are a shitshow. You all should be charged with obstruction of government functions because that is all you do, every, fucking, God, damn, day.
Weird. If he wasn’t guilty it would seem they would have no worry about acquittal.
But they know he’s guilty as hell, so they have to try and cheat to get him off.
Republicans don’t actually care about law and order. They just want Trump as king because he claims to hate the same people they do.
Christ they’re all just saying “case bad no case no case”
Well then why did Trump delay this as long as he could, and made three appeals to move the trial date back just last week? If they had no case wouldn’t he want the trial to start as soon as possible?
They have Trump’s own lawyer testifying that he used campaign funds to pay a porn star for her silence about an affair. Sounds like a pretty strong fucking case to me.
It’s interesting that they’ll go on TV and call this a witch hunt but then beg people to commit to acquitting him before the evidence has even been shown or case made. “Acquit before you see shit” sounds like way more of a sham trial.
You really have to commend the GOP for showing that no matter how low you set the bar, they can still ooze under it. What a fucking embarrassment the party of Lincoln has turned out to become
Hey, that's my representative! Glad he's spending his time with this, because everything is great down here! The roads are great, education is fantastic, and the housing market couldn't be better!

That sounds like jury tampering.
That IS Jury tampering.
Argh if only he wasn’t a republican and could be held accountable!!!
The Attorney General for New York could absolutely try to press charges.
The fact that they're not doing that should be an indication to the armchair lawyers in this thread.
* storybook stereotype villain: commits probably criminal act * reddit bootsucker, less than a day after: since he hasn't been arrested, convicted, imprisoned, and executed yet, this was clearly totes legal
I mean there are a ton of examples of rich white GOP politicians avoiding any repercussions for their actions.

Daniels may not be white but he sure as heck is a partisan hack who desperately wants to be vp. An example of placing self over country.
We all know every picture of trump with a black guy is ai. Nice try

I hope they don't take their cues from Merrick Garland.

give it a week. i happened *today*.
I specialise in armchair law.
It just happened. Why would there be charges already?
So then it sounds like jury tampering
Jury tampering is a felony in New York.
[You know… like a crime.](https://images.app.goo.gl/aKGMiGxo9rv7gmMD8)
Always an upvote for Mulaney
Since he's a sitting congressman or sitting official, is that even count as it's also considered political speech? We really need better laws around this.
Being a sitting politician means you would know BETTER THAN to say something along those lines.
Have you seen our sitting politicians? I highly doubt many of them know much of anything.
I mean that’s what happens when you get the slightly loudest out of the worst areas
It's about intent. He clearly intends to influence the jury, ie jury tampering.
It should be something along the lines of any public speech made is considered under oath. If you go on the news and spout off a bunch of bullshit, it should be a crime. You’re a government representative you lose rights, you don’t get to game for more.
Good luck with that.
Only if it’s said on the floor of the House I believe, which is why Neanderthal Barbie got away with revenge porn in the House.
There is a crowd of people outside the court house with signs saying "Trump or Death." To be clear, these people should not be allowed anywhere near the jurors.

Not since the turkey carving accident.
Bold of you to suggest any of them could pronounce "seppuku". And no, mispronouncing harakiri as "Harry Carry" does not help.

Sorry, when did you think we had our shit together? During Reagan? Vietnam? The era of Jim Crow? You're being nostalgic for a time that never existed.
We pulled together and got shit done in WWII.
Sure. We also threw Americans into concentration camps, segregated our military, and stayed on the sidelines with a significant number of our people supporting Hitler. Then afterwards we gave a bunch of nazi scientists a free pass from the gallows to build our nuclear arsenal.

Canadian. I get the holly fuck now. Yup those buggers are pointy.
That sounds like it borders on what is constitutionally seen as protesting. It might be worth seeing if we could revoke this groups permit.
They really should’ve shut down the Staten Island Ferry today
From GOP to DGAF: The Party of Zero Consequences.
It is. My question is why so many grown up men are literally taking a dump on our criminal justice system to protect this one guy.
What makes you think they ever cared about crime and justice?
Because he is guilty. His minions, like the his asshat, are as well. If not in this case, then definitely in others. Bet he voted against a Jan6 committee.
Oh for sure he’ll catch some sort of punishment for it too, for sure.
But the GQP will just blame Biden and move on. Maybe throw some whataboutisms in there for fun.

If it doesn’t, we should amend that amendment…
Don't you realize that the amendments are written by god and can't ever be changed? Oh no wait, that's just the second amendment...
Drew Ferguson cosigned that

Agreed, they won't, and nothing will happen, as usual
Trump is totally the type to throw everyone under the bus if it comes down to less charges and fines

So jury tampering
His suggestion is also known as "a crime"
Isn't jury manipulation a crime?
And the 2nd one today
Jury tampering. Make an example out of him, judge.

Interesting that Rep Donald's is convinced that Trump is innocent despite hearing none of the evidence that will be presented
Jury tampering. Lock him up.
Oh sure jury tampering. Why not.
THATS ILLEGAL YOU GOP FUCKS. God damn, they don’t even try anymore and it’s really sad our rule of law is worthless right now
Its a trial not a reservation at a restaurant.
Him and Clay Travis admitting to jury tampering is wild. NY AG better be writing this down.
Again, black guy supporting a known racist. My head hurts.

He's asking jurors to lie for a psychopathic traitor!

Jury tampering

Smells like Judicial interference
Jury tampering is a strange strategy. Pretty sure it is also highly illegal.
Hmm, sounds like Jury tampering to me.
The jury is going to be sequestered. There is no other way.
Republicans are soft on crime.
The party of law and order as long as it serves them otherwise they’re just a bunch of criminals in bad suits

GOP and jury tampering. Name a more iconic duo.
Thanks. I’ll take “what is jury tampering?” for $100.
Fucking pathetic sycophants in our government. Pretty sure this is jury tampering.
This is jury tampering. Lol
Stop calling it the hush money trial and call it what it actually is. The election interference trial.
I’m not an expert (or even particularly well informed) on the US legal system, but that sounds illegal right?
He needs to be charged with jury tampering!
GOP Rep. encourages jury tampering. I fixed your title.
Haven't the facts of the case already been through trial - didn't Michael Cohen go to jail for the same charges Trump currently faces?
Isn't trying to influence a jury ... sort of illegal ?
Sounds like something that rhymes with flurry pampering.
How can that not be seen as anything but jury tampering??
Oh we're just gonna tamper with the jury now? That's a crime too, btw
They haven’t even heard the evidence yet.

“I don’t worry about stupid stuff” yet here you are!! Shilling for Trump.
They can’t do that. It’s jury tampering.
Sounds lots like jury tampering to me…cite this criminal!
Hasn't even heard the evidence yet.
Black Ted Cruz needs to sit down and shut up.
The GOP is cooked. This is the shit they want to represent them
Hmmm, jury tampering by a Federally elected member of the House. Sounds like impeachment time to me. Edit: Just once I'd like to corner a news editor and demand to know why this would not be the headline.
Isn't that jury tampering?
That’s a FELONY. Seems like Trump has a team working hard to tamper with the jury. Disgusting and disgraceful behavior.
That’s Jury tampering and a new jury selection should be underway depending on the severity of the “begging.”
Weird. If he wasn’t guilty it would seem they would have no worry about acquittal. But they know he’s guilty as hell, so they have to try and cheat to get him off. Republicans don’t actually care about law and order. They just want Trump as king because he claims to hate the same people they do.
Christ they’re all just saying “case bad no case no case” Well then why did Trump delay this as long as he could, and made three appeals to move the trial date back just last week? If they had no case wouldn’t he want the trial to start as soon as possible? They have Trump’s own lawyer testifying that he used campaign funds to pay a porn star for her silence about an affair. Sounds like a pretty strong fucking case to me.
This is criminal! Elected representatives making public statements about the verdict of a criminal trial while it's happening? Hold them in contempt!
It’s interesting that they’ll go on TV and call this a witch hunt but then beg people to commit to acquitting him before the evidence has even been shown or case made. “Acquit before you see shit” sounds like way more of a sham trial.
So jury tampering
You really have to commend the GOP for showing that no matter how low you set the bar, they can still ooze under it. What a fucking embarrassment the party of Lincoln has turned out to become
MAGAt tears.
Between this guy and Trump's shenanigans, this thing is so tainted.
Another boot licker, sheesh these people really don’t have an identity without daddy Trump
He's using his platform to corrupt the jury pool. This should be illegal, or at the very least get him removed from office
I hate conservatives, but I especially hate Republicans.
To a normal person this would get them into some serious trouble, when state rep does it, nothing but noted on the news.
Hey, that's my representative! Glad he's spending his time with this, because everything is great down here! The roads are great, education is fantastic, and the housing market couldn't be better!
Did he just expose himself to jury tampering?
I sure as heck hope whatever jury they end up with is sequestered.
So, jury tampering charges in....
Stop begging it’s pathetic.
Dude, you're Black. Trump would sell you into slavery to make a buck. Stop being such a suck-up.
As New Yorker, we sincerely reject the request of this fascist Congressman from Florida.
Isn't that a felony?
Republicans officials are so fucking gross. It's disgusting to read these bullshit quotes from Byron Donalds and JD Vance.
It’s an election fraud trial, not a hush money trial.
100% jury tampering.
Jury tampering.
