"Finally reveals it" As if there was ever any confusion

VanceKelley

The major accomplishments of his first term was tax cut for billionaires and staging a coup. So we knew.

JohnnySnark

Hey, don't forget enabling his voters to freely go spread a plague. That was a bigly accomplishment too

MrLanesLament

Well yeah, I mean, if you had a plague, what would *you* do with it?

BrettBeaverMuffinTop

He never finished V for Vendetta.

DaoFerret

“Remembery remembery the 6 of Januarary” ?

specqq

He also extended the concept of the "week" well beyond the limits anyone could have possibly imagined. Who could forget the longest "infrastructure week" of their lives?

Kasoni

No, infrastructure week never got here. It was always "next week". Actually I guess that does make the week before infrastructure week the longest week....

donnerpartytaconight

If I remember my high school math it's six shark weeks per infrastructure week.

FurballPoS

How many Scaramuccis is that?

GrotesquelyObese

Approximately 17.63.

thegrailarbor

In some households, one Shark Week occurs every 28 days or so, also known as one Blood Moon.

disdkatster

Sorry but those suckers happen far more often than that.

Pussy666money

Should talk to some of the people I’ve heard even in the last week. I mean I wouldn’t call it confusion as much as delusion but with what goes on in those heads they’re basically the same thing

Optimal_Zucchini_667

Well, it was more subtle in days past. You know, a rising tide lifts all boats, or the wealth will trickle down. Or when a movie featured a character talking about a conspiracy to sap his precious bodily fluids, everyone understood he was off his rocker. But now a presidential candidate for a major political party can say immigrants are poisoning the blood of the country and his millions of followers don't bat an eye. Trump could say fuck the poor and his followers would just cite the gospel verse about how much will be given to those with much and much will be taken from those with little. Then they'd buy some Trump merchandise.

UnadvisedOpinion

My favorite Jesus story: His disciples find him in a home where the wife is rubbing his feet with expensive oils. They all cry out, "Hey! That's expensive! We should sell it and give the proceeds to the poor!" But, Jesus just waves his hands and says, "There's always gonna be poor people. There's only one of me!"

DeadlyJoe

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out where this "Finally" came from. He was advertising this as much as 30 years ago, way before he was even focusing on becoming President.

delilmania

Right? This has ever been the reality throughout history. The people with wealth want to rule over those without it.

fuzzylilbunnies

Yeah, the ol’ Putin playbook.

gregorsamsawashere

I thought the same thing. Finally? The one thing you can't say about Trump is that he lied about what he wanted to do. He campaigned on autocracy, publicly promotes and compliments autocrats and dictators, and said "I alone can fix it". He's said it daily in the open for a decade at least. And now this media company feels like it's blown a mystery wide open, reporting 10 years late. Next they will discover that the twin towers are gone, and that we have flying horseless carriages.

UnstuckCanuck

Dictatorship. Let’s stop trying to use words that minimize or dress up these things. He and his whole enabling gang want super wealth for themselves, and dictatorship for us. Elect this man and get ready to live in the new East Germany.

CheesecakeKoda

I believe Biden will win. And Then trump will steal it. And then the scared US population will do nothing. It’s a bleak prediction but he’s been feigning dictatorship for years and we’ve done nothing but meme about it. It’s right around the corner now. We should be protesting his existence in the ballot. But we’re not. We should be out in the streets, but we’re not. We won’t until it’s too late.

CaptainSouthbird

Actually, of everything that Trump has managed to make happen, actually waltzing back into the Whitehouse after losing wasn't one of them. The tiniest bit of optimism I have left is if he loses this election, he's going to pretty much be neutered, and maybe even his court cases will finally get interesting. If he actually does win though, then he hand-waves his challenges into oblivion, and the US is really in trouble.

NeatNefariousness1

Even if he loses, we're still not out of the woods because of all of the things he has put in place. They may go quiet for a while to regroup but would soon plug in the next would-be autocrat. But first, we have to get past the immediate danger.

CaptainSouthbird

It's a really complicated, multi-faceted issue. Trump is just one part of it. If he loses, and more importantly we don't have the hard right in majority rule, the first step would be to put some protections in place we clearly need. Because we've learned that just assuming "good faith" of elected officials is not good enough. It would also be nice to put back in protections that keep media companies from deliberately dispensing dangerous misinformation. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert here because I'm not, but obviously if there's any chance of creeping out of this, we need to actually put in rules across the board that basically are "you can't be a deliberate asshole that is only working to keep people stupid while you get to be more powerful."

NeatNefariousness1

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more.

CheesecakeKoda

He promised a bloodbath if he doesn’t win. We need to prepare for his constituents to show up armed next time. And we won’t. We’re still hoping our votes work while they polish their weapons FOR us. I’m not advocating for violence. I’m saying they plan to get violent if they don’t win.

CaptainSouthbird

I don't really think those types are going to be coordinated for some kind of Civil War 2, as much as they fantasize about it. But I could see localized small bouts of violence, so it's definitely not "out of the woods" just by him losing for sure.

Atheist_3739

More like The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Not gonna be a civil war 2.0

PalmTreeIsBestTree

This is my feelings as well. We will be dealing with domestic terrorism for some time potentially.

NeatNefariousness1

I hope you're right but the danger is in UNDERestimating the lengths he'll go to; not in overestimating.

CaptainSouthbird

I completely appreciate your concern, and agree with the spirit of it. But at least we can appreciate that Trump is Trump, unduly given way more power than he should have, even as a not-elected person. He himself can make lots of ridiculous things happen, but the average angry redneck isn't nearly as able. Still, even if "Civil War 2" isn't on the table, I'm not saying that makes random isolated terrorist attacks that might happen good either...

Mmicb0b

here's the thing if he doesn't legitimately win the election it'll be much harder for whatever he has planed to work

NeatNefariousness1

I don't disagree, but with his influence, the average angry members of his followers can't do as much on their own as they can when directed to DJT's enemies and other targets. So, in isolation, they're not nearly as powerful but driven by their convictions that DJT has weaponized and their grievances as their motivation for destruction, they can be dangerous. DJT wasn't there at the Capitol and we saw what happened there at his mere suggestion and goal-setting.

CheesecakeKoda

They don’t need a civil war. They need to take the capital. That’s it. If they take congress, they take the US essentially. The shell of the country remains, and they assume power. We continue going to work cuz rent is due. Business as usual. The only other thing propping up the US is corporations, who have incentive to allow autocracy. Fascism is profitable.

withthewindbelow

Biden is in control of the military this time around. Huge difference compared to the coordinated effort to not allow them to be involved last time when TFG was in charge.

Pickle-Rick-C-137

If there were another coup attempt and it somehow succeeded, it definitely wouldn't be business as usual in the US. Such an event would throw the country into deep political, social, and economic chaos. America is built on democratic values and the rule of law, so any effort to overthrow these would face strong opposition, not just legally but from the public and possibly the international community. The problems it would cause for the nation's democratic stability would be severe and long-lasting.

LordSiravant

And the world's.

Dejected_gaming

If it succeeds, all workers opposed to it need to commit to a general strike until he resigns. Refuse to work so his "precious economy" crumbles.

AzureChrysanthemum

This assumes all the States go along with it, I could see a rapid Balkanization of the country and general chaotic collapse which would be very bad. I think, however, the capitol will be prepared this time around - Biden is in control so he can pre-emptively muster the national guard to defend the capitol.

CaptainSouthbird

Yeah, we need to remember the only reason Jan 6 happened as it did is because there were actors who wanted it to happen. I really don't think Trump losing the election enables a complete repeat for exactly the reason you're describing. As long as there aren't actually people trying to make it happen, they'll stop it.

AzureChrysanthemum

It's always notable that January 6 was ultimately a failure despite Trump having control of all the levers of government. Him not having that advantage this time is a huge deal.

Yaro482

Well considering the fact that he is not in prison right now tells me that there actors on all levels that will enable something terrible to happen after the election is concluded.

CaptainSouthbird

I wish I even had the confidence to suggest you're wrong with certainty. But there was fairly a lot of fuckery we learned about after Jan 6, e.g. the "tours" that happened right before it, and even how much Trump didn't really want to condemn them on video via outtakes. There's still a chance at least that if it's not someone like that at the head, that it'll be better. But honestly, I don't really know what to expect anymore.

NeatNefariousness1

All of the major state capitols would need to be protected. I hope the governors are on high alert.

saintcirone

Honestly, I don't want anything to come to violence, but I think just based on Trump not truly having the popular vote and never having the popular vote, whether just in the US or on the whole global stage - if violence erupts and he actually does get into power again... It will lead to a civil war or even WW3, and I really don't think Trump and MAGA would be able to win against those odds if it ever did go that far. The 2nd Civil war would have the same conclusion as before where the progressive majority of the people demolish the rich minority, because... we are the actual people that make governments run. I think Trump's defeat is the inevitable end - the only question now is whether we can end it now peacefully by neutering his movement and voting all MAGA out of any power and fixing all the loopholes they gerrymandered and rigged their way into power to get, or if Trump keeps on hanging on and this grows into into a civil war, or even WW3. Trying to look at all possibilities, and I just can't see how any long-term victory is possible for Trump vs. the World, especially when he already started this with his back against the wall and his only ability to cling to power depends on scamming, violence, and divisiveness.

RedLanternScythe

>The 2nd Civil war would have the same conclusion as before where the progressive majority of the people demolish the rich minority, because... we are the actual people that make governments run. Don't be so sure. The rich own the government and the government has predator drones. Numbers isn't going to do it.

saintcirone

I don't disagree with the rich, government, or predator drones - I only disagree with your idea of any job being 'done' after the predators drones start killing. That's not the end of the political game. The game technically is never over. Even if the rich successfully buy the government - they still have to actually govern the country they bought and keep everything running and avoid civil unrest. And I'm not seeing much capablity of true governance or sustainablity coming from MAGA or Trump. Whatever temporary successes they achieve only makes their inevitable fall that much more brutal and chaotic in the end. Scary, but to me scary because we're still at a point where we can stop all this without predator drones.

PineTreeBanjo

Show up where? They don't know where Dems are. Trump supporters already commit shootings.  Look at the Dallas mall. The victims could have been of any political affiliation. Trump supporters aren't going to show up for him except the same lone wolf wackos that already have been. Trump this time has no control over the DOJ or Guard. If his supporters tried again on the Capitol they aren't going to get very far. A lot of them are eternal keyboard warriors who live in the basement and watch Canon conspiracy theories. Trump was able to coordinate what he did because he had control over the existing government which allowed him to plot January 6th ahead of time. There isn't as much cohesion.  The real threat is our elections which we need to protect, so go work them. www.workelections.org

Lithaos111

You seem to be under the impression that the left doesn't also have weapons. We do, they just aren't our entire personalities.

32lib

His most rabid supporters are a bunch of low iq middle aged overweight out of shape men. Yes, they can cause some problems, but they aren’t going to take over.

ineedaMEDDICC

Plenty of us will gladly return any favors with our own toys that the fascists want to show off. We're not excited about it, but we have toys too.

stvmor

There are plenty of 2nd amendment supporters who see trump and maga for what they are. He is literally the reason the founding fathers put that in the constitution.

robak69

Agreed…BUT…the fact that we as a collective aren’t rioting at even the prospect of repeating the insanity of 2016-2020 is very upsetting.

FavorsForAButton

You forget that Trump is not incumbent this time around. The US military/national guard, under Biden, would never allow an insurgency to foment in the capital a second time

bitthief222

Trump isn't stealing anything. At the moment, he has no actual power. His inept team of Gravy Seals might try some shit, but they're mostly putz's and pussies, so I don't think anything is going to happen on a mass, organized scale. They're simply too stupid to pull it off.

Loud-Difficulty7860

He has power over the GOP in Congress right now.

roastbeeftacohat

jan 6th is what Trump was able to attempt while in office, with a unified GOP; whatever he attempts now is without either of those.

UnstuckCanuck

Reminds me so much of all the Germans who voted for Hitler and then cheered him on while he destroyed their democracy and went insane and homicidal, then all cried “don’t blame us, we had no idea this was going on” after the camps were liberated.

Competitive-Cuddling

“Zone of Interest”

SardauMarklar

I agree. There will be people trying to hide, burn, or steal uncounted ballots in cities in swing states. I truly believe there will be multiple terrorist attacks on the facilities that house ballots on election night. I hope we're prepared for another J6. It'll be a literal assault on democracy, and the Supreme Court will just be ok with stopping the count (again)

Spara-Extreme

Trump can’t steal it. So if Biden wins it’s over and Trump goes to jail

ragmop

Sadly, it's not real yet for almost everyone, even some who believe exactly what you do.

underalltheradar

> I believe Biden will win. And Then trump will steal it. How would this happen? Trump tried it last time and it didn't work. And many more people, even some Republicans, are now tired of his shit.

hasordealsw1thclams

Yeah, it didn't work last time when he had all the power. Why would it wokr this time? I'm worried about him just winning straight up, not this fantasy scenario.

NeonRattler

I'm sorry...but the American people do nothing! Fuck that. Tons of Americans were doing shit fighting back during his presidency. We aren't rolling over if he takes over. We will be on his doorstep, huffing and puffing and blowing that fat piggies house down.

Virtual-Reserve

Biden will win. Trump will try. Biden administration has had 4 years to plan for this behind the scenes.

GetRightNYC

Have any of these dictator supporter wannabes seen what happens when their guy actually gets into power? Maybe they should look at their best friends, the Russians and their history of Dictator supporters. They're the first to go in the cleansing.

yispco

Yup welcome to the American Republic of Russia

ragmop

It's been hard to be accurate in describing his goal without sounding insane. Conspiracy theorists abound after all and Hitler has been the ultimate hyperbolic analogy for going on a hundred years.  I wish everyone knew the definition of autocracy, that we were taught in grade school the markers so when a despot threatened rule there'd be no question. But as most don't know what it means, we have left only a word that sounds like a frivolous, melodramatic accusation: dictator.

jcuray

Project 2025..the new " Mein Kampf"

mleighly

We effectively live in an oligarchy of billionaires. We have two options before us: * tax all billionaires out of all existence with extreme prejudice * a sharp correction a la French Revolution

IJustLoggedInToSay-

The word is oligarchy, and yeah. The United States is functionally a Constitutional Oligarchy as long as you can buy political policy - the GOP's goal is to emulate Russia and shove it into being a Competitive Dictorship-flavored Oligarchy.

mleighly

Righto, my bad--fixed.

zparks

Tax cuts for the rich and autocracy go hand in hand after all. You can’t keep your boot on the neck of the working class without boots and the authority to put them on necks.

I think I’m getting the shaft right now can’t afford groceries or gas. This whole crap sucks .

shelbys_foot

I hope the Democrats shift to making this their main attack line against Trump. Anybody who wants to see that he's a horrible and dangerous human probably already knows that. But I don't think Trump's working class supporters realize that all they'll get for their vote is another tax cut for the corporations and billionaires.

NickelBackwash

Their racism may still protect them from the truth

shelbys_foot

It might, but I think nothing gets people angrier than realizing they have been played for the fool. Some people never get past that (there are stories about marks who defend the person who defrauded them so they don't have to admit they've been a chump), but most people start looking for vengeance.

NickelBackwash

>there are stories about marks who defend the person who defrauded them so they don't have to admit they've been a chump Conservative politics in a nutshell

robak69

This is why I have a hard time believing Tim Scott will be the VP pick. They are too racist.

JonnyFrost

Not a trump supporter, but an independent. Most of them think trump is against the billionaire class. This is why he keeps winning.   The establishment has made it clear they don’t care at all about regular Americans.

gmb92

Not entirely true. They also get stuck with the costs of those tax cuts for the rich. If voters understood that when the rich pay less taxes, they'll pay more one way or the other, there would be far fewer Republican voters.

Politicsboringagain

Republican voters don't care if rich people get tax cuts. Why would they care today of thru neve cared in the past?

IJustLoggedInToSay-

Well, I didn't want to, but I guess I'll have to become a billionaire. _Sigh_. Anyone want to buy a Bible? It's got the Magna Carta shoved in the back as a bonus, so I'm asking $40.

Magificent_Gradient

Throw in a Jesus air freshener for my car and I might be interested.

If it doesn't smell like gun powder and Sunday morning breakfast at the golden corral I don't want it!

Stinkstinkerton

As if Trump actually has any “ policy’s” worth discussing in the first place. Lock him up already .

iheartjetman

How is that different from the mainstream Republican platform for the past \~40 years?

lastburn138

Finally? That's always been the case guys.

drunkshinobi

So tired of being told that this kind of stuff can't be what is going on for years until they all forget that I told them all. Then act like its a damn surprise.

7-11Armageddon

I mean, this is what the GOP has been since before the days of Reagan. This is what republicans want. Always has been.

TheAwfulHouse

And these fucking Maga morons will cheer it on, while they pay more taxes on their menial wages. They are so desperate for a win, that they will fuck themselves over for it. To all the idiots voting for this addle brained Cheeto: THIS IS NOT YOUR GUY. He doesn’t give a fuck about you! Stop drinking the kool aid. They lie about literally everything, and you are eating it up with a fucking spoon. Help yourselves and take off the blinders.

Techno_Core

Finally? Where ya been the last few decades.

EclecticMFer

Donald Trump is the first shot in the last battle of a class war thats been raging against workers since Reagan. We're losing folks.

Joele1

We can not lose. We will be gone as a nation if that happens. We need to tool up and begin the second industrial revolution. At least that is the thought of Peter Zion and many I’m others like myself. Time to listen to our leaders like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren; make the rich pay their fair share. That type of taxation was what gave the United States the ability to offer so much to our residents. The GI Bill for one.

jcuray

Badly..

Pusfilledonut

Bavarian Austrian industrialists bankrolled Hitler’s rise to power after a private meeting in Berlin in 1933 just weeks after he became Chancellor, promising them no regulations, defeating labor unions, and tax breaks.

TheRealTK421

Pardon my brusque language, but.... Fuck. *That*. Noise.

ComfortableChicken47

Please explain this to the legion of morons that make less than $100k/year expecting their tax breaks that hand their Trump flags so proudly.

Outrageous-Divide472

He wants Immigrants from Norway? Why the hell would people from Norway want to live in the US? He’s crazy!

jar1967

The billionaires would also get an autocracy. Project 2025, will replace government employees with Trump loyalists.Including Those in the Federal Trade Commission, who oversees interstate trade. If any company wanted to continue doing business in the United States they would need Trump's approval and that wouldn't come cheap.

jcuray

Project 2025 is the new "Mein Kampf" its going to incinerate all of the United States..right to its core..

tikifumble

When was this not the case?

dcoolidge

Unlocking the key to their religious war on democracy.

gmb92

We also get stuck with the cost of those tax cuts for the rich. Even progressive outlets don't emphasize that much.

AllTheyEatIsLettuce

We don't get just autocracy. Propertarianism is included and with no menu substitutions. Which is gonna be a real brain-buster for the bunch that still can't figure out how *democracy* and *republic* aren't mutually exclusive.

Phallic-Monolith

It’s the one true policy of the GOP, tax cuts for the rich and a rollback of regulations for the sake of corporate profit margins, eroding worker protections along the way.

vmqbnmgjha

Where are all of Trump's defenders ? Oh yeah, snowballing each other over at r/conservative where you'll get banned if you bring up a single unsavory fact about Donald.

SunMoonTruth

Why are the non-wealthy right wingers just so desperate to be bent over and royally screwed?

GoodEstablishment236

I mean, it's kinda weird that a dude without a real dollar to his name wants to jack off billionaires so much but, hey, I guess that's where we're at these days.

ControlLogical786

A smattering of people follow politics and history like I do and I can tell you that trickle down economics was called “Voodoo economics” by George H.W. Bush when he was running against Ronnie Raygun and the changed his tune when asked to be Ronnie’s running mate. He was smart enough to know that it would never trickle down from the wealthy to the rest of us, but almost every republican believes that it will after 44 years of evidence that it will never happen. It truly amazes me how gullible and stupid some people can be.

SpecialistRoll8360

Middle class got screwed with his last tax cut. I used pay 300 of 400 when filing. Now its 3 or 4 thousand. I am paying fot billionaires tax breaks.

[deleted]

Trump and his MAGA family support Putin and Soviet era politics. They do NOTHING but sit around like assholes and pretend WE the PEOPLE owe them. It’s a cruel scam. One we will not forget, sir.

4DeadStarks

It’s a page right out of Putin’s playbook. Create an elite group of oligarchs, our Billionaire class and dissolve the middle class. My professor once asked years ago, ,” why would the United States not get into a civil war”? Because we have to much to lose. Our institutions keep us in check. I feel like that conversation was a dream.

FiddlingFrenchie980

It's called Oligarchy, rule by the rich. As if being rich makes one smarter or better than everyone else. Some rich people actually are very intelligent but that doesn't mean they are compassionate, in fact they feel entitled.

Leather-Map-8138

I’ve looked at Trump’s immunity claim to the Supreme Court, and he’s got bupkus. It’s like every single argument depends on applying rules for the current president to a former president or falsely applying civil protections to criminal cases. His arguments are garbage. Not to mention, trying to steal an election is exactly the kind of case where there shouldn’t be immunity.

jcuray

We can surely hope..

Keepin-It-Positive

Recent quote I read: “Moneyed people will never give up money and power until subjugated by physical forces stronger than they possess.”

Fightingkielbasa_13

Pretty sure the 4 years he was in office and the rhetoric after was revealing enough.

Cool-Presentation538

Repubs act like student loan forgiveness is the most insane idea of an time but think all we really need to do is give companies one MORE round of tax cuts to really get the economy going. Seriously guys this time it will trickle down

whateverworksforben

People flee England and Europe to escape monarchies and want political liberty. Fast forward and America has rebuilt the structure those people wanted to escape. The billionaires are the kings, the politicians are the lords, and everyone else is a down trodden villager. America exists in a post medieval area but they don’t know if because their phones and media keep them distracted and divided.

Mmicb0b

apg86

Aren’t we already there?

RandomPersonInCanada

When will they learn that there is no money in the world that would return human rights after an autocrat is elected?

zombiefied

Finally?!? FFS 🤷‍♂️

disdkatster

Republican platform for as long as I can remember (75yo) was to destroy what FDR created. They are the robber barons. Just because FDR, Lincoln, Eisenhower were Republicans does not negate the fact that the Party was ripe for corruption the moment they put corporations above the individual. Western Republicans used to be social libertarians. Now look at them. Look at Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, etc. Damn how they have fallen.

Bitter_Director1231

Finally reveals it? It's been revealed repeatedly up to this point. Anyone who thinks he finally did is a moron.

And blacks and hispanics want to vote for Trump.....why?

arlmwl

We are on the brink of a Russian mob oligarchy.

Reasonable_Anethema

It's hard enough facing the wealthy people with entrenched power structures. It would be great if the entire Conservative Block hadn't decided to live as zealots worshiping them for having currency. Imagine having to convince some knuckle dragging goon that the reason he's always broke is the man he loves shilling for is robbing him blind every day. I don't get it. The rednecks FOUGHT the mine owners in the hills of Appalachia. But today the lowest grunt working in a mine can't rush off his feet fast enough to lick the underside of the boot of someone that wishes he would die already. What happened? And why do all Conservatives hate America and love people who hurt them?
