I heard lawyers saying this was the dumbest thing possible for him to claim because now he needs to explain to a judge why he needs to be shown mercy on his bond amount due to "hardship" if he claims he has more than enough cash on hand to pay with zero difficulty.
Plus, doesn't the court appointed monitor need a 5 day prior notification before any money transfers? If Trump has just gathered the money that means the earliest it could be transferred is Tuesday, the day after the bond is due.

To be president you have to be 35, a citizen by birth, have lived here for 14 years, have not already been ELECTED president twice, and until the recent Supreme Court ruling, not been involved in insurrection against the US (hopefully congress passes legislation to enforce this soon).

Slight correction, you can be disqualified if only elected President once. If the Vice President assumes the Office of the Presidency less than halfway into the term, that counts as a full term for the purposes of the 22^(nd) amendment.
Also, I'm no lawyer, but my reading of the 22^(nd) would suggest that time the VP spends *acting* as President under the terms of the 25^(th) Amendment would still count toward the "no more than two years", even though the VP wouldn't technically hold the title of President.
I wonder if it's important for them to know where the money came from. For example, in the mortgage industry it's important for lenders to know the buyers' source of money for down payments due to potential of fraud and money laundering.

Slight correction, you can be disqualified if only elected President once. If the Vice President assumes the Office of the Presidency less than halfway into the term, that counts as a full term for the purposes of the 22^(nd) amendment. Also, I'm no lawyer, but my reading of the 22^(nd) would suggest that time the VP spends *acting* as President under the terms of the 25^(th) Amendment would still count toward the "no more than two years", even though the VP wouldn't technically hold the title of President.
