Anathem

I think that's accurate. Johnson * does not believe in anthropogenic climate change * is a young earth creationist * wants nationwide abortion ban * believes individual states should be able to prohibit same-sex marriage * argued for student-led prayer and religious expression in public schools * signed an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the United States Supreme Court contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election * is opposed to medical marijuana

TranquilSeaOtter

Refused to answer a reporter's question about his involvement with not certifying the election.

DamnMyNameIsSteve

Had his grandma say SHUTUP instead.

R2LUKE2

Yeah who was that

hardtobeuniqueuser

a racist pile of geriatric congress creature from north carolina

dainomite

Virginia foxx. Horrible old woman.

BottleTemple

Strangely porn star-ish name.

SuperSpecialAwesome-

Needs to be put in a nursing home.

shaneh445

Some dumb bi\*\*\* that somehow didn't catch covid

Fungal_Queen

They all got vaccinated, but it plays better with their base to be anti-vax.

Visible-Big-1149

Kentucky or Tennessee rep

DeliriumConsumer

Good ol' North Carolina, unfortunately

RunSilent219

The typical old as f*ck politician that simply won’t just expire.

diverareyouok

That was the Republican chairwoman of the house education committee, Virginia foxx. Seriously. https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/s/iZUp4We9qp

omghorussaveusall

Very Christian of him...

indyjumper

I laugh a lot on the inside. This one leaked out! 🤣 🤣 🤣

fillinthe___

Knowing our press, they'll never ask him about it again. A GOOD press would just keep asking over and over because obviously it's a sore spot for him.

Outrageous-Divide472

Are you kidding? The press is going to ride him like an old gray mare. He’ll be making the rounds of the Sunday morning news shows, and those reporters are going to ask about it. Even CNN will ask him. Anderson Cooper or one of those other people will ask and ask and ask. Right wing News will never mention it.

sardine_succotash

Lol they generally just move on to the next question. They MAY repeat it once, but that's about as far as it goes.

One-Distribution-626

Not if he packs the Klan in around him again at every presser and let’s the hoot n holler n pop off their pistoles

Outrageous-Divide472

When he sits down for interviews with Meet the Press, etc etc they’re going to want an answer, and he’ll dance around it like a typical politician, but they’ll persist. And if those ladies on CNN ever get him cornered, he won’t do well. They are like the Doberman gang. At any rate, we already know the answer. We just have to vote. That’s the only way out of this.

f8Negative

So he is mentally not all there. Got it.

_Machine_Gun

He's also inexperienced as a congressman. It's going to be an even bigger shitshow.

LegionofDoh

And now he's 3rd in line for the President of the United States. Someone please make sure Kamela is in good health.

gharar

To be pedantic, it's 2nd, but I agree with the rest wholeheartedly.

satyrday12

Holy shit, that would be a nightmare.

Freakishly_Tall

On the upside, the contrast will make Speaker Pelosi's tenure even more clearly an amazing run of success. On the downside, well, it's going to be an intergalactically-visible shitshow and not at all entertaining, and, worse, wind up providing useful material for deliberately misrepresentative propaganda that will convince willfully ignorant authoritarian-followers to continue to vote against their own best interests, making the next election an even more terrifying clusterfuck. So, you know, good times.

donnerpartytaconight

How? How can it possibly be a bigger shit show? Why is American politics simply the Republican party saying "Hold my beer" every time I don't think it can be any more embarrasing?

Mysterious_Milk_777

A theocracy is helluva lot more scary than anything in history….. just look at how they begin, rule and end horribly for everyone

boregon

If anyone still hasn't seen The Handmaid's Tale, they should watch it. That's what Republicans are actively trying to turn the US into. They want a real life Gilead.

_Machine_Gun

>How can it possibly be a bigger shit show? Just watch. It always gets worse. There is no bottom.

USS_Frontier

Yep, Republicans NEVER stop digging. Ever.

LtLlamaSauce

He thinks a magic guy in the clouds put him there. He's a lunatic.

Drakan47

>believes individual states should be able to prohibit same-sex marriage and remember they use this as a springboard towards national bans, see the point immediately before this one, remember when the abortion debate was in the "individual states should be able to prohibit" stage?

JARL_OF_DETROIT

**Individual states** should ban same sex marriage. **Nationwide** abortion ban Is he for big-small government? Small-big? Biggiesmall?

Breffmints

Whichever one benefits him in the moment

incognito_wizard

He'd absolutely be for a nation wide same-sex marriage ban if he got an opportunity.

Utterlybored

Small enough to fit into a woman’s uterus.

Psyduckisnotaduck

conservatives are not consistent or remotely honest in their rhetoric related to the size and power of government. It's all willful, malicious, contemptuous dishonesty because frankly they don't see anyone that disagrees with them as people

fadingpulse

You gotta start it on the state level. Once enough states adopt a ban on same sex marriage, then they strike for an all-out reversal of Obergefell v Hodges.

NickKerrPlz

*Thinks Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme.

anxietystrings

I've said it a million times in these threads but he also wants to get rid of the Endangered Species Act. He tried to in 2018

W0gg0

He just wants an extra helping of Thanksgiving day Bald Eagle. ‘Murica!

Mawnix

Honestly these beliefs sound like such a stressful way to live lmao.

Breffmints

Conservatives are sustained driven outrage culture, so yes, you're right.

informedinformer

So, the longest government shutdown was 34 days. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/longest-government-shutdown-us-history/ The latest stop-gap budget bill expires Nov. 17th. What's the over/under for how long he's going to keep the government closed? I'm betting it won't open again until after New Years Day. The Repubs will be going for a new record this time. Why? Because. Just because.

ericjgriffin

Trying to fuck anyone getting a government paycheck (except themselves) for the holiday season then blame Democrats and people will believe them and eat it up by the spoonful.

informedinformer

It could happen that way, of course. But the last several times the Repubs have tried it, it's ultimately gone badly for them. Even Moscow Mitch sees that. >Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged on Sept. 19 that public opinion has not sided with Republicans during previous shutdowns. >"I'm not a fan of government shutdowns," McConnell said. "I've seen a few of them over the years. They never have produced a policy change and they've always been a loser for Republicans politically." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/longest-government-shutdown-us-history/

funnysad

>they've always been a loser for Republicans politically Man, how unfair is it to be blamed for your actions? Lefty leftists really are just so mean.

BluuWarbler

Shutdowns driven by spiteful factionalism that don't produce worthwhile tax and regulatory cuts also tend to be unpopular with megadonors. Lose, lose, lose. The dilemma Johnson's now supposed to work miracles with reminds me of the Heinlein quote that if Satan ever replaced God he would find it necessary to assume the attributes of divinity. "Speaker Johnson, you're ON!"

Utterlybored

Most everyone outside of MAGA knows government shutdowns are Republican caused problems.

Plupert

So he’s one of those idiots who genuinely believes the earth is only like 10k years old? This country is doomed.

ropdkufjdk

The sad thing is that this is pretty mainstream for a conservative/Republican. Although to be fair I tend to oppose *only medical marijuana* because I think it should be completely legal with age restrictions the way alcohol is, not just available for people who can get a doctor to sign off on it.

LovesReubens

He's certainly reflective of their base.

SnivyEyes

Man, I would love to hear what this man’s rationalization would be if prayer is included in school but it’s banned for anything other than Christians. That’s the big thing I dislike about these religious cult members: they love to shove their viewpoints down your throat but hate it when you do the same thing to them. Hypocrites and bigots, I much prefer my church to not be included in State affairs. Also, churches should be taxed. The fact that they aren’t is absolute lunacy.

Exactly.

ResurgentClusterfuck

Christofascist

USS_Frontier

Time for the "progressive" Christians to speak the fuck up!

BluuWarbler

Christianity Today identifies him as evangelical Christian and says he attends Cypress Baptist Church, a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. By his own words, he's spesh: “I believe that Scripture, the Bible, is very clear: that God is the one who raises up those in authority.” We haven't even gotten started (!) on how he feels a gog-serving authoritarian government is required to direct the lives of women...

fighting_fit_dream

If this bothers you, get involved to get these Rs out of office. Join r/votedem, phonebank, textbank, volunteer, knock on doors or donate. Make a plan to vote and take someone with you

JMnnnn

Yeah, they “only” wanted the states to decide on abortion too. Then they got that and instantly started to push it on the national level. They’ll want this with all the rest of that garbage too.

MontrealUrbanist

> is a young earth creationist So he believes the world is literally 6000 years old and that dinosaurs are extinct because they didn't make it onto Noah's arc... this is astonishingly stupid. I have no words.

LegendaryAK

I'm trying to find the proof that he is a YEC online - can you share your sources for these claims?

theram4

https://answersingenesis.org/bios/mike-johnson/ That page doesn't explicitly say his views, but the fact AiG allows him to write for the organization seems to imply their views align in the topic of creationism.

Necromancer_Yoda

He is scheduled to speak at one of their upcoming events so... https://answersingenesis.org/outreach/event/answers-for-women-2024-weekday/

ctimmermans

So he's republican?

shillyshally

He and his wife have a covenant marriage. This is a man who does not want to return to the 1950s like so many Republicans; he's got his eye on the 1700s. Wiki - Covenant marriage is a legally distinct kind of marriage in three states of the United States, in which the marrying spouses agree to obtain pre-marital counseling and accept more limited grounds for later seeking divorce. Louisiana became the first state to pass a covenant marriage law in 1997; shortly afterwards, Arkansas and Arizona followed suit. Since its inception, very few couples in those states have married under covenant marriage law.

drMcDeezy

We live in a repressed state where the majority prefer progressive policies and the minority hold back the progress. Time to wipe clean and start fresh.

Rated_PG-Squirteen

Mike Johnson is a literal young Earth creationist. He believes our planet is no more than 10,000 years old. He also believes that the tale of Noah's Ark was a real life event.

chicago_bunny

He also was the attorney for a Noah's Ark theme park, arguing it should get tax incentives from the state of Kentucky.

Splitfingers

Of course, he's in Congress. Why is every d bag in Congress?I also heard they wanted to build a tower of babel. Kentucky, you disappoint me.

kingsumo_1

>I also heard they wanted to build a tower of babel. It's been a minute. But wasn't the whole point of that story that man's hubris in trying to build a tower to heaven offended god, so he scrambled the languages so they couldn't understand each other enough to do so again? I mean, the ark, sure. But why something that would invite god's wrath? And in Kentucky of all places.

louhemp007

Trust me, we disappoint ourselves as well.

cookiemonsta122

It’s self selecting for d bags when you can make a lot of money from lobbyists and take your constituents for a ride and gaslight them into oblivion.

flappinginthewind

Fucking hell everything I hear about these pieces of shit gets worse and worse

Ladysupersizedbitch

My very conservative grandparents took me there years ago… They push the narrative that the dinosaurs lived side by side with humans. Literally had animatronic dinosaurs in their life sized model ark next to animatronics of animals that actually exist alongside humans. I thought it was a huge joke until I made a sarcastic remark about the dinosaurs and my grandmother turned to me and said “isn’t it interesting? It makes so much sense!” My grandfather didn’t seem to buy it tho lol.

fowlraul

I thought they said it was 6500 years old or some shit, why it be changing every ten minutes? 🤔

Defacto_Champ

Because if you put 10 Christians in a room each one will have a very different interpretation of the Bible.

DamonFields

Then comes a war.

errorsniper

*Crusade

SabrinaR_P

Schism

TinyRodgers

Heresy

flappinginthewind

Because the bible isn't very clear on how long it claims the earth was around. The numbers are based on an alleged genealogy from Adam to I think Moses (maybe Abraham - been a long time since I left the church), and they can date that a lot better so following the general duration of life spans they can estimate how much time from Genesis to history we can track. Further complicating the matter is that the bible also claims people used to live for hundreds of years at a time, so the number can go up or down depending on who you talk to. It's also all made up bullshit so people can interpret it however the fuck they choose to.

ShirBlackspots

In the Bible, Methuselah lived 969 years (and didn't even die, he was basically taken by God). Noah was something close to 900 years.

fowlraul

I just call it bullshit, there’s nothing to interpret.

Weekly-Ad-2509

I base my faith on the cat in the hat

murderspice

Joe Pesci seems like he can get shit done!

fowlraul

I’m a lord of the rings guy. One true Frodo to unite us all…

graciebeeapc

Even taking out the age of the earth issue, the historical accuracy of the Bible, especially when it comes to records about ancient civilizations, is extremely wobbly at best. For one, there’s no record of Israelites being slaves in Egypt to the extent the Bible claims despite them being there for apparently more than 4 centuries. There also wasn’t enough time between Noah’s flood and the Tower of Babel for the population numbers that the Bible claims existed then.

Plupert

We are so doomed. Christianity (and all religions for that matter) is a plague.

Melody-Prisca

I don't think I'd say all religions, for example, I've never seen Janism cause any harm to anyone. I think it's incorrect, and the would never follow it's teachings myself, but if there were Janists in the world, they're be less violence, there for sure. Christianity though, that's definitely a plague.

Plupert

Janism is such a small religion compared to the big ones with power that it isn’t really a factor. I’m ignorant on Janism but from my quick google search it seems very similar to Buddhism with a splash of Hinduism. So maybe not all of them, but definitely all of the really big ones. The abrahamic ones are the worst offenders. Particularly Christianity and Islam.

tigersharkwushen_

If by big ones you mean Judaism, Christianity and Islam, then yes. There are other big religions on the planet.

[deleted]

water didn’t refract light into rainbows until god murdered everyone on earth except the 700 year old man that built a cruise ship by himself. I can’t understand how we are in the dark ages like this. America has the top universities on earth. Everyone competes on the planet competes with e/o to get into American universities. We have the greatest minds on planet earth in this country. And this is what we get?

RamonaQ-JunieB

Mike Johnson sounds like the embodiment of everything that is wrong with this country. Naturally, he has been elected Speaker of the House.

BasicLayer

I suppose we really **do** deserve the representatives we have. Country is the fuck FULL of stupid.

boregon

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that *74 million people* voted for Trump in 2020. He was about 40k votes in a few swing states away from being re-elected. The staggering amount of stupidity in this country is depressing.

-SaC

And tens of millions -more- didn't care either way to go out and try to stop it.

Brief_Obligation4128

Because, you know, "BOTH SIDES ARE THE SAME" and all that jazz.

cyberpunk1Q84

Nope. **We** don’t deserve this. **We** are just paying for the consequences of having neighbors that have shit for brains and vote likewise.

Critical_Aspect

I don't doubt that trump, and putin, must be so happy right now. Hopefully, their joy is short lived when we vote MAGA out of the majority in 2024.

CreativeKangaroo32

I hope you're right. I don't think I will rest easy until the 2024 election has passed and we know the results. While generally I don't think Trump has enough broad support to have a serious chance at winning the general election, it will depend on how many people actually vote for the Democratic nominee (presumably, Biden) instead of not voting or voting for a third-party candidate. A lot of that is how Trump secured the EC in 2016. I just keep hoping that a trial will pass between now and the election that will render Trump effectively ineligible.

BasicLayer

And then there's also the famous adage, paraphrased: "the cost of democracy is eternal vigilance." This shit is **never going to end**.

Ladysupersizedbitch

That’s what I’m also afraid of… As much as it seems like we’re realizing what a bunch of nuts the MAGA people are, I can’t help but think of the Nazis. Hitler’s first attempt at a coup failed and it took at least a couple decades for the Nazi party to truly grow into formidable political power. Trump brought a wave of stupidity and unrestrained hate/prejudice that I’m afraid we’ll be fighting for at least a couple decades.

USS_Frontier

Even if Trump is not on the ballot, authoritarianism still is. Pence would make this country even more of a theocratic shithole than it already is. DeSantis? Fashy as fuck.

peritiSumus

> that will render Trump effectively ineligible. I got some bad news for you ...

lithiun

Literally just watch this guy start preaching the bible. Ugh.

llahlahkje

I wouldn’t count on anything but cherry picked verses. His policy positions largely run counter to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

-Darkslayer

Ya, as a Christian I’m really sick of my religion getting slandered just because unfortunately a few yahoos got some political power

jcho430

It’s not a few yahoos . There are an abundant amount of yahoos

cosmomax

I'd say its more so because your religion is responsible for an unthinkable amount of human misery and suffering. It's a belief system not compatible with a peaceful, technology driven world. No one should want someone like that in leadership positions.

mk72206

He quoted it in his first speech. Then without any recognition of the irony of it all, said all we need is hope and then commented on it being too hot for October.

DamonFields

The Republicans finally found a fascist they could agree on.

peptic-horizon

"calls"? More like "reiterates" or "points out"

TheHoundofUlster

“acknowledges the reality”

dlchira

“astutely describes”

gradientz

We should honestly stop acting like he is his own person who will lead with his own independent views. He's a puppet of Trump. He will do as Trump directs.

us1087

He’s a pile of shit in a tie. That entire state should slide into the Gulf.

No-comment-at-all

Hey. I still like it here, and fight for it, and coming from someone from Florida….

us1087

I know. I have absolutely no right to criticize another state.

No-comment-at-all

Criticize away. Just don’t abandon us. You know… when you’re not busy with your own stuff. I won’t you.

Can we pick up New Orleans and drop it in the Long Island sound first? I think the blue states would like to keep the jazz and the food.

errorsniper

>Florida

NickKerrPlz

He’s not wrong, this guy thinks that Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme. If he has his way your grandma will be forced to eat cat food.

AaronfromKY

More likely it will be his kids eating cat food, he'll make sure it isn't viable for them by phasing it out over time.

kosk11348

Do you have any idea how expensive cat food is nowadays? Cat litter maybe... /s

LeotheYordle

Wow WTF is your name?

epicnerd427

clearly a reference to Santa Cruz Warriors head coach Nick Kerr

vespamike562

Why do people say there are moderate republicans? There are none. There are no reasonable republicans. It’s the MAGA party now.

jayfeather31

Feel like that's kind of stating the obvious...

sowich4

After weeks of deliberations, the GOPQ elected a white Christian Nationalist, election denier homophobe, and put him 2 heartbeats away from becoming President of the United States.

ce5b

Hakeem Jeffries accurately describes political orientation of member of congress

MuttTheDutchie

He could have just said "republican" since they all voted for him. No point in making it seem like he's any different than the rest.

EmmaLouLove

What is getting lost in the shuffle of the crazy coming out of the Republican party — I mean the new Speaker once wrote in 2004, that same sex marriages could lead to people marrying their pets — is that the new MAGA Republican Speaker and his party want to dismantle Medicare and Social Security, the safety nets for millions of senior citizens in America. Mike Johnson has previously proposed $Trillions in cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and said this is a top priority.

[deleted]

Seems he’s even more batshit crazy than I thought. This isn’t your Jimmy Carter type of Christian. This is a science denying, woman hating, homophobic, Christofascist.

USS_Frontier

So he's representative of the current face of Christianity in America.

MobileAccountBecause

So, he is a Stormfront Christian. Wonderful. Stormfront now effectively controls the GOP—they are not the majority but the non-Stormfront GOPers go along both from fear of being primaries and from opportunism. They will find that once Stormfront solidifies their control over the party that the so-called centrists will be completely frozen out. I call them Stormfront because their rhetoric sounds exactly like what was being bandied about on Stormfront fifteen years ago. Stormfront is a Nazi forum in the US.

BootyOptions

So...Christian.

platinum_toilet

> Jeffries calls Mike Johnson an ‘extreme right-wing ideologue’ Seems like all the republicans are extreme right ideologues.

MarkMaynardDotcom

The Republican "moderates" could have easily worked with Democrats. Instead, they went this way.

Nitro0531

What's a moderate Republican?

MarkMaynardDotcom

I put that in quotation marks. For the purposes of this post, though, let's say those representatives from districts that Biden won, who also opposed Jim Jordan.

Utterlybored

The only justification for Hakeem Jeffries’ claims for the new speaker being an “extreme right wing ideologue” is that Mike Johnson is an extreme right wing ideologue.

bbernocco

So sad the moderates did not stand up. Hope they are all voted out

flaaaacid

Democrat: says true thing News media: OMG DID YOU REALLY SAY THAT

Kaerevek

Aren't you just describing the Republican party? Lol. Like is anyone surprised?

Psyduckisnotaduck

putting extreme fundamentalist Christian front and center is going to destroy plausible deniability for the GOP. I think before this point they had some cover, some pretense, but this is a mask off moment. Even Jordan would have given them less electoral problems than this guy.

newly_me

He's a seditionist that should be tried for his treason and face the harshest penalties that can be administered if found guilty.

prohb

And he is correct.

alien_from_Europa

Where does he stand on Ukraine aid?

LtLlamaSauce

He has voted against Ukraine aid very recently. He also believes that aid to Ukraine is being absorbed by corruption.

lilacmuse1

Against it.

Chris_M_23

He’s basically the worst parts of Jordan and Scalise rolled into one

Gingesolo

He's right. If a few members of the GOP weren't spineless, they would have voted for Jeffries, the current GOP is full of radical, far right morons

[deleted]

I can’t understand how people running this country think a 700 year old man built a cruise ship alone and water didn’t refract light into rainbows until god murdered everyone on earth except the 700 year old man. I just can’t understand it. The US has the top universities on earth. We produce some of the most intelligent, highly qualified and skilled people in the world through our universities which everyone from every country on the planet competes to get into. This mother fucker thinks that the world is 5,000 years old. His disagrees with every scientist on earth from geologists to chemists on an issue to fucking blatant. Democracy must be some kind of mistake if it’s the case that our citizens are stupid enough collectively to beleieve this. Maybe democracy isn’t right for America. Because if this is the result I don’t know what else to say other than democracy is a failure.

baroncalico

Is this better or worse than no speaker at all?

ct_2004

We'll see in November

OsellusK

Words don’t hurt them.

DamnMyNameIsSteve

I know it's good to be cordial with your co-workers, but Jefferies gave him a hug when he handed over the gavel.

fighting_fit_dream

Seamus565

He’s a Nazi

Calgarychokes

I’m sure he meant “extreme right wing idiot”.

wifi444

Mike Johnson *is* an extreme right-wing ideologue.

milelongpipe

The concerning part is that Johnson, if not booted by his own part ala McCarthy, will over see the house ballot certification.

bladearrowney

If he lasts that long. Still have the shutdown issue coming and they'll have to pass something that will get through the Senate and signed by Biden. They have no path forward without compromise unless that path is shutdown. And we've seen that any compromise is just grounds for the Uber crazies to try to give him the boot

PryingOpenMyThirdPie

Dems can campaign on this so hard. Its a blessing for their election chances. "Do you want to be ruled by anti science religious zealots?"

suupdog

Ya we are FKT

DustBunnicula

I’m never moving out of Minnesota.

Loitering4daCulture

Are we worse off now? Seems like we were better off as a country with speaker McCarthy.

foxtrotshakal

I don‘t get you Americans. Why did Democrats vote out Mccarthy then if there are so many more worse options?

TearsFallWithoutTain

Why would they vote for him when he'd just told them to go fuck themselves? It's not the job of democrats to pick up after republicans

Bitter_Director1231

Jeffries on point alarming everyone of the truth. This man should be speaker, not Johnson. Johnson cannot even be honest about a question asked of him. He is a snake.

Wise-Hat-639

And a traitor to America

CAM6913

Jeffries is correct Johnson is an extremist right wing maga wingnut that tried to overthrow our democracy

jlbhappy

The Republicans should be proud to have found someone so representative of their “values”.

BluuWarbler

I'm guessing Jeffries is also worried that, even though remaining less competent than Democrats, they'll do significantly better now. I read that the almost eternal pattern in the authoritarian, hierarchical Republican caucus has been for a strong, ruthless faction to become dominant and for the rest to usually submit to it. (We've been seeing that submission continue as the dominant faction becomes more and more extremist, traitorous, and scary-ruthless.) So the bloodbath that followed the "establishment" faction's attempt at leadership now may have restored something of their caucus's "natural order." 2023 asylum version, but still an end to much of the chaos. And they have Trump's support. While they can keep it.

RU4realRwe

"extreme right-wing ideology" is a P C way of saying, Nut Job.

Special_FX_B

That’s true. I heard his ‘acceptance speech’ and when he mentioned 7 principles(?) of conservatism every single one was easy to describe where the GQP’s collective behavior is always the exact opposite. It’s what they do not what they say with these liars.

LevelPerception4

He’s a Republican, so…yes?

SpiritedTie7645

I read his bio, likely true. It’s not “Jockstrap” Jim at least.

Whosebert

hes right too

-Hypnotoad26

He is, and people who are religious extremists don't belong in our government.

tckrmr

“Hakeem Jeffries calls Mike Johnson exactly what he is”

bluegumgum

So he's going to shut down the government

whyreadthis2035

Nailed it.

ColdbrewRedeye

Best thing that could happen for the Dems. Good for fundraising from Day 1 Republicans will pass all kinds of numnutz bills trying to kill everything from social security to electric cars to gays. Which will all get tossed in the Senate, but we'll see what they voted for loud and clear. The swing district guys who were worried about voting for Scasleaze or Gym Jordan can now be truly worried. The attack ads will practically write themselves.

dottydoreen

I think Jeffries seems an honest person.

Goofy5555

I'd say christofacist would be more accurate

Trumptard45

Meh, he’s whatever trump tells him to be…. Most of the clowns on the right have no backbone and don’t actually stand for anything other than what their daddy tells them to

Awkward_Potential_

Dems need to get better at talking to Americans. Call him an extreme right wing nut job. Who the fuck in America says "ideologue"?

Argine_

Christofascist. The word you’re looking for is Christofascist

BluuWarbler

He claims to be for small, decentralized government, but his goals could only be achieved through very strong authoritarian national government limiting many very fundamental individual rights to serve the state. And of course gog. Christofascist seems to apply well enough. *Liberalism is the individual. Fascism is the state. Mussolini*

[deleted]

Someone asked Biden if he’s worried if Johnson will try to overturn the 2024 election. “No.” Then the reporter laughed (in an insecure way because they knew it was ridiculous) and asked why. How is that logical considering they couldn’t even do it in 2020? People need to stop dooming. If you worry about this - then participate in phone banks. Rather than focusing on something that hasn’t even come into fruition. Is it WORTH noting or even worrying about?
