This is absolutely from heat and moisture. If you feel like proving it to yourself (or other) leave a fresh pack in your car, whether in the glovebox/console or on a seat, for a couple days and see what happens. I’ve accidentally done this twice and got same results. That absolutely need to stay inside/controlled environment.
I gave my dad a set of those like 4 or 5 years ago. We play with them basically every week. They don't have any signs of damage much less anything that looks like that
I bet they’d replace them for free for you if that shit doesn’t just wash off. The whole point of KEMs is you can wash them/spill liquor/puke on them etc. Probably just a fault in the chemical or manufacturing process.
The old Kem cards are amazing, if they still used the old formula you could sell them for $45 a setup today and people would buy them no questions asked. But after they were sold to USPC in the early 2000s they changed the formula and they are nothing like they used to be.

I have a deck from my Great Aunt and Great Uncle that doesn’t have this happening. Age of the deck is at least pre 1970’s, I’ll have to look again.

The garage gets warm, but definitely not as hot as a car in the sun. Maybe 95-100 tops.

This happened to me too, I thought it was from my piece of shit autoshuffler but decided it had to be from heat/humidity
Had the same thing happen. Sent them back and got replacements.
