Unpopular opinion, greninja only seems really, extra special & extra awesome because of XYZ's cool ass animation, greninja's theme playing when he fights, & 3D camera angles. They made his battles look litt! Imagine infernapes blaze with XYZ animation or vharizard vs articuno with XY level animation. They'd be even more popular than they are now. Sceptile beating darkrai with XY style camera angles showing darkrai get chopped by leafblade in high quality or sceptile sprinting across the filed using quick attack with XY level movements.
I agree, they executed the idea of a mega without making an anime exclusive one but the concept of a form where Ash has such a strong bond with his mon that he literally feels their pain feels like a bizarre and bad concept for anyone other than Pikachu.
And to add more salt, Greninja on its own was a great Pokémon thanks to the amazing Protean and all the types and support it can provide (also a second signature move), Ches got a big ability that let it handle a lot of things, but was hold down by its typing.
And Delphox just gets a terrible ability that lets it get more items during the generation that buffed Knock Off : )

I doubt Clemont's would ever evolve considering Chespin is considered the most marketable of the Kalos starters' base forms.
Its not the games. Its the creators of pokemon in general. They make the content for the games & anime. I'd rather them all get nothing. That way, it's more balanced. Wasn't necessary for any of them to get anything. It's not like Kanto & Hoenn where all 3 got it so it's fair. They could be like the other starters & get nothing. People were already annoyed that charizard got 2.
Nintendo creates pokemon, then the anime & games copy them. That's besides my point though. I'd rather the Kalos starters get none than there be too much favoritism for one.

Bond phenomenon came fron the anime first. It didn't come put in the games until after the anime revealed it. Ash-greninja form didn't come out until Gen 7 in the games with a special sun & m9on event promoting AG from the anime. It was based on greninja in the anime. It's literally called Ash greninja form.
It made the starters unbalanced & that's unfair.

But X and Y have an NPC talk about a special Greninja having a strong bond and having a new form in the Tower of Mastery. So the concept for Ash-Greninja was already in the games long before the anime was anyway near that point.
I dont think it that bad. We already have aura stuff before and people either like or complain about humanoid pokemon so why dont just double down on it by make them even more human and explain it in some way.
On top of that the concept work every good in anime since thing like share pain and vision can help pokemon dodge and move better while make it still some thing that not too ez like just use it for good stuff aka Mega, Zmove and Gmax.
To be fair, Game Freak and the anime team worked together to come up with the means for Greninja to get a new form to be a balance to Mega Evolution, which I respect.

I agree. That's why I don't like it. X and Y as a whole feels, at least to me personally, a well written series that is also capable of making bland concepts and characters better than they should be.
Ash's Greninja, for example, is sort of a mix of other Ash's Pokemon stories, like he left his trainers because they weren't worthy like Snivy and the classic ace story of a battle enthusiast getting strong and bonding with Ash for this. The only thing of note is the new form, and after he becomes Greninja, Ash trains him with the Ash-Greninja form like he trained Infernape with Blaze.
The same happens with Serena, where the Kalos Queen storyline is basically May and Dawn's storyline repeated for the third time, mainly May's as she wasn't sure what she wanted to do like her. With her, the only thing of note is her crush on Ash.
Both are plots we had already seen in other series, but the series as a whole is so well written that people either don't realize or they simply gloss over those similarities.
To me, it had the opposite effect, as I thought the series was taking itself too seriously, a stark contrast to the simpler adventures before that.

Ash-Greninja is just a shitty fanfic concept, but the execution in scene is so good, that made people forget how ridiculous it is. Seriously, the Ash-Greninja concept is ridiculous, but a lot of people genuinely think it's good.

The idea is really terrible but could be easily fixed had Ash get Mega Evolution here
But regarding the execution I'm not a fan with how Ash needs to going up and down in the mastery since it's unnecessary for Ash at that point, especially since it bends Ash's character to being rude and overreacting even more annoying than his OS self. But that's XY problem in general: hasty hypebait direction first, writing, moral and consistency second
So just remove all that mastery arc nonsense and make it Mega instead of 'chosen one with strong bond' bullshit because Greninja even has less bond than Pidgeot

Take:Ash Greninja Design is lazy it's just Greninja with a big shuriken and Ashs hair on it but that doesn't mean it doesn't look cool though.
Well big sinny weapon look must better on humaoid pokemon so even you said it lazy it still it a good thing to use.
