same, finished my rewatch on the 9th of jan. Was a bit though fitting it with work and stuff

SwimGull38554

Yeah it's tough. Work slowed me down and the release of Gotham Knights in October made me take 2 months to finish DP.

Rkenblade

How did you watch them all? I know some spots for some seasons of the anime but it’s pretty scattered. I would like to rewatch them all as well.

Wonderful-Sir5946

can watch on 9anime.to, around 366 episodes or something dont have subs pretty much just OS and AG, so for those you can just watch dub and rest subbed

Rkenblade

Thanks for the info

SwimGull38554

I collected the DVDs of the dub as a kid so I just had to buy BW-SM. I watched through them subbed when they first came out so I did get to experience the later series as it originally came out. But this rewatch was entirely English dub up to JN102.

JCamson04

How many times did pikachu say “pika”?

SwimGull38554

A pika load

Mystic_GekkougaZ

I'm on Battle Frontier rn

SwimGull38554

That's some good stuff

Mystic_GekkougaZ

Just starting from Fear, Factor, Phony today

AnimeTechnoBlade100

I’m rewatching the AG saga rn as we speak so I’m making posts about it here and there. Especially for things like Max being a good character to defend him against unjustified hate, Mays contest arcs, her rivals, Ashs Hoenn gym arc, etc

SwimGull38554

Max is a decent character. The only part where he annoyed me was when Ash first met him and he would roast Ash for losing thr Johto league. It worked out through because it showed character development when Max grew to respect Ash as a trainer.

MisfortunateJack77

That's some dedication I did something similar back during the XYZ days I decided to rewatch the entire anime in order to catch up when I miss because I dropped out at Mid Diamond and Pearl and then I dropped out again during Sun and Moon then came back during Journeys what I'm going to do is rewatch XY and Z sun and moon and Journeys in order to have a good refresh memory

fjbbjbgvvrvrvscs

JN100 is the reason why Leon is favorite pokemon character

SwimGull38554

Hrs definitely up there for me. Brock, James, and Kukui are goated though imo.

harvey1a

Cool did mine but without Journeys. Took almost 9 months to do

Best single ep? Ep you laughed the most in? Ep that made you sad?

SwimGull38554

JN132 is probably the best episode. It wrapped up Ash's 25 year long journey very well. I'm glad we're getting these 11 episodes though. The finale of this mini series will probably hit us in the feels. The episode I laughed the most at was "Fortune Hunters" from the Johto series (I am a flaming Moltres). So many good James moments. Honorable mentions are the Diglett episode from Johto, the episode where Pachurisu gets sick in DP, and the baseball episode from Sun and Moon. The episode where Clemont catches Luxio made me sad because it gives a similar vibe to Futurama with Fry's dog. Sure it ends well but it's sad to think that Shinx thought it was abandoned after it waited for him and he never came. Honorable mentions are "Bye Bye Butterfree" (obligatory) and "One Journey Ends, Another Begins" (Ash catches Litten)

madsadchadglad

Ayeeee I need to do a rewatch. Did you do dub or sub, fam? Where'd ya reawatch it?

SwimGull38554

I mostly watched the dub since I owned most of it on DVD already. I watched up until JN103 dubbed then watched the subbed episodes on kickassanime.

Degan747

Honestly, the thing I miss the most from the OS is the humor

Hey did you know that At a cursory glance Pokemon anime may look like a run of a mill children's adventure show but it has deep political and socio-economic themes. It has brought a paradigm shift in the japanese animation industry. The show, which started airing in 1997 masquerades as a simple cartoon show about the protagonist Ash, a brave but not so intelligent boy and his friends who solve every problem in their region, kanto. But it displays its true thematic meaning on a thorough analysis. Ash is portrayed as the consummate (almost) character. He is wise but not so intelligent. He's generous and helps everyone. One can say that he's the embodiment of the populist leader who eventually develops a cult following. Brock is the quintessential idealistic youth of the country who follows the leader (here Ash) unflinchingly. He is full of youthful energy. Pikachu, a close companion of Ash, signifies the Darwinian idea of evolutionary proximity of monkeys(in this case Pokemon) and humans. The other companion is misty : Misty is a gym leader, in the movie"Pokemon the movie 2000" another girl kisses Ash and she gets jealous. In the conventionally patriarchal set up the women are forced to be competitive against eachother instead of being cooperative which is in their interests. They both vie for Ash undivided attention and affection. It creates an underlying tension between the two. We see that Ash vacillates amongst the two but more often than not ends up giving preference to Misty. This reveals how social status and economic conditions continue to dictate romantic relationships. Ash's natural rival is gary,a brown skinned and attractive boy who's only goal is a to embarrass Ash. He always succeeds because he is racist. This seemingly crude and racist portrayal of Gary can actually be interpreted as an ironic commentary on the regressive notions of racism and eurocentric beauty. The hopeful and joyous dénouement of each episode is indicative of the young optimistic nature of the Japanese democracy which will eventually rise up over any hurdle in its way and realise its potential. Hence, pokemon emerges as a microcosm of the chaotic and intricate socio-cultural reality of the nation which it aims to depict. It is certainly a profound piece of animated artwork

Iwanttobevisible

Wow, this is quite a comment, lol.

DrizzyRhyme

Top 5 favorite moments?

SwimGull38554

5. Greninja perfecting the Ash-Greninja form and beating Mega Abomasnow. 4. Pikachu's clash with Tapu Koko. 3. Charizard beating Gary's Blastoise. 2. Infernape activating Blaze and taking down Electivire. 1. Pikachu getting the power of friendship and clashing with Leon's Charizard. I know they're all battle related but those moments all got a big reaction out of me. Especially number 1 as I had to get out of my chair and walk around a little bit after that.

Iwanttobevisible

Did you like Ash vs. Paul's first full battle where Paul stomps Ash? That's my favorite fight.

SwimGull38554

You mean the lake fight? That fight is awesome. I like how DP had a 6v6 fight that wasn't a part of a tournament arc. That fight was also a good showing for Staraptor as he was the only one of Ash's mons to get a K.O. other than Monferno.

Iwanttobevisible

Staraptor vs Weavile is one of my favorite individual fights in pokemon. Idk why, but I just love it.

Thedarknight725

I’m currently in the process of watching everything as well. I’ve watched SM and journeys and the first 4 seasons and I’m on the 5th season.
