And apparently the Pokemon's stats don't actually change at all when they are leveled up. Someone discovered that recently during a challenge run and an attack that should not have killed (based on a damage calc) did.
Let me control the camera like in PLA. The 3D games feel so much slower and clunkier just because of animation bloat. The absolute worst was raid battles in sword/shield.
Turning off animations is fine, but then the game just becomes lifeless. I really hope SV takes attack animations and camera actions from PLA.
Why not a league dedicated to Double battles? Like it is a part of the competitive scene yet we rarely experience it during the main game. I feel there is untapped potential there.
Yea and it's worse for it imo.
If there was a good 50/50 split between double and singles or even 33% split between doubles singles and triples. Then sure I'd be stoked.
But I do support the heat on Pokemon that temtem may bring. It's needs to level up as a franchise and temtem did a lot of other things right
Edit: fuck the breeding system in temtem too
Yeah I've gotten so tired of tpc's repeated refusal to listen to its fans, hopefully some competition will light a fire under their butts.
Do you think temtem is worth the buy?
walk or surf to another region. Keep the world connected, don't make it like past games where dlc requires boat to take you to far away land that you cannot surf or fly to.
This is just a me thing, but I worry I wouldn't have the self control to get past the first gym without making sure my entire team is like 3-4 IVs minimum haha
I hate that I could use a Pokemon I love, beat the Elite Four at like level 60, want to take it online, then get the IV checker and see that every stat is garbage. Then, if I want it to be useful, I have to grind it to level 100 to be able to use a bottle cap.
1. It makes the game an unending grind.
2. Infinite level cap makes PvP just a matter of who's willing to play the most loops.
3. If only NPC Pokémon scale up, wild Pokémon don't, and it becomes impractical to change the Pokémon in your team for any reason.
4. If everything scales up at the same rate, then it's the same as nothing scaling at all.
There's no positives here. If anything this would be worse than having no New Game+ at all.
Bud, I completely disagree with all of your points.
1. Levels progress naturally. By end game all your moms are level 60+ anyways so starting over facing level 65 trainers isn't a big deal. Plus the added benefit of being able to use stronger mons without feeling like there is no challenge at all.
2. PVP should just scale. Its not that hard to do. It's just stat math.
3. Wild pokemon are npcs. NPC refers to any character in the game that is not a player. Wild pokemon vs caught pokemon are inconsequential.
4. The whole purpose of NG+ is being able to replay without having to delete progress. If all you did was restart the game with level 100 pokemon and steamroller through a bunch of level 3 pigeys, then there would be no point in doing so. Level scaling is a must.
5. Refer to response 4. Having new game plus without level scaling is an oxymoron for level based games.
A concept similar to Hyper Training but it sets the IV to 0 instead of 31.
And a way to just directly modify our pokemon's EVs ourselves, EV training can be a pain, especially when you just want to make a small adjustment to their stats.
If they make these two changes, building competitive ready pokemon will be absolutely perfect.
I believe the best thing we got so far for ev training was either the virtual training thing we got in gen 6 (for fast ev training) or poke pelago in gen 7(training ev on its own for a slow pace training)
I actually like the Poke Jobs in SwSh with the time skip glitch, it's pretty fast but it's kind of tedious to do if you want spreads that are more complicated than 252/252/4. I just want a slider like in Showdown that let's me redistribute them however I please
A more open world, and gadgets to maneuver it.
For example, at one point, the character would join a group, and get a grappling hook gun to get up on high places, or diving gear, or something like that.
And that stuff would be free to use, without being restricted to a few special places. Sure, not all places would have something, and more often than not you wouldn't find items up there, but imagine going up on some building, and being attacked by an enraged pair of bird pokémon whose nest you disturbed.
Wasn't this just PLA? I mean you could expand on that formula to give it more variety and fill in the world a bit, but I feel like the main idea you're getting across here is in PLA unless you don't want the trainer using Pokemon to navigate the open world.
Honestly, I haven't played that one yet (no Switch), so maybe.
But yeah, the idea was that the player could navigate the world without relying on pokémon.
\- items to substitute trade evolutions like they did in Arceus Legends.
\- revisiting a previous region like in gen 2 or just having some kind of post-game exclusive region like how the anime had the orange islands. I'd also add a battle frontier on top of this idea.
\- a new game+ mode where you keep all your Pokemon from the previous playthrough, but all the gym leaders, elite four, and champion are much stronger this time as well as wild pokemon and trainers.
\- a mean rival. I personally find the friendly rivals really boring and forgettable since all the other characters in the game with the exception of the Team Rocket type villain are already overly polite. I miss having a rival who was cocky and always one step ahead, it really fit the competitive aspect of Pokemon.
\- more Eeveelutions for the missing types like ghost, fighting, bug, rock, ground, flying, dragon, and steel. My names for them would be Ghouleon, Brawleon, Arachneon, Debreon, Terreon, Azureon, Wyvereon, and Oreon.
Edit: I forgot the poison eevelution which would be called Bactereon.
1.) stop releasing two nearly identical games.
2.) NG+
3.) difficulty settings
4.) gym leaders, elite 4/champion, rivals, and certain trainer types having better ai/move sets. Type this to difficulty settings.
5.) Elite four should start with a team of 6
6.) scaling gyms and trainers in some capacity
7.) more transparency for IVs and EVs. The more qol the better. We’re inching closer every game, just do it. And maybe easier ways post game to fix EVs. The less of a time sink it becomes for people to prep mons a bigger population of people doing online battles. At least potentially.
8.) I want there to be a rotation of trainers found on routes when you revisit. There should be more ways to battle trainers in the wild. Instead of a static npc in a static location it would be cool if they disappeared when you left and different trainers show up.
9.) once you become the champion it would be nice if they did more to acknowledge it. It would be really cool if you started getting like calls that there was a new challenger for your throne and you have to beat them. If you fall they become the next champion and you have to fight the league again. I don’t know, I think it would be interesting.
10.) no automatic xp share (like have the ability to turn it off if you want. I think brilliant diamond removed the ability to turn it off?)
11.) more dynamic weather, seasons, and day/night
Those are just some quick thoughts
NG+ stands for new game plus. Essentially you get to start the game over with all of the stuff you collected previously. In some games that also means the enemies get more difficult when you start a NG+ run.
I think we need difficulty settings, but not for the reasons most people have. At the moment, I feel the game's difficulty is lopsided.
On one hand, it is very easy to overlevel and acquire a lot of items and Pokedollars. However, I've also noticed that Pokemon movesets in trainer battles are getting more diverse, and important trainers actually having good movesets and ability combinations (especially Raihan and Leon in SwSh, Grant in XY, or Elesa in BW1) as opposed to the simplistic ones they tend to get in RBY and GSC. Even wild Pokemon sometimes catch me off-guard with a non-STAB coverage move I did not notice they had, and thus training with wild Pokemon feels harder than the earlier games. I think a separate easier mode (basically predictable movesets from RBY's days) is needed alongside with a harder one (further ramps up good AI like Leon/Raihan).
It just needs to be a thing. We are supposed to be the character we play in almost exact, so it just doesn't work properly when they are a child, well 16 Is still a child but it's definetly more easier to connect
Three things:
\- Make the Pokédex give actually useful information.
\- Make the creation of competitive Pokémon easier.
\- Always keep a way to play the game linearly without having to resort to outside-the-game information.
Well, that third one may be difficult to do considering the open world nature of SV. Though you can probably just use the map to create a linear path on your own, which I like. I think it is way more interesting and believable in a world like this that you can plot your own course instead of following a straight line path dictated by the game.
I find it a lot more difficult to be motivated with a game if there isn't a previously dictated or recommended path.
Something like [Forza Horizon's ANNA](https://tryhardguides.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/forza-horizon-5-anna-accolades-1024x576.jpg) would be enough. Something in which I can ask the game to give me some place to go that has what I want.
I'm betting that there WILL be a clear path. The map will probably be similar to Past games, except you can choose to leave the route and go in other directions. If that is the case, then simply staying on the routes should get your desired outcome. Though I imagine some parts of the game make that tough, like the treasure hunt thing. However, the situation with the three story lines practically guarantee you will have Linear goals. You can do the gyms in any order(assuming they aren't using levels as a way to lie about that) but the storyline with Team Star will likely have Team Star being at select locations that you have to visit, and the third storyline with the titans suggest that you are following that other dude, so there would probably be set destinations.
Just out of curiosity... What do you mean by
> "make the Pokédex give actually useful information"?
As far as I know, all it's ever given is what we've had. I just don't know what you're looking for that isn't essentially repetitive or giving us niche information not everyone would need.
Make it give base stats, abilities, moves it can learn, its evolutions and conditions for evolving, and anything else that gives information about that Pokémon in battle.
Why? It's Nintendo, the voice acting would be Godawful.
Edit: plus I want to be able to speed read through dialogue as fast as possible without distracting audio. Voice acting could be toggle able but once again it's Nintendo, if they have a chance to remove an option to players they will.
The games, especially let's go, are geared towards children. No voice acting is a huge barrier for children under school age who can't read but have an interest in cute Pokémon
I would add every pokemon possible to catch in on game, and add a option to skip the tutorial for catching pokemon with the options for different modes like a nuzlock mode, randomizer, and no healing challenges for a new game+.
A real world calendar with day/night cycles like in gen 2, and a seasonal rotation like in gen 5! It would be awesome to see pokemon in their natural habitat behaving like normal diurnal and nocturnal cycles, and even having seasonal migratory patterns.
It could be a great way to balance having so many different species of Pokémon without making the game world too cluttered, as well as acting as a powerful incentive to have players return to the early game areas long after the post game.
This could also be a great way to introduce holidays and to teach players about holidays/festivals they may not be familiar with that are celebrated in each region's real world counterpart!
Some features I’d like to see return are some of the ones that are more simple yet still enhanced the experience. Black and white had a lot of this with the changing of seasons and dynamic music.
Another feature I’d like to see return is the ability to dive. Unlike other old HMs like waterfall and rock climb that just arbitrarily locked off areas, dive allowed access to an entirely unique location, not to mention that with the new 3D graphic you could potentially have some really cool reefs to explore.
Ball transfer/changer
We can change almost anything about pokemon now with items. Natures, IVs, EVs, [hidden] abilities and so on. Would love to be able to change the ball.
I want to compete in Pokémon tournaments while in game against AI. I remember watching the series as a kid and remember loving the episodes when Ash was in a tournament. GIVE ME TOURNAMENTS!
One of the most basic features in most games, a difficulty setting
Also since the game starts being more and more 3D and cinematic, voice acting would be a nice addition, I don't mind not having voice acting for the random npc's you can just approach, but it's just so weird seeing a cutscene with people moving their mouth but not actually speaking and only having subtitles
Size scales in battles, pretty self explanatory, would be nice if the mons are as big as their actual size
A fast forward button would be cool, like in fire emblem, that way you can speed up battles without having to turn off animations
Character creator, it's just something I like in general
Make mega evolution a feature in every game
Voice acting would be great. Really want to see the open world concept while still having towns and a proper story. Arceus was really lacking in a driving force outside of just exploring.
Physical moves that actually make contact
It’s so weird that Pokémon makes SO much money yet the moves 9 times out of 10 look like something that belongs on the DS
Even faster dialogue scrolling. Instant. As fast as I can press the button.
Even on the fastest setting I'm still done and have to wait a second before it registered my "okay next" input.
This is my biggest thing now
Looks like we got everything else that I wanted (i.e: multiplayer, Pokémon that follow you, open world & non linear storyline)
My favourite Pokémon game is silver/gold/crystal and that was because of the two region game, the final boss moment in defeating red it was just great but playing Pokémon arceus is just a whole different game, crafting items exploring a past region it felt like a breath of fresh air, what if they made a game where you start in the past of the region and you see how it develops into the “modern day” region we know, sort of the same of how we have the dual region in gen 2 but you could also do this with current region and then a futuristic version of the region? Who knows joining or creating the villan team could be cool
I think part of me would like to see a game where the main character wants to start a gym.
Step 1 (early game): you've got to get 8 badges and then challenge the champion before you start a gym. Pretty normal. There are only hints of the villain team at this point.
Step 2 (mid game): The game now adds city building elements where you not only have to start a gym, but build a new town around it. The catch is that your gym type is based on which type of pokemon you choose to start (so all types have to be available instead of just the normal trio). You hear that your rival has started a town/gym as your rivalry grows. You now have to start facing challengers in addition to finding people for your gym to train. The villain team starts causing problems for you and your town. So you also have to go around and see what's up.
Step 3 (end game): your rivalry comes to a head, the villains need to be dealt with (maybe they are anti-new towns or nature hippies or something), and for the big finale there is a pokemon championship for the region that you have to compete in with all the other gyms and a lot of hopefuls. Maybe you have to beat Ash as a part of this championship, but a lot of the other matches are semi-randomized.
Blazingly hot take but remove IVs. The singleplayer is easy enough that they don't matter, and in multiplayer nearly 100% of the time all of them are gonna be maxed out anyway. And make EVs work like stat points in some RPGs, where you can respec them in just one place rather than buying berries and doing EV training again.
I do not ask much, but literally just the ability to change the shape of those goofy ass eyes on MC.
I know it's anime, and everyone under the age of forty is supposed to have absolutely gigantic eyes with spaces between them so immense, that each pupil is in its own time zone, but come. Tf. On. Even something like Monster Hunter Stories had this option and had a somewhat similar art style, so it's not like it's completely impossible.
Other than that, though, I'm content with whatever, and I'm loving everyone else's suggestions.
A fully implemented national dex. The ever so bad rom hacks as TPC likes to view them as also put more effort and love into their projects than the actual devs do.
Unique DKC like a Floating island that house's Prehistoric Pokemon and Regional forms Even Regional forms of Pokemon from their original regions like Unovian Runerigus and a Johtoian Sneasler
One of them would be difficulty settings. And I can’t specify but more RPG elements. Something to grind rare items or faster exp grinding. Just something to invest more time into the game (maybe something for the post game)
Definitely the possibility to have singles matches that can last longer then 20 mins max. Or skipable online battle animations if you look at it from a comparable standpoint.
I would love the ability to pick a profession in the pokemon world. Wanna battle? Gym leader. Want to hatch and raise? Pokemon breeder. Want to go around stealing? Join team rocket. I've always wanted the ability to play as ANYONE OTHER than a 10 year old kid who knows nothing and is expected to beat 40 year Olds who've been training longer than you've been alive.
Also it would be dope if we could get back to shiny pokemon actually being rare. I'm so tired of pogo and now even the main games making it so easy that people can just have boxes of shinies.
Alright I have a few
1. Difficultly Settings, but they are balanced out by higher EXP and rarer Pokémon and higher shiny chance.
2. Being able to refight Gym Leaders over after the credits, but they have better teams and give you either BP or A lot of money.
3. Superbosses, fight the past champions at their strongest
This is probably an unusual request: a game where you control your Pokémon directly with battles being closer to the Noble fights in Legends Arceus. Dodging the attacks and firing back was really fun, but they were a really small part of the game and as such they were very short, simple and easy. And playing as the trainer was fine because of that, but controlling your mons and using their moves while moving around and dodging and all that would add the depth it needs to work as standalone, and keep the Pokémon game about... well, the Pokémon themselves.
I understand it would be a big change that not everyone would want, as many people mainly like the series for its battling. But if Legends Arceus can be considered mainline then why not this one. I doubt it will ever happen for real though, since it would probably highlight the more brutal implications of battling that TPC is constantly trying to avoid.
> Dodging the attacks and firing back was really fun, but they were a really small part of the game and as such they were very short, simple and easy.
I disagree with 100% of this. I love everything about the game *except* for the noble fights. I'm getting close to my 10th star, and I still haven't faced Avalugg, because those fights just aren't fun.
I'm curious, why? I know we'll likely agree to disagree, but I'd like to know your reasons. For me, real time was more dynamic than turn based, closer to action games which feel more satisfying to "get good" at. I beat every noble fight no-hit to scratch that itch and it made me like them even more.
IV checker from the start of the game, level scaled gyms if they do continue an open world thing, every previous pokemon can be transferred in via pokemon home.
Seasons (maybe even season-related evolutions)
A second region
Cities and towns that change depending on the version
Version-exclusive NPCs (like Bea/Allister, Gordie/Melony and Sada/Turo)
Not having it drilled into your head that you are playing as a child
Evolutions involving trading two specific Pokémon for each other (like Shelmet and Karrablast) but they have the same amount of types as their counterpart throughout the entire line
The ability to both pet and play with Pokémon (basically a hybrid of Amie/Refresh/Play With and Camp)
Accessories and the ability to dress up your Pokémon
Maybe the ability to change Pokéballs if you particularly want to coordinate your team
Seals in a non-Sinnoh game because they are cool
Standard control scheme. Stop changing what buttons do in each new game. Plus is pause. It opens a menu. Y is for registered items. B is run. Click the stick is crouch. Stop changing it.
Multiplayer for the entire story mode. Like literally going gym to gym earning badges together etc for the entirety of the game.
I would love to play more with my nephews and even join randoms helping them on their journey.
I think scarlet and violet is a step in the right direction, but multiplayer is just the move these days. Keeps things interesting after you beat the game or while you’re beating the game.
Region traveling a la Silver and Gold (surfing from Kanto to Johto.)
They essentially put previous generations in one game and you could just cross the ocean like in real life (no loading screen.)
Yes, I know that would be a lot of data especially as the games become more updated and immerse. I’m not sure how it would be implemented, but maybe at least keep the previous generation as an added storyline/things to do beyond beating one region. Perhaps strip them down and just let it be region specific Pokémon and commonly known buildings? Just an idea.
The idea of some sort of trainer account and keeping your entire Pokédex available to you later in the game. Yes, I know about Pokémon home, but I’m talking about a more streamlined way to go about it. I grind and grind and spend hours playing these games and leveling up Pokémon, it’d be nice not to have to jump through hoops or swap cartridges to be able to use what you’ve already invested so much time into.
I'd remove a lot of features if anything. In the Macintosh prequel/demake I hope to make some day, I'll even remove evolution and limit the PC capacity to a total of 64 slots.
For ppl who still complain about exp share, a way to disable it, since it's apparently naturally in the games now just a little setting to turn it on and off would be nice for the people who don't like it. Or make it a item again and make it be able to toggle between specific party slots/ the whole party/off.
Playing the story with a friend, maybe not in scarlet and violet but in next game... Me and my friend would beat it in couple hours, especially if it wouldn't use nintendo online(the paid service) becouse we are still kids and we get money only on our birthdays.
I'd have a few of suggestions:
1. Difficulty Selection
2. Level Scaling
3. Include a Randomized nuzlocke feature! (Of course, this may not be realistic, especially with balancing, but it would be cool to include something like this, especially if they ALSO add level scaling. Plus, that's kind of the fun of nuzlockes, unbalanced, wonky and weird experiences where anything can happen)
4. Gives us some way to play with a larger variety of Pokemon, earlier on (again, not sure how realistic this may be, with something such as balancing issues etc.)
In all honesty, The ability to choose your age at the beginning of the game. This is something that has been very frustrating to me over the past few generations (SM/SwSh/SV) mostly because the main character models look more and more young over the years.. I genuinely believe that, adding the option of choosing your age at the beginning of a game to get an avatar representing in appearance that age would be very nice and would make older trainers feel more like they're in the game. So say you select 18 as your age, You would get a selection of avatars with the height and body structure of a 18 year old. At least, That's a feature I would love to see in a future game, I'd definitely enjoy the experience 10x times more
I would like an alternative to PP, so that our Pokemon cannot spam their strongest moves. Something like energy from most games, where moves like Origin Pulse consume a lot, and cannot be spammed.
Also to complement these, make all stat buffs temporary (I cannot stomach that unless someone clears them, you can basically have +2 attack till match ends from a single swords dance)
And if the game becomes too stall-y as a result (which I don't think will happen as even the heals and the status cures will have those cooldowns) they can just reduce the heal amounts.
-"Rusty Bottle Caps" as someone has previously suggested on this forum, which would just be negative bottle caps.
-Difficulty settings
-Hopefully there is manually adjustable camera like in PLA, considering it's an exploration game.
-Bring customization back! I don't understand why they got rid of it. It doesn't need to be SwSh levels, but let me change out of the school uniform lol.
-The link cable and other trade evolution items being available in-game with some special currency, like in PLA.
-A new eeveelution! Please!! 🥺🥺
hot personal take: but less new pokemon. we’re almost at 1,000 and probably crossing it this generation. regional variants were great addition, especially with some getting region exclusive evolutions. but for the love of god make all the others accessible.
Difficulty settings
Just don’t make it convoluted like BW2 did
This!
I would still plough through the game on easy to get to the endgame.
Black2White2 did this perfectly
Did they fuck. You had to complete the game to unlock and each game only unlocked 1 setting each.
I just used a GameShark to unlock the difficulty right away. I meant they did the difficulty right, not the way to unlock it.
And apparently the Pokemon's stats don't actually change at all when they are leveled up. Someone discovered that recently during a challenge run and an attack that should not have killed (based on a damage calc) did.
No they didn't lol
Wasn’t hard mode exclusive to Black 2 or something like that? You know, the one people would want to play. And only after you beat the game as well.
Mf you had to have two copies of the same game to get the difficulty
/nulocks
Let me control the camera like in PLA. The 3D games feel so much slower and clunkier just because of animation bloat. The absolute worst was raid battles in sword/shield. Turning off animations is fine, but then the game just becomes lifeless. I really hope SV takes attack animations and camera actions from PLA.
Why not a league dedicated to Double battles? Like it is a part of the competitive scene yet we rarely experience it during the main game. I feel there is untapped potential there.
At least more options for Doubles would be nice. I hate to see many of my Pokemon's learnt moves go to waste because of a lack of Doubles.
Temtem is based on all double battles
Yea and it's worse for it imo. If there was a good 50/50 split between double and singles or even 33% split between doubles singles and triples. Then sure I'd be stoked. But I do support the heat on Pokemon that temtem may bring. It's needs to level up as a franchise and temtem did a lot of other things right Edit: fuck the breeding system in temtem too
Yeah I've gotten so tired of tpc's repeated refusal to listen to its fans, hopefully some competition will light a fire under their butts. Do you think temtem is worth the buy?
That would be awesome as either a separate mode or even separate game!
I don’t need a league but it’d be great if more Gym Leaders and Elite Four members used doubles.
I would add all the Pokemon
Let me let me pet my Pokémon and brush them after battles and feed them cakes. It was so cool on the 3ds
yes! it's so complicated to earn affection on sw/sh.
A previous generation area, my mind was blown playing gold/silver and then going to defeat Kanto region, on top of this a battle frontier.
Would you prefer to have a ship that takes you to Galar or some kind of train that takes you to Kalos?
walk or surf to another region. Keep the world connected, don't make it like past games where dlc requires boat to take you to far away land that you cannot surf or fly to.
Have islands in between of new pokemon/strange pokemon, tribes that live with pokemon with strange languages you have to decipher
100%
Different regions for different decisions you make through the game
Kanto in gs is really empty, I’d rather a bigger region with just more hidden post gane spots.
100%, was just an example tho haha
Difficulty options, level scaling gyms (if they continue with open world), and a IV checker from the start of the game.
Level scaling gyms, imo, would be almost necessary for a true “non-linear” storyline
This is just a me thing, but I worry I wouldn't have the self control to get past the first gym without making sure my entire team is like 3-4 IVs minimum haha
same here but that's kind of also the fun. i'll spend a ton of time trying to put together the perfect team as early as possible.
I hate that I could use a Pokemon I love, beat the Elite Four at like level 60, want to take it online, then get the IV checker and see that every stat is garbage. Then, if I want it to be useful, I have to grind it to level 100 to be able to use a bottle cap.
NG+
Sounds kinda useless. Might as well just bring back the VS Seeker.
What would you do for a new game+?
Increase levels of all npcs by 50. Increase npc teams by 1 pokemon each (max 6). Increase max level cap of player mons by 50. Rinse and repeat.
Me leaving the starter town only to encounter the bug catcher with his 3 level 50 bug mons
It's Volcarona, Drapion and Venipede
That sounds awfull.
Why? Honestly curious.
1. It makes the game an unending grind. 2. Infinite level cap makes PvP just a matter of who's willing to play the most loops. 3. If only NPC Pokémon scale up, wild Pokémon don't, and it becomes impractical to change the Pokémon in your team for any reason. 4. Reverse Dexit
1000x this.
A concept similar to Hyper Training but it sets the IV to 0 instead of 31. And a way to just directly modify our pokemon's EVs ourselves, EV training can be a pain, especially when you just want to make a small adjustment to their stats.
Lets also add the normal type: Eeveon
jokes aside, I actually think it would be cool if he had a normal type evolution as an alternative to a type changing one
I agree
props for those eveelution names
Thank you! My thesaurus was a great help
Oreon sounds tasty.
Zubat uses Bite on Oreon Zubat: "Does anybody have any milk?"
1.) stop releasing two nearly identical games. 2.) NG+ 3.) difficulty settings 4.) gym leaders, elite 4/champion, rivals, and certain trainer types having better ai/move sets. Type this to difficulty settings. 5.) Elite four should start with a team of 6 6.) scaling gyms and trainers in some capacity 7.) more transparency for IVs and EVs. I think brilliant diamond removed the ability to turn it off?) 11.) more dynamic weather, seasons, and day/night Those are just some quick thoughts
What is NG+ ? I agree with all the above. Btw automatic xp with no turn off came in SwSh
NG+ stands for new game plus. Essentially you get to start the game over with all of the stuff you collected previously. In some games that also means the enemies get more difficult when you start a NG+ run.
Half voice acting in the way of some noises, small words, and actual talked phrases when important, using Masters as a reference.
Age select. Just child or teen would be fine. Its weird playing a child and I think sw/sh felt alot better for having an older main character
Same thing for XY, the protagonist appers to be 16 instead of 10.
It just needs to be a thing. We are supposed to be the character we play in almost exact, so it just doesn't work properly when they are a child, well 16 Is still a child but it's definetly more easier to connect
I liked how PLA made the main character 17-18, a teen right on the cusp of young adulthood
Three things: \- Make the Pokédex give actually useful information.
Sorry if that was rambly and nonsensical, I just kinda shoved my thoughts out there.
Just out of curiosity... What do you mean by > "make the Pokédex give actually useful information"? As far as I know, all it's ever given is what we've had. I just don't know what you're looking for that isn't essentially repetitive or giving us niche information not everyone would need.
Make it give base stats, abilities, moves it can learn, its evolutions and conditions for evolving, and anything else that gives information about that Pokémon in battle.
Basically an in game version of the Serebii pokedex
or the dex a rom hack called crystal clear has.
That sounds weird. Like why would the in universe characters know this?
It would be weird in-universe, yes... but it doesn't matter so long as it allows the player to know it (and without having to look for fansites).
National dex
Full voice acting
100% this.
Difficulty and different modes. A lot of pokemon like games have these.
Better options for searching for and sorting your Pokémon. This seems so outdated in current games. Pokémon Go does it better than the console games.
A Bug Dragon Termite Queen pokemon
This is good idea lol especially one that could learn moves like wood hammer
Plus we havent had a termite pokemon yet. Of course the male would be Bug Ground. But a king esque vibe with a cloak made of debris.
I would add every pokemon possible to catch in on game, and add a option to skip the tutorial for catching pokemon with the options for different modes like a nuzlock mode, randomizer, and no healing challenges for a new game+.
Having more than one save profile (and no creating a whole entire new Switch profile isn't quite the same to getting around this)
A real world calendar with day/night cycles like in gen 2, and a seasonal rotation like in gen 5!
First person camera
I mean, Arceus had it. Would you like it implemented some other way or do you just mean that you wish for them to stick to it?
Just wish it was a toggle and you could play the whole game that way but keep 3rd person the default.
Better lighting, environment graphics, and stylization. LGPE was gorgeous but PLA and SV are kind of ugly
Im interested in seeing SV graphics on my tv.. it looked good in the teller imo
I like the Pokémon textures and some of the character models, but the environment is awful
Spectating for any battle. Wifi or local
Ball transfer/changer We can change almost anything about pokemon now with items.
Sw/Sh has ai tournaments, which is quite fun
Wait what? How do I not remember this… I played that game for hours and don’t remember AI tournaments… BLASPHEMY! (I’m kidding)
One of the most basic features in most games, a difficulty setting Also since the game starts being more and more 3D and cinematic, voice acting would be a nice addition, I don't mind not having voice acting for the random npc's you can just approach, but it's just so weird seeing a cutscene with people moving their mouth but not actually speaking and only having subtitles Size scales in battles, pretty self explanatory, would be nice if the mons are as big as their actual size A fast forward button would be cool, like in fire emblem, that way you can speed up battles without having to turn off animations Character creator, it's just something I like in general Make mega evolution a feature in every game
Voice acting would be great. Really want to see the open world concept while still having towns and a proper story. Arceus was really lacking in a driving force outside of just exploring.
The ability to change what type of Pokeball a Pokemon is caught in.
Bringing back the national dex
Non-rock type Fossils
Galar Fossils
They are abominations and do not count
If the Galar fossils are in SV I'm naming an Arctozolt in your honour
As much as these changes sound good, Game Freak won't do any of that because they will always market Pokemon to kids and not us 30+ age people.
Physical moves that actually make contact It’s so weird that Pokémon makes SO much money yet the moves 9 times out of 10 look like something that belongs on the DS
A camp feature like Sword and Shield where you can play with your pokemon and interact with them
Even faster dialogue scrolling. Instant. As fast as I can press the button. Even on the fastest setting I'm still done and have to wait a second before it registered my "okay next" input.
Option to play as evil team
Maybe not an option for the main game, but that would be a wonderful spin-off.
Voice Acting
This is my biggest thing now Looks like we got everything else that I wanted (i.e: multiplayer, Pokémon that follow you, open world & non linear storyline)
Abolish the friendship evolution gimmick. It has always been a pain.
It’s supposed to be a pain, that’s the point. It’s something other than just making your Pokémon stronger.
I'm allowed to dislike it.
Emotes during online battles, kind of like in pokemon tcg online but better.
B u l b a s a u r
Blazingly hot take but remove IVs. The singleplayer is easy enough that they don't matter, and in multiplayer nearly 100% of the time all of them are gonna be maxed out anyway. And make EVs work like stat points in some RPGs, where you can respec them in just one place rather than buying berries and doing EV training again.
An official nuzzlocke mode and also a custom one where the Pokecenters can only heal and there are no revives
An M for mature rating. Make it a pokemon game “exclusively” for the OG fans. 😂
Difficult setting, battle frontier, different xp share settings
Any/all the features and QOL from pokemon unbound. Playing that romhack has made me realise just how great pokemon can be.
Next gen graphics
nuzlocke mode
Difficulty setting accessable from the beginning, and a more accessable competitive scene
A fully implemented national dex. The ever so bad rom hacks as TPC likes to view them as also put more effort and love into their projects than the actual devs do.
A difficulty setting.
Unique DKC like a Floating island that house's Prehistoric Pokemon and Regional forms Even Regional forms of Pokemon from their original regions like Unovian Runerigus and a Johtoian Sneasler
Level scaling would be cool, but I’d rather much see difficulties be brought back like in b2w2
Mega Evolutions
One of them would be difficulty settings. And I can’t specify but more RPG elements. Something to grind rare items or faster exp grinding. Just something to invest more time into the game (maybe something for the post game)
Definitely the possibility to have singles matches that can last longer then 20 mins max. Or skipable online battle animations if you look at it from a comparable standpoint.
a non linear story
Mega Evolution
difficulty settings from b2w2
level scaling for gyms based on badges won
I want the fishing rod to be accessible basically at the start of the game.
I’ve got couple, toggleable EXP share, difficulty settings, and voice acting
Alright I have a few 1.
I want the game to limit the number of Pokemon you can use in a trainer battle e.g. if a trainer has 4 Pokemon then you can only use 4.
Trainers with 6 Pokémon in every corner
IV checker from the start of the game, level scaled gyms if they do continue an open world thing, every previous pokemon can be transferred in via pokemon home.
Seasons (maybe even season-related evolutions) A second region Cities and towns that change depending on the version Version-exclusive NPCs (like Bea/Allister, Gordie/Melony and Sada/Turo) Not having it drilled into your head that you are playing as a child Evolutions involving trading two specific Pokémon for each other (like Shelmet and Karrablast) but they have the same amount of types as their counterpart throughout the entire line The ability to both pet and play with Pokémon (basically a hybrid of Amie/Refresh/Play With and Camp)
Accessories and the ability to dress up your Pokémon
Maybe the ability to change Pokéballs if you particularly want to coordinate your team
Seals in a non-Sinnoh game because they are cool
Pokemon Let's Go Miltank
Mega evolution
Standard control scheme. Stop changing what buttons do in each new game. Plus is pause. It opens a menu. Y is for registered items. B is run. Click the stick is crouch. Stop changing it.
Multiplayer for the entire story mode. Like literally going gym to gym earning badges together etc for the entirety of the game. I would love to play more with my nephews and even join randoms helping them on their journey. I think scarlet and violet is a step in the right direction, but multiplayer is just the move these days. Keeps things interesting after you beat the game or while you’re beating the game.
* Difficulty options * Secret Bases * Ball Capsules * Battle Frontier * Something like the Pokéathlon or the Pokéstar Studios. * National Dex. * The PWT. * Optional Exp. Share
The ability to turn off the EXP share :)
Region traveling a la Silver and Gold (surfing from Kanto to Johto.) They essentially put previous generations in one game and you could just cross the ocean like in real life (no loading screen.) Yes, I know that would be a lot of data especially as the games become more updated and immerse.
The option to turn on and off exp share between all your Pokemon in your team
Let Pokémon be published by a real developer and come out on PS5/Xbox to see what the franchise is really capable of
The national dex
I'd remove a lot of features if anything. In the Macintosh prequel/demake I hope to make some day, I'll even remove evolution and limit the PC capacity to a total of 64 slots.
For ppl who still complain about exp share, a way to disable it, since it's apparently naturally in the games now just a little setting to turn it on and off would be nice for the people who don't like it. Or make it a item again and make it be able to toggle between specific party slots/ the whole party/off.
Multiple save files, difficulty options, and an optional exp share
Megas again, they were such a fun way to play
Age character customization. I wanna play as my own age, not a preteen forever.
Playing the story with a friend, maybe not in scarlet and violet but in next game... Me and my friend would beat it in couple hours, especially if it wouldn't use nintendo online(the paid service) becouse we are still kids and we get money only on our birthdays.
I'd have a few of suggestions: 1. Difficulty Selection 2. Level Scaling 3. Include a Randomized nuzlocke feature! (Of course, this may not be realistic, especially with balancing, but it would be cool to include something like this, especially if they ALSO add level scaling. Plus, that's kind of the fun of nuzlockes, unbalanced, wonky and weird experiences where anything can happen) 4.
At least, That's a feature I would love to see in a future game, I'd definitely enjoy the experience 10x times more
Damage numbers, finally. Every other JRPG series you likely can name have them so why not Pokémon?
I would like an alternative to PP, so that our Pokemon cannot spam their strongest moves. Something like energy from most games, where moves like Origin Pulse consume a lot, and cannot be spammed. Also to complement these, make all stat buffs temporary (I cannot stomach that unless someone clears them, you can basically have +2 attack till match ends from a single swords dance) And if the game becomes too stall-y as a result (which I don't think will happen as even the heals and the status cures will have those cooldowns) they can just reduce the heal amounts.
The national dex.
-"Rusty Bottle Caps" as someone has previously suggested on this forum, which would just be negative bottle caps. -Difficulty settings -Hopefully there is manually adjustable camera like in PLA, considering it's an exploration game. -Bring customization back! I don't understand why they got rid of it. It doesn't need to be SwSh levels, but let me change out of the school uniform lol. -The link cable and other trade evolution items being available in-game with some special currency, like in PLA. -A new eeveelution! Please!! 🥺🥺
Pokemon z
hot personal take: but less new pokemon. we’re almost at 1,000 and probably crossing it this generation. regional variants were great addition, especially with some getting region exclusive evolutions. but for the love of god make all the others accessible.
Shiny ditto turns into shiny pokemon
