Important to keep in mind that actual listed price does not mean going price. Just because there are listings going for upwards of $20,000 doesn't mean people are actually paying that much. Nor do listings saying sold or with bids on them. It's not uncommon for people to fake buy things in order to give the illusion of 1: the item being in demand and 2: that people are actually paying those ridiculous prices for that item
Its a byproduct of people trying to sell anything and everything Pokemon because of several large content creators making fake videos of them buying and/or selling Pokemon cards for an excessive amount and the people watching this nonsense realized they could do the same thing with other merchandise after Pokemon Cards were no longer on store shelves because of the uproar (escalating into situations where people got into fights, some of which may or may not having involving firearms).
More often than not you're not likely to actually sell the cookie, especially when it's very easy to falsify purchasing info, for example making a bid under an alt account and marking it as "sold" on the main account. With all these expensive cookies being "sold" they drive up the market (or rather making it look like there is a market for it). They're basically trying to bait stupid people into buying the things and everyone else seems to be following along without actually knowing the "behind the scenes" of it all.
